| 1 | Arsenic hyperaccumulator Pteris Vittata L. and its arsenic accumulation显示文摘An arsenic hyperaccumulator Pteris vittata L. (Chinese brake) was first discovered in China by means of field survey and greenhouse cultivation. Field survey showed that Chinese brake had large accumulating capacity to arsenic; the orders of arsenic content in different parts of the fern were as follows: leaves>leafstalks>roots, which is totally different from that of ordinary plants; bioaccumulation coefficients of the above ground parts of the fern decreased as a power function of soil arsenic contents. In the control of pot trials with normal unpolluted soil containing 9mg/kg of arsenic, the bioaccumulation coefficients of the above ground parts and rhizoids of Chinese brake were as high as 71 and 80 respectively. Greenhouse cultivation in the contaminated soil from mining areas has shown that more than 1 times greater arsenic can be accumulated in the leaves of the fern than that of field samples with the largest content of 5070 mg/kg As on a dry matter basis. | 2 | Methylation profile of the promoter CpG islands of 14 “drug-resistance”genes in hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM: To establish the DNA methylation patterns of the promoter CpG islands of 14 'drug-resistance' genes in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).METHODS: The methylation specific polymerase chain reaction in conjunction with sequencing verification was used to establish the methylation patterns of the 14 genes in the liver tissues of four healthy liver donors, as well as tumor and the paired non-cancerous tissues of 30 HCC patients.RESULTS: While 11 genes (ATP-binding cassette, sub-family G (WHITE), member 2(ABCG2), activating transcription factor (ATF2), beta-2-microglobulin (B2M), deoxycytidine kinase(DCK, occludin (OCLN, v-raf-1 murine leukemia viral oncogene homolog (RAF/), ralA binding protein 1 (RALBP1),splicing factor (45 kD) (SPF45), S-phase kinase-associated protein 2 (p45) (SKP2), tumor protein p53 (Li-Fraumeni syndrome) (TP53) and topoisomerase (DNA) II beta (TOP2B) maintained the unmethylated patterns, three genes displayed to various extents the hypermethylation state in tumor tissues in comparison with the normal counterparts. The catalase (CAT) was hypermethylated in tumor and the neighboring non-cancerous tissue of one case (3.3%). Both glutathione S-transferase pi (GSTp/) (80%, 24/30 in tumor and 56.7%,17/30 in the paired non-cancerous tissues) and cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator, ATP-binding cassette (sub-family C, member 7) (CF-FR) (77%, 23/30 in tumor and 50%, 15/30 in the paired non-cancerous tissues) genes were prevalently hypermethylated in HCC as well as their neighboring non-cancerous tissues. No significant difference in the hypermethylation occurrence was observed between the HCC and its neighboring non-cancerous tissues.CONCLUSION: Hypermethylation of promoter CpG islands of both CF-FR and GSTpigenes occurs prevalently in HCC,which may correlate with the low expression of these two genes at the mRNA level and has the profound etiological and clinical implications. | 4 | Effects of grazing on net primary productivity,evapotranspiration and water use efficiency in the grasslands of Xinjiang,China显示文摘Grazing is a main human activity in the grasslands of Xinjiang, China. It is vital to identify the effects of grazing on the sustainable utilization of local grasslands. However, the effects of grazing on net primary productivity(NPP), evapotranspiration(ET) and water use efficiency(WUE) in this region remain unclear. Using the spatial Biome-BGC grazing model, we explored the effects of grazing on NPP, ET and WUE across the different regions and grassland types in Xinjiang during 1979–2012. NPP, ET and WUE under the grazed scenario were generally lower than those under the ungrazed scenario, and the differences showed increasing trends over time. The decreases in NPP, ET and WUE varied significantly among the regions and grassland types. NPP decreased as follows: among the regions, Northern Xinjiang(16.60 g C/(m^2·a)), Tianshan Mountains(15.94 g C/(m^2·a)) and Southern Xinjiang(-3.54 g C/(m^2·a)); and among the grassland types, typical grasslands(25.70 g C/(m^2·a)), swamp meadows(25.26 g C/(m^2·a)), mid-mountain meadows(23.39 g C/(m^2·a)), alpine meadows(6.33 g C/(m^2·a)), desert grasslands(5.82 g C/(m^2·a)) and saline meadows(2.90 g C/(m^2·a)). ET decreased as follows: among the regions, Tianshan Mountains(28.95 mm/a), Northern Xinjiang(8.11 mm/a) and Southern Xinjiang(7.57 mm/a); and among the grassland types, mid-mountain meadows(29.30 mm/a), swamp meadows(25.07 mm/a), typical grasslands(24.56 mm/a), alpine meadows(20.69 mm/a), desert grasslands(11.06 mm/a) and saline meadows(3.44 mm/a). WUE decreased as follows: among the regions, Northern Xinjiang(0.053 g C/kg H_2O), Tianshan Mountains(0.034 g C/kg H_2O) and Southern Xinjiang(0.012 g C/kg H_2O); and among the grassland types, typical grasslands(0.0609 g C/kg H_2O), swamp meadows(0.0548 g C/kg H_2O), mid-mountain meadows(0.0501 g C/kg H_2O), desert grasslands(0.0172 g C/kg H_2O), alpine meadows(0.0121 g C/kg H_2O) and saline meadows(0.0067 g C/kg H_2O). | 5 | Mo-modified Pd/Al_2O_3 catalysts for benzene catalytic combustion显示文摘Mo-modified Pd/Al2O3catalysts were prepared by an impregnation method and tested for the catalytic combustion of benzene. The catalysts were characterized by N2 isothermal adsorption, X-ray diffraction(XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), temperatureprogrammed desorption of NH3(NH3-TPD), H2temperature-programmed reduction(H2-TPR), and high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy(HAADF-STEM). The results showed that the addition of Mo effectively improved the activity and stability of the Pd/Al2O3catalyst by increasing the dispersion of Pd active components, changing the partial oxidation state of palladium and increasing the oxygen species concentration on the surface of catalyst. In the case of the Pd–Mo/Al2O3catalyst,benzene conversion of 90% was obtained at temperatures as low as 190°C, which was 45°C lower than that for similar performance with the Pd/Al2O3catalyst. Moreover, the 1.0% Pd–5% Mo/Al2O3catalyst was more active than the 2.0% Pd/Al2O3catalyst. | 7 | Modeling grassland net primary productivity and water-use efficiency along an elevational gradient of the Northern Tianshan Mountains显示文摘Mountainous ecosystems are considered highly sensitive and vulnerable to natural disasters and climatic changes.Therefore,quantifying the effects of elevation on grassland productivity to understand ecosystem-climate interactions is vital for mountainous ecosystems.Water-use efficiency(WUE)provides a useful index for understanding the metabolism of terrestrial ecosystems as well as for evaluating the degradation of grasslands.This paper explored net primary productivity(NPP)and WUE in grasslands along an elevational gradient ranging from 400 to 3,400 m asl in the northern Tianshan Mountains-southern Junggar Basin(TMJB),Xinjiang of China,using the Biome-BGC model.The results showed that:1)the NPP increased by 0.05 g C/(m2·a)with every increase of 1-m elevation,reached the maximum at the mid-high elevation(1,600 m asl),and then decreased by 0.06 g C/(m2·a)per 1-m increase in elevation;2)the grassland NPP was positively correlated with temperature in alpine meadow(AM,2,700-3,500 m asl),mid-mountain forest meadow(MMFM,1,650-2,700 m asl)and low-mountain dry grassland(LMDG,650-1,650 m asl),while positive correlations were found between NPP and annual precipitation in plain desert grassland(PDG,lower than 650 m asl);3)an increase(from 0.08 to 1.09 g C/(m2·a))in mean NPP for the grassland in TMJB under a real climate change scenario was observed from 1959 to 2009;and 4)remarkable differences in WUE were found among different elevations.In general,WUE increased with decreasing elevation,because water availability is lower at lower elevations;however,at elevations lower than 540 m asl,we did observe a decreasing trend of WUE with decreasing elevation,which may be due to the sharp changes in canopy cover over this gradient.Our research suggests that the NPP simulated by Biome-BGC is consistent with field data,and the modeling provides an opportunity to further evaluate interactions between environmental factors and ecosystem productivity. | QiFei HAN GePing LUO ChaoFan LI Hui YE YaoLiang CHEN | 2013 | Journal of Arid Land2013,5,3: | 5 |
| 8 | Mapping of Regional Soil Salinities in Xinjiang and Strategies for Amelioration and Management显示文摘Information on the spatial distribution of soil salinity can be used as guidance in avoiding the continued degradation of land and water resources by better informing policy makers. However, most regional soil-salinity maps are produced through a conventional direct-linking method derived from historic observations. Such maps lack spatial details and are limited in describing the evolution of soil salinization in particular instances. To overcome these limitations, we employed a method that included an integrative hierarchical-sampling strategy(IHSS) and the Soil Land Inference Model(So LIM) to map soil salinity over a regional area. A fuzzy c-means(FCM) classifier is performed to generate three measures, comprising representative grade, representative area, and representative level(membership). IHSS employs these three measures to ascertain how many representative samples are appropriate. Through this synergetic assessment, representative samples are obtained and their soil-salinity values are measured. These samples are input to So LIM, which is constructed based on fuzzy logic, to calculate the soil-forming environmental similarities between representative samples and other locations. Finally, a detailed soil-salinity map is produced through an averaging function that is linearly weighted, which is used to integrate the soil salinity value and soil similarity. This case study, in the Uyghur Autonomous Region of Xinjiang of China, demonstrates that the employed method can produce soil salinity map at a higher level of spatial detail and accuracy. Twenty-three representative points are determined. The results show that 1) the prediction is appropriate in Kuqa Oasis(R2 = 0.70, RPD = 1.55, RMSE = 12.86) and Keriya Oasis(R2 = 0.75, RPD = 1.66, RMSE = 10.92), that in Fubei Oasis(R2 = 0.77, RPD = 2.01, RMSE = 6.32) perform little better than in those two oases, according to the evaluation criterion. 2) Based on all validation samples from three oases, accuracy estimation show the employed method(R2 = 0.74, RPD = 1.67, RMSE = 11.18) performed better than the multiple linear regression model(R2 = 0.60, RPD = 1.47, RMSE = 14.45). 3) The statistical result show that approximately half(48.07%) of the study area has changed to salt-affected soil, mainly distributed in downstream of oases, around lakes, on both sides of rivers and more serious in the southern than the northern Xinjiang. To deal with this issue, a couple of strategies involving soil-salinity monitoring, water management, and plant diversification are proposed, to reduce soil salinization. | 9 | Pollution characteristics of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in common used mineral oils and their transformation during oil regeneration显示文摘The pollution characteristic of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) in common used mineral oils, semi-refined oils, refined oils and solid wastes produced during the used mineral oil regeneration process was analyzed. The results showed that total PAHs content in six common used mineral oils was as follows: used engine oil > used quenching oil > used casting oil > used hydraulic oil > used antirust oil > used industrial lubricating oil. Furthermore, this order was dependent on the source of PAHs and oil working temperatures. Additionally, total PAHs content in regenerated oils was as follows: semi-refined oil > refined oil > crude oil, which was related to the catalytic cracking process of crude oil and adsorption refining process of semi-refined oil. The ranking of total PAHs content in regenerated wastes varied depending on the regeneration technology used as follows: waste adsorption sand > acid sludge > waste clay > precipitation sludge > cracked residue. In all types of used mineral oils and regenerated wastes, the maximum and minimum proportions of the total PAHs content were composed of 2–3 ring-PAHs and 5–6 ring-PAHs, respectively. | 11 | Bacterial community composition and abundance in leachate of semi-aerobic and anaerobic landfills显示文摘The abundance and phylogenetic composition of bacterial community in leachate of semi-aerobic and anaerobic landfill were compared through real-time polymerase chain reaction and denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis. In semi-aerobic landfill scenario, the bacterial 16S rRNA copy numbers in leachate had no significant reduction from initial stage to stable period. In the scenario of anaerobic landfill, the largest bacterial 16S rRNA gene copy number was found in leachate at initial stage, but it reduced significantly at stable period. Moreover, methane-oxidizing bacteria population in stable period was lower than that in initial period in both two landfill processes. However, semi-aerobic landfill leachate had more methanotrophic bacteria populations than that in the anaerobic one. Furthermore, according to the sequences and phylogenetic analysis, obvious difference could be detected in bacterial community composition in different scenarios. Proteobacteria and bacteroidetes took up a dominantly higher proportion in semi-aerobic landfill leachate. | 18 | Laparoscopic approach for intermittent hydronephrosis caused by primary ureteral fibroepithelial polyps in children显示文摘Objective To summarize the diagnosis and treatment experience of children with intermittent hydronephrosis caused by ureteral fibroepithelial polyp(UFP).Methods From 2017 to 2020,cases of hydronephrosis caused by ureteral polyp in Anhui Provincial Children’s Hospital were retrospectively enrolled for investigation.Demographic data,clinical manifestations,operation details,pathology and outcomes were collected from patients’medical data for analysis.Results All seven cases of UFP were boys,including six cases on the left side of the ureter and one case on the right side,at the median age of 7.1 years(3-14 years),with abdominal intermittent pain as the first symptom.All cases underwent laparoscopic pyeloureteroplasty.All the operations were completed successfully;postoperative pathology indicated the presence of primary UFP.Postoperative follow-ups of 1-30 months showed satisfactory recovery and relief from hydronephrosis.Conclusions Laparoscopic pyeloureteroplasty or ureteroureterostomy is one of the optimal treatments for ureteral polyp at present.The surgical method should be determined according to the number of polyps,the length and the diameter of the affected ureter,and also the status of renal function of the patients. | Han Chu Yongsheng Cao Qifei Deng | 2021 | World Journal of Pediatric Surgery2021,4,1: | 1 |
| 19 | Histology and antitumor activity study of PTX-loaded micelle,a fluorescent drug delivery system prepared by PEG-TPP显示文摘We synthesized PEG-TPP as carrier to encapsulate paclitaxel (PTX) in the form of micelles to overcome its water-solubility problem. PTX-loaded micelles possess a-week stability and appropriate particle size (152.1 ±1.2 nm) which is beneficial for enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect. Strong pH dependence of PTX releasing from micelles is verified by in vitro release study. At cellular level, PTX-loaded micelles can target mitochondria effectively which may results a better cytotoxicity of micelles (especially IC50 = 0.123 ± 0.035μmol/L of micelles and 0.298 ± 0.067μmol/L of PTX alone on MCF-7 cells). The fluorescence distributions of both isolated and sliced organs show that the micelles can effectively target tumors. Moreover, we further prove the enhanced therapeutic effects of micelles in tumor-bearing mice comparing with PTX alone. | 20 | One-Pot Three-Dimensional Printing Robust Self-Supporting MnO_(x)/Cu-SSZ-13 Zeolite Monolithic Catalysts for NH_(3)-SCR显示文摘Honeycomb cordierite coated with Cu-SSZ-13 zeolite is widely used for the selective catalytic reduction of NO_(x) with NH_(3)(NH_(3)-SCR)to reduce pollutants from vehicle emissions.However,conventional honeycomb catalysts fabricated via coating techniques are limited by low zeolite loadings,loss of the deposited zeolites,and complicated preparation processes.Herein,a facile,one-step three-dimensional(3D)printing strategy is developed to construct MnO_(x)/Cu-SSZ-13 monolithic catalysts with excellent catalytic performance for NH_(3)-SCR.Iron-containing halloysite nanotubes(Fe-HNTs)are introduced as printing ink additives to ensure mechanical stability and modulate the NH_(3)-SCR performance of monolithic catalysts in high temperature conditions.In situ incorporation of Mn into the Cu-SSZ-13 zeolite monoliths during the 3D printing process boosts the mechanical strength of the monolithic structures from 2.54 MPa to 4.33 MPa as well as broadens the temperature window(165-550℃)of the catalysts for NH_(3)-SCR with NO_(x) conversion of above 80%.Such robust multicomponent-integrated 3D-printed selfsupporting catalysts not only possess high zeolite loading and excellent catalytic activity,but also avoid complicated manufacturing processes,which contrasts with conventional honeycomb catalysts fabricated by extrusion coupled with coating. | Yingzhen Wei Mengyang Chen Xiaoyu Ren Qifei Wang Jinfeng Han Wenzheng Wu Xiangguang Yang Shuang Wang Jihong Yu | 2022 | CCS Chemistry2022,4,5: | 1 |
