1Perspectives on studies on soil carbon stocks and the carbon sequestration potential of China显示文摘Soil carbon stocks and sequestration have been given a lot of attention recently in the study of terrestrial ecosystems and global climate change.This review focuses on the progress made on the estimation of the soil carbon stocks of China,and the characterization of carbon dynamics of croplands with regard to climate change,and addresses issues on the mineralization of soil organic carbon in relation to greenhouse gas emissions.By integrating existing research data,China's total soil organic carbon(SOC) stock is estimated to be 90 Pg and its inorganic carbon(SIC) stock as 60 Pg,with SOC sequestration rates in the range of 20-25 Tg/a for the last two decades.An estimation of the biophysical potential of SOC sequestration has been generally agreed as being 2 Pg over the long term,of which only 1/3 could be attainable using contemporary agricultural technologies in all of China's croplands.Thus,it is critical to enhance SOC sequestration and mitigate climate change to improve agricultural and land use management in China.There have been many instances where SOC accumulation may not induce an increased amount of decomposition under a warming scenario but instead favor improved cropland productivity and ecosystem functioning.Furthermore,unchanged or even decreased net global warming potential(GWP) from croplands with enhanced SOC has been reported by a number of case studies using life cycle analysis.Future studies on soil carbon stocks and the sequestration potential of China are expected to focus on:(1) Carbon stocks and the sequestration capacity of the earths' surface systems at scales ranging from the plot to the watershed and(2) multiple interface processes and the synergies between carbon sequestration and ecosystem productivity and ecosystem functioning at scales from the molecular level to agro-ecosystems.Soil carbon science in China faces new challenges and opportunities to undertake integrated research applicable to many areas.ZHENG JuFeng CHENG Kun PAN GenXing Pete SMITH LI LianQing ZHANG XuHui ZHENG JinWei HAN XiaoJun DU YanLing 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,35:24
2Objective assessment of bradykinesia in Parkinson’s disease using evolutionary algorithms:clinical validation显示文摘Background:There is an urgent need for developing objective,effective and convenient measurements to help clinicians accurately identify bradykinesia.The purpose of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of an objective approach assessing bradykinesia in finger tapping(FT)that uses evolutionary algorithms(EAs)and explore whether it can be used to identify early stage Parkinson’s disease(PD).Methods:One hundred and seven PD,41 essential tremor(ET)patients and 49 normal controls(NC)were recruited.Participants performed a standard FT task with two electromagnetic tracking sensors attached to the thumb and index finger.Readings from the sensors were transmitted to a tablet computer and subsequently analyzed by using EAs.The output from the device(referred to as'PD-Monitor')scaled from−1 to+1(where higher scores indicate greater severity of bradykinesia).Meanwhile,the bradykinesia was rated clinically using the Movement Disorder Society-Sponsored Revision of the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale(MDS-UPDRS)FT item.Results:With an increasing MDS-UPDRS FT score,the PD-Monitor score from the same hand side increased correspondingly.PD-Monitor score correlated well with MDS-UPDRS FT score(right side:r=0.819,P=0.000;left side:r=0.783,P=0.000).Moreover,PD-Monitor scores in 97 PD patients with MDS-UPDRS FT bradykinesia and each PD subgroup(FT bradykinesia scored from 1 to 3)were all higher than that in NC.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves revealed that PD-Monitor FT scores could detect different severity of bradykinesia with high accuracy(≥89.7%)in the right dominant hand.Furthermore,PD-Monitor scores could discriminate early stage PD from NC,with area under the ROC curve greater than or equal to 0.899.Additionally,ET without bradykinesia could be differentiated from PD by PD-Monitor scores.A positive correlation of PD-Monitor scores with modified Hoehn and Yahr stage was found in the left hand sides.Conclusions:Our study demonstrated that a simple to use device employing classifiers derived from EAs could not only be used to accurately measure different severity of bradykinesia in PD,but also had the potential to differentiate early stage PD from normality.Chao Gao Stephen Smith Michael Lones Stuart Jamieson Jane Alty Jeremy Cosgrove Pingchen Zhang Jin Liu Yimeng Chen Juanjuan Du Shishuang Cui Haiyan Zhou Shengdi Chen 2018Translational Neurodegeneration2018,7,1:3

8In Vitro Assessment of Probiotic Potential of Lactobacilus acidophilus and Antagonistic Activity Against Escherichia coli O157:H7显示文摘The antagonistic activity of Lactobacillus acidophilus KLDS1.0901,KLDS1.0902,KLDS1.1003 and NCFM against Escherichia coli O157:H7 were investigated in this study.The culture supernatants of all the L.acidophilus stains showed high bacteriostatic activities against E.coli O157:H7 and the bacteriostatic substances of their Cell-Free Supernatants(CFS)were preliminarily determined from organic acids.The bacteriostatic activity from CFS or viable L.acidophilus against E.coli O157:H7was also assessed by using co-incubation methods,CFS had high bactericidal activity against E.coli O157:H7,no viable E.coli O157:H7 was detected when 5×107 cfu of E.coli O157:H7 was added to 5 m L of CFS and incubated at 37℃for 2 h.However,L.acidophilus themselves had no bacteriostatic activity after directly contacted with E.coli O157:H7.The inhibition E.coli O157:H7adhesion and colonization of L.acidophilus were also investigated based on competition,exclusion and displacement assays.L.acidophilus KLDS1.0901,KLDS1.1003 and NCFM strains were effective to displace E.coli O157:H7 from a Caco-2 cell layer in competition and exclusion assays.However,in displacement assay,all of the strains showed no signifi cant antagonistic activities.Meanwhile,the probiotic potential of L.acidophilus strains was investigated based on adhesion assay to Caco-2 cells and antiinfl ammatory effects by IL-8 produced in Caco-2 cells.The adhesion ability and anti-infl ammatory effects of L.acidophilus strains showed a strain-dependent manner.In general,L.acidophilus KLDS1.0901 and NCFM showed better probiotic potential than KLDS1.0902 and KLDS1.1003.Thus,the use of L.acidophilus KLDS1.0901 and NCFM to prevent or treat of diseases associated induced E.coli O157:H7 in vivo was suggested.Du Jin-cheng Liu Fei Li Bai-liang Bian Xin Smith Etareri Evivie Xu Min Ding Xiu-yun Huo Gui-cheng 2017Journal of Northeast Agricultural University(English Edition)2017,24,1:1
