| 1 | Current development in wearable glucose meters显示文摘Diabetes is one of the most disturbing chronic diseases in the world. The improvement of treatment efficiency brought by self-monitoring of blood glucose can relieve symptoms and reduce complications,which is considered as the gold standard of diabetes diagnosis and nursing. Compared to the traditional finger pricking measurement with painful and discontinuous processes, continuous blood glucose monitoring(CGM) presents superior advantages in wearable and continuous assessment of blood glucose levels. However, widely used implantable CGM systems at present require implantation operation and are highly invasive, so it is hard to be accepted by users. Except for the blood, available fluids in humans,such as interstitial fluid(ISF), sweat, tears and saliva, also contain glucose associated with blood sugar and can be extracted more easily. Therefore, these more accessible fluids are expected to realize minimized traumatic blood glucose monitoring. This review introduces the latest development of wearable minimally-/non-invasive CGM device, focusing on the types of blood substitute biological fluid and suitable monitoring approaches. We also analysis the merits and drawbacks of each method, and discuss the properties such as sensitivity, stability and convenience of each meter. | 2 | Health Inequalities during 20 Years of Rapid Economic Development in China (1980-2000):A Mortality Analysis显示文摘Objective To examine the influence of China's economic reforms on population health and regional mortality rates.Methods Longitudinal study measuring the mortality trends and their regional variations.Using data from the three most recent national censuses,we used the model life table to adjust the mortality levels within the population for each census,and to calculate life expectancy.We then examined the variation in patterns of mortality and population health by economic status,region and gender from 1980-2000.Results Life expectancy varied with economic status,province,and gender.Results showed that,although life expectancy in China had increased overall since the early 1980s,regional differences became more pronounced.Life expectancy for populations who live in the eastern coastal provinces are greater than those in the western regions.Conclusion Differences in life expectancy are primarily related to differences in regional economic development,which in turn exacerbate regional health inequalities.Therefore,it is necessary to improve economic development in less developed regions and to improve health policies and the public health system that address the needs of everyone. | ZHENG XiaoYing SONG XinMing CHEN Gong YOU YunZhong REN Qiang LIU JuFen ZHANG Lei TAN LingFang WEI JiHong CHEN QiuYuan | 2011 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2011,24,4: | 2 |
| 3 | Stress corrosion cracking behaviors of RE-containing ME21 magnesium alloy processed by equal-channel angular pressing显示文摘A commercial as-cast ME21 magnesium alloy containing rare-earth (RE) element was processed by equalchannel angular pressing to obtain fine-grained micro structure. Stress corrosion cracking (SCC) behaviors of the fine-grained samples were studied by slow-strain-rate testing in air, distilled water and Hanks’solution at the strain rate of 1×10^(-6) s^(-1). All samples show a relatively low SCC sensitivity in distilled water but a great SCC tendency in Hanks’ solution. The microscopic observations of the fracture surfaces and the side surfaces reveal obvious active anodic dissolution and hydrogen embrittlement cracks, which indicate the higher SCC susceptibility in Hanks'solution. | 8 | Endorepellin downregulation promotes angiogenesis after experimental traumatic brain injury显示文摘Endorepellin plays a key role in the regulation of angiogenesis,but its effects on angiogenesis after traumatic brain injury are unclear.This study explored the effects of endorepellin on angiogenesis and neurobehavioral outcomes after traumatic brain injury in mice.Mice were randomly divided into four groups:sham,controlled cortical impact only,adeno-associated virus(AAV)-green fluorescent protein,and AAV-shEndorepellin-green fluorescent protein groups.In the controlled cortical impact model,the transduction of AAV-shEndorepellin-green fluorescent protein downregulated endorepellin while increasing the number of CD31+/Ki-67+proliferating endothelial cells and the functional microvessel density in mouse brain.These changes resulted in improved neurological function compared with controlled cortical impact mice.Western blotting revealed increased expression of vascular endothelial growth factor and angiopoietin-1 in mice treated with AAV-shEndorepellin-green fluorescent protein.Synchrotron radiation angiography showed that endorepellin downregulation promoted angiogenesis and increased cortical neovascularization,which may further improve neurobehavioral outcomes.Furthermore,an in vitro study showed that downregulation of endorepellin increased tube formation by human umbilical vein endothelial cells compared with a control.Mechanistic analysis found that endorepellin downregulation may mediate angiogenesis by activating vascular endothelial growth factor-and angiopoietin-1-related signaling pathways. | Qian Zhang Yao Jing Qiuyuan Gong Lin Cai Ren Wang Dianxu Yang Liping Wang Meijie Qu Hao Chen Yaohui Tang Hengli Tian Jun Ding Zhiming Xu | 2024 | Neural Regeneration Research2024,19,5: | 0 |
