| 1 | Autophagy activation aggravates neuronal injury in the hippocampus of vascular dementia rats显示文摘It remains unclear whether autophagy affects hippocampal neuronal injury in vascular dementia. In the present study, we investigated the effects of autophagy blockade on hippocampal neuronal injury in a rat model of vascular dementia. In model rats, hippocampal CA1 neurons were severely damaged, and expression of the autophagy-related proteins beclin-1, cathepsin B and microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 was elevated compared with that in sham-operated animals. These responses were suppressed in animals that received a single intraperitoneal injection of wortmannin, an autophagy inhibitor, prior to model establishment. | 2 | Investigation of quality of life in patients with lung cancer by the EORTC QLQ-C30(V3.0) Chinese version显示文摘Objective To explore quality of life(QOL) and its influencing factors in patients with lung cancer.Methods A QOL questionnaire(European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer [EORTC] Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core 30 [QLQ-C30] Chinese version) was used with 138 patients with lung cancer participating in the study. A statistical description of the general characteristics of the patients with lung cancer was performed. The patients' QLQ-C30 scores were compared with the reference value for each dimension. To analyze the influence of QOL in different genders, age groups, and cancer stages, ttests and rank sum tests were used to compare the differences in QOL using a 5% significance level. Results The QLQ-C30 function scores in PF(physical functioning), EF(emotional functioning), SF(social functioning), and GH(global functioning), and symptom scales in NV(nausea and vomiting), DY(dyspnea), SL(insomnia), and FI(financial difficulties) were significantly different(P < 0.05) in comparison to the reference values. Female patients were worse than males(P < 0.05) in EF, NV, and DI(diarrhea). The later the stage of lung cancer, the worse the quality of life became; the functional scales in RF(role functioning), EF, CF, SF, and GH, and symptom scales in PA(pain), AP(appetite), and SL differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05). A new delay-dependent robust stability criterion is obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Based on this criterion, a state feedback controller is designed to guarantee that the closed-loop system is regular, impulse free and stable with a prescribed L2-L1 performance satisfied for all admissible parameter uncertainties. | 5 | ITS2 barcoding DNA region combined with high resolution melting(HRM) analysis of Hyoscyami Semen, the mature seed of Hyoscyamus niger显示文摘Hyoscyami Semen, the mature dried seed of Hyoscyamus niger L., has long been used as a traditional Chinese medicine to treat human diseases. Hyoscyami Semen is found in local markets in China. In markets, sellers and buyers commonly inadvertently mix the seeds of H. niger with the seeds of related species such as Hygrophila salicifolia(Vahl) Nees, Astragalus complanatus R. Br., Cuscuta australis R. Br., Cuscuta chinensis Lam., and Impatiens balsamina L. because of their similar morphologies or similar names. Thus, developing a reliable method for discriminating H. niger seeds from its adulterants is necessary to reduce confusion and ensure the safe use of Hyoscyami Semen. The present study was designed to evaluate the efficiency of high-resolution melting analysis combined with DNA barcoding(Bar-HRM) with internal transcribed spacer 2 to discriminate H. niger. Our results show that Bar-HRM successfully identified the adulterants and detected the proportion of H. niger DNA extract within an admixture. In particular, HRM detected H. niger DNA extract in A. complanatus DNA extract at concentrations as low as 1%. In conclusion, the Bar-HRM method developed in the present study for authenticating H. niger is rapid and cost-effective. For any multiset which consists of some k-long oligonucleotides, a DNA labelled graph is defined as follows: each oligonucleotide from the multiset becomes a point; two points are connected by an arc from the first point to the second one if the i rightmost uucleotides of the first point overlap with the i leftmost nucleotides of the second one. We say that a directed graph D can be(k, i;α)-labelled if it is possible to assign a label(l1(x),..., lk(x))to each point x of D such that lj(x)∈{0,...,a-1}for any j∈{1,...,k}and(x,y)∈E(D)if and only if(lk-i+1(x),..., lk(x))=(l1(y),..., li(y)). By the biological background, a directed graph is a DNA labelled graph if there exist two integers k, i such that it is(k, i; 4)-labelled. In this paper, a detailed discussion of DNA labelled graphs is given. Firstly, we study the relationship between DNA labelled graphs and some existing directed graph classes. Secondly, it is shown that for any DNA labelled graph, there exists a positive integer i such that it is(2i, i; 4)-labelled. Furthermore, the smallest i is determined, and a polynomial-time algorithm is introduced to give a(2i, i; 4)-labelling for a given DNA labelled graph.
