1Strength and failure characteristics of brittle jointed rock-like specimens under uniaxial compression:Digital speckle technology and a particle mechanics approach显示文摘The strength and failure characteristics of most natural rock mass are influenced by discontinues such as fissures, joints, and weak surfaces. In the present study, the strength and failure behavior of ubiquitousjoint rock-like specimens under uniaxial loading have been investigated by DIC(digital image correlation) and discrete element numerical method(PFC2 D). The results are obtained. Firstly, the UCSJof specimens with c = 15° or 30° shows similar tendency while a goes from 0° to 75°. With c = 45° or 60°, the UCSJof specimens increases when a goes from 0° to 30° and decreases after a goes beyond 30°. With c = 75°, the peak UCSJvalue is reached when a = 0°. The UCSJvalue shows an increasing trend when a goes from 60° to 75°. Secondly, the ubiquitous-joint specimens present different failure modes for various levels of a and c(b-a). 2Fabrication of kW-level chirped and tilted fiber Bragg gratings and filtering of stimulated Raman scattering in high-power CW oscillators显示文摘Suppression of stimulated Raman scattering(SRS)by means of chirped and tilted fiber Bragg gratings(CTFBGs)has become a key topic.However,research on high-power systems is still lacking due to two problems.Firstly,after the inscription,there are a large number of hydroxyl compounds and hydrogen molecules in CTFBGs that cause significant heating due to their strong infrared absorption.Secondly,CTFBGs can couple Stokes light from the core to the cladding and the coating,which causes serious heating in the coating of the CTFBG.Aimed at overcoming these bottlenecks,a process that combines constant-low-temperature and variable-high-temperature annealing is used to reduce the thermal slope of the CTFBG.Also,a segmented-corrosion cladding power stripping technology is used on the CTFBG to remove the Stokes light which is coupled to the cladding,which solves the problem of overheating in the coating of the CTFBG.Thereby,a CTFBG with both a kilowatt-level power-carrying load and the ability to suppress SRS in a fiber laser has been developed.Further,we establish a kW-level CW oscillator to test the CTFBG.Experimental results demonstrate that the power-carrying load of the CTFBG is close to 1 kW,the thermal slope is lower than 0.015 ℃/W,and the SRS suppression ratio is nearly 23 dB.Kerong Jiao Jian Shu Hua Shen Zhiwen Guan Feiyan Yang Rihong Zhu 2019High Power Laser Science and Engineering2019,7,2:9
3Support technology of deep roadway under high stress and its application显示文摘Roadway instability has been a major concern in the fields of mining engineering. This paper aims to provide practical and efficient strategy to support the roadways under high in-situ stress. A case study on the stability of deep roadways was carried out in an underground mine in Gansu province, China. Currently,the surrounding rock strata is extremely fractured, which results in a series of engineering disasters, such as side wall collapse and severe floor heave in the past decades. Aiming to solve these problems, an improved support method was proposed, which includes optimal bolt parameters and arrangement, floor beam layout by grooving, and full length grouting. Based on the modeling results by FLAC3D, the new support method is much better than the current one in terms of preventing the large deformation of surrounding rock and restricting the development of plastic zones. For implementation and verification, field experiments, along with deformation monitoring, were conducted in the 958 level roadway of Mining II areas. The results show that the improved support can significantly reduce surrounding rock deformation, avoid frequent repair, and maintain the long-term stability of the roadway. 4Long-term variations of X-ray pulse profiles for the Crab pulsar:data analysis and modeling显示文摘The pulse profiles of the Crab pulsar(as well as some other pulsars)vary with time.They can lead to a major source of intrinsic timing noise,which lacks a detailed physical model.The phase separation?between the first left peak(P1)and the second right peak(P2)is a key parameter that shows the variations of pulse profiles for the Crab pulsar.It was found that the evolution of?has a tendency with increasing rates of 0.82?±0.25?,0.80?±0.54?,and 0.77?±0.28?per century for the 2-6,6-15,and15-60 ke V bands,respectively.Furthermore,the flux ratios(P2/P1)of X-ray pulse profiles in the three bands were calculated,and the derived flux ratios were consistent with the radio and X-ray measurements of the Insight-HXMT.In addition to discovering the physical origin of the pulse changes,the high-SNR X-ray pulse profiles were simulated in the annular gap model,and two model parameters(e.g.,the maximum emission heights of the two peaks)were observed to slightly affect the variations of peak separation.We fitted the long-term variations of emission heights of the two peaks and discovered that the emission heights showed increasing tendencies with time.Variations of these emission heights induced a characteristic period derivative,and a complete formula for both the magnetic dipole radiation and wind-particle-induced variations of the moment of inertia was used for the pulsar’s spin-down to obtain the variation rate˙αof the magnetic inclination angle,which was-1.60?per century.Intrinsic timing noise is observed to be mainly induced by the variations of pulse profiles,which might correlate with a characteristic spin period derivative arising from the fluctuations of the emission regions.This work will lay a foundation for understanding the origin of intrinsic timing noise and making high-precision timing models in the future.LunHua Shang YuanJie Du XiangQun Cui ShiJun Dang JiGuang Lu JunTao Bai QiJun Zhi YouLi Tuo LinLi Yan LiangWei Huang XinYuan Zhang XiaoMin Bei QingQing Lin GuoJun Qiao Hua Shen RiHong Zhu 2020Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2020,63,10:2
5Utilizing phase-shifted long-period fiber grating to suppress spectral broadening of a high-power fiber MOPA laser system显示文摘Suppressing nonlinear effects in high-power fiber lasers based on fiber gratings has become a hotspot.At present,research is mainly focused on suppressing stimulated Raman scattering in a high-power fiber laser.However,the suppression of spectral broadening,caused by self-phase modulation or four-wave mixing,is still a challenging attribute to the close distance between the broadened laser and signal laser.If using a traditional fiber grating with only one stopband to suppress the spectral broadening,the signal power will be stripped simultaneously.Confronting this challenge,we propose a novel method based on phase-shifted long-period fiber grating(PS-LPFG)to suppress spectral broadening in a high-power fiber master oscillator power amplifier(MOPA)laser system in this paper.A PS-LPFG is designed and fabricated on 10/130 passive fiber utilizing a point-by-point scanning technique.The resonant wavelength of the fabricated PS-LPFG is 1080 nm,the full width at half maximum of the passband is 5.48 nm,and stopband extinction exceeds 90%.To evaluate the performance of the PS-LPFG,the grating is inserted into the seed of a kilowattlevel continuous-wave MOPA system.Experiment results show that the 30 dB linewidth of the output spectrum is narrowed by approximately 37.97%,providing an effective and flexible way for optimizing the output linewidth of highpower fiber MOPA laser systems.Yinxu Bian Kerong Jiao Xuecheng Wu Hua Shen Feiyan Yang Rihong Zhu 2021High Power Laser Science and Engineering2021,9,3:2
6Sensitivity of P300 auditory event-related potentials for assessing cognitive impairment in elderly type 2 diabetic patients显示文摘BACKGROUND:In previous studies, cognitive function in elderly type 2 diabetic patients was evaluated by psychometric tests. These studies have confirmed that P300 event-related potential is an objective way of assessing cognitive function. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the objectivity of P300 for assessment of cognitive function in elderly type 2 diabetic patients. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: This case-control experiment was performed at the Department of Endocrinology of the Fourth Affiliated Hospital, Guangxi Medical University from January 2004 to December 2006. PARTICIPANTS: Seventy-two patients (38 males and 34 females) with type 2 diabetes mellitus were enrolled in this study. The patients were divided according to those with diabetes alone (diabetes alone group) (n=38) and those with diabetes and cerebral ischemia (diabetes and cerebral ischemia group) (n=34). A further 31 healthy individuals (16 males and 15 females), who received health examinations over the same period, were included as normal controls (normal control group). METHODS: All subjects were assessed by Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE). Abnormalities in cognitive functions were identified by analyzing the auditory P300 event-related potentials. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Auditory event-related potentials and MMSE scores. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted using the 'enter method' with the 72 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. P3 latency, P3 amplitude and N2 latency served as dependent variables. Age, sex, education, course of the disease, glycosylated hemoglobin, and ischemic brain damage were used as independent variables. RESULTS: No significant difference in scores of MMSE was detected between the diabetes alone and normal control groups (P > 0.05). MMSE score was significantly lower in the diabetes and cerebral ischemia group (P < 0.01) than in the normal control group. N2 and P3 latencies of auditory event-related potential were significantly longer, and P3 amplitude was significantly lower in the diabetes alone and diabetes and cerebral ischemia groups (P < 0.01) than in the normal control group. N2 and P3 latencies were significantly longer in the diabetes and cerebral ischemia group than in the diabetes alone group (P < 0.01), but amplitude was not significantly different. N2 and P3 latencies were negatively correlated with MMSE score in elderly type 2 diabetic patients (r=–0.421, –0.604; both P < 0.01). P3 amplitude was positively related to the score of MMSE (r =0.517; P < 0.01). P3 latency was positively associated with age, course of disease, glycosylated hemoglobin and ischemic brain damage in elderly type 2 diabetic patients (t=2.186 to 3.490; all P < 0.05). P3 amplitude was negatively correlated with age, course of disease and glycosylated hemoglobin (t=–2.220, –2.491, and –2.024, respectively; all P < 0.05). N2 latency was positively correlated with age, course of disease and ischemic brain damage (t=2.946, 2.511, and 2.331, respectively; P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The course of disease, glycosylated hemoglobin and ischemic brain damage are key influential factors for cognitive impairment in elderly type 2 diabetic patients. 10Comparison of the graphic and moment methods for analyzing grainsize distributions:A case study for the Chinese inner continental shelf seas显示文摘Sediment grain-size distributions provide key information on sediment sources,transport,and deposition.The Folk and Ward graphic method and the Friedman moment method are generally used for rapid analysis of the qualitative and quantitative properties of sediment samples;whether the two methods yield the same results for any given sediment sample is not yet known.Little research attention has been paid to comparison of the descriptive terms used in both methods,although some work has been done on comparison of the numerical values.In the current study,sediment samples from six areas of the Chinese inner continental seas were investigated.The mean and sorting values obtained using the two methods are well correlated(0.821≤R^(2)≤0.998),but the skewness and kurtosis vary among study areas(0.035≤R^(2)≤0.816),which is consistent with previous studies where R^(2) is the coefficient of determination.The two methods yield significant differences for skewness(84.78%-98.04%of samples)and kurtosis(40.59%-67.29%of samples).The main reasons for these differences are variations in the grainsize distribution curves of the sediment samples and differences in the weighting applied to specified cumulative percentile values by the two methods.These results demonstrate that the differences between the two methods should be taken into account when analyzing sedimentary environments and studying historical data.Gaocong Li Rihong Du Jieping Tang Zhiqiang Li Qiong Xia Benwei Shi Liang Zhou Yang Yang Wenxiang Zhang 2022International Journal of Sediment Research2022,37,6:1

13The genomic and bulked segregant analysis of Curcuma alismatifolia revealed its diverse bract pigmentation显示文摘Compared with most flowers where the showy part comprises specialized leaves(petals)directly subtending the reproductive structures,most Zingiberaceae species produce showy“flowers”through modifications of leaves(bracts)subtending the true flowers throughout an inflorescence.Curcuma alismatifolia,belonging to the Zingiberaceae family,a plant species originating from Southeast Asia,has become increasingly popular in the flower market worldwide because of its varied and esthetically pleasing bracts produced in different cultivars.Here,we present the chromosome-scale genome assembly of C.alismatifolia“Chiang Mai Pink”and explore the underlying mechanisms of bract pigmentation.Comparative genomic analysis revealed C.alismatifolia contains a residual signal of whole-genome duplication.Duplicated genes,including pigment-related genes,exhibit functional and structural differentiation resulting in diverse bract colors among C.alismatifolia cultivars.In addition,we identified the key genes that produce different colored bracts in C.alismatifolia,such as F3′5'H,DFR,ANS and several transcription factors for anthocyanin synthesis,as well as chlH and CAO in the chlorophyll synthesis pathway by conducting transcriptomic analysis,bulked segregant analysis using both DNA and RNA data,and population genomic analysis.This work provides data for understanding the mechanism of bract pigmentation and will accelerate breeding in developing novel cultivars with richly colored bracts in C.alismatifolia and related species.It is also important to understand the variation in the evolution of the Zingiberaceae family.Xuezhu Liao Yuanjun Ye Xiaoni Zhang Dan Peng Mengmeng Hou Gaofei Fu Jianjun Tan Jianli Zhao Rihong Jiang Yechun Xu Jinmei Liu Jinliang Yang Wusheng Liu Luke RTembrock Genfa Zhu Zhiqiang Wu 2022aBIOTECH2022,3,3:1

19A low temperature processable tin oxide interlayer via aminemodification for efficient and stable organic solar cells显示文摘The exploitation of proper electron transport layers(ETLs)and interface optimization can play a pivotal role to promote the performance of organic solar cells(OSCs).In this work,low temperature processable tin oxide(SnO_(2))colloidal nanoparticles with ethanolamine(EA)treatment are successfully employed for efficient and stable OSCs with light soaking free.The EA is chemically bonded with SnO_(2),and the ethanolamine treated tin oxide(E-SnO_(2))layer delivers a suitable work function of 4.10 eV and a unique surface texture with suspended polar moieties.The enhanced performance of E-SnO_(2) based OSCs can be attributed to the improved charge transport and electron extraction,which is correlated with the regulated energy level alignment and contact quality of E-SnO_(2)/active layer.As a result,considerable power conversion efficiencies(PCEs)of 10.30%,13.93%and 15.38%for PTB7-Th/PC_(71) BM,PM7/ITC6-4 F and PM6/Y6 based OSCs have been realized with E-SnO_(2) as ETL,respectively.Compared with ZnO based devices,the E-SnO_(2) based OSCs exhibit an improved light aging stability,which can retain 94.3%of their initial PCE of 15.38%after 100 h light aging for E-SnO_(2)/PM6/Y6 based OSCs.This work demonstrates that the enormous potential of E-SnO_(2) to serve as ETL for high-efficiency and stable OSCs.Shun Guang Jiangsheng Yu Hongtao Wang Xin Liu Shenya Qu Rihong Zhu Weihua Tang 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,5:0
20An asymmetric A-D-π-A type non-fullerene acceptor enables high-detectivity near-infrared organic photodiodes显示文摘Narrow bandgap non-fullerene acceptors(NFAs)are relevant as key materials components for the fabrication of near-infrared(NIR)organic solar cells(OSCs)and organic photodiodes(OPDs)thanks to their complementary absorption,tunable energy levels,and enhanced stability.However,high-performance NIR photodetectors are still scarce due to the absence of narrow bandgap NFAs.Herein,an asymmetric A-D-π-A type NFA,named ABTPV-S,with a broad optical absorption approaching 1,000 nm is designed and synthesized through integrating alkylthio side chains and a vinyleneπ-bridge.The optimal inverted OPD device exhibits an excellent performance with a photoresponsivity of 0.39 AW-1,a noise current of 2.25×10^(-14)A Hz^(-0.5),a specific detectivity(D*)of 3.43×10^(12)Jones at 840 nm,and linear dynamic range(LDR)of 140 d B.In addition,the rise and fall times for ABTPV-S-based OPDs also reach 1.07 and 0.71μs,respectively.ABTPV-S-based OPDs exhibit a high D*over 1012Jones at 950 nm,which is a competitive result for the self-powered photodiode-type NIR OPDs.These findings highlight the outstanding potential of asymmetric A-D-π-A type NIR NFAs for high-performance OPDs competing with their silicon counterparts.Ziping Zhong Xin Liu Ling Li Zeyao Han Yin He Xiaobao Xu Jiefeng Hai Rihong Zhu Jiangsheng Yu 2023Science China Chemistry2023,66,1:0
