| 1 | Morphological and Physiological Responses of Plants to Cadmium Toxicity: A Review显示文摘Cadmium(Cd) contamination has posed an increasing challenge to environmental quality and food security. In recent years,phytoremediation has been particularly scrutinized because it is cost-effective and environmentally friendly, especially the use of metal-hyperaccumulating plants to extract or mine heavy metals from polluted soils. Under Cd stress, responses of hyperaccumulator and non-hyperaccumulator plants differ in morphological responses and physiological processes such as photosynthesis and respiration,uptake, transport, and assimilation of minerals and nitrogen, and water uptake and transport, which contribute to their ability to accumulate and detoxify Cd. This review aims to provide a brief overview of the recent progresses in the differential responses of hyperaccumulator and non-accumulator plants to Cd toxicity in terms of growth and physiological processes. | 3 | Structural characteristic and formation mechanism of hemihydrate calcium sulfate whiskers prepared using FGD gypsum显示文摘Hemihydrate calcium sulfate whiskers(HH-CSWs)were hydrothermally synthesized in a sulfuric acid solution at 120℃ for different holding times(20,40,and 60 min).The phase structures and morphologies were characterized by XRD and SEM,respectively.The XRD pattern of the sample under 60 min was refined via the Rietveld fitting method.The structure models of the HH-CSW sample under a 60-min holding time was established based on Rietveld fitting results.No difference in the positions of diffraction peaks was determined.The as-prepared holding time increased the intensity and aspect ratio of the diffraction peaks of both samples.In the prepared HH-CSW structure,Ca-O polyhedron is a 12-sided polyhedron similar to that in the gypsum structure;the Ca atom is located in two positions in the one-unit cell;the H_(2)O channel along the c-axis similar is O-shaped and bigger than that in hexagonal and monoclinic CaSO_(4)·0.5H_(2)O structures.Therefore,although the prepared HH-CSW crystals’structure are similar to that of the reported hexagonal and monoclinic CaSO_(4)·0.5H_(2)O structures,they are not the same.The formation mechanism of HH-CSW from flue gas desulfurization(FGD)gypsum is discussed based on the analysis of gypsum structure. | Xiaoting Zhang Lingwei Ran Xiao Wang Biao Jin Jianwu Zhang Shanying Li Liushuan Yang | 2022 | Particuology2022,20,3: | 7 |
| 4 | Infuence of Substrate Temperature on Stress and Morphology Characteristics of Co Doped ZnO Films Prepared by Laser-Molecular Beam Epitaxy显示文摘Zn1exCox O(x 0.05) thin films are deposited on sapphire(0001) substrates by laser-molecular beam epitaxy technique at different substrate temperatures. The structural, stress and morphology evolution features are investigated by means of X-ray diffraction and atomic force microscopy. The surface parameters of roughness exponent a, root mean square(RMS) roughness w and autocorrelation length x are calculated and the surface parameters are preliminarily analyzed. The values of a vary from 0.7 to 0.9. The RMS roughness w is less than 2.2 nm, and it increases with increasing T s from 300 to 400 C, and then decreases when T s is 500 C. | 5 | Exergy analysis on eco-industrial systems显示文摘Exergy analysis of eco-industrial systems reflects the thermodynamic characteristics of resource utilization by studying complicated material flow patterns to an industrial system. Different indicators based on exergy analysis are presented, such as system exergy depletion index, cycling ratio of material exergy, etc. which can be used to evaluate the efficiency of resource utilization and the environmental potential effect. The interrelations of these exergy indicators and their interpretation on industrial ecology are further discussed. | 13 | AB041.The implication of miRNA let-7f in retinal pigment epithelium degeneration under oxidative stress显示文摘Background:Age-related macular degeneration(AMD)is the most suspected cause of vision loss in the elderly.Given the considerable evidence,oxidative stress is thought to be a primary contributing factor to AMD.Retinal pigment epithelium(RPE)could be detrimentally compromised by oxidative stress along which blebs called retinal microparticles(RMPs)start to shed.In continue these particles would be taken by retina,causing RPE senescence,dysfunction and ultimately cell death.Along with the intracellular damages,accumulative deposit of microparticles in subretinal region can cause most known histological hallmark of dry AMD namely drusen.Based on our preliminary study,of 20 present miRNAs,Let-7f is the most abundant microRNAs in RMPs.As the accused substrate of RMPs through which retina function is compromised has yet to be well understood,we aimed to investigate pathophysiological role of let-7f and specific signaling triggered in RPE dysfunction.In brief,the principal objective is to further understand how RMPs implicate in RPE dysfunction.Methods:By oxidative stress inducing,RMPs were isolated from cultured ARPE-19 cells.We considered the effect of RMPs on ARPE-19 cells viability using MTT assay.In addition,to see whether RMPs effect could be ascribed to let-7f,ARPE-19 cells were transfected by carrier containing miRNA Let-7f.These transfected cells were then subjected senescence(β-galactosidase)and cell cycle assay to explore the molecular events responsible for Let-7f induced RPE cell dysfunction.Results:Regarding result we found that RMPs adversely affected RPE cell growth and resulted in significant decrease(≥30%)in cell viability.Let-7f-treated cells also revealed considerable increases of the senescence-associatedβ-galactosidase activity.Alongside RMPs impact,let-7f treatment group also showed similar result in cell growth.Conclusions:To the best of our knowledge,RPE cells uptake microparticles derived from oxidative-injured retinal cells,deteriorating integrity of vision compartments.Not only these finding would suggest that RMP’s impression likely corresponds to the miRNA let-7f,but introduce Let-7f as a mediator exacerbating the oxidative damages to RPE cells.This undesirable interplay is followed probably by dry AMD.Taken together,it seems by finding involved downstream pathways under RMPs pathogenesis,we can inhibit AMD disease in the early stage as well.In this line,we plan to investigate consecutive effect of RMP-associated miRNA inhibition in oxidative damage of retinal pigment epithelium. | Saeideh Shani Chun Yang Carmen Gagnon Pierre Hardy | 2018 | Annals of Eye Science2018,,1: | 0 |
