1The structure of turbulent flow through submerged flexible vegetation显示文摘The hydrodynamics of turbulent flow through submerged flexible vegetation is investigated in a flume using acoustic Doppler velocimetery(ADV)measurements.The flow characteristics such as the energetics and momentum transfer derived from convcntional spectral and quadrant analyses are considered as the flow encounters a finite vegetation patch.Consistent with numerous canopy flow experiments,a shear layer and coherent vortex structures near the canopy top emerge caused by Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities after the flow equilibrates with the vegetated layer.These in stabilities are commonly attributed to velocity differences between non-vegetated and vegetated canopy layers in agreement with numerous experiments and simulations conducted on dense rigid canopies.The power-spectral density function for vertical velocity turbulent fluctuations at different downstream positions starting from the edge of the vegetation layer are also computed.For a preset water depth,the dominant dimensionless frequency is found to be surprisingly invariant around 0.027 despite large differences in vegetation densities.The ejection and sweep events significantly contribute to the Reynolds stresses near the top of the vegetation.The momentum flux carried by ejections is larger than its counterpart carried by the sweeps above the canopy top.However,the momentum flux carried by sweeps is larger below the top of the canopy.Wen-xin Huai Jiao Zhang Gabriel G.Katul Yong-guang Cheng Xue Tang Wei-jie Wang 2019Journal of Hydrodynamics2019,31,2:26
2Efficacy and safety of Yunxiangjing derived from Chinese herbal medicine administered as an enema in the management of acute radiation-induced proctitis in patients with pelvic malignancy显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy and safety of Yunxiangjing(YXJ), derived from Chinese herbal medicine, in the management of acute radiation-induced proctitis(ARIP) in patients with pelvic malignancy.METHODS: Forty-eight patients with grade 2 ARIP were administered YXJ as an enema(1∶30 dilution)for 2 weeks and followed up for 2 years. All were assessed for response and ARIP grade. Quality of life(QOL) was assessed with the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core 30.RESULTS: Of the 48 patients, six(12.5%) achieved complete remission of ARIP and 28(58.3%) showed a decrease from grade 2 to grade 1 ARIP. No patient experienced a grade ≥3 toxicity. At the end of radiotherapy, patients showed significant improvements in QOL(P < 0.05). Two years after treatment, 46 patients showed no late toxicity, with only two experiencing grade 1 late toxicity.CONCLUSION: YXJ can be used as an enema to manage acute radiation-induced proctitis in cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. 3Famitinib in combination with concurrent chemoradiotherapy in patients with locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma: a phase 1, open-label, dose-escalation Study显示文摘Background:Famitinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor against multiple targets,including vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2/3,platelet-derived growth factor receptor,and stem cell factor receptor(c-kit).Previous studies have demonstrated anti-tumour activities of famitinib against a wide variety of advanced-stage solid cancers.We aimed to determine the safety and efficacy of famitinib with concurrent chemoradiotherapy(CCRT)in patients with locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC).We also evaluated the feasibility of contrast-enhanced ultrasound(D-CEUS)as a predictor of early tumour response to famitinib and to correlate functional parameters with clinical efficacy.Methods:The trial was conducted in subjects with stage III or IVa-b NPC using a 3+3 design of escalating fami-tinib doses.Briefly,subjects received 2 weeks of famitinib monotherapy followed by 7 weeks of famitinib plus CCRT.D-CEUS of the neck lymph nodes was performed at day 0,8 and 15 after famitinib was administered before starting concurrent chemoradiotherapy.End points included safety,tolerability and anti-tumour activity.Results:Twenty patients were enrolled(six each for 12.5,16.5 and 20 mg and two for 25 mg).Two patients in the 25 mg cohort developed dose-limiting toxicities,including grade 4 thrombocytopenia and grade 3 hypertension.The most common grade 3/4 adverse events were leukopenia,neutropenia and radiation mucositis.D-CEUS tests showed that more than 60%of patients achieved a perfusion parameter response after 2 weeks taking famitinib alone,and the parameter response was associated with disease improvement.In the famitinib monotherapy stage,three patients(15%)showed partial responses.The complete response rate was 65%at the completion of treatment and 95%3 months after the treatment ended.After a median follow-up of 44 months,the 3-year progression-free survival(PFS)and distant metastasis-free survival were 70%and 75%,respectively.Subjects with a decrease of perfusion parameter response,such as peak intensity decreased at least 30%after 1 week of famitinib treatment,had higher 3-year PFS(90.9%vs.44.4%,95%CI 73.7%-100%vs.11.9%-76.9%,P<0.001)than those with an increase or a reduction of less than 30%.Conclusions:The recommended famitinib dose for phase II trial is 20 mg with CCRT for patients with local advanced NPC.D-CEUS is a reliable and early measure of efficacy for famitinib therapies.Further investigation is required to confirm the effects of famitinib plus chemoradiotherapy.Qiuyan Chen Linquan Tang Na Liu Feng Han Ling Guo Shanshan Guo Jianwei Wang Huai Liu Yanfang Ye Lu Zhang Liting Liu Pan Wang Yingqin Li Qingmei He Xiaoqun Yang Qingnan Tang Yang Li YuJing Liang XueSong Sun Chuanmiao Xie Yunxian Mo Ying Guo Rui Sun Haoyuan Mo Kajia Cao Xiang Guo Musheng Zeng Haiqiang Mai Jun Ma 2018Cancer Communications2018,38,1:6

6An enriched environment reduces hippocampal inflammatory response and improves cognitive function in a mouse model of stroke显示文摘An enriched environment is used as a behavio ral intervention therapy that applies sensory,motor,and social stimulation,and has been used in basic and clinical research of va rious neurological diseases.In this study,we established mouse models of photothrombotic stroke and,24 hours later,raised them in a standard,enriched,or isolated environment for 4 weeks.Compared with the mice raised in a standard environment,the cognitive function of mice raised in an enriched environment was better and the pathological damage in the hippocampal CA1 region was remarkably alleviated.Furthermore,protein expression levels of tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 6,nuclear factorκB p65,interleukin-6,and tumor necrosis factorα,and the mRNA expression level of tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 6 were greatly lower,while the expression level of miR-146a-5p was higher.Compared with the mice raised in a standard environment,changes in these indices in mice raised in an isolated environment were opposite to mice raised in an enriched environment.These findings suggest that different living environments affect the hippocampal inflammatory response and cognitive function in a mouse model of stro ke.An enriched environment can improve cognitive function following stroke through up-regulation of miR-146a-5p expression and a reduction in the inflammatory response.Hong-Yu Zhou Ya-Ping Huai Xing Jin Ping Yan Xiao-Jia Tang Jun-Ya Wang Nan Shi Meng Niu Zhao-Xiang Meng Xin Wang 2022Neural Regeneration Research2022,17,11:1
7Base-free oxidative esterification of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural to furan-2,5-dimethylcarboxylate over n-doped carbon-supported Co/Fe bimetallic catalyst under batch-operation or continuous-flow conditions显示文摘Developing an efficient and easily available catalyst for the selective conversion of biomass-derived 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF)into furan-2,5-dimethylcarboxylate(FDMC),a valuable biomass-based monomer,remains a high demand but formidable challenge.Herein,a facile strategy for the synthesis of N-doped carbon-supported Co/Fe bimetallic catalyst(CoFe-NC)was developed,which provided an outstanding FDMC yield of 93%in a batch reactor(base-free,80℃,2 bar O_(2),4 h).Interestingly,CoFe-NC also gave a high FDMC yield of 91%under continuous-flow conditions for 80 h(5 bar O_(2),80℃,GHSV 1320 h^(-1),LHSV 0.6 h^(-1),base-free).Notably,it is the first time that a non-noble catalyst gave such a high FDMC yield under continuous-flow conditions.The introduction of Fe could greatly improve both the electron intensity of Co-N_(x)species and basicity of the catalyst,which endowed CoFe-NC with improved O_(2)activation capacity and enhanced dehydrogenation activity for the oxidation-esterification of HMF.This work delineates the efficient strategy on the construction of N-doped carbon-supported non-noble catalyst,which might open a new avenue for developing highly efficient catalyst for FDMC production.Weizhen Xie Binglin Chen Wenlong Jia Huai Liu Zheng Li Shuliang Yang Xing Tang Xianhai Zeng Yong Sun Xixian Ke Tianyuan Li Huayu Fang Lu Lin 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,,12:1
8Preparation of ultra-broadband antireflective coatings for amplifier blast shields by a sol–gel method显示文摘A type of λ/4–λ/4 ultra-broadband antireflective coating has been developed using modified low refractive silica and high refractive silica layers by a sol–gel dip coating method for amplifier blast shields of the Shen Guang Ⅱ high power laser facility(SG-Ⅱ facility). Deposition of the first layer(high refractive index silica) involves baking at 200℃ in the post-treatment step. The second layer(low refractive index, n = 1.20) uses low refractive index silica sol modified by acid catalysis. Thermal baking at temperatures no less than 500℃ for 60 min offers chemical stability, ethanol scratch resistance, and resistance to washing with water. The average residual reflection of dual-side-coated fused silica glass was less than 1% in the spectral range from 450 to 950 nm. Transmission gain has been evaluated by taking into account angular light, and the results show that the transmission gain increases with increasing light incidence. 14Comparison of Lipopolysaccharide and Protein Immunogens from Pathogenic Yersinia enterocolitica Bio-serotype 1B/O:8 and 2/O:9 using SDS-PAGE显示文摘Objective Yersinia enterocolitica is an extracellular pathogen and its related antigens interact with the host immune system.We investigated the difference in immunological characteristics between a highly pathogenic and poorly pathogenic strain of Y.enterocolitica.Methods We used SDS-PAGE and western blotting to characterize lipopolysaccharide (LPS),Yersinia outer membrane proteins (Yops),membrane proteins,and whole-cell proteins from poorly pathogenic Y.enterocolitica bio-serotype 2/O:9,isolated from China,and highly pathogenic bio-serotype 1B/O:8,isolated from Japan.Results These two strains of Y.enterocolitica had different LPS immune response patterns.Comparison of their Yops also showed differences that could have accounted for their differences in pathogenicity.The membrane and whole-cell proteins of both strains were similar;immunoblottting showed that the 35 kD and perhaps the 10 kD proteins were immunogens in both strains.Conclusion The major antigens of the two strains eliciting the host immune response were the LPS and membrane proteins,as shown by comparing protein samples with reference and purified preparations.GU Wen Peng WANG Xin QIU Hai Yan LUO Xia XIAO Yu Chun TANG Liu Ying KAN Biao XU Jian Guo JING Huai Qi 2012Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,3:0
15Structure Design of Large-scale Sow House with Fermentation Bed显示文摘In this research, the whole contact-type large-scale sow house with fermentation bed was designed. The planning area of the entire piggery was 5 700 m2 with workplace and green belts. The sow house was 93 m long and 33 m wide, a total of 3 069 m2, including office area of 60 m2 and aisle area of 107 m2. The fermentation bed had an area of 2 902 m2 with length of 88.7 m and width of 27.7m. Its area accounted for 95% of the total area of sow house. The fermentation mattress had a depth of 80 cm, and had a volume of 2 321 m3, equivalent to 733 t of coconut chaff and rice chaff. On a large fermentation bed, the areas for boars,replacement gilts, pregnant sows, obstetric tables, nursery pigs, etc. were designed.The large-scale sow house with fermentation bed was equipped with the automatic feeding system, automatic sprinkler system, automatic positioning column for pregnant sows, sows' obstetric table system, fanning wet curtain cooling system, video monitoring system, environmental monitoring(light, temperature, water, humidity,CO2, NH3) and automatic control system. Every farming area was equipped with feeding trough and water trough. The water though was fixed with overflow pipe for removing the extra water. The house could hold 500-head sows. Each sow occupied 4.9 m2 of the fermentation bed in average. 17Rapid growth of angle-confined large-domain graphene bicrystals显示文摘In the chemical vapor deposition growth of large-area graphene polycrystalline thin films, the coalescence of randomly oriented graphene domains results in a high density of uncertain grain boundaries (GBs). The structures and properties of various GBs are highly dependent on the misorientation angles between the graphene domains, which can significantly affect the performance of the graphene films and impede their industrial applications. Graphene bicrystals with a specific type of GB can be synthesized via the controllable growth of graphene domains with a predefined lattice orientation. Although the bicrystal has been widely investigated for traditional bulk materials, no successful synthesis strategy has been presented for growing two-dimensional graphene bicrystals. In this study, we demonstrate a simple approach for growing well-aligned large-domain graphene bicrystals with a confined tilt angle of 30° on a facilely recrystallized single-crystal Cu (100) substrate. Control of the density of the GBs with a misorientation angle of 30° was realized via the controllable rapid growth of subcentimeter graphene domains with the assistance of a cooperative catalytic surface-passivation treatment. 18Higher consumption of animal organ meat is associated with a lower prevalence of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis显示文摘Background:Animal organ meat(offal)is a food with high nutrient density that is popular in different parts of the world,but its relationship with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH)is unclear.We aimed to examine whether daily animal organ meat consumption is associated with the presence of NASH in individuals with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).Methods:A total of 136 Chinese adults with biopsy-proven NAFLD were included.Definite NASH was defined as NAFLD activity score≥4 and at least one point for steatosis,ballooning,and lobular inflammation.Daily animal organ meat consumption was estimated using a self-administered validated food frequency questionnaire.Logistic regression analysis was performed to assess the association between animal organ meat intake and liver disease severity.Results:The 136 participants(80.9%men)of the study had a mean±standard deviation(SD)age of 39.0±12.5 years and body mass index of 27.4±3.6 kg/m2.Prevalence of definite NASH was 65.4%.Daily median organ meat consumption was 1.30 g/1,000 kcal.Animal organ meat consumption was inversely associated with the presence of NASH even after adjustment of demographics,lifestyle variables,metabolic and dietary factors,as well as liver fibrosis stage;adjusted-odds ratios(95%confidence intervals)for NASH were 0.15(0.03,0.69)for the highest tertile and 0.18(0.05,0.70)for the medium tertile,compared to the lowest(reference)tertile of animal organ meat intake(P value for trend=0.024).Conclusions:Our results suggest for the first time that higher animal organ meat consumption is associated with a lower prevalence of NASH in Chinese individuals with biopsy-proven NAFLD.Rui Zhang Huai Zhang Yi Wang Liang-Jie Tang Gang Li Ou-Yang Huang Sui-Dan Chen Giovanni Targher Christopher D.Byrne Bin-Bin Gu Ming-Hua Zheng 2023Hepatobiliary Surgery and Nutrition2023,12,5:0
