1Advances in research of the mid-deep South China Sea circulation显示文摘The South China Sea(SCS)is a large marginal sea connecting the Indian and Pacific oceans.Under the factors of monsoons,strait transport,and varied bathymetry,the SCS presents a three-layer structure and strong diapycnal mixing which is far greater than that in the open ocean.Theoretical analysis and observations reveal that internal tides,internal solitary waves,and strong winds are the sources of the strong mixing in the northern SCS.A major consequence of the strong mixing is an active mid-deep circulation system.This system promotes exchange of water between the SCS and adjacent oceans,and also regulates the upper layer of wind-driven circulation,making the 3 dimensional SCS circulation clearly different from that in other tropical and subtropical marginal seas.The mass transport capacity of the mid-deep circulation has a substantial impact on marine sedimentation,the biogeochemical cycle,and other processes in the SCS.This paper summarizes the recent advances in middeep sea circulation dynamics of the SCS,and discusses the opportunities and challenges in this area.Dongxiao WANG Qiang WANG Shuqun CAI Xiaodong SHANG Shiqiu PENG Yeqiang SHU Jingen XIAO Xiaohui XIE Zhiwei ZHANG Zhiqiang LIU Jian LAN Dake CHEN Huijie XUE Guihua WANG Jianping GAN Xinong XIE Rui ZHANG Hui CHEN Qingxuan YANG 2019Science China Earth Sciences2019,62,12:8
2Suppressing secondary reactions of coal pyrolysis by reducing pressure and mounting internals in fixed-bed reactor显示文摘Pyrolysis of Shenmu coal was performed in fixed-bed reactors indirectly heated by reducing operating pressure and mounting internals in the reactor to explore their synergetic effects on coal pyrolysis. Mounting internals particularly designed greatly improved the heat transfer inside coal bed and raised the yield of tar production.Reducing pressure further facilitated the production of tar through its suppression of secondary reactions occurring in the reactor. The absolute increase in tar yield reached 3.33 wt% in comparison with the pyrolysis in the reactor without internals under atmospheric pressure. The obtained tar yield in the reactor with internals under reduced pressure was even higher than the yield of Gray–King assay. Through experiments in a laboratory fixed bed reactor, it was also clarified that the effect of reducing pressure is related to volatile release rate in pyrolysis. It did not obviously vary tar yield at pyrolysis temperatures below 600 °C, while the effect was evident at 650 and 700 °C but became limited again above 800 °C. 5An innovative method for the microstructural modification of TiAl alloy solidified via direct electric current application显示文摘Ti-48Al-2Cr-2Nb alloy solidified with the application of direct electric current has a refined and homogeneous microstructure without segregation. We observed an initial decrease followed by a subsequent increase in grain size and lamellar spacing, with the increase in current density. Similar trend can also be obtained by varying the amount of α2-phase(Ti_3Al). Using a directional solidification processing method,the columnar crystal microstructure transforms into an equiaxed crystal microstructure at a current density of 32–64 m A/mm^2. High dislocation density is also introduced with a minimum cross-sectional grain size of 460 μm at a current density of 64 mA/mm^2. The application of electric current alters the free energy of the critical nucleus and temperature via joule heating, causing a transformation from a columnar grain microstructure into an equiaxed grain microstructure. The increase in current density leads to a rise of the nucleation rate, and a resulting undercooling combined with temperature gradient contribute to growth of the primary phase, which finally results in grain coarsening at a critical current density of 96 mA/mm^2.The climb and cross-slip of dislocation and the migration of grain boundary ultimately create variable lamellae spacing of TiAl alloy.Zhanxing Chen Hongsheng Ding Ruirun Chen Shiqiu Liu Jingjie Guo Hengzhi Fu 2019Journal of Materials Science & Technology2019,35,1:5
6Synthesis of texture-excellent mesoporous alumina using PEG1000 as structure-directing agent显示文摘By varying concentration of PEG1000 as a structure-directing agent,mesoporous alumina with excellent textural properties was synthesized.The prepared mesoporous alumina displays high thermal stability,as shown by its textural properties at different calcination temperatures of 600-850 °C.Characterization by SEM and TEM revealed that the added PEG surfactant induced the formation of petal-like alumina.XRD results clarified that all samples were amorphous and their peaks were around the peaks of γ-alumina.N_2 adsorption-desorption analysis showed that the prepared mesoporous alumina,if with PEG1000 in hydrolysis of aluminum isopropoxide,had excellent textural properties with large specific surface area,high pore volume and suitable pore size.The petal-like structure existing in the alumina samples improved their textural parameters,and the role and influential mechanism of PEG1000 were analyzed.Kui Zhang Changming Li Jian Yu Shiqiu Gao Guangwen Xu 2017Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2017,25,1:5
7Cost-Effective Control of Ground-Level Ozone Pollution in and around Beijing显示文摘Ground level ozone pollution has become a significant air pollution problem in Beijing. Because of the complex way in which ozone is formed, it is difficult for policy makers to identify optimal control options on a cost-effective basis. This paper identi-fies and assesses a range of options for addressing this problem. We apply the Ambient Least Cost Model and compare the eco-nomic costs of control options, then recommend the most effective sequence to realize pollution control at the lowest cost. The study finds that installing of Stage II gasoline vapor recovery system at Beijing's 1446 gasoline stations would be the most cost-effective option. 8Tandem fluidized bed elutriator——Pneumatic classification of coal particles in a fluidized conveyer显示文摘Coal moisture control (CMC) in coking process, which reduces coal moisture before loading the coal into the coke oven, allows substantial reduction in coking energy consumption and increase in coke productivity. The technology is seeking to integrate the coal classification, thus calling it the coal classifying moisture control (CCMC), to separate the fine and coarse coal fractions in the CMC process so that the downstream coal crushing can only treat the coarse fraction. CCMC adopts a reactor that integrates a fluidized bottom section and a pneumatic conveying top section. The present work investigates the pneumatic classification behavior in a laboratory CCMC reactor with such a configuration by removing the coal fraction below a given size (e.g., 3.0 mm) from a 0 to 20.0 mm coal feed. The results show that the coal classification were dominated by the gas velocity in the top conveying section, and the required gas velocity for ensuring the maximal degree of removing a fine coal fraction could be roughly predicted by the Richardson and Zaki equation. 9Highly Efficient Synthesis of Environmentally Friendly Ag-modified TiO2 Nanoflowers to Enhance Photocatalytic Performance显示文摘Ag-modified TiO2 nanoflowers were prepared using a two-step process. The experimental process is green and free from contamination and can be synthesized directly at room temperature. Compared with pure TiO2, Ag-modified TiO2 enhances the absorption of visible light and effectively promotes the detachment of photoelectron pairs, Ag-TiO2 has a significantly enhanced visible light response activity to photodecomposition of methyl orange(MO). It is shown that the strong interaction between Ag nanoparticles and TiO2 enhances the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 nanoflowers. The self-made open-air reactor was used to test the photocatalytic performance of different samples. The results showed that Ag-modified TiO2 nanoflowers had excellent photodegradation ability. 10Comparison between MM5 simulations and satellite measurements during Typhoon Chanchu (2006) in the South China Sea显示文摘The fifth Pennsylvania State University and National Center for Atmospheric Research mesoscale model (MM5) is utilized to study the precipitation and wind speed during Typhoon Chanchu (2006).Five model experiments with different physical parameterizations and sea surface temperature (SST) distributions are carried out.It is found that the control experiment configured with the Blakadar boundary scheme,Resiner2 moisture,the Betts-Miller cumulus scheme and daily updated SST has the most reasonable precipitation.The MRF boundary scheme tends to simulate a dryer boundary layer and stronger vertical mixing,which can greatly reduce the intensity of tropical cyclone (TC),resulting in a smaller maximum wind speed but larger range of medium wind speed (25-30 m/s).Constant SST through the TC cycle provides more energy from ocean surface,which could cause a significant increase in TC's intensity,thus resulting in the largest overestimation on rainfall and maximum wind speed.Longitudinally-uniform SST distribution before the rapid intensification could reduce TC's intensity and heat fluxes,which can partially compensate for the overestimation of precipitation in the control experiment.YANG Lei WANG Dongxiao PENG Shiqiu 2012Acta Oceanologica Sinica2012,31,2:3

12Material parameter modeling and solution technique using birth–death element for notched metallic panel repaired with bonded composite patch显示文摘This paper seeks to outline a novel three-layer model and a new birth–death element solution technique to evaluate static strength of notched metallic panel repaired with bonded composite patch and to optimize material parameters. The higher order 3D, 8-node isotropic solid element and 8-node anisotropic layered solid element with three degrees of freedom per node are respectively implemented to model substrate panel, adhesive layer and composite patch to establish three-layer model of repaired panel. The new solving technique based on birth–death element is developed to allow solution of the stress pattern of repaired panel for identifying failure mode. The new model and its solution are used to model failure mode and residual strength of repaired panel, and the obtained results have a good agreement with the experimental findings. 13Urchin-like NiCo2S4 structures synthesized through a one-step solvothermal process for high-performance supercapacitors显示文摘Nickel cobalt sulfides (MCo2S4) have attracted considerable attention as electrode materials for supercapacitors. Herein, a sea-urchin-like NiCo2S4 material was synthesized through a one-step solvothermal process. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) 200 and thiourea were used as a shape-control age nt and sulfur source for in-s让u sulfuration, respectively. The urchin-like NiC02S4 was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area, and electrochemical measurements. The resulting NiCo2S4 with ion diffusion-favored structure demonstrated remarkable electrochemical characteristics for supercapacitor with a high specific capacitance (1334F/g at 0.5 A/g) and superior rate capability (78.1% of the original capacity from 0.5 to 20 A/g) in 6M KOH aqueous solution. Furthermore, an asymmetric supercapacitor was assembled using NiCo2S4 as a positive electrode and activated carb on (AC) as a n egative electrode. A NiCo2Sj/AC device exhibited a high energy density of 37.32 Wh/kg at a power density of 317.8 W/kg with capacity retention of 91.9% and up to 2000 charge/discharge cycles at 3 A/g. 15Novel application of red mud as disposal catalyst for pyrolysis and gasification of coal显示文摘Red mud(RM)with the high alkalinity as a catalyst was evaluated for coal pyrolysis in a fixed bed as well as CO_(2) gasification of its resultant char in a thermogravimetric analyzer(TGA).The addition of RM into coal could improve the quality of tar during pyrolysis and enhance the reactivity of char during gasification.For catalytic pyrolysis with 12 wt%RM at 600℃,the light fraction in tar was 72.0 wt%,which increased by 20.0%,compared with coal pyrolysis alone.The role of metal oxides in RM on coal pyrolysis was further clarified as well.After catalytic pyrolysis with RM,the specific surface area of resultant char increased,especially for mesoporous surface area,and meanwhile the sodium in RM was proved to migrate to the char surface.These positive factors contributed to the CO_(2) gasification activity of char.RM with the high alkalinity showed a promising catalyst candidate for coal pyrolysis and gasification in terms of its catalytic effects and low cost.Zhaohui Chen Deliang Wang Hang Yang Yusheng Zhang Yunjia Li Changming Li Jian Yu Shiqiu Gao 2021Carbon Resources Conversion2021,4,1:2
16The early-warning effects of assimilation of the observations over the large-scale slope of the “World Roof” on its downstream weather forecasting显示文摘To improve the numerical simulation of the severe snow storms occurred in the south of China and the middle/lower reaches of Changjiang River during January of 2008, the observations from the automatic weather stations (AWS) over the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau (QXP) and its surrounding areas were assimi-lated into the Weather Research and Forecasts (WRF) model using multi-cycle 3-dimensional varia-tional data assimilation (3DVAR). Due to the large-scale special topography of the QXP and its sur-rounding areas which may reach up to the mid-troposphere, the AWS located at different height on the deep slope of the plateau are different to those located on plains and take a role analogous in some extent to that of radio soundings in obtaining the vertical 'profile' information of the atmosphere, and have the advantages in the aspects of sampling frequency, location/height fixing, and synchronization. The information captured by these AWS may carry the early-warning 'strong signals' in the upstream sensitive area for the downstream weather systems to the east of the plateau and thus the assimilation of these AWS data is expected to lead to significant improvements on the simulation of the severe weather system occurred in its downstream areas through adjusting the 3-dimensional structures of the atmospheric thermal-dynamics for the initial conditions of the model. 17Economic Valuation of Health Impact of PM_(10) Pollution in Beijing from 2001 to 2006显示文摘In light of the practical need for research to inform policy in Beijing,this study evaluates the economic cost of the impact of PM 10 pollution in Beijing from 2001 to 2006,taking health as the main impact,and mortality as the main outcome.Based on the literature review,this study adopts relatively conservative parameters as the basis for calculating the health impacts.It concludes that nearly 30%of mortality among registered residents above age 30 in Beijing can be attributed to PM 10 pollution,and that the economic cost equals 0.8%-1.2%of the city's GDP over the same period.This is lower than the results of previous studies,but still high enough to warrant a commitment to solve the city's air pollution problem.Zou Wenbo Zhang Shiqiu 2010Chinese Journal of Population,Resources and Environment2010,8,2:2
