1Advancement in separation materials for blood purification therapy显示文摘Blood purification refers to the extra corporeal therapies of removing potentially toxic substances, in which blood is circulated through an adsorption system loading separation materials. High-efficient inexpensive separation materials are critical to success. In this review, separation materials such as polymers and nanomaterials are summarized and compared. Combining the advantages of the adsorptive membranes and nanomaterials, organic–inorganic hybrid/blend membranes have been developed explosively. These hybrid/blend membranes have both the characteristics of high permeability, easy fabrication, good biocompatibility of adsorptive membranes, and characteristics of fast adsorption rate and high adsorption capacity of nanomaterials. The preparation and modification methodology of the separation materials is reviewed. For affinity separation materials, the relationship of ligand chemistry, ligand density and pores of the matrix is discussed. 2The Combined Effect of Plastic Particles Size and Concentration on Rotifers’ (Brachionus plicatilis) Performance显示文摘The presence of microplastics in aquatic ecosystems is of increasing global concern.Nano-sized plastics,in particular,can penetrate the cell membrane and cause biological death.Our study evaluated the combined impacts of several polystyrene mi-crospheres’sizes and nominal concentrations on the overall performance changes of Brachionus plicatilis.Experimental animals were exposed to three microplastic sizes(0.08,0.5 and 6μm)and five nominal concentrations(0,0.5,2,8,32μg mL−1)for 20 d.Our results showed that the toxicological effect of particle size on rotifers did not significantly depend on the nominal concentration.The interaction between the nominal concentration and size occurred only for body length and lorica width.Specifically,high nominal concentrations of microplastics that were close to nanometer size significantly impaired the overall vitality of rotifers,embodied in shortage of body type,delay in the arrival of maturity,reduction in the cumulative number of neonates,and the advance of the death process.In comparison,fair-sized size(0.5 and 6μm)displayed non-significant damage except for individual groups.Most notably,the net reproductive yield was only a third of what it was in the original environment,implying that there was not much fertility left.Besides,with the development of rotifers,the adverse effects of polystyrene microsphere drive had become more and more serious.SUI Yanming WANG Senyang MOHSEN Mohamed ZHANG Longsheng SHEN Mengyan LIU Zhiquan NGUYEN Haidang ZHANG Shengmao LI Kaixing LV Linlan DONG Xuexing 2022Journal of Ocean University of China2022,21,2:3

6The Comparison of Cold tolerance of Three Species of Evergreen Broad-leaved Woody Plants显示文摘[Objectives]This study aimed to select evergreen broad-leaved woody plants with higher ornamental value and stronger cold tolerance for introduction from the south to the north,and to apply them to urban greening,so as to enrich the plant community structure of the landscape in the northern region.[Methods]Three species of evergreen broad-leaved woody plants,i.e.,Ligustrum lucidum,Ilex cornuta and Eriobotrya japonica,were selected as the experimental materials.The morphological performances and the changes of the physiological indexes were observed and measured during the overwintering period in the open field in Beijing.The relationship between the indexes and the low temperature was also analyzed.The strength of cold tolerance of the three species was compared.[Results]The electrical conductivity,the contents of MDA and proline were negatively correlated with the corresponding low temperature.The contents of soluble sugar and soluble protein increased with the dropping temperature,but they had little response to the short-term temperature rise.[Conclusions]Combined with morphological and physiological indexes,it was found that the changes of the contents of proline and soluble sugar among the physiological indexes were closely related to the cold tolerances of the three tree species of broad-leaved woody plants.The cold tolerance of I.cornuta was the strongest,E.japonica was the second,and that of L.lucidum was the worst.Sifan LI Mengyan LI Runfang ZHANG Pingsheng LENG Man SHEN 2021Agricultural Biotechnology2021,10,2:1

10Kinetic Limits of Graphite Anode for Fast‑Charging Lithium‑Ion Batteries显示文摘Fast-charging lithium-ion batteries are highly required,especially in reducing the mileage anxiety of the widespread electric vehicles.One of the biggest bottlenecks lies in the sluggish kinetics of the Li^(+)intercalation into the graphite anode;slow intercalation will lead to lithium metal plating,severe side reactions,and safety concerns.The premise to solve these problems is to fully understand the reaction pathways and rate-determining steps of graphite during fast Li^(+)intercalation.Herein,we compare the Li^(+)diffusion through the graphite particle,interface,and electrode,uncover the structure of the lithiated graphite at high current densities,and correlate them with the reaction kinetics and electrochemical performances.It is found that the rate-determining steps are highly dependent on the particle size,interphase property,and electrode configuration.Insufficient Li^(+)diffusion leads to high polarization,incomplete intercalation,and the coexistence of several staging structures.Interfacial Li^(+)diffusion and electrode transportation are the main rate-determining steps if the particle size is less than 10μm.The former is highly dependent on the electrolyte chemistry and can be enhanced by constructing a fluorinated interphase.Our findings enrich the understanding of the graphite structural evolution during rapid Li^(+)intercalation,decipher the bottleneck for the sluggish reaction kinetics,and provide strategic guidelines to boost the fast-charging performance of graphite anode.Suting Weng Gaojing Yang Simeng Zhang Xiaozhi Liu Xiao Zhang Zepeng Liu Mengyan Cao Mehmet Nurullah Ateş Yejing Li Liquan Chen Zhaoxiang Wang Xuefeng Wang 2023Nano-Micro Letters2023,15,11:1

19Fine-tuning brassinosteroid biosynthesis via 3′UTR-dependent decay of CPD mRNA modulates wood formation in Populus显示文摘Brassinosteroids(BRs)are plant hormones that regulate wood formation in trees.Currently,little is known about the post-transcriptional regulation of BR synthesis.Here,we show that during wood formation,fine-tuning BR synthesis requires 3′UTR-dependent decay of Populus CONSTITUTIVE PHOTOMORPHOGENIC DWARF 1(PdCPD1).Overexpression of PdCPD1 or its 3′UTR fragment resulted in a significant increase of BR levels and inhibited secondary growth.In contrast,transgenic poplars repressing PdCPD13′UTR expression displayed moderate levels of BR and promoted wood formation.We show that the Populus GLYCINE-RICH RNA-BINDING PROTEIN1(PdGRP1)directly binds to a GU-rich element in 3′UTR of Pd CPD1,leading to its mRNA decay.We thus provide a post-transcriptional mechanism underlying BRs synthesis during wood formation,which may be useful for genetic manipulation of wood biomass in trees.Dian Wang Xiaoning Hao Li Xu Mengyan Zhao Congpeng Wang Xihao Yu Yingzhen Kong Mengzhu Lu Gongke Zhou Guohua Chai Xianfeng Tang 2023Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2023,65,8:0
20Multiplex genome editing targeting soybean with ultra-low anti-nutritive oligosaccharides显示文摘Soybean is the primary source of plant protein for humans.Owing to the indigestibility of the raffinose family of oligosaccharides(RFO),raffinose and stachyose are considered anti-nutritive factors in soybean seeds.Low-RFO soybean cultivars are generated by mutagenesis of RFO biosynthesis genes,but the carbohydrate profiles invite further modification to lower RFOs.This study employed a pooled multiplex genome editing approach to target four seed-specifically expressed genes mediating RFO biosynthesis,encoding three raffinose synthases(RS2,RS3,and RS4)and one stachyose synthase.In T1progeny,rs2/rs3 and rs4/sts homozygous double mutants and a rs2/rs3/rs4/sts quadruple mutant(rfo-4m)were characterized.The rs2/rs3 mutant showed reduced raffinose and stachyose contents,but the rs4/sts mutant showed only reduced stachyose in seeds.The RFO contents in the rfo-4m mutant were almost eliminated.Metabolomic analysis showed that the mutation of four RFO biosynthesis genes led to a shift of metabolic profile in the seeds,including the accumulation of several oligosaccharides-related metabolites.These mutants could contribute to precision breeding of soybean cultivars for soy food production.Wenxin Lin Huaqin Kuang Mengyan Bai Xiaomeng Jiang Pengfei Zhou Yinghua Li Bo Chen Huarong Li Yuefeng Guan 2023The Crop Journal2023,11,3:0
