1桉树叶凋落物对树林和农作物的他感作用(英文)显示文摘调查了土壤中配以不同量的桉树叶凋落物对温室条件生长的常见作物和树木的他感作用。用于生物鉴定物种包括三种常见农作物(Falen(Vigna unguiculata),Chickpea(Cicer arietinum),Arhor(Cajanus cajan))和两种广泛栽植树种(Sadakoroi(Albizia procera)and Ipil ipil(Leucaena leucocephala))。实验材料在室温(27°C)条件下用托盘培养,混以不同剂量的凋落物的土壤培养材料的各项指标与对照比较。结果表明,桉树凋落叶诱导抑制作用,且该作用依赖于萃取物和凋落物浓度,受作用物种类型。实验用材料的剂量越高,抑制作用则越高,反之,亦然。尽管生物鉴定种均受到抑制,其中仍有表现较好的种。基于本实验结果,推荐Vigna unguiculata,Cicer arietinum种于复合农林系统中。在混交林中,Leucaena leucochephala和Albizia procera比较,优先选择Leucaena leucochephala。图4表7参39。Romel Ahmed A. 2Analysis of immune responses against H pylori in rabbits显示文摘AIM: To investigate the immunogenicity of H pylori proteins, to evaluate the production rate of anti H pylori IgG antibodies in relation to time and to demonstrate the fidelity of newly optimized in-house enzyme- linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique as an alternative for H pylori infection assay. METHODS: In the present study, 100 μg of formalin- fixed H pylori whole cell antigens was injected into an experimental animal (New Zealand white female rabbit) intramuscularly on d 0, 16, 27 and 36. The first two doses were injected with adjuvants. On d 0, a serum sample was collected from the rabbit before immunization and this pre-immunized serum was used as a negative control for the whole study. To evaluate the immunogenic responses of the injected antigen, serum samples were collected from the rabbit at regular intervals up to d 42. The sera were analyzed using in- house ELISA and Western blot techniques. RESULTS: The production of anti H pylori IgG antibodies in the rabbit in response to the injected antigen increased almost exponentially up to d 14 and after that it was maintained at the same level until the last day (d 42). By analyzing the immune profiles of immunized sera, 11 proteins were identified to be immunogenic, among them 2 (approximately 100 kDa and 85 kDa) were most prominent. CONCLUSION: Analysis of the immune responses against pathogenic microorganisms like H pylori is necessary for the development of various diagnostic and preventive approaches. The results of this experiment reveal that the formalin-fixed H pylori whole cell antigens injected into the rabbit are highly immunogenic. These prominent proteins (approximately 100 kDa and 85 kDa) might have higher immunogenic effects among humansinfected with H pylori and some of these immunogenic proteins can be included in diagnostic approaches based on serology and also for vaccine formulation. 3Polyethylene glycol functionalized carbon nanotubes/gelatin-chitosan nanocomposite: An approach for significant drug release显示文摘This research work blooms the new idea of developing a safe and controlled drug releasing matrix using multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs).In aqueous solution,uniform and highly stable dispersion of MWCNTs was obtained after secondary functionalization with polyethylene glycol(PEG)which was studied by Fourier transmission infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA).Solution casting method was used to prepare MWCNTs/gelatin-chitosan nanocomposite films and the effect of MWCNTs on physico-mechanical,thermal and water uptake properties of the nanocomposites were evaluated.Incorporation of MWCNTs into the porous gelatin-chitosan matrix showed interesting stiffness and dampness along with developed microfibrillar structures within the pore walls intended at being used in tissue engineering of bone or cartilage.A common antibiotic drug,ciprofloxacin was incorporated into nanocomposite matrix.The evaluation of the effect of MWCNTs on drug release rate by dissolution test and antimicrobial susceptibility test was performed.Sharp release of the drug was found at early stages(~1 h),but the rate was reduced afterwards,showing a sustained release.It was observed that for all microorganisms,the antibacterial activities of drug loaded MWCNTs/gelatin-chitosan nanocomposites were higher than that of drug loaded gelatin-chitosan composite films containing no MWCNTs.Comparative statistical studies by ANOVA techniques also showed remarkable difference between the antibacterial activities,exhibited by MWCNTs-incorporated and non-incorporated composite films.Sadia Sharmeen A.F.M.Mustafizur Rahman Mostakima M.Lubna Kh Samaher Salem Rafiqul Islam Mubarak A.Khan 2018Bioactive Materials2018,3,3:3
4Effect of Al Doping on Structural, Electrical, Optical and Photoluminescence Properties of Nano-Structural ZnO Thin Films显示文摘The nano-structural Al-doped ZnO thin films of different morphologies deposited on glass substrate were successfully fabricated at substrate temperature of 350 C by an inexpensive spray pyrolysis method. The structural, electrical, optical and photoluminescence properties were investigated. X-ray diffraction study revealed the crystalline wurtzite (hexagonal) structure of the films with nano-grains. Scanning electron mi- croscopy (SEM) micrographs indicated the formation of a large variety of nano-structures during film growth. The spectral absorption of the films occurred at the absorption edge of ~410 nm. In the present study, the optical band gap energy 3.28 eV of ZnO decreased gradually to 3.05 eV for 4 mol% of Al doping. The deep level activation energy decreased and carrier concentrations increased substantially with increasing doping. Exciting with the energy 3.543 eV (λ=350 nm), a narrow and a broad characteristic photoluminescence peaks that correspond to the near band edge (NBE) and deep level emissions (DLE), respectively emerged.M. 5Effects of cross-anisotropy and stress-dependency of pavement layers on pavement responses under dynamic truck loading显示文摘Previous studies by the authors have determined pavement responses under dynamic loading considering cross-anisotropy in one layer only,either the cross-anisotropic viscoelastic asphalt concrete(AC)layer or the cross-anisotropic stress-dependent base layer,but not both.This study evaluates pavement stressestrain responses considering cross-anisotropy in all layers,i.e.AC,base and subbase,using finite element modeling(FEM) technique.An instrumented pavement section on Interstate I-40 near Albuquerque,New Mexico was used in ABAQUS framework as model geometry.Field asphalt cores were collected and tested in the laboratory to determine the cross-anisotropy(n-values) defined by horizontal to vertical modulus ratio,and other viscoelastic parameters as inputs of the model incorporated through user defined material interface(UMAT) functionality in ABAQUS.Field base and subbase materials were also collected and tested in the laboratory to determine stress-dependent nonlinear elastic model parameters,as inputs of the model,again incorporated through UMAT.The model validation task was carried out using field-measured deflections and strain values under falling weight deflectometer(FWD)loads at the instrumented section.The validated model was then subjected to an actual truck loading for studying cross-anisotropic effects.It was observed that horizontal tensile strain at the bottom of the AC layer and vertical strains in all layers decreased with an increase in n-value of the asphalt layer,from n<1(anisotropy) to n=1(isotropy).This indicates that the increase in horizontal modulus caused the decrease in layer strains.It was also observed that if the base and subbase layers were considered stressdependent instead of linear elastic unbound layers,the horizontal tensile strain at the bottom of the asphalt layer increased and vertical strains on top of the base and subbase also increased.Rafiqul A.Tarefder Mesbah U.Ahmed Asifur Rahman 2016Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2016,8,3:2
6Comparative analysis of metabolite changes in two contrasting rice genotypes in response to low-nitrogen stress显示文摘Identification of metabolites responsible for tolerance to low nitrogen availability(low-N)will aid in the genetic improvement of rice yield under nitrogen deficiency.In this study,a backcross introgression line(G9)and its recurrent parent Shuhui 527(SH527),which show differential responses to low-N stress,were used to identify metabolites associated with lowN tolerance in rice.Differences in metabolite contents in the leaves of G9 and SH527 at three growth stages under low-N stress were assessed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry.Many metabolites,including amino acids and derivatives,were highly enriched in G9 compared with SH527 under the control condition,suggesting that the two genotypes had basal metabolite differences.Low-N stress induced genotype-specific as well as growth stagedependent metabolite changes.Metabolites induced specifically in G9 that were involved in glycolysis and tricarboxylic acid metabolism were enriched at the tillering and grain filling stages,and metabolites involved in nitrogen and proline metabolism were enriched at the booting stage.Enrichment of pyroglutamate,glutamate,2-oxoglutarate,sorbose,glycerate-2-P,and phosphoenolpyruvic acid in G9 suggests that these metabolites could be involved in low-N stress tolerance.The results presented here provide valuable information for further elucidation of the molecular mechanisms of low-N tolerance in crops.Xiuqin Zhao Wensheng Wang Ziyan Xie Yongming Gao Chunchao Wang Muhammed Mahbubur Rashid Mohammad Rafiqul Islam Binying Fu Zhikang Li 2018The Crop Journal2018,6,5:2
7Carbon mineralization in subtropical alluvial arable soils amended with sugarcane bagasse and rice husk biochars显示文摘Subtropical recent alluvial soils are low in organic carbon(C).Thus,increasing organic C is a major challenge to sustain soil fertility.Biochar amendment could be an option as biochar is a C-rich pyrolyzed material,which is slowly decomposed in soil.We investigated C mineralization(CO_(2)-C evolution)in two types of soils(recent and old alluvial soils)amended with two feedstocks(sugarcane bagasse and rice husk)(1%,weight/weight),as well as their biochars and aged biochars under a controlled environment(25±2℃)over 85 d.For the recent alluvial soil(charland soil),the highest absolute cumulative CO_(2)-C evolution was observed in the sugarcane bagasse treatment(1140 mg CO_(2)-C kg^(-1)soil)followed by the rice husk treatment(1090 mg CO_(2)-C kg^(-1)soil);the lowest amount(150 mg CO_(2)-C kg^(-1)soil)was observed in the aged rice husk biochar treatment.Similarly,for the old alluvial soil(farmland soil),the highest absolute cumulative CO_(2)-C evolution(1290 mg CO_(2)-C kg^(-1)soil)was observed in the sugarcane bagasse treatment and then in the rice husk treatment(1270 mg CO_(2)-C kg^(-1)soil);the lowest amount(200 mg CO_(2)-C kg^(-1)soil)was in the aged rice husk biochar treatment.Aged sugarcane bagasse and rice husk biochar treatments reduced absolute cumulative CO_(2)-C evolution by 10%and 36%,respectively,compared with unamended recent alluvial soil,and by 10%and 18%,respectively,compared with unamended old alluvial soil.Both absolute and normalized C mineralization were similar between the sugarcane bagasse and rice husk treatments,between the biochar treatments,and between the aged biochar treatments.In both soils,the feedstock treatments resulted in the highest cumulative CO_(2)-C evolution,followed by the biochar treatments and then the aged biochar treatments.The absolute and normalized CO_(2)-C evolution and the mineralization rate constant of the stable C pool(K_(s))were lower in the recent alluvial soil compared with those in the old alluvial soil.The biochars and aged biochars had a negative priming effect in both soils,but the effect was more prominent in the recent alluvial soil.These results would have good implications for improving organic matter content in organic C-poor alluvial soils.Mohammad Arifur RAHMAN Mohammad Abdul KADER Mohammad JAHIRUDDIN Mohammad Rafiqul ISLAM Zakaria Mohammad SOLAIMAN 2022Pedosphere2022,32,3:2
8Hybrid Data-Driven and Mechanistic Modeling Approaches for Multiscale Material and Process Design显示文摘The world’s increasing population requires the process industry to produce food,fuels,chemicals,and consumer products in a more efficient and sustainable way.Functional process materials lie at the heart of this challenge.Traditionally,new advanced materials are found empirically or through trial-and-error approaches.As theoretical methods and associated tools are being continuously improved and computer power has reached a high level,it is now efficient and popular to use computational methods to guide material selection and design.Due to the strong interaction between material selection and the operation of the process in which the material is used,it is essential to perform material and process design simultaneously.Despite this significant connection,the solution of the integrated material and process design problem is not easy because multiple models at different scales are usually required.Hybrid modeling provides a promising option to tackle such complex design problems.In hybrid modeling,the material properties,which are computationally expensive to obtain,are described by data-driven models,while the well-known process-related principles are represented by mechanistic models.This article highlights the significance of hybrid modeling in multiscale material and process design.The generic design methodology is first introduced.Six important application areas are then selected:four from the chemical engineering field and two from the energy systems engineering domain.For each selected area,state-ofthe-art work using hybrid modeling for multiscale material and process design is discussed.Concluding remarks are provided at the end,and current limitations and future opportunities are pointed out.Teng Zhou Rafiqul Gani Kai Sundmacher 2021Engineering2021,7,9:2

13Reduced tillage with residue retention improves soil labile carbon pools and carbon lability and management indices in a seven-year trial with wheat-mung bean-rice rotation显示文摘Soil total organic carbon(TOC)is a composite indicator of soil quality with implications for crop production and the regulation of soil ecosystem services.Research reports on the dynamics of TOC as a consequence of soil management practices in subtropical climatic conditions,where microbial carbon(C)loss is high,are very limited.The objective of our study was to evaluate the impact of seven years of continuous tillage and residue management on soil TOC dynamics(quantitative and qualitative)with respect to lability and stratification under an annual wheat-mung bean-rice cropping sequence.Composite soil samples were collected at 0-15 and 15-30 cm depths from a three-replicate split-plot experiment with tillage treatment as the main plots and crop residue levels as the sub-plots.The tillage treatments included conventional tillage(CT)and strip tillage(ST).Residue levels were high residue level(HR),30%of the plant height,and low residue level(LR),15%.In addition to TOC,soil samples were analyzed for particulate organic C(POC),permanganate oxidizable C(POXC),basal respiration(BR),specific maintenance respiration rate(qCO_(2)),microbial biomass C(MBC),potentially mineralizable C(PMC),and TOC lability and management indices.The ST treatment significantly increased the TOC and labile C pools at both depths compared with the CT treatment,with the effect being more pronounced in the surface layer.The HR treatment increased TOC and labile C pools compared with the LR treatment.The ST+HR treatment showed significant increases in MBC,metabolic quotient(qR),C pool index(CPI),C lability index(CL_(I)),and C management index(CMI),indicating improved and efficient soil biological activities in such systems compared with the CT treatment.Similarly,the stratification values,a measure of soil quality improvement,for POC and MBC were>2,indicating improved soil quality in the ST+HR treatment compared with the CT treatment.The ST+HR treatment not only significantly increased the contents of TOC pools,but also their stocks.The CMI was correlated with qCO_(2),BR,and MBC,suggesting that these are sensitive indicators of early changes in TOC.The qCO_(2) was significantly higher in the CT+LR treatment and negatively correlated with MBC and CMI,indicating a biologically stressed soil condition in this treatment.Our findings highlight that medium-term reduced tillage with HR management has profound consequences on soil TOC quality and dynamics as mediated by alterations in labile C pools.Rafeza BEGUM Mohammad M.R.JAHANGIR Mohammad JAHIRUDDIN Mohammad Rafiqul ISLAM Shaikh M.BOKHTIAR Khandakar R.ISLAM 2022Pedosphere2022,32,6:1
