| 1 | Morphological responses in a meandering and island-braided reach of the Middle Yangtze River to the Three Gorges Reservoir impoundment显示文摘Literal migration is an important form of morphological changes on the Middle Yangtze River(MYR),particularly for the lower Jingjiang reach.The Three Gorges Reservoir(TGR) has substantially reduced sediment supply to the downstream river channels since its impoundment in June 2003.The scientific understanding of how decrease of sediment influences the processes of bank erosion and channel adjustments is complex and limited.In the present paper,the morphological responses in a typical meandering and island-braided river segment of the MYR to the filling of the TGR were investigated by a3-D morphodynamic model.The potential of the 3-D model has been demonstrated by the observed data.The morphological evolutions in the Shishou bend during the first 12 years of the TGR impoundment were predicted.The effects of the TGR operation on the planform evolutions in the study reach were analyzed based on the simulated results.Sediment load is decreased by 75%due to the early filling of the TGR.The magnitude of bed degradation with less sediment load due to the TGR operation is increased compared with the pre-dam situation.Qualitatively,the overall planform evolution trends in the Shishou bend after the TGR operation are similar to that without the TGR operation.The magnitude of lateral migration has been increased in some part of the channel bend,where the morphological response of the TGR operation exhibits more lateral migration rather than vertical degradation.Scouring at the bank toe enhances bank failure.Decrease of sediment load and weak bank anti-scour ability as well as the significant helical flow can be responsible for intensified bank erosion in the channel bend. | Dongdong Jia Xuejun Shao Xingnong Zhang Yongjun Lu Pengfei Hei | 2016 | International Journal of Sediment Research2016,31,2: | 6 |

| 3 | Composition of fish species in the Bering and Chukchi Seas and their responses to changes in the ecological environment显示文摘Based on trawl surveys in the Bering Sea and Chukchi Sea during the 2010 Chinese National Arctic Research Expedition, fish biodiversity characteristics, such as fish composition, dominant species, biodiversity, and faunal characteristics were conducted. We also discussed the responses of fishes to the quick changes in Arctic climate. The results showed that a total of 41 species in 14 families were recorded in these waters. The dominant species were Hippoglossoides robustus, Boreogadus saida, Myoxocephalus scorpius, Lumpenus fabricii, and Artediellus scaber. There were 35 coldwater species, accounting for 85.37%, and six cold temperate species, occupying 14.63%. The habitat types of fish could be grouped as follows: 35 species of demersal fishes, five benthopelagic fishes, and one pelagic fish. The Shannon–Wiener diversity index(H)(range between 0 and 2.18, 1.21 on average) was not high, and descended from south to north. | 4 | Geology and Geochemistry of the Shizitou Molybdenum Deposit, Jiangxi Province: Implications for Geodynamic Setting and Metallogenesis显示文摘The Shizitou molybdenum(Mo) deposit in Yongping, Jiangxi, is an important, recently discovered deposit in the eastern section of the Qin–Hang metallogenic belt. The Mo deposit is located in the outer contact zone between the porphyritic biotite granite and the Neoproterozoic migmatite, and present in the deep central part of the intrusion. Re–Os dating and S and Pb isotopic analysis have been conducted to assess the metallogenesis of the Shizitou Mo deposit. S, Pb and Re isotopes show that the ore–forming materials were derived from the porphyritic biotite granitic magma, which originated from the mixing of mantle and crust. Re–Os dating of molybdenite from the ores gives a model age from 156.9±2.2 to 158.5±2.4 Ma, with a weighted mean age of 158±1 Ma and an isochron age of 158.0±2.5 Ma. Geological and geochemical characteristics of the ore deposit and the related granitoids indicate that the Shizitou deposit is a Climax–type Mo deposit. Based on previous studies of the Qin–Hang metallogenic belt, two metallogenic events are believed to have occurred during 172–145 Ma and 137–132 Ma. These two metallogenic periods are consistent with the timing of two metallogenic peaks during the middle to late Jurassic and the Cretaceous in South China.
