| 1 | Numerical simulation of powder transport behavior in laser cladding with coaxial powder feeding显示文摘Laser cladding with coaxial powder feeding is one of the new processes applied to produce well bonding coating on the component to improve performance of its surface. In the process, the clad material is transported by the carrying gas through the coaxial nozzle, generating gas-powder flow. The powder feeding process in the coaxial laser cladding has important influence on the clad qualities. A 3D numerical model was developed to study the powder stream structure of a coaxial feeding nozzle. The predicted powder stream structure was well agreed with the experimental one. The validated model was used to explore the collision behavior of particles in the coaxial nozzle, as well as powder concentration distribution. It was found that the particle diameter and restitution coefficient greatly affect the velocity vector at outlet of nozzle due to the collisions, as well as the powder stream convergence characteristics below the nozzle. | 2 | Pretreatment with Danhong injection protects the brain against ischemia-reperfusion injury显示文摘Danhong injection(DHI),a Chinese Materia Medica standardized product extracted from Radix Salviae miltiorrhizae and Flos Carthami tinctorii,is widely used in China for treating acute ischemic stroke.In the present study,we explored the neuroprotective efficacy of DHI in a rat model of temporary middle cerebral artery occlusion,and evaluated the potential mechanisms underlying its effects.Pretreatment with DHI(0.9 and 1.8 mL/kg)resulted in a significantly smaller infarct volume and better neurological scores than pretreatment with saline.Furthermore,DHI significantly reduced the permeability of the blood-brain barrier,increased occludin protein expression and decreased neutrophil infiltration,as well as profoundly suppressing the upregulation of matrix metallopeptidase-9 expression seen in rats that had received vehicle.Matrix metallopeptidase-2 expression was not affected by ischemia or DHI.Moreover,DHI(1.8 mL/kg)administered 3 hours after the onset of ischemia also improved neurological scores and reduced infarct size.Our results indicate that the neuroprotective efficacy of DHI in a rat model of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury is mediated by a protective effect on the blood-brain barrier and the reversal of neutrophil infiltration. | Shaoxia Wang Hong Guo Xumei Wang Lijuan Chai Limin Hu Tao Zhao Buchang Zhao Xiaoxu Tan Feifei Jia | 2014 | Neural Regeneration Research2014,9,15: | 12 |
| 3 | Effect of Water Level Fluctuations on Wintering Goose Abundance in Poyang Lake Wetlands of China显示文摘The Poyang Lake is a Ramsar site and is the important over-wintering site for migratory waterbirds along the East Asian–Australasian Fly way. Examining the effects of water level fluctuations on waterbird abundance and analyzing the influencing mechanism is critical to waterbird protection in the context of hydrological alteration. In this study, the effect of water level regime on wintering goose abundance was examined and the influencing mechanism was interpreted. Synchronous waterbirds survey data, hydrological data, Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer-Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(MODIS-NDVI) data and habitat data derived from Landsat TM/ETM data and HJ/CCD data were combined. The satellite-derived Green Wave Index(GWI) based on MODIS-NDVI dataset was applied to detect changes in goose food resources. It was found that habitat size and vegetation conditions are key factors determining goose abundance. Geese numbers were positively correlated with habitat area, while intermediate range of vegetation productivity might benefit the goose abundance. Water level affects goose abundance by changing available habitat areas and vegetation conditions. We suggested that matching hydrological regime and exposed meadows time to wintering geese dynamics was crucial in the Poyang Lake wetlands. | 4 | Influence of the structure of TiO_2 , CeO_2 , and CeO_2-TiO_2 supports on the activity of Ru catalysts in the catalytic wet air oxidation of acetic acid显示文摘Ru catalysts, supported on TiO 2 , CeO 2 , and CeO 2 -TiO 2 , were prepared by the impregnation method. The effect of the structure of the supports on the activity of Ru catalysts was investigated in the catalytic wet air oxidation (CWAO) of acetic acid under 230℃ and 5 MPa in a batch reactor. Physical properties including the surface area, crystalline phase, and surface components of the Ru catalysts were characterized by N 2 adsorption, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The CeO 2 -based Ru catalysts had good activity, and the prepared RuO 2 /CeO 2 catalyst showed markedly higher activity than the RuO 2 /CeO 2 -TiO 2 catalyst. | 5 | Panax notoginseng saponin attenuates hypoxia/reoxygenation-induced oxidative stress in cortical neurons显示文摘The present study monitored the effect of 2, 10, and 50 mg/L of Panax notoginseng saponin exposure following hypoxia-reoxygenation injury in fetal rat cortical neurons. Results showed that varying doses of Panax notoginseng saponin significantly enhanced the cell viability of neurons, reduced malondialdehyde content, increased superoxide dismutase activity, inhibited mRNA and protein expression of inducible and neuronal nitric oxide synthase, and decreased the release of nitric oxide in hypoxia/reoxygenation injured cells. In particular, 50 mg/L of Panax notoginseng saponin was the most effective dose. | 7 | Catalytic wet air oxidation of phenol with functionalized carbon materials as catalysts:Reaction mechanism and pathway显示文摘The development of highly active carbon material catalysts in catalytic wet air oxidation(CWAO)has attracted a great deal of attention. In this study different carbon material catalysts(multi-walled carbon nanotubes,carbon fibers and graphite) were developed to enhance the CWAO of phenol in aqueous solution. The functionalized carbon materials exhibited excellent catalytic activity in the CWAO of phenol. After 60 min reaction,the removal of phenol was nearly100% over the functionalized multi-walled carbon,while it was only 14% over the purified multi-walled carbon under the same reaction conditions. Carboxylic acid groups introduced on the surface of the functionalized carbon materials play an important role in the catalytic activity in CWAO. They can promote the production of free radicals,which act as strong oxidants in CWAO. Based on the analysis of the intermediates produced in the CWAO reactions,a new reaction pathway for the CWAO of phenol was proposed in this study. There are some differences between the proposed reaction pathway and that reported in the literature. First,maleic acid is transformed directly into malonic acid. Second,acetic acid is oxidized into an unknown intermediate,which is then oxidized into CO2 and H2O.
