1A preliminary study on measurements of black carbon in the atmosphere of northwest Qilian Shan显示文摘Black carbon (BC) concentration and meteorological data are measured discontinuously from May 2009 to March 2011,at the Qilian Shan Station of Glaciology and Ecologic Environment (hereafter 'QSSGEE'),located near the terminal of the Laohugou No.12 Glacier in northwestern Qilian Shan,China.We measured the daily,monthly and seasonal variations of BC concentration in the atmosphere and discussed the possible emission sources.Black carbon background concentration in this region varied in the range of 18-72 ng/m 3 with the highest in summer and the lowest in autumn.The relations between BC concentration and surface wind direction indicated that BC concentration was higher when northwest wind prevails while lower when southeast wind prevails.Air masses backward trajectories showed the potential emission sources in the northwest.Significant positive correlations between daily mean BC concentration and relative humidity indicated that BC might be one of important cloud condensation nuclei.This hypothesis needs to be confirmed further through cloud microphysical features in this region.Shuyu Zhao Jing Ming Cunde Xiao Weijun Sun Xiang Qin 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,1:9

3Numerical simulation of a buried hot crude oil pipeline during shutdown显示文摘In this paper a mathematical model is built for a buried hot crude oil pipeline during shutdown,and an unstructured grid and polar coordinate grid are respectively applied to generating grids for the soil region and the three layers in the pipe(wax layer,pipe wall,and corrosion-inhibiting coating) . The governing equations are discretized using the fi nite volume method. 4Numerical simulation and analysis of confined turbulent buoyant jet with variable source显示文摘In this work, experimental and numerical investigations are undertaken for confined buoyant turbulent jet with varying inlet temperatures. Results of the experimental work and numerical simulations for the problem under consideration are presented. Four cases of different variable inlet temperatures and different flow rates are considered. The realizable k-ε turbulence model is used to model the turbulent flow. Comparisons show good agreements between simulated and measured results. The average deviation of the simulated temperature by realizable k-ε turbulent model and the measured temperature is within 2%. The results indicate that temperatures along the vertical axis vary, generally, in nonlinear fashion as opposed to the approximately linear variation that was observed for the constant inlet temperature that was done in a previous work. Furthermore, thermal stratification exits, particularly closer to the entrance region. Further away from the entrance region the variation in temperatures becomes relatively smaller. The stratification is observed since the start of the experiment and continues during the whole course. Numerical experiments for constant, monotone increasing and monotone decreasing of inlet temperature are done to show its effect on the buoyancy force in terms of Richardson number.EL-AMIN Mohamed F. 5Combined Effect of Magnetic Field and Thermal Dispersion on a Non-Darcy Mixed Convection显示文摘This paper is devoted to investigate the influences of thermal dispersion and magnetic field on a hot semi-infinite vertical porous plate embedded in a saturated Darcy-Forchheimer-Brinkman porous medium. The coefficient of thermal diffusivity has been assumed to be the sum of the molecular diffusivity and the dynamic diffusivity due to mechanical dispersion. The effects of transverse magnetic field parameter (Hartmann number Ha), Reynolds number Re (different velocities), Prandtl number Pr (different types of fluids) and dispersion parameter on the wall shear stress and the heat transfer rate are discussed.M. 7Simulation of buoyancy-induced turbulent flow from a hot horizontal jet显示文摘Experimental visualizations and numerical simulations of a horizontal hot water jet entering cold water into a rectangular storage tank are described.Three different temperature differences and their corresponding Reynolds numbers are considered.Both experimental visualization and numerical computations are carried out for the same flow and thermal conditions.The realizable k??model is used for modeling the turbulent flow while the buoyancy is modeled using the Boussinesq approximation.Polynomial approximations of the water properties are used to compare with the Boussinesq approximation.Numerical solutions are obtained for unsteady flow while pressure,velocity,temperature and turbulence distributions inside the water tank as well as the Froude number are analyzed.The experimental visualizations are performed at intervals of five seconds for all different cases.The simulated results are compared with the visualized results,and both of them show the stratification phenomena and buoyancy force effects due to temperature difference and density variation.After certain times,depending on the case condition,the flow tends to reach a steady state.El-AMIN M.F. 13Long-term tribocorrosion resistance and failure tolerance of multilayer carbon-based coatings显示文摘Current tribocorrosion research of metallic materials and their surface protective coatings mainly focuses on their short-term properties,with test time of 0.5‒2.0 h and a sliding distance 50‒500 m,which may significantly deviate from the practical long-term service condition and thus cause a catastrophe of marine equipments.In this study,three carbon-based multilayer coatings(Ti/DLC,TiC_(x)/DLC,and Ti‒TiC_(x)/DLC)were deposited on S32750 substrates,and both short-term and long-term tribocorrosion behaviors were investigated.The experimental results indicate that the coatings substantially improve the tribocorrosion resistance of the S32750 stainless steel.During the short-term tribocorrosion test,TiC_(x)/DLC exhibited the best tribocorrosion resistance owing to its high hardness.During the long-term tribocorrosion test,however,Ti‒TiC_(x)/DLC coating indicated the best anti-tribocorrosion performance owing to its excellent fracture toughness together with high hardness.Moreover,under 5 N,Ti‒TiC_(x)/DLC can withstand a long-term test of more than 24 h.Additionally,under a higher load of 20 N,the Ti‒TiC_(x)/DLC with a corresponding sliding distance of approximately 1,728 m maintained a low friction coefficient of approximately 0.06.However,the coating was completely worn out;this is attributable to the formation of tribocorrosion products consisting of graphitized carbon and nanocrystalline Fe_(x)O_(y).Hao LI Linlin LIU Peng GUO Lili SUN Jing WEI Yingrui LIU Shuyu LI Shuyuan WANG Kwang-Ryeol LEE Peiling KE Aiying WANG 2022Friction2022,10,10:1

15Mediator complex subunit MED25 physically interacts with DST to regulate spikelet number in rice显示文摘Grain number is a flexible trait and contributes significantly to grain yield.In rice,the zinc finger transcription factor DROUGHT AND SALT TOLERANCE(DST)controls grain number by directly regulating cytokinin oxidase!dehydrogenase 2(OsCKX2)expression.Although specific upstream regulators of the DST-OsCKX2 module have been identified,the mechanism employed by DST to regulate the expression of OsCKX2 remains unclear.Here,we demonstrate that DST-interacting protein 1(DIP1),known as Mediator subunit OsMED25,acts as an interacting coactivator of DST.Phenotypic analyses revealed that OsMED25-RNAi and the osmed25 mutant plants exhibited enlarged panicles,with enhanced branching and spikelet number,similar to the dst mutant.Genetic analysis indicated that OsMED25 acts in the same pathway as the DST-OsCKX2 module to regulate spikelet number per panicle.Further biochemical analysis showed that OsMED25 physically interacts with DST at the promoter region of OsCKX2,and then recruits RNA polymerase II(Pol II)to activate OsCKX2 transcription.Thus,OsMED25 was involved in the communication between DST and Pol II general transcriptional machinery to regulate spikelet number.In general,our findings reveal a novel function of OsMED25 in DST-OsCKX2 modulated transcriptional regulation,thus enhancing our un derstanding of the regulatory mechanism underlying DST-OsCKX2-mediated spikelet number.Lihao Lin Minmin Du Shuyu Li Chuanlong Sun Fangming Wu Lei Deng Qian Chen Chuanyou Li 2022Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2022,64,4:1

18On Stochastic Error and Computational Efficiency of the Markov Chain Monte Carlo Method显示文摘InMarkov ChainMonte Carlo(MCMC)simulations,thermal equilibria quantities are estimated by ensemble average over a sample set containing a large number of correlated samples.These samples are selected in accordance with the probability distribution function,known from the partition function of equilibrium state.As the stochastic error of the simulation results is significant,it is desirable to understand the variance of the estimation by ensemble average,which depends on the sample size(i.e.,the total number of samples in the set)and the sampling interval(i.e.,cycle number between two consecutive samples).Although large sample sizes reduce the variance,they increase the computational cost of the simulation.For a given CPU time,the sample size can be reduced greatly by increasing the sampling interval,while having the corresponding increase in variance be negligible if the original sampling interval is very small.In this work,we report a few general rules that relate the variance with the sample size and the sampling interval.These results are observed and confirmed numerically.These variance rules are derived for theMCMCmethod but are also valid for the correlated samples obtained using other Monte Carlo methods.The main contribution of this work includes the theoretical proof of these numerical observations and the set of assumptions that lead to them.Jun Li Philippe Vignal Shuyu Sun Victor M.Calo 2014Communications in Computational Physics2014,16,7:0

20A boundary surrogate model for micro/nano grooved surface structure applied in turbulence flow control over airfoil显示文摘The application of grooved surface structure is an emerging and effective means in turbulence flow control.However,for a realistic configuration,the global flow field described directly by simple application of massive grids makes it unfeasible to simulate.In this paper,a boundary surrogate model reproducing the effect of microscopic near-wall region is proposed to improve computational efficiency.The surrogate model trained with Lattice Boltzmann Method(LBM)considering the rarefied effect based on real micro/nanoflow field is new among literature,which accurately shows flow characteristics of the micro/nano structure.With this approach,numerical simulations via Reynolds-averaged Navier Stokes equations with modified wall boundary condition are performed in subsonic and transonic flow.The results show that micro/nano grooved surface structure has the effect of delaying transition from laminar to turbulence,thus reducing the skin friction significantly.Analysis of turbulence intensity and turbulence kinetic energy shows that the near-wall flow field of grooved airfoil is more stable compared with that of the smooth airfoil.The reducing rate of maximum turbulent intensity reaches 13.39%.The paper shows a perspective for further application of micro/nano groove structure to turbulence flow control in aircraft design by providing an accurate and efficient simulation method.Liyue WANG Cong WANG Shuyue WANG Sheng QIN Gang SUN Bo YOU Yongjian ZHONG 2022Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2022,35,2:0
