Edge Effect Correction in the S-A Method for Geochemical Anomaly Separation显示文摘Anomaly separation using geochemical data often involves operations in the frequency domain, such as filtering and reducing noise/signal ratios. Unfortunately, the abrupt edge truncation of an image along edges and holes (with missing data) often causes frequency distribution distortion in the frequency domain. For example, bright strips are commonly seen in frequency distribution when using a Fourier transform. Such edge effect distortion may affect information extraction results; sometimes severely, depending on the edge abruptness of the image. Traditionally, edge effects are reduced by smoothing the image boundary prior to applying a Fourier transform. Zero-padding is one of the most commonly used smoothing methods. This simple method can reduce the edge effect to some degree but still distorts the image in some cases. Moreover, due to the complexity of geoscience images, which can include irregular shapes and holes with missing data, zero-padding does not always give satisfactory results. This paper proposes the use of decay functions to handle edge effects when extracting information from geoscience images. As an application, this method has been used in a newly developed multifractal method (S-A) for separating geochemical anomalies from background patterns. A geochemical dataset chosen from a mineral district in Nova Scotia, Canada was used to validate the method. | Ge Yong Department of Earth and Atmospheric Science, York University, Toronto, ON, M3J 1P3, Canada State Key Laboratory of Resources and Environmental Information System, Institute of Geographic Sciences & Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100101, China Cheng Qiuming Department of Earth and Atmospheric Science, York University, Toronto, ON, M3J 1P3, Canada Earth Systems and Mineral Resource Engineering Lab, China University of Geosciences, Wuhan 430074, China Zhang Shenyuan Department of Earth and Atmospheric Science, York University, Toronto, ON, M3J 1P3, Canada Department of Resource and Earth Science, China University of Mining & Technology, Beijing 100083, China | 2004 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2004,15,4: | 28

Bio-Based Hyperbranched Toughener From Tannic Acid and Its Enhanced Solvent-Free Epoxy Resin with High Performance显示文摘It is essential to design economic and efficient tougheners to prepare high-performance epoxy resin;however, this has remained a huge challenge.Herein,an eco-friendly,low-cost,and facile-fabricated bio-based hyperbranched toughener, carboxylic acid-functionalized tannic acid(CATA),was successfully prepared and applicated to the preparation of solvent-free epoxy resins. The mechanical performance, morphology, structural characterization, and thermal characterization of toughened epoxy resin system were studied. The toughened epoxy resin system with only 1.0wt%CATA reached the highest impact strength,111%higher than the neat epoxy resin system.Notably, the tensile strength and elongation at break of toughened epoxy resin systems increased moderately with increasing CATA loading.Nonphase-separated hybrids with significant toughening effect were obtained.Additionally, the thermal stabilities of toughened epoxy resin systems decreased with increasing CATA loading. This study provides an eco-friendly,cost-effective,and facile approach for the preparation of high-performance,solvent-free epoxy resins with potential for practical applications in sealing integrated circuits and electrical devices fields. | Jie Xu Jiayao Yang Hengxu Wang Peng Lin Xiaohuan Liu Jinjie Zhang Shenyuan Fu Yuxun Tang | 2019 | Journal of Renewable Materials2019,7,12: | 5
Control strategy for multiple capsule robots in intestine显示文摘Based on the critical gap phenomenon of the intestinal capsule robot,a variable-diameter capsule robot with radial gap self-compensation is developed in this paper. With the functional variation principle,a fluid dynamic pressure model satisfying the boundary conditions of the outer surface of capsule robot with screw blades is derived. The critical gap phenomenon is studied theoretically and experimentally based on the end effect and the dynamic balance characteristics of the fluid on the surface of capsule robot. The concept of start-up rotation speed is defined, the relationship between the start-up rotation speed and the spiral parameters of capsule robot is investigated. The strategy for implementing drive and control on several capsule robots under the same rotational magnetic field is proposed, and by defining the start-up curves of several capsule robots with the similar motion regulation as the objective functions, genetic algorithm is employed to optimize the spiral parameters of several capsule robots.Experiments have shown that the proposed drive and control strategy for several capsule robots can be implemented effectively. It has a good prospect of application inside intestine to realize the drive and control on several capsule robots for different medical purposes. | ZHANG YongShun WANG DianLong RUAN XiaoYan JIANG ShenYuan LU Jie | 2011 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2011,54,11: | 5
Aurora-A is a novel predictor of poor prognosis in patients with resected lung adenocarcinoma显示文摘Background: The Aurora-A(Aur-A) gene, a key regulator of mitosis, has been proved as an oncogene in a variety of cancers. The Aur-A overexpression has been proved correlated with aggressiveness of cancer cells. However, the frequency of Aur-A protein overexpression, as well as its association with clinicopathologic parameters and prognosis remain unclear in lung adenocarcinoma(ADC). This study tried to clarify the clinical significance of Aur-A in patients with resected lung ADC. Patients and methods: A total of 142 informative patients with surgically resected lung ADC and 20 normal lung tissues were enrolled. Western blot and immunohistochemistry(IHC) were utilized to assess protein expression of Aur-A.Result: The expression of Aur-A was elevated in most of tumor tissues compared with the adjacent tissues by western blot. The IHC results showed that Aur-A protein was over-expressed in 98 of 142(69.0%) tumor sections, while Aur-A was low-expressed in all normal lung sections. A positive correlation between Aur-A overexpression rate and ascending pathologic stages was observed(P<0.05). Kaplan-Meier analysis demonstrated that patients with Aur-A high expression had significantly inferior survival compared to those with Aur-A low expression. Both overall survival(OS) and disease-free survival(DFS) of positive overexpression patients were shorter than the negative group(P=0.036, P=0.041, respectively). Multivariate analysis confirmed that Aur-A expression, as an independent and significant factor for both DFS and OS, could predict a poor prognosis in patients with resected lung ADC(P=0.022, P=0.049, respectively). Conclusions: Aur-A was overexpressed in lung ADC and overexpression of Aur-A might be a novel predictor for poor prognosis and potential therapeutic target in lung ADC. | Bo Zeng Yiyan Lei Haoshuai Zhu Shenyuan Luo Mei Zhuang Chunhua Su Jianyong Zou Lei Yang Honghe Luo | 2014 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2014,26,2: | 3

Graphene-driving strain engineering to enable strain-free epitaxy of AlN film for deep ultraviolet light-emitting diode显示文摘The energy-efficient deep ultraviolet(DUV)optoelectronic devices suffer from critical issues associated with the poor quality and large strain of nitride material system caused by the inherent mismatch of heteroepitaxy. In this work,we have prepared the strain-free AlN film with low dislocation density(DD)by graphene(Gr)-driving strain-pre-store engineering and a unique mechanism of strain-relaxation in quasi-van der Waals(QvdW)epitaxy is presented. The DD in AlN epilayer with Gr exhibits an anomalous sawtooth-like evolution during the whole epitaxy process.Gr can help to enable the annihilation of the dislocations originated from the interface between AlN and Gr/sapphire by impelling a lateral two-dimensional growth mode.Remarkably,it can induce AlN epilayer to pre-store sufficient tensile strain during the early growth stage and thus compensate the compressive strain caused by hetero-mismatch.Therefore,the low-strain state of the DUV light-emitting diode(DUV-LED)epitaxial structure is realized on the strain-free AlN template with Gr.Furthermore, the DUV-LED with Gr demonstrate 2.1 times enhancement of light output power and a better stability of luminous wavelength compared to that on bare sapphire. An in-depth understanding of this work reveals diverse beneficial impacts of Gr on nitride growth and provides a novel strategy of relaxing the vital requirements of hetero-mismatch in conventional heteroepitaxy. | Hongliang Chang Zhetong Liu Shenyuan Yang Yaqi Gao Jingyuan Shan Bingyao Liu Jingyu Sun Zhaolong Chen Jianchang Yan Zhiqiang Liu Junxi Wang Peng Gao Jinmin Li Zhongfan Liu Tongbo Wei | 2022 | Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,5: | 1

A DFT study of the CO adsorption and oxidation at ZnO surfaces and its implication for CO detection显示文摘Recently,ZnO-based gas sensors have been successfully fabricated and widely studied for their excellent sensitivity and selectivity, especially in CO detection. However, detailed explorations of their mechanisms are rather limited.Herein, aiming at clarifying the sensing mechanism,we carried out density functional theory(DFT)calculations to track down the CO adsorption and oxidation on the ZnO(1010)and(1120)surfaces.The calculated results show that the lattice O of ZnO(1010)is more reactive than that of ZnO(1120)for CO oxidation. From the calculated energetics and structures, the main reaction product on both surfaces can be determined to be CO2 rather than carbonate. Moreover, the surface conductivity changes during the adsorption and reaction processes of CO were also studied. For both ZnO(1010)and(1120),the conductivity would increase upon CO adsorption and decrease following CO oxidation,in consistence with the reported experimental results. This work can help understand the origins of ZnO-based sensors’performances and the development of novel gas sensors with higher sensitivity and selectivity. | Zibin Ni Shenyuan Bao Xue-Qing Gong | 2020 | Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,6: | 1

An unsupervised clustering method for nuclear magnetic resonance transverse relaxation spectrums based on the Gaussian mixture model and its application显示文摘To make the quantitative results of nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) transverse relaxation(T;) spectrums reflect the type and pore structure of reservoir more directly, an unsupervised clustering method was developed to obtain the quantitative pore structure information from the NMR T;spectrums based on the Gaussian mixture model(GMM). Firstly, We conducted the principal component analysis on T;spectrums in order to reduce the dimension data and the dependence of the original variables. Secondly, the dimension-reduced data was fitted using the GMM probability density function, and the model parameters and optimal clustering numbers were obtained according to the expectation-maximization algorithm and the change of the Akaike information criterion. Finally, the T;spectrum features and pore structure types of different clustering groups were analyzed and compared with T;geometric mean and T;arithmetic mean. The effectiveness of the algorithm has been verified by numerical simulation and field NMR logging data. The research shows that the clustering results based on GMM method have good correlations with the shape and distribution of the T;spectrum, pore structure, and petroleum productivity, providing a new means for quantitative identification of pore structure, reservoir grading, and oil and gas productivity evaluation. | GE Xinmin XUE Zong’an ZHOU Jun HU Falong LI Jiangtao ZHANG Hengrong WANG Shuolong NIU Shenyuan ZHAO Ji’er | 2022 | Petroleum Exploration and Development2022,49,2: | 1
