| 2 | History and possible mechanisms of prehistoric human migration to the Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Prehistoric human history on the Tibetan Plateau is a hotly debated topic. Archaeological research on the plateau during the past few decades has enormously improved our understanding of the topic and makes it possible for us to consider the processes and mechanisms of prehistoric human migration to the region. By reviewing the published archaeological research on the Tibetan Plateau, we propose that the first people on the plateau initially spread into the He-Huang region from the Chinese Loess Plateau, and then moved to the low elevation Northeastern Tibetan Plateau and perhaps subsequently to the entire plateau. This process consisted of four stages.(1) During the climatic amelioration of the Last Deglacial period(15–11.6 ka BP), Upper Paleolithic hunter-gatherers with a developed microlithic technology first spread into the Northeastern Tibetan Plateau.(2) In the early-mid Holocene(11.6–6 ka BP), Epipaleolithic microlithic hunter-gatherers were widely distributed on the northeastern plateau and spread southwards to the interior plateau, possibly with millet agriculture developed in the neighboring low elevation regions.(3) In the mid-late Holocene(6–4 ka BP), Neolithic millet farmers spread into low elevation river valleys in the northeastern and southeastern plateau areas.(4) In the late Holocene(4–2.3 ka BP), Bronze Age barley and wheat farmers further settled on the high elevation regions of the Tibetan Plateau, especially after 3.6 ka BP. | 3 | Application of next-generation sequencing technology to precision medicine in cancer: joint consensus of the Tumor Biomarker Committee of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology显示文摘Next-generation sequencing(NGS) technology is capable of sequencing millions or billions of DNA molecules simultaneously.Therefore, it represents a promising tool for the analysis of molecular targets for the initial diagnosis of disease, monitoring of disease progression, and identifying the mechanism of drug resistance. On behalf of the Tumor Biomarker Committee of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology(CSCO) and the China Actionable Genome Consortium(CAGC), the present expert group hereby proposes advisory guidelines on clinical applications of NGS technology for the analysis of cancer driver genes for precision cancer therapy. This group comprises an assembly of laboratory cancer geneticists, clinical oncologists, bioinformaticians,pathologists, and other professionals. After multiple rounds of discussions and revisions, the expert group has reached a preliminary consensus on the need of NGS in clinical diagnosis, its regulation, and compliance standards in clinical sample collection. | 4 | Simulated-sunlight-activated photocatalysis of Methylene Blue using cerium-doped SiO_2/TiO_2 nanostructured fibers显示文摘Cerium-doped SiO 2 /TiO 2 nanostructured fibers were fabricated by electrospinning technology.The prepared fibers were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis(TGA),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR).Using the fibers as catalysts,photocatalytic degradation of Methylene Blue(MB) aqueous solution was carried out under simulated sunlight.The 0.2% Ce doping proved to be the optimal concentration for the doping of TiO 2 /SiO 2,compared to other Ce-doped molar concentrations.The 0.2% Ce-doped SiO 2 /TiO 2 fibers exhibited higher photocatalytic activity than industrial Degussa P25 and the samples doped with only Ce or SiO 2.The reasons for improving the photocatalytic activity were also discussed.Several operational parameters were studied,which showed that the photocatalytic efficiency of MB was influenced by parameters such as the initial dye concentration,the initial pH,inorganic anions,and so on.In addition,the influences of an electron acceptor and a radical scavenger suggested that OH was the dominant photooxidant during the photocatalytic process.The reuse evaluation of the fibers indicated that their photocatalytic activity had good stability. | Yu Liu Hongbing Yu Zhenning Lv Sihui Zhan Jiangyao Yang Xinhong Peng Yixuan Ren Xiaoyan Wu | 2012 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,10: | 10 |
| 5 | Optimization of mechanical properties, biocorrosion properties and antibacterial properties of wrought Ti-3Cu alloy by heat treatment显示文摘Previous study has shown that Ti-3Cu alloy shows good antibacterial properties(>90%antibacterial rate),but the mechanical properties still need to be improved.In this paper,a series of heat-treatment processes were selected to adjust the microstructure in order to optimize the properties of Ti-3Cu alloy.Microstructure,mechanical properties,biocorrosion properties and antibacterial properties of wrought Ti-3Cu alloy at different conditions was systematically investigated by X-ray diffraction,optical microscope,scanning electron microscope,transmission electron microscopy,electrochemical measurements,tensile test,fatigue test and antibacterial test.Heat treatment could significantly improve the mechanical properties,corrosion resistance and antibacterial rate due to the redistribution of copper elements and precipitation of Ti2Cu phase.Solid solution treatment increased the yield strength from 400 to 740MPa and improved the antibacterial rate from 33%to 65.2%while aging treatment enhanced the yield strength to 800e850MPa and antibacterial rate(>91.32%).It was demonstrated that homogeneous distribution and fine Ti2Cu phase plays a very important role in mechanical properties,corrosion resistance and antibacterial properties. | Mianmian Bao Ying Liu Xiaoyan Wang Lei Yang Shengyi Li Jing Ren Gaowu Qin Erlin Zhang | 2018 | Bioactive Materials2018,3,1: | 7 |
| 6 | Comparison of the short-term and long-term outcomes of laparoscopic hysterectomies and of abdominal hysterectomies: a case study of 4,895 patients in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China显示文摘Background: To evaluate the short-term and long-term outcomes after laparoscopic hysterectomy(LH) compared with abdominal hysterectomy(AH) in case of benign gynecological disease. Methods: A multi-center cohort retrospective comparative study of population among 4,895 hysterectomies(3,539 LH vs.1,356 AH) between 2007 and 2013 was involved. Operative time(OT), estimated blood loss(EBL), intra-operative and post-operative complications, passing flatus; days with indwelling catheter, questionnaires covering pelvic floor functions and sexual functions were assessed.Results: The EBL(174.1±157.4 vs. 263.1±183.2 cc, LH and AH groups, respectively), passing flatus(38.7±14.1 vs. 48.1±13.2 hours), days with indwelling catheter(1.5±0.6 vs. 2.2±0.8 days), use of analgesics(6.5% vs. 73.1%), intra-operative complication rate(2.4% vs. 4.1%), post-operative complication rate(2.3% vs. 5.7%), post-operative constipation(12.1% vs. 24.6%), mild and serious stress urinary incontinence(SUI) post-operative(P<0.001; P=0.014), and proportion of Female Sexual Functioning Index(FSFI) total score <26.55 post-operative(P<0.001) of the LH group were significantly less than those of AH group. There wereno significant differences in OT(106.5±34.5 vs. 106.2±40.3 min) between the two groups.Conclusions: LH is a safe and efficient operation for improving patients' long-term quality of life(Qo L), and LH is a cost-effectiveness procedure for treating benign gynecological disease. | 7 | Pigsties near dwellings as a potential risk factor for the prevalence of Japanese encephalitis virus in adult in Shanxi,China显示文摘Background:The increasing trend of adult cases of Japanese encephalitis(JE)in China,particularly in northern China,has become an important public health issue.We conducted an epidemiological investigation in the south of Shanxi Province to examine the relationships between mosquitoes,Japanese encephalitis virus(JEV),and adult JE cases.Methods:Mosquito specimens were collected from the courtyards of farmers’households and pig farms in Shanxi Province.Mosquitoes were pooled,homogenized,and centrifuged.Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)was used to detect mosquito-borne arbovirus genes in homogenates.Specimens positive for these genes were inoculated into the baby hamster kidney cell line(BHK-21)to isolate virus.Minimum infection rate was calculated and phylogenetic analyses were performed.Results:A total of 7943 mosquitoes belonging to six species in four genera were collected;Culex tritaeniorhynchus accounted for 73.08%(5805/7943),C.pipiens pallens for 24.75%(1966/7943),and the remaining 3%(104/7943)consisted of Anopheles sinensis,Aedes vexans,Ae.dorsalis,and Armigeres subalbatus.Sixteen pools were positive for JEV based on RT-PCR using JEV pre-membrane gene nested primers.Phylogenetic analyses showed that all JEVs belonged to genotype I;two pools were positive using Getah Virus(GETV)gene primers.In addition,one JEV strain(SXYC1523)was isolated from C.pipiens pallens specimens.These results indicate that the minimum infection rate of JEV in mosquito specimens collected from the courtyards of farmers’households with pigsties was 7.39/1000;the rate for pig farms was 2.68/1000;and the rate for farmers’courtyards without pigsties was zero.Conclusions:The high-prevalence regions of adult JE investigated in this study are still the natural epidemic focus of JEV.Having pigsties near dwellings is a potential risk factor contributing to the prevalence of adult JE.To prevent the occurrence of local adult JE cases,a recommendation was raised that,besides continuing to implement the Expanded Program on Immunization for children,the government should urge local farmers to cease raising pigs in their own courtyards to reduce the probability of infection with JEV. | Xiaojie Ren Shihong Fu Peifang Dai Huanyu Wang Yuanyuan Li Xiaolong Li Wenwen Lei Xiaoyan Gao Ying He Zhi Lv Jingxia Cheng Guiqin Wang Guodong Liang | 2017 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2017,6,1: | 6 |

| 9 | Combination of hydrophobically modified γ-poly(glutamic acid)and trehalose achieving high cryosurvival of RBCs显示文摘Trehalose is expected to be an alternative for toxic glycerol as a biocompatible cryoprotectant of red blood cells(RBCs).In this work,γ-poly(glutamic acid)(PGA)is modified by grafting hydrophobic phenethylamine,3,4-dimethoxyphenylethylamine and dodecylamine,respectively.The graft-modified PGA can significantly enhance cryosurvival of RBCs in combination with trehalose.Analyses of dynamic light scattering,hemolysis assay,atomic force microscope and confocal laser scanning microscope suggest that the modified PGA polymers can self-assemble into nanoparticles in phosphate buffer saline solutions at the pH range of 6.0–7.4,and exhibit membrane-disruptive activity due to hydrogen bond,conjugation and hydrophobic interactions with cell membranes.It is assumed that the modified PGA polymers can improve the cryosurvival of RBCs by promoting membrane permeability of trehalose.Among the three graft-modified polymers,phenethylamine-grafted PGA(PGA-g-PEA)can significantly increase the intracellular trehalose-loading content to 11.3±2.4 m M at pH 7.4,much higher than the value0.17±0.66 m M when trehalose is used without any polymers.In view of the aforementioned merit,the cryosurvival rate of sheep RBCs is increased to about 90%by incubation with 1.0 mg mL-1 PGA-g-PEA and 0.36 M trehalose.In vitro cell culture of L929 fibroblasts demonstrates low cytotoxicity of PGA-g-PEA.Therefore,hydrophobic PEA-modified PGA with enhanced intracellular trehalose-loading ability can be potentially applied in glycerol-free RBC cryopreservation or other related biomacromolecule delivery systems. | ZHANG QiFa LIU Bo CHONG JingHui REN LiXia ZHAO YunHui YUAN XiaoYan | 2021 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,4: | 4 |
| 10 | Optimal design on the high-temperature mechanical properties of porous alumina ceramics based on fractal dimension analysis显示文摘Fractal theory and regression analysis were employed for the first time to investigate the effect of pore size and pore distribution on high-temperature mechanical properties of porous alumina ceramics(PAC). In the present work, PAC with the comparable porosity, different pore sizes and pore distributions were prepared using carbon black as the pore-forming agent. Particular emphasis in this study was placed on the establishment of correlation between the thermal shock resistance and pore properties. The relationship between fractal dimension(D_f) and thermal shock resistance parameter(R_(st)) in specimens presented the negative power function, indicating that low D_f could benefit the improvement of thermal shock resistance in specimens. The results showed that the increase of pore size and pore sphericity leads to a reduced D_f, the enhanced hot modulus of rupture(HMOR) and R_(st). The decrease of proportion of micro-pores below 2 μm, the increase of mean pore size and pore sphericity could result in the decrease of D_f, and then improve R_(st) and HMOR of specimens. | 12 | Hepatic encephalopathy complicated with hyponatremia and acid-base disturbance and its prognosis显示文摘Objective:To improve the diagnosis and therapeutic effect of occurrence and development of hyponatremia and disorder of acid-base balance among patients with hepatic encephalopathy(HE) by elucidating the regularity and mechanism,as well as its influence on prognosis.Methods:327 HE patients admitted to our hospital from January 1990 to June 2010 were enrolled.Meanwhile 316 patients hospitalized in the medical department of the same hospital were chosen as the control group.Patients in both groups were given the same methods to measure arterial blood gas parameters(pH value,PaCO2,[HCO3-],TCO2,BE and SaO2),blood biochemistry([Na+],[K+],[Cl-]),liver function,kidney function and blood glucose,serum sodium,and thereupon tocalculate the anion gap(AG) and the potential [HCO3-],and acid-base balance disorder.Results:Among the 327 HE patients,hyponatremia was found in 188 cases(57.4%),of whom 132 patients died(70.2%).While among the 316 patients in control group,68 presented with hyponatremia(21.5%),and 19 died(27.9%).The incidence and mortality were significantly different between the two groups(P<0.001).All the 327 patients presented with different degrees of acid-base balance disorder and 178 died(54.4%),in whom 164(50.2%) belonged to simple acid-base balance disorder and 74(45.1%) died,136(41.6%) were dual acid-base balance disorder and 80(58.8%) died,27(8.2%) were triple acid-base disturbance and 24(88.9%) died.Whereas in the control group only 83 patients(26.2%) were recognized as simple and dual acid-base balance disorder,and 18(21.7%) died.There was higher incidence of acid-base balance disorder and mortality rate in HE group than control one(P<0.001).Conclusion:Hyponatremia is valuable to judge HE patients' prognosis.The key parameters in the judgment and evaluation on acid-base balance disorder among HE patients are the change of pH values and serum electrolyte values.When pH value ≤ 7.30 or > 7.55,it generally suggests a poor prognosis. | Ren Chengshan Wang Lei Zhao Xiaoyan Yang Shiming Zhang Yanqi Wang Xiwen Bo Jianying Zhang Pengbin Guo Hong Ling Xianlong Li Yihui Da Siping Xie Xia Ren Wei Li Chunhua Qian Guisheng | 2012 | Journal of Medical Colleges of PLA(China)2012,27,3: | 3 |
| 13 | The NPR1-WRKY46-WRKY6 signaling cascade mediates probenazole/salicylic acid-elicited leaf senescence in Arabidopsis thaliana显示文摘Endogenous salicylic acid(SA) regulates leaf senescence, but the underlying mechanism remains largely unexplored. The exogenous application of SA to living plants is not efficient for inducing leaf senescence. By taking advantage of probenazole(PBZ)-inducedbiosynthesisof endogenous SA, we previously established a chemical inducible leaf senescence system that depends on SA biosynthesis and its core signaling receptor NPR1 in Arabidopsis thaliana. Here,using this system, we identified WRKY46 and WRKY6 as key components of the transcriptional machinery downstream of NPR1 signaling. Upon PBZ treatment, the wrky46 mutant exhibited significantly delayed leaf senescence. We demonstrate that NPR1 is essential for PBZ/SA-induced WRKY46 activation, whereas WRKY46 in turn enhances NPR1 expression. WRKY46 interacts with NPR1 in the nucleus, binding to the W-box of the WRKY6 promoter to induce its expression in response to SA signaling. Dysfunction of WRKY6 abolished PBZ-induced leaf senescence, while overexpression of WRKY6 was sufficient to accelerate leaf senescence even under normal growth conditions, suggesting that WRKY6 may serve as an integration node of multiple leaf senescence signaling pathways. | 14 | Investigation and experimental validation of curcumin-related mechanisms against hepatocellular carcinoma based on network pharmacology显示文摘Objective:To determine the potential molecular mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effect of curcumin on hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)by network pharmacology and experimental in vitro validation.Methods:The predictive targets of curcumin or HCC were collected from several databases.the identified overlapping targets were crossed with Gene Ontology(GO)and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)analyses using the Database for Annotation,Visualization,and Integrated Discovery(DAVID)platform.Two of the candidate pathways were selected to conduct an experimental verification.The 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide tetrazolium(MTT)assay was used to determine the effect of curcumin on the viability of Hep G2 and LO2 cells.The apoptosis and autophagy of Hep G2 cells were respectively detected by flow cytometry and transmission electron microscopy.Besides,western blot and real-time polymerase chain reaction(PCR)were employed to verify the p53 apoptotic pathway and adenosine 5’-monophosphate(AMP)-activated protein kinase(AMPK)autophagy pathway.Hep G2 cells were pretreated with pifithrin-α(PFT-α)and GSK690693 for further investigation.Results:The 167 pathways analyzed by KEGG included apoptosis,autophagy,p53,and AMPK pathways.The GO enrichment analysis demonstrated that curcumin was involved in cellular response to drug,regulation of apoptotic pathway,and so on.The in vitro experiments also confirmed that curcumin can inhibit the growth of Hep G2 cells by promoting the apoptosis of p53 pathway and autophagy through the AMPK pathway.Furthermore,the protein and messenger RNA(m RNA)of the two pathways were downregulated in the inhibitor-pretreated group compared with the experimental group.The damage-regulated autophagy modulator(DRAM)in the PFT-α-pretreated group was downregulated,and p62 in the GSK690693-pretreated group was upregulated.Conclusions:Curcumin can treat HCC through the p53 apoptotic pathway and the AMPK/Unc-51-like kinase 1(ULK1)autophagy pathway,in which the mutual transformation of autophagy and apoptosis may occur through DRAM and p62. | Yang CHEN Qian LI Sisi REN Ting CHEN Bingtao ZHAI Jiangxue CHENG Xiaoyan SHI Liang SONG Yu FAN Dongyan GUO | 2022 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2022,23,8: | 3 |

| 16 | PEG-asparaginase in BFM-90 regimen improves outcomes in adults with newly diagnosed lymphoblastic lymphoma显示文摘Objective: Although L-asparaginase(L-ASP) is a standard treatment for lymphoblastic lymphoma(LBL),hypersensitivity reactions by some patients limit its application. Polyethylene glycol-conjugated asparaginase(PEGASP) has a lower immunogenicity and is a standard treatment in all pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia(ALL).In this study, we investigated the efficacy and toxicity of PEG-ASP instead of L-ASP as used in the BFM-90regimen(PEG-ASP-BFM-90) for adult LBL.Methods: Between June 2012 and July 2015, we treated 30 adult patients with newly diagnosed LBL, using PEGASP-BFM-90 in a prospective, multicenter and single-arm clinical study at 5 participating institutions in China.Results: All the 30 patients, including 19 males and 11 females with a median age of 30(range: 18–62) years,completed 128 times of the PEG-ASP, with the median of 4(range: 2–6) times. Patients did not receive radiotherapy at this time. The overall response rate was 86.7%(26/30), with 50.0%(15/30) complete response and36.7%(11/30) partial response. The 3-year overall survival was 46.0% [95% confidence interval(95% CI),28.2%–64.8%], and the 3-year progression-free survival was 43.0%(95% CI, 25.7%–62.0%). Major adverse events were myelosuppression, reduced fibrinogen, liver dysfunction and digestive tract toxicities. No allergic reaction and no treatment-related mortality or severe complications were recorded.Conclusions: Our clinical data and observed outcomes indicate that 1 dose of PEG-ASP can replace multiple doses of native L-ASP in BFM-90, with predominantly grade 3–4 neutropenia for adult LBL, and no therapyrelated deaths. The effect is similar to previous reports of PEG-ASP-containing regimens for adult ALL.
