| 1 | Review of Chinese atmospheric science research over the past 70 years: Synoptic meteorology显示文摘Synoptic meteorology is a branch of meteorology that uses synoptic weather observations and charts for the diagnosis,study,and forecasting of weather.Weather refers to the specific state of the atmosphere near the Earth’s surface during a short period of time.The spatial distribution of meteorological elements in the atmosphere can be represented by a variety of transient weather phenomena,which are caused by weather systems of different spatial and temporal scales.Weather is closely related to people’s life,and its development and evolution have always been the focus of atmospheric scientific research and operation.The development of synoptic meteorology is closely related to the development of observation systems,dynamical theories and numerical models.In China,observation networks have been built since the early 1950 s.Up to now,a comprehensive meteorological observation systembased on ground,air and space has been established.In particular,the development of a new generation of dense radar networks,the development of the Fengyun satellite series and the implementation of a series of large field experiments have brought our understanding of weather from large-scale environment to thermal dynamics,cloud microphysical structure and evolution characteristics of meso and micro-scale weather systems.The development of observation has also promoted the development of theory,numerical model and simulation.In the early days,China mainly used foreign numerical models.Lately,China has developed numerical model systems with independent intellectual property rights.Based on the results of high-resolution numerical simulations,in-depth understanding of the initiation and evolution mechanism and predictability of weather at different scales has been obtained.Synoptic meteorology has gradually changed from an initially independent development to a multidisciplinary approach,and the interaction between weather and the change of climate and environment has become a hot and frontier topic in atmospheric science.This paper reviews the important scientific and technological achievements made in China over the past 70 years in the fields of synoptic meteorology based on the literatures in China and abroad,from six aspects respectively including atmospheric dynamics,synoptic-scale weather,typhoon and tropical weather,severe convective weather,numerical weather prediction and data assimilation,weather and climate,atmospheric physics and atmospheric environment. | Zhiyong MENG Fuqing ZHANG Dehai LUO Zhemin TAN Juan FANG Jianhua SUN Xueshun SHEN Yunji ZHANG Shuguang WANG Wei HAN Kun ZHAO Lei ZHU Yongyun HU Huiwen XUE Yaping MA Lijuan ZHANG Ji NIE Ruilin ZHOU Sa LI Hongjun LIU Yuning ZHU | 2019 | Science China Earth Sciences2019,62,12: | 7 |
| 2 | Metastable liquid properties and rapid crystal growth of Ti-Ni-Al alloy investigated by electrostatic levitation and molecular dynamics simulation显示文摘Electrostatic levitation technique and molecular dynamics simulation were performed to investigate the thermophysical properties,liquid structure and crystal growth dependence on undercooling of Ti_(85)Ni_(10)Al_(5) alloy.The liquid Ti_(85)Ni_(10)Al_(5) alloy was substantially undercooled up to 335 K(0.18T_(L)).As undercooling increased,the potential energy of the liquid alloy decreased and the alloy entered into a high metastable state.At this state,the atoms tended to bond with each other and the clusters were inclined to convert into high-coordinated clusters,as confirmed by the fraction of the high-coordinated clusters variation.The enlarged clusters and enhanced local structure stability contributed to the increase of the thermophysical parameters and crystal growth velocity,and eventually dendrite refinement.The density,the specific heat and the surface tension of liquid alloy exhibited a linear relation with temperature and the shear viscosity of liquid alloy showed exponential variation which showed good agreement with the calculation results by molecular dynamics simulation.The growth velocity first increased slowly and then dramatically once the undercooling exceeded the threshold.The achieved maximum crystal growth velocity was 12.4 m s^(−1) and it was up to 326 times of the value at 94 K undercooling. | XIAO RuiLin RUAN Ying LIN MaoJie QIN JingYu LI Hui HU Liang WEI BingBo | 2021 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,10: | 2 |
| 3 | Insulin-Enhanced Antitumor Effect of 5-Fluorouracil in vivo显示文摘OBJECTIVE To determine if insulin treatment can enhance the antitumor effect of 5-fluorouracil(5-FU),and to explore the mech- anism of the enhancement of insulin. METHODS S180 sarcoma,H22 liver cancer and human Eca-109 esophageal cancer cells were transplanted into nude mice to evaluate the inhibitory effect on tumor growth of insulin alone or in combination with 5-FU.The levels of serum insulin-like growth factor-I(IGF-I)and insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3)were determined. RESULTS Compared with 5-FU treatment alone,the tumor weight of H22 liver cancer and S180 sarcoma was reduced further with high,medium and low-dose insulin(0.09,0.06,0.03 U/20 g) +5-FU treatment.When a high dosage of insulin+5-FU was ad- ministered,tumor weight was significantly reduced(P<0.05).The inhibitory rate of growth of S180 sarcoma and H22 liver cancer reached 50.2% and 51.4%,respectively,which was significantly higher than 24.9% and 27.9% in the group receiving 5-FU alone (P<0.05).High,medium and low-dose insulin combined with 5-FU significantly inhibited the growth of Eca-109 cancer cells (P<0.05).Compared with the control group,the level of serum IGF-1 decreased(P<0.05),whereas the level of serum IGFBP-3 slightly increased in the 5-FU±insulin groups(P>0.05).In mice with H22 liver cancer and S180 sarcoma the IGF-1 level with high- dose insulin+5-FU treatment was significantly lower compared to treatment with 5-FU alone(P<0.05),but the difference was not significant in mice transplanted with esophageal cancer cells. | 4 | A real-time inversion attack on the GMR-2 cipher used in the satellite phones显示文摘The GMR-2 cipher is a type of stream cipher currently being used in some inmarsat satellite phones. It has been proven that such a cipher can be cracked using only one single-frame(15 bytes) known keystream but with moderate executing time. In this paper, we present a new thorough security analysis of the GMR-2 cipher. We first study the inverse properties of the cipher's components to reveal a bad one-way character of the cipher. By then introducing a new concept called 'valid key chain' according to the cipher's key schedule, we propose an unprecedented real-time inversion attack using a single-frame keystream. This attack comprises three phases:(1) table generation;(2) dynamic table look-up, filtration and combination;and(3) verification. Our analysis shows that, using the proposed attack, the size of the exhaustive search space for the 64-bit encryption key can be reduced to approximately 2^(13) when a single-frame keystream is available. Compared with previous known attacks, this inversion attack is much more efficient. | 6 | A joint call for actions to advance taxonomy in China显示文摘Taxonomy plays an important role in understanding the origin, evolution, and ecological functionality of biodiversity. There are large number of unknown species yet to be described by taxonomists, which together with their ecosystem services cannot be effectively protected prior to description. Despite this, taxonomy has been increasingly underrated insufficient funds and permanent positions to retain young talents. Further, the impact factordriven evaluation systems in China exacerbate this downward trend, so alternative evaluation metrics are urgently necessary. When the current generation of outstanding taxonomists retires,there will be too few remaining taxonomists left to train the next generation. | 14 | Promoting the protonation step on the interface of titanium dioxide for selective photocatalytic reduction of CO_(2)to CH_(4)by using red phosphorus quantum dots显示文摘Enhancing the selectivity of hydrocarbon in CO_(2)is a great challenge.Herein,taking widely-used and highly-stable TiO_(2)as an example,we found that the protonation step,the key step for CH_(4)production,can change from endoergic to exoergic by using red phosphorus quantum dots.Consequently,the main product in CO_(2)reduction can be shifted from CO into CH_(4).The preparation method is very simple,which just ultrasonically treating the red P in the presence of TiO_(2).With an initial rate of CH_(4)production of 4.69μmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1),under simulated solar light,it manifests a significant 49.4-fold enhancement of CH_(4)yield over TiO_(2).Density functional calculation indicates that the red P optimizes the surface electronic structure.The Gibbs free energy for CHO^(*)formation(^(-1).12 eV)becomes lower than the desorption energy of the CO(-0.01 eV)when red P is introduced.This indicates that the CO intermediates on the surface are rapidly protonated to produce CHO^(*).Subsequently,the CHO^(*)will be converted into CH_(4)instead of being desorbed from the surface to produce CO.This study demonstrates that red P quantum dot is a promising candidate for the development of efficient photocatalyst for CO_(2)photoreduction to CH_(4)under solar light irradiation. | Yinglong Lu Minghao Liu Ningchao Zheng Xi He Ruiting Hu Ruilin Wang Quan Zhou Zhuofeng Hu | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,4: | 1 |
