3Clinical effect of manual reduction of humeroradial joint in the treatment of typeⅠ-Ⅲfresh Monteggia fracture in children显示文摘Purpose:To evaluate the efficacy of closed reduction on the humeroradial joint in the treatment of Bado typeⅠ,ⅡandⅢfresh Monteggia fractures in children and investigate the effect of clinical factors,including Bado classification,age and time of treatment on the success rate of closed reduction.Methods:We retrospectively studied the data of children<10 years old with fresh Monteggia fractures(injury within two weeks)treated by manual reduction with plaster immobilization from January 2014 to April 2019.All patients were followed up in the outpatient department every two weeks for 4-6 weeks until plaster removal and then 3,6 and 12 months.Online or telephone interview was provided for some inconvenient patients after 6 months.Mackay criteria were used to evaluate the clinical effect.Radiographic data were collected and reviewed to assess the reduction of the humeroradial joint.Function of the elbow joint and forearm was evaluated and risk factors related to the failure of reduction were assessed.The successful manual reduction was analyzed from three aspects,respectively Bado fracture type(Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ),patient age(<3 year,3-6 years,>6 years)and time interval from injury to treatment(group A,<1 day;group B,1-3 days;group C,>3 days).Results:Altogether 88 patients were employed in this study,including 58 males(65.9%)and 30 females(34.1%)aged from 1 to 10 years.There were 29 cases(33.0%)of Bado typeⅠMonteggia fractures,16(18.2%)typeⅡand 43(48.7%)typeⅢ.Successful manual reduction was achieved in 79 children(89.8%)at the last follow-up.The failed 9 patients received open surgery.Mackay criteria showed 100%goodexcellent rate for all the patients.The success rate of manual reduction was 89.7%,87.5%and 90.7%in Bado typeⅠ,ⅡandⅢcases,respectively,revealing no significant differences among different Bado types(x2=0.131,p=0.937).Successful closed reduction was achieved in 13 toddlers(13/13,100%),38 preschool children(28/42,90.5%)and 28 school-age children(28/33,84.8%),suggesting no significant difference either(x2=2.375,p=0.305).However time interval from injury to treatment showed that patients treated within 3 days had a much higher rate of successful manual reduction:67 cases(67/71,94.4%)in group A,10 cases(10/11,90.9%)in group B,and 2 cases(2/6,33.3%)in group C(x2=22.464,p<0.001).Fisher's test further showed significant differences between groups A and C(p=0.001)and groups B and C(p=0.028).Conclusion:Closed reduction is a safe and effective method for treating fresh Monteggia fractures in children.The reduction should be conducted as soon as possible once the diagnosis has been made.Yin-Qiang Cao Jia-Zhong Deng Yuan Zhang Xiao-Wei Yuan Tao Liu Jun Li Xiang Li Pan Gou Ming Li Xing Liu 2020Chinese Journal of Traumatology2020,23,4:5
4Depletion of ribosomal protein L8 impairs Drosophila development and is associated with apoptosis显示文摘Ribosomal protein L8 is a component of the 60S subunit of the ribosome and is involved in protein synthesis but its role in Drosophila development is not well understood.We depleted L8 through RNA interference (RNAi) to examine its effects on fly development both in vivo and in vitro.The results demonstrated that L8 RNAi caused embryonic or first-larval lethality,delay of larval development,defects in eye and wing morphology,and dramatically reduced the number of S2 cells.This indicated that L8 plays a crucial role in Drosophila development.Acridine orange staining of the wing discs showed that apoptosis occurred when L8 was depleted,indicating that depletion of L8 is tightly connected to apoptosis.RT-PCR analyses of the transcription level of genes that are known to be key factors in apoptosis (p53,hid,reaper,dark,Dcp-1) and cell cycle regulation (cdc45,MCM3,cyclin B,incenp) in L8-deficient S2 cells,were consistent with their role in apoptosis induction and cell cycle arrest.These results indicate that depletion of L8 strongly impairs Drosophila development,and that this depletion is associated with cell proliferation arrest and apoptosis,in which p53 may play a central role.LI HongYan1,PAN LiXia2 & GOU KeMian1* 1State Key Laboratory for Agrobiotechnology,China Agricultural University,Beijing 100193,China 2School of Medicine,Tsinghua University,Beijing 100080,China 2010Science China(Life Sciences)2010,53,9:2
5Age and Body Size of the Shangcheng Stout Salamander Pachyhynobius shangchengensis(Caudata:Hynobiidae)from Southeastern China显示文摘Age and body size a re critical for understanding life history evolution and ecology.In this study,the age and body size of the Shangcheng stout salamander,Pachyhynobius shangchengensis,from a population in Anhui Province,China,were studied by skeletochronology.The mean age was 8.8±0.2(mean±SD)years in females and 9.6±0.2 in males and ranged 5-13 years for both sexes.The mean age was significantly different between sexes.The mean body size and mass were(100.21±0.91)mm and(31.76±0.73)g in females,and(105.31±1.23)mm and(37.14±1.12)g in males,respectively.Males were significantly larger and heavier than females,indicating sexual size dimorphism.There was a significant positive correlation among body size,body mass,and age,suggesting that the oldest individuals are larger and heavier.The growth rate in males was significantly higher than in females.The present study provides preliminary data on life-history traits which can be helpful for future studies of this species and other hynobiid salamanders.Jianli XIONG Jianping GOU Yong HUANG Baowei ZHANG Hongtao REN Tao PAN 2020Asian Herpetological Research2020,11,3:2

7Strategies for improving adipose-derived stem cells for tissue regeneration显示文摘Adipose-derived stem cells(ADSCs)have promising applications in tissue regeneration.Currently,there are only a few ADSC products that have been approved for clinical use.The clinical application of ADSCs still faces many challenges.Here,we review emerging strategies to improve the therapeutic efficacy of ADSCs in tissue regeneration.First,a great quantity of cells is often needed for the stem cell therapies,which requires the advanced cell expansion technologies.In addition cell-derived products are also required for the development of‘cell-free’therapies to overcome the drawbacks of cell-based therapies.Second,it is necessary to strengthen the regenerative functions of ADSCs,including viability,differentiation and paracrine ability,for the tissue repair and regeneration required for different physiological and pathophysiological conditions.Third,poor delivery efficiency also restricts the therapeutic effect of ADSCs.Effective methods to improve cell delivery include alleviating harsh microenvironments,enhancing targeting ability and prolonging cell retention.Moreover,we also point out some critical issues about the sources,effectiveness and safety of ADSCs.With these advanced strategies to improve the therapeutic efficacy of ADSCs,ADSC-based treatment holds great promise for clinical applications in tissue regeneration.Xin Yuan Li Li Haofan Liu Jing Luo Yongchao Zhao Cheng Pan Xue Zhang Yuwen Chen Maling Gou 2022Burns & Trauma2022,10,1:1

9Agitation drying synthesis of porous carbon supported Li_(3)VO_4 as advanced anode material for lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Li_(3)VO_4 has been considered as a promising insertion-type anode for lithium-ion batteries due to its high theoretical specific capacity and suitable operating voltage platform. However, this promising anode still suffers from poor electrical conductivity. To address this issue, herein, a porous carbon supported Li_(3)VO_4 composites(Li_(3)VO_4/C) via a facile agitation-drying method combined with subsequent calcination is reported, in which Ketjen black carbon with high porosity, easy dispersion and excellent conductivity can serve as one of carbon sources. The Li_(3)VO_4/C composite prepared at 700 ℃ with a carbon content of~10% exhibits the optimized structure. The void space of the composite accommodates the volume changes during the charge/discharge process.Meanwhile, the carbon shell serves as a conductive skeleton to provide bi-continuous Li ions and electrons pathways. Electrochemical results reveal that the composite delivers a high initial discharge capacity of 572 m Ahág^(-1) and maintains a capacity of 442.9 m Ahág^(-1) after 100 cycles at 100 m Aág^(-1). Even at a high current density of 2 Aág^(-1), a considerable capacity of 243.8 m Ahág^(-1) can still be obtained. 10Survival after radical cystectomy for bladder cancer:Multicenter comparison between minimally invasive and open approaches显示文摘Objective:To investigate oncological outcomes in patients with bladder cancer who underwent minimally invasive radical cystectomy(MIRC)or open radical cystectomy(ORC).Methods:We identified patients with bladder cancer who underwent radical cystectomy(RC)in 13 centers of the Chinese Bladder Cancer Consortium(CBCC).Perioperative outcomes were compared between MIRC and ORC.The influence of surgical approaches on overall survival(OS)and cancer-specific survival(CSS)in the entire study group and subgroups classified according to pathologic stage or lymph node(LN)status was assessed with the log-rank test.Multivariable Cox proportional hazard models were used to evaluate the association among OS,CSS and risk factors of interest.Results:Of 2098 patients who underwent RC,1243 patients underwent MIRC(1087 laparoscopic RC and 156 robotic-assisted RC,respectively),while 855 patients underwent ORC.No significant differences were noted in positive surgical margin rate and 90-day postoperative mortality rate.MIRC was associated with less estimated blood loss,more LN yield,higher rate of neobladder diversion,longer operative time,and longer length of hospital stay.There was no significant difference in OS and CSS according to surgical approaches(pZ0.653,and 0.816,respectively).Subgroup analysis revealed that OS and CSS were not significantly different regardless of the status of extravesical involvement or LN involvement.Multivariable Cox regression analyses showed that the surgical approach was not a significant predictor of OS and CSS.Conclusions:Our study showed that MIRC was comparable to conventional ORC in terms of OS and CSS.Weibin Xie Junming Bi Qiang Wei Ping Han Dongkui Song Lei Shi Dingwei Ye Yijun Shen Xin Gou Weiyang He Shaogang Wang Zheng Liu Jinhai Fan Kaijie Wu Zhiwen Chen Xiaozhou Zhou Chuize Kong Yang Liu Chunxiao Liu Abai Xu Baiye Jin Guanghou Fu Wei Xue Haige Chen Tiejun Pan Zhong Tu Tianxin Lin Jian Huang 2020Asian Journal of Urology2020,7,3:1

12Analysis of SBLOCA on CPR1000 with a passive system显示文摘Since the Fukushima accident in 2011,more and more attention has been paid to nuclear reactor safety.A number of evolutionary passive systems have been developed to enhance the inherent safety of reactors.This paper presents a passive safety system applied on CPR1000,which is a traditional generation II+ reactor.The passive components selected are as follows:(1) the reactor makeup tanks(RMTs);(2) the advanced accumulators(A-ACCs);(3) the passive emergency feedwater system(PEFS);(4)the passive depressurization system(PDS);(5) the incontainment refueling water storage tank(IRWST).The model of the coolant system and the passive systems was established by utilizing a system code(RELAP5/MOD3.3).The SBLOCA(small-break loss of coolant) was analyzed to test the passive safety systems.When the SBLOCA occurred,the RMTs were initiated.The water in the RMTs was then injected into the pressure vessel.The RMTs' low water level triggered the PDS,which depressurized the coolant system drastically.As the pressure of the coolant system decreased,the A-ACCs and the IRWST were put to work to prevent the uncovering of the core.The results show that,after the small-break loss-of-coolant accident,the passive systems can prevent uncovering of the core and guarantee the safety of the plant.Zi-Jiang Yang Jun-Li Gou Jian-Qiang Shan Pan Wu 2017Nuclear Science and Techniques2017,28,1:0

15De Novo Biosynthesis of Vindoline and Catharanthine in Saccharomyces cerevisiae显示文摘Vinblastine has been used clinically as one of the most potent therapeutics for the treatment of several types of cancer.However,the traditional plant extraction method suffers from unreliable supply,low abundance,and extremely high cost.Here,we use synthetic biology approach to engineer Saccharomyces cerevisiae for de novo biosynthesis of vindoline and catharanthine,which can be coupled chemically or biologically to vinblastine.On the basis of a platform strain with sufficient supply of precursors and cofactors for biosynthesis,we reconstituted,debottlenecked,and optimized the biosynthetic pathways for the production of vindoline and catharanthine.The vindoline biosynthetic pathway represents one of the most complicated pathways ever reconstituted in microbial cell factories.Using shake flask fermentation,our engineered yeast strains were able to produce catharanthine and vindoline at a titer of 527.1 and 305.1μg·liter^(−1),respectively,without accumulating detectable amount of pathway intermediates.This study establishes a representative example for the production of valuable plant natural products in yeast.Di Gao Tengfei Liu Jucan Gao Junhao Xu Yuanwei Gou Yingjia Pan Dongfang Li Cuifang Ye Ronghui Pan Lei Huang Zhinan Xu Jiazhang Lian 2022BioDesign Research2022,,1:0
16Mineralogical evidence of water activity in the northern lowlands of Mars based on inflight-calibrated spectra from the Zhurong rover显示文摘Hydrated minerals provide direct indications of the early Martian water environment. The various clay minerals and evaporite salts found to date are mainly exposed in the ancient southern highlands of Mars. While it is believed that the area of the northern lowlands could have hosted a global ocean in the past, its surface is covered with a layer of spectrally nonabsorbing materials, and orbital hyperspectral remote sensing has found only sparse evidence for the presence of water. China's first Mars exploration mission, Tianwen-1, landed in the putative ancient shoreline zone of the northern lowlands of Mars. Its rover,Zhurong, conducted high-spatial-resolution reconnaissance to reveal the geological and environmental evolution of this region.Owing to frequent dust storms, not only is the Martian surface covered with dust, but also the spectral calibration panels on the rover are affected by dust coverage. Data from the shortwave infrared(SWIR) spectrometer onboard the rover are also affected by other environmental factors such as instrumental temperature changes and atmospheric carbon dioxide absorption. This study recalibrated the in situ SWIR data to minimize the impact of the above factors. The recalibrated spectral data show that the reflectance of the landing area falls within the normal range of Martian soil, and confirm the presence of several important absorption peaks. The absorption characteristics indicate the presence of polyhydrated sulfates, gypsum, and hydrated silicates in the surface materials along the rover track, with sulfate content of <27–39 wt.%.
