1Oral berberine improves brain dopa/dopamine levels to ameliorate Parkinson’s disease by regulating gut microbiota显示文摘The phenylalanine-tyrosine-dopa-dopamine pathway provides dopamine to the brain.Iin this process,tyrosine hydroxylase(TH)isthe rate-limiting enzyme that hydroxylates tyrosine and generates levodopa(L-dopa)with tetranydrobiopterin(BH_(4))as a coenzyme.Here,we show that oral berberine(BBR)might supply H^(·) through dihydroberberine(reduced BBR produced by bacterial nitroreductase)and promote the production of BHl from dihydrobiopterin;the increased BH,enhances TH activity,which accelerates the production of L-dopa by the gut bacteria.Oral BBR acts in a way similar to vitamins.The L-dopa produced by theintestinal bacteria enters the brain through the circulation and is transformed to dopamine.To verify the gut-brain dialog activatedby BBR's effect,Enterococcus foecalis or Enterococcus faecium was transplanted into Parkinson's disease(PD)mice.The bacteriasignificantly increased brain dopamine and ameliorated PD manifestation in mice;additionally,combination of BBR with bacteriashowed better therapeutic effect than that with bacteria alone.Moreover,2,4,6-trimethy-pyranylium tetrafluoroborate(TMP-TFB)-derivatized matrix-assisted laser desorption mass spectrometry(MALDI-MS)imaging of dopamine identihed elevated striataldopamine levels in mouse brains with oral Enterococcus,and BBR strengthened the imaging intensity of brain dopamine.Theseresults demonstrated that BBR was an agonist of TH in Enterococcus and could lead to the production of L-dopa in the gut.Furthermore,a study of 28 patients with hyperlipidemia conhrmed that oral BBR increased bloodfecal L-dopa by the intestinalbacteria.Hence,BBR might improve the brain function by upregulating the biosynthesis of-dopa in the gut microbiota through avitamin-like effect.Yan Wang Qian Tong Shu-Rong Ma Zhen-Xiong Zhao Li-Bin Pan Lin Cong Pei Han Ran Peng Hang Yu Yuan Lin Tian-Le Gao Jia-Wen Shou Xiao-Yang Li Xian-Feng Zhang Zheng-Wei Zhang Jie Fu Bao-Ying Wen Jin-Bo Yu Xuetao Cao Jian-Dong Jiang 2021Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2021,6,3:16
2Toward an improved data stewardship and service for environmental and ecological science data in West China显示文摘Sharing of scientific data can help scientific research to flourish and facilitate more widespread use of scientific data for the benefit of society.The Environmental and Ecological Science Data Center for West China(WestDC),sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC),aims to collect,manage,integrate,and disseminate environmental and ecological data from western China.It also aims to provide a long-term data service for multidisciplinary research within NSFC’s‘‘Environment and Ecology of West China Research Plan’’(NSFC West Plan).An integrated platform has been developed by the WestDC,and this has the function of data sharing,acting as a knowledge repository.Major data sets developed by the WestDC include basic geographic data,the regionalization of global data set for China,scientific data for cold and arid regions in China,scientific data for the cryosphere in countries that neighbor China,data relating to the inland river basins in northwestern China,and data submitted by the NSFC West Plan projects.In compliance with the‘‘full and open’’data sharing policy,most data in the WestDC can be accessed online.Highlights include detailed data documentation,the integration of data with bibliographic knowledge,data publishing,and data reference.Xin Li Zhuotong Nan Guodong Cheng Yongjian Ding Lizong Wu Liangxu Wang Jian Wang Youhua Ran Hongxing Li Xiaoduo Pan Zhongming Zhu 2011International Journal of Digital Earth2011,4,4:11
3Preparation of nitric humic acid by catalytic oxidation from Guizhou coal with catalysts显示文摘Nitric humic acid was prepared by catalytic oxidation between nitric acid and Guizhou coal, with added catalysts. We investigated catalytic oxidation processes and the factors that affect the reactions. The effects of different catalysts, including NiSO 4 support on active carbon (AC-NiSO 4 ), NiSO 4 support on silicon dioxide (SiO 2 -NiSO 4 ), composites of SO 4 2à /Fe 2 O 3 , Zr-iron and vanadium-iron composite were studied. As well, we investigated nitric humic acid yields and the chemical structure of products by element analysis, FT-IR and E4/E6 (an absorbance ratio at wavelengths of 465 and 665 nm of humic acid alkaline extraction solutions). The results show that the catalytic oxidation reaction with added catalysts can increase humic acid yields by 18.7%, 16.36%, 12.94%, 5.61% and 8.59%, respectively. The highest yield of humic acid, i.e., 36.0%, was obtained with AC-NiSO 4 as the catalyst. The amounts of C and H decreased with the amount of nitrogen. The increase in the E4/E6 ratio in catalytic oxidation of (Guizhou) coal shows that small molecular weights and high yields of nitric humic acid can be obtained by catalytic oxidation reactions.Yang Zhiyuan Gong Liang Ran Pan 2012International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2012,22,1:9

5Interleukin-17 plays a critical role in the acute rejection of intestinal transplantation显示文摘AIM:To investigate the role of interleukin(IL)-17 in small bowel allograft rejection.METHODS:We detected the expression of helper T cell 17(Th17)cells in biopsy specimens from 3 cases of living small bowel transplantation in our department through immunofluorescence stain.We then established a rat heterotopic small bowel transplantation model.The rats were sacrificed on the 1st,2nd,3rd,5th, and 7th d after small bowel transplantation.The degrees of transplantation rejection in rat intestine graft were examined through hematoxylin eosin(HE)stain, and the expression of Th17 cells in rat intestine graft were detected through immunofluorescence stain. In addition,the recipient rats undergoing intestinal transplantation were administrated with mouse-anti-rat IL-17 monoclonal antibody(mAb),and the survival of rats was analyzed.The recipient rats which received mouse-anti-rat IL-17 mAb treatment were sacrificed on the 1st,2nd,3rd,5th,and 7th d after small bowel transplantation.The degrees of transplantation rejection and the expression of Th17 cells in rat intestine graft were detected through HE and immunofluorescence stain. The expression of IL-17,IL-1β,tumor necroses factor receptor-α(TNF-α),IL-6,and IL-8 in the intestine graft or serum were also detected. RESULTS:The expressions of Th17 cells ran parallel with the degree of acute rejection in human intestine grafts.The intestine graft rejection of rats was aggravated with prolonged duration after intestinal transplantation,and the expressions of Th17 cells were also correlated with the degree of acute rejection in rat intestine grafts.Administration of mouse-anti-rat IL-17 mAb prolonged the survival of rats after small bowel transplantation(P<0.001).Furthermore,we found that the administration of mouse-anti-rat IL-17 mAb significantly decreased the intensity of CD4+IL-17+Th17 cells in intestine grafts on the 2nd,3rd,5th,and the 7th d (97.22±4.05vs 12.45±2.02 on the 7th d,P<0.0001), and suppressed the severity of acute rejection.The expression of IL-17 in the intestine graft declined after mouse-anti-rat IL-17 mAb administration on the 2nd,3rd,5th,and the 7th d(0.88±0.03 vs 0.35±0.02 on the 7th d,P<0.0001).We also detected the IL-17 serum level and found that the IL-17 level reduced from the 1st d to the 7th d(6.52±0.18 ng/mL vs 2.04±0.15 ng/mL on the 7th d,P<0.0001).No significant difference in the level of IL-17 mRNA in the intestine graft was identified between the two groups.The levels of IL-1β,TNF-α, IL-6,and IL-8 mRNA in the intestine graft after the administration of mouse-anti-rat IL-17 mAb were also tested.We found that on the 3rd,5th,and 7th d after intestinal transplantation,administration of mouse-anti- rat IL-17 mAb significantly inhibited the levels of IL-1β (12.11±1.16 vs 1.27±0.15 on the 7th d,P<0.001), TNF-α(27.37±2.60 vs 1.06±0.26 on the 7th d,P< 0.001),IL-6(21.43±1.79 vs 1.90±0.32 on the 7th d, P<0.001),and IL-8(20.44±1.44 vs 1.34±0.20 on the 7th d,P<0.001)mRNA in the intestine graft. 6Berberine treats atherosclerosis via a vitamine-like effect downregulating Choline-TMA-TMAO production pathway in gut microbiota显示文摘Trimethylamine-N-oxide(TMAO)derived from the gut microbiota is an atherogenic metabolite.This study investigates whether or not berberine(BBR)could reduce TMAO production in the gut microbiota and treat atherosclerosis.Effects of BBR on TMAO production in the gut microbiota,as well as on plaque development in atherosclerosis were investigated in the culture of animal intestinal bacterial,HFD-fed animals and atherosclerotic patients,respectively.We found that oral BBR in animals lowers TMAO biosynthesis in intestine through interacting with the enzyme/co-enzyme of choline-trimethylamine lyase(CutC)and flavincontaining monooxygenase(FMO)in the gut microbiota.This action was performed by BBR’s metabolite dihydroberberine(a reductive BBR by nitroreductase in the gut microbiota),via a vitamine-like effect down-regulating Choline-TMA-TMAO production pathway.Oral BBR decreased TMAO production in animal intestine,lowered blood TMAO and interrupted plaque formation in blood vessels in the HFD-fed hamsters.Moreover,21 patients with atherosclerosis exhibited the average decrease of plaque score by 3.2%after oral BBR(0.5 g,bid)for 4 months(^(*)P<0.05,n=21);whereas the plaque score in patients treated with rosuvastatin plus aspirin,or clopidogrel sulfate or ticagrelor(4 months,n=12)increased by 1.9%.TMA and TMAO in patients decreased by 38 and 29%in faeces(^(*)P<0.05;^(*)P<0.05),and 37 and 35%in plasma(^(***)P<0.001;^(*)P<0.05),after 4 months on BBR.BBR might treat atherosclerotic plaque at least partially through decreasing TMAO in a mode of action similar to that of vitamins.Shu-Rong Ma Qian Tong Yuan Lin Li-Bin Pan Jie Fu Ran Peng Xian-Feng Zhang Zhen-Xiong Zhao Yang Li Jin-Bo Yu Lin Cong Pei Han Zheng-Wei Zhang Hang Yu Yan Wang Jian-Dong Jiang 2022Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,8:6
7A cross-sectional study of acute cor pulmonale in acute respiratory distress syndrome patients in China显示文摘Background:Increased right ventricle afterload during acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS)may induce acute cor pulmonale(ACP),which is associated with a poor clinical outcome.Echocardiography is now considered as a rapid and non-invasive tool for diagnosis of ACP.The aims of this study were to investigate the morbidity and mortality rates of ACP in ARDS patients in intensive care units(ICUs)across the mainland of China and to determine the severity and prognosis of ACP in ARDS patients through an ultrasound protocol(TRIP).And the association between ACP related factors and the ICU mortality will be revealed.Methods:This study is a multicenter and cross-sectional study in China which will include ICU participants when diagnosed as ARDS.The ultrasound protocol,known as the TRIP,is proposed as severity assessment for ACP,which includes tricuspid regurgitation velocity(T),right ventricular size(R),inferior vena cava diameter fluctuation(I),and pulmonary regurgitation velocity(P).The 28-day mortality,ICU/hospital mortality,the length of stay in ICU,mechanical ventilation days,hemodynamic parameters and lab parameters of liver function and kidney function are all recorded.Discussion:This large-scale study would give a sufficient epidemic investigation of ACP in ARDS patients in China.In addition,with the TRIP protocol,we expect that we could stratify ACP with more echocardiography parameters.Long-Xiang Su Xiu-Ling Shang Ran Zhu Wei He Pan Pan Hong-Min Zhang Li-Na Zhang Da-Wei Liu Rong-Guo Yu Xiao-Ting Wang 2019Chinese Medical Journal2019,,23:6
8Advancement in separation materials for blood purification therapy显示文摘Blood purification refers to the extra corporeal therapies of removing potentially toxic substances, in which blood is circulated through an adsorption system loading separation materials. High-efficient inexpensive separation materials are critical to success. In this review, separation materials such as polymers and nanomaterials are summarized and compared. Combining the advantages of the adsorptive membranes and nanomaterials, organic–inorganic hybrid/blend membranes have been developed explosively. These hybrid/blend membranes have both the characteristics of high permeability, easy fabrication, good biocompatibility of adsorptive membranes, and characteristics of fast adsorption rate and high adsorption capacity of nanomaterials. The preparation and modification methodology of the separation materials is reviewed. For affinity separation materials, the relationship of ligand chemistry, ligand density and pores of the matrix is discussed. 9Ultrathin 2D Metal–Organic Framework Nanosheets In situ Interpenetrated by Functional CNTs for Hybrid Energy Storage Device显示文摘The controllable construction of two-dimensional(2D)metal–organic framework(MOF)nanosheets with favorable electrochemical performances is greatly challenging for energy storage.Here,we design an in situ induced growth strategy to construct the ultrathin carboxylated carbon nanotubes(C-CNTs)interpenetrated nickel MOF(Ni-MOF/C-CNTs)nanosheets.The deliberate thickness and specific surface area of novel 2D hybrid nanosheets can be effectively tuned via finely controlling C-CNTs involvement.Due to the unique microstructure,the integrated 2D hybrid nanosheets are endowed with plentiful electroactive sites to promote the electrochemical performances greatly.The prepared Ni-MOF/C-CNTs nanosheets exhibit superior specific capacity of 680 C g^−1 at 1 A g^−1 and good capacity retention.The assembled hybrid device demonstrated the maximum energy density of 44.4 Wh kg^−1 at a power density of 440 W kg^−1.Our novel strategy to construct ultrathin 2D MOF with unique properties can be extended to synthesize various MOF-based functional materials for diverse applications.Feitian Ran Xueqing Xu Duo Pan Yuyan Liu Yongping Bai Lu Shao 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,4:5

12DDX3X regulates cell survival and cell cycle during mouse early embryonic development显示文摘DDX3X is a highly conserved DEAD-box RNA helicase that participates in RNA transcription,RNA splicing,and mRNA transport,translation,and nucleo-cytoplasmic transport.It is highly expressed in metaphaseⅡ(MⅡ)oocytes and is the predominant DDX3 variant in the ovary and embryo.However,whether it is important in mouse early embryo development remains unknown.In this study,we investigated the function of DDX3X in early embryogenesis by cytoplasmic microinjection with its siRNA in zygotes or single blastomeres of 2-cell embryos.Our results showed that knockdown of Ddx3x in zygote cytoplasm led to dramatically diminished blastocyst formation,reduced cell numbers,and an increase in the number of apoptotic cells in blastocysts.Meanwhile,there was an accumulation of p53 in RNAi blastocysts.In addition,the ratio of cell cycle arrest during 2-cell to 4-cell transition increased following microinjection of Ddx3x siRNA into single blastomeres of 2-cell embryos compared with control.These results suggest that Ddx3x is an essential gene associated with cell survival and cell cycle control in mouse early embryos,and thus plays key roles in normal embryo development.Qian Li Pan Zhang Chao Zhang Ying Wang Ru Wan Ye Yang Xuejiang Guo Ran Huo Min Lin Zuomin Zhou Jiahao Sha 2014The Journal of Biomedical Research2014,28,4:4
13Observation and measurement of applied anatomical features for thoracic intervertebral foramen puncture on computed tomography images显示文摘BACKGROUND Thoracic intervertebral foramen puncture is the key step for interventional therapy on the thoracic nerve roots or dorsal root ganglia.The anatomical features of the thoracic spine are complex,and puncture injury to the pleura,blood vessels,spinal cord,and other tissues may cause serious complications.The spatial anatomical characteristics and related parameters for thoracic intervertebral foramen puncture remain poorly understood.AIM To observe and summarize the spatially applied anatomical characteristics for intervertebral foramen puncture on different vertebral segments.METHODS A total of 88 patients(41 males and 47 females)who underwent thoracic minimally invasive interventional treatment at Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital from January 2019 to June 2020 were included.Computed tomography images of 167 thoracic vertebral segments scanned in the prone position were collected.The width of the intertransverse space(D_(P)),the height of the rib neck/head above the lower transverse process(D_(R)),the width of the lateral border of the articular process/lamina(W_(P)),and the width of the posterior border of the vertebral body(W_(V))were measured.At the upper 1/3 of the intervertebral foramina,the horizontal inclination angle(α)from the lateral border of the articular process/lamina to the posterolateral border of the vertebral body was measured.The ratios D_(R)/D_(P) and W_(P)/W_(V) were calculated.The intervertebral foramen parameters were compared between segments.RESULTS No rib head/neck occlusion(D_(R)/D_(P)>0)was found in the intertransverse spaces of T1-2 and T12-L1.The incidence of occlusion for the upper thoracic segments(T1-5,n=138),middle thoracic segments(T5-9,n=116),and lower thoracic segments(T9-L1,n=80)were 76.81%,100%,and 82.50%,respectively.The incidence of occlusion for the middle thoracic segments was significantly higher than that for the upper and lower thoracic segments(P<0.05).The incidence of>1/2 occlusion(D_(R)/D_(P)>1/2)for the upper,middle,and lower thoracic segments was 7.97%,74.14%,and 32.50%,respectively.The incidence of>1/2 occlusion for the middle thoracic segments was significantly higher than that for the upper and lower thoracic segments(P<0.05).W_(P) was longer than W_(V) on T1-2 to T9-10 and shorter than W_(V) on T10-11 to T12-L1.The horizontal puncture angle(α)into the external opening of the intervertebral foramina was positively correlated with the segments of the thoracic vertebrae from the cephalic to caudal portion(left:r=0.772,P<0.01;right:r=0.771,P<0.01),and the horizontal inclination angle for T11-12 and T12-L1 was 90°.CONCLUSION It is necessary to identify the spatial impact of the rib head/neck on the puncture path of the intervertebral foramina and design appropriate puncture angles for different segments.Ran Wang Wei-Wei Sun Ying Han Xiao-Xue Fan Xue-Qin Pan Shi-Chong Wang Li-Juan Lu 2021World Journal of Clinical Cases2021,9,18:3
14Progress on major genes for high fecundity in ewes显示文摘The existence of major genes affecting fecundity in sheep flocks throughout the world has been demonstrated.Three major genes whose mutations can increase ovulation rate have been discovered,and all related to the transforming growth factorβ(TGF-β)superfamily.The mutant FecB of bone morphogenetic protein receptor 1B(BMPR1B)has an additive effect on ovulation rate.Six mutations(Fec^(XI),Fec^(XH),Fec^(XG),Fec^(XB),Fec^(XL),Fec^(XR))of bone morphogenetic protein 15(BMP15)related with fertility have been identified that share the same mechanism.All the mutants can increase ovulation rate in heterozygotes and cause complete sterility in homozygotes.Homozygous ewes with two new mutations(FecX^(Gr),FecX^(O))of BMP15 had increased ovulation rate without causing sterility.There are five mutations in growth differentiation factor 9(GDF9)associated with sheep prolificacy where FecG^(E) and FecG^(F) have additive an effect on ovulation rate and litter size.The newly identifiedβ-1,4-N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 2(B4GALNT2)gene of FecL is proposed as a new mechanism of ovulation rate regulation in sheep.Woodlands is an X-linked maternally imprinted gene which increases ovulation rate.In addition,several putative major genes need to be verified.This review is focused on the identification of the mutations and mechanisms whereby the major genes affecting ovulation rate.Qiuyue LIU Zhangyuan PAN Xiangyu WANG Wenping HU Ran DI Yaxing YAO Mingxing CHU 2014Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2014,1,4:3
15Ni/MgO catalyst prepared using atmospheric high-frequency discharge plasma for CO_2 reforming of methane显示文摘A new type of Ni/MgO catalyst was prepared using atmospheric high-frequency discharge cold plasma. The influences of conventional method, plasma method, and plasma plus calcination method on the catalytic activity were studied and the CO2 reforming of methane was chosen as the probe reaction. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and CO2 temperature-programmed surface reaction techniques. The results suggested that the nickel-based catalyst prepared by plasma plus calcination method possessed a smaller particle size and a higher dispersion of active component, better low-temperature activity and enhanced anti-coking ability. 16Room temperature ferromagnetism of Si-doped ZnO thin films prepared by sol-gel method显示文摘Pure ZnO and Si-doped ZnO thin films were deposited on quartz substrate by using sol-gel spin coating process. X-ray diffraction analysis shows that all the thin films have hexagonal wurtzite structure and preferred c-axis orientation. Si-doped ZnO films show room temperature ferromagnetism (RTFM) and reach the maximum saturation magnetization value of 1.54 kAm-1 at 3% Siconcentration. RTFM of Si-doped ZnO decreases with the increasing annealing temperature because of the formation of SiO 2 . Photoluminescence measurements suggest that the RTFM in Si-doped ZnO can be attributed to the defect complex related to zinc vacancies V Zn and oxygen interstitials Oi .M. 18Transformation of berberine to its demethylated metabolites by the CYP51 enzyme in the gut microbiota显示文摘Berberine(BBR)is an isoquinoline alkaloid extracted from Coptis chinensis that improves diabetes,hyperlipidemia and inflammation.Due to the low oral bioavailability of BBR,its mechanism of action is closely related to the gut microbiota.This study focused on the CYP51 enzyme of intestinal bacteria to elucidate a new mechanism of BBR transformation by demethylation in the gut microbiota through multiple analytical techniques.First,the docking of BBR and CYP51 was performed;then,the pharmacokinetics of BBR was determined in ICR mice in vivo,and the metabolism of BBR in the liver,kidney,gut microbiota and single bacterial strains was examined in vitro.Moreover,16S rRNA analysis of ICR mouse feces indicated the relationship between BBR and the gut microbiota.Finally,recombinant E.coli containing cyp51 gene was constructed and the CYP51 enzyme lysate was induced to express.The metabolic characteristics of BBR were analyzed in the CYP51 enzyme lysate system.The results showed that CYP51 in the gut microbiota could bind stably with BBR,and the addition of voriconazole(a specific inhibitor of CYP51)slowed down the metabolism of BBR,which prevented the production of the demethylated metabolites thalifendine and berberrubine.This study demonstrated that CYP51 promoted the demethylation of BBR and enhanced its intestinal absorption,providing a new method for studying the metabolic transformation mechanism of isoquinoline alkaloids in vivo.Zheng-Wei Zhang Lin Cong Ran Peng Pei Han Shu-Rong Ma Li-Bin Pan Jie Fu Hang Yu Yan Wang Jian-Dong Jiang 2021Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2021,11,5:2

20Image Augmentation-Based Food Recognition with Convolutional Neural Networks显示文摘Image retrieval for food ingredients is important work,tremendously tiring,uninteresting,and expensive.Computer vision systems have extraordinary advancements in image retrieval with CNNs skills.But it is not feasible for small-size food datasets using convolutional neural networks directly.In this study,a novel image retrieval approach is presented for small and medium-scale food datasets,which both augments images utilizing image transformation techniques to enlarge the size of datasets,and promotes the average accuracy of food recognition with state-of-the-art deep learning technologies.First,typical image transformation techniques are used to augment food images.Then transfer learning technology based on deep learning is applied to extract image features.Finally,a food recognition algorithm is leveraged on extracted deepfeature vectors.The presented image-retrieval architecture is analyzed based on a smallscale food dataset which is composed of forty-one categories of food ingredients and one hundred pictures for each category.Extensive experimental results demonstrate the advantages of image-augmentation architecture for small and medium datasets using deep learning.The novel approach combines image augmentation,ResNet feature vectors,and SMO classification,and shows its superiority for food detection of small/medium-scale datasets with comprehensive experiments.Lili Pan Jiaohua Qin Hao Chen Xuyu Xiang Cong Li Ran Chen 2019Computers, Materials & Continua2019,,4:2
