2Changed clinical aspects of primary liver cancer in China during the past 30 years显示文摘BACKGROUND: Primary liver cancer (PLC) is one of the most frequently seen tumors in China. Thirty years ago, patients with PLC were often detected at relatively late stage, with a palpable mass or marked clinical symptoms and poor prognosis. In the past 30 years, the diagnosis and treatment of PLC have been greatly improved with better prognosis. METHODS: In order to study the changes of PLC during the 30 years, the clinical data of 3250 patients with PLC from 10 medical institutions of China were collected, ana- lyzed , and compared with those of 3254 PLC patients be- fore the 30 years. RESULTS: In the 3250 patients aged 1-80 years, with an average age of 49.1 years, the male to female ratio (2.3:1) was lower than that before the 30 years. 73.5% of the 3250 patients sought medical advice within 3 months after the onset of the disease in contrast to 63.8% before the 30 years. Compared with those patients before the 30 years the symptoms and signs were alleviated generally. The HBsAg positive rate was 81.0%, but the HCV-Ab positive rate was 13.2%. The AFP level in 75% of patients was elevated, but in the remaining 25% was normal. 1912 patients (58.8%) were confirmed pathologically. Among them 1755 patients (91.8%) had hepatocellular carcinoma. The overall resec- tion rate was 46.3%. Those who had early, middle, late stage carcinoma accounted for 29.9%, 51.5%, and 18.6%respectively in contrast to 0.4%, 47.0%, and 52.6% repor- ted before the 30 years. The 1-, 3-, 5-year survival rates of the patients were 66.1%, 39.7%, and 32.5% respectively, whereas 93.5%, 70.1%, and 59.1% for the early stage pa- tients, and 65.3%, 30.5%, and 23.5% for the middle stage patients. The half and 1-year survival rates of the late stage patients were 52.5%, and 14.7%, respectively. CONCLUSION: Comparison with the clinical data before and after the 30 years show that PLC can be diagnosed ear- ly. 3Inhibitory effects of emodin, baicalin, schizandrin and berberine on hef A gene: Treatment of Helicobacter pylori-induced multidrug resistance显示文摘AIM: To investigate the inhibitory effects of emodin, baicalin, etc.on the hefA gene of multidrug resistance(MDR) in Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori).METHODS: The double dilution method was used to screen MDR H.pylori strains and determine the minimum inhibitory concentrations(MICs) of emodin, baicalin, schizandrin, berberine, clarithromycin, metronidazole, tetracycline, amoxicillin and levofloxacin against H.pylori strains.After the screened MDR stains were treated with emodin, baicalin, schizandrin or berberine at a 1/2 MIC concentration for 48 h, changes in MICs of amoxicillin, tetracycline, levofloxacin, metronidazole and clarithromycin were determined.MDR strains with reduced MICs of amoxicillin were selected to detect the hefA mR NA expression by realtime quantitative PCR.RESULTS: A total of four MDR H.pylori strains were screened.Treatment with emodin, baicalin, schizandrin and berberine significantly decreased the MICs of amoxicillin and tetracycline against some strains, decreased by 1 to 2 times, but did not significantly change the MICs of clarithromycin, levofloxacin, and metronidazole against MDR strains.In the majority of strains with reduced MICs of amoxicillin, hef A m RNA expression was decreased; one-way ANOVA(SPSS 12.0) used for comparative analysis, P < 0.05.CONCLUSION: Emodin, baicalin, schizandrin and berberine significantly decreased the MICs of amoxicillin and tetracycline against some H.pylori strains, possibly by mechanisms associated with decreasing hefA mR NA expression.Yan-Qiang Huang Gan-Rong Huang Ming-Hui Wu Hua-Ying Tang Zan-Song Huang Xi-Han Zhou Wen-Qiang Yu Jian-Wei Su Xiao-Qiang Mo Bing-Pu Chen Li-Juan Zhao Xiao-Feng Huang Hong-Yu Wei Lian-Deng Wei 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,14:20

5Daclatasvir plus asunaprevir in treatment-na?ve patients with hepatitis C virus genotype 1b infection显示文摘AIM To assess daclatasvir plus asunaprevir(d UAL) in treatment-na?ve patients from China's Mainland, Russia and South Korea with hepatitis C virus(HCV) genotype 1 b infection. METHODS Patients were randomly assigned(3:1) to receive 24 wk of treatment with d UAL(daclatasvir 60 mg once daily and asunaprevir 100 mg twice daily) beginning on day 1 of the treatment period(immediate treatment arm) or following 12 wk of matching placebo(placebodeferred treatment arm). The primary endpoint was a comparison of sustained virologic response at posttreatment week 12(SVR12) compared with the historical SVR rate for peg-interferon plus ribavirin(70%) among patients in the immediate treatment arm. The first 12 wk of the study were blinded. Safety was assessed in d UAL-treated patients compared with placebo patients during the first 12 wk(doubleblind phase), and during 24 wk of d UAL in both arms combined.RESULTS In total, 207 patients were randomly assigned to immediate(n = 155) or placebo-deferred(n = 52) treatment. Most patients were Asian(86%), female(59%) and aged < 65 years(90%). Among them, 13% had cirrhosis, 32% had IL28 B non-CC genotypes and 53% had baseline HCV RNA levels of ≥ 6 million IU/m L. Among patients in the immediate treatment arm, SVR12 was achieved by 92%(95% confidence interval: 87.2-96.0), which was significantly higher than the historical comparator rate(70%). SVR12 was largely unaffected by cirrhosis(89%), age ≥ 65 years(92%), male sex(90%), baseline HCV RNA ≥ 6 million(89%) or IL28 B non-CC genotypes(96%), although SVR12 was higher among patients without(96%) than among those with(53%) baseline NS5 A resistanceassociated polymorphisms(at L31 or Y93 H). during the double-blind phase, aminotransferase elevations were more common among placebo recipients than among patients receiving d UAL. during 24 wk of d UAL therapy(combined arms), the most common adverse events(≥ 10%) were elevated alanine aminotransferase and upper respiratory tract infection; emergent grade 3-4 laboratory abnormalities were infrequently observed, and all grade 3-4 aminotransferase abnormalities(alanine aminotransferase, n = 9; aspartate transaminase, n = 6) reversed within 8-11 d. Two patients discontinued d UAL treatment; one due to aminotransferase elevations, nausea, and jaundice and the other due to a fatal adverse event unrelated to treatment. 7miR-374b-5p suppresses RECK expression and promotes gastric cancer cell invasion and metastasis显示文摘AIM:To profile expression of micro RNAs(mi RNAs)in gastric cancer cells and investigate the effect of mi R-374b-5p on gastric cancer cell invasion and metastasis.METHODS:An mi RNA microarray assay was performed to identify mi RNAs differentially expressed in gastric cancer cell lines(MGC-803 and SGC-7901)compared with a normal gastric epithelial cell line.Upregulation of mi R-374b-5p was newly identified and confirmed via quantitative real-time reverse transcriptionPCR(q RT-PCR).MGC-803 cells were transfected with a synthesized anti-mi R-374b-5p sequence or a control vector using Lipofectamine reagent,or treated with transfection reagent alone or phosphate-buffered saline as controls.Rate of transfection was verified after 48 h by q RT-PCR.Cells were then subjected to transwell migration,wound scratch and cell counting kit-8 assays.A bioinformatic analysis to identify mi R-374b-5p target genes was performed using mi Randa,Pic Tar and Target Scan software.A dual luciferase reporter assay was performed to evaluate the influence of mi R-374b-5p on target gene activation,and q RT-PCR and Western blot were used to evaluate the levels of target m RNA and protein following transfection with mi R-374b-5p antisense oligonucleotides.RESULTS:The microarray profiling revealed downregulation of 14(fold change<0.667;P<0.05)and upregulation of 12(fold change>1.50;P<0.05)mi RNAs in MGC-803 and SGC-7901 cells compared with GES-1 controls.The upregulation of mi R-374b-5p(fold change=1.75 and 1.64 in MGC-803 and SGC-7901,respectively;P<0.05)was confirmed by q RT-PCR.Compared with the control groups,the restoration of mi R-374b-5p expression with anti-mi R-374b-5p significantly suppressed the metastasis,invasion and proliferation of MGC-803 cells.The bioinformatic analysis predicted that the 3’untranslated region(UTR)of reversion-inducing cysteine-rich protein with Kazal motif(RECK)contains three mi R-374b-5p target sequences.RECK was verified as a target gene in a dual luciferase reporter assay showing that activation of RECK 3’UTR-pmir GLO was increased by co-transfection with mi R-374b-5p.Finally,transfection of mi R-374b-5p antisense oligonucleotides increased m RNA and protein levels of RECK in MGC-803cells(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:These findings indicate that upregulation of mi R-374b-5p contributes to gastric cancer cell metastasis and invasion through inhibition of RECK expression.Juan Xie Zhi-Hui Tan Xia Tang Ming-Shu Mo Yan-Ping Liu Run-Liang Gan Yi Li Li Zhang Guo-Qing Li 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,46:15
8Dynamic immune profiling identifies the stronger graft-versus-leukemia (GVL) effects with haploidentical allografts compared to HLA-matched stem cell transplantation显示文摘Haploidentical stem cell transplantation(haplo-SCT)achieves superior or at least comparable clinical outcomes to HLA-matched sibling donor transplantation(MSDT)in treating hematological malignancies.To define the underlying regulatory dynamics,we analyzed time courses of leukemia burden and immune abundance of haplo-SCT or MSDT from multiple dimension.First,we employed two nonirradiated leukemia mouse models which carried human AML-ETO or MLL-AF9 fusion gene to establish haplo-identical and major histocompatibility(MHC)-matched transplantation models and investigated the immune cell dynamic response during leukemia development in vivo.We found that haplo-matching the MHCs of leukemia cells with recipient mouse T cells prolonged leukemic mice survival and reduced leukemia burden.The stronger graft-versus-leukemia activity in haplo-SCT group mainly induced by decreased apoptosis and increased cytotoxic cytokine secretion including tumor necrosis factor–α,interferon-γ,pore-forming proteins and CD107a secreted by T cells or natural killer cells.Furthermore,we conducted a prospective clinical trial which enrolled 135 patients with t(8;21)acute myeloid leukemia that displayed minimal residual disease before transplantation and underwent either haplo-SCT or MSDT.The results showed that the haplo-SCT slowed the kinetics of the leukemia burden in vivo and reduced the cumulative incidence of relapse compared with MSDT.Ex vivo experiments showed that,1 year after transplantation,cytotoxic T lymphocytes from the haplo-SCT group had higher cytotoxicity than those from the MSDT group during the same period.Our results unraveled the role of immune cells in superior antileukemia effects of haplo-SCT compared with MSDT.Huidong Guo Ying-Jun Chang Yan Hong Lan-Ping Xu Yu Wang Xiao-Hui Zhang Ming Wang Huan Chen Yu-Hong Chen Feng-Rong Wang Wei-Han Yu-Qian Sun Chen-Hua Yan Fei-Fei Tang Xiao-Dong Mo Kai-Yan Liu Xiao-Jun Huang 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,5:11
9Helicobacter pylori isolates from ethnic minority patients in Guangxi:Resistance rates,mechanisms,and genotype显示文摘AIM:To investigate the rate of Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)resistance to clarithromycin among ethnic minority patients in Guangxi,explore the underlyingmechanisms,and analyze factors influencing genotype distribution of H.pylori isolates.METHODS:H.pylori strains were isolated,cultured and subjected to drug sensitivity testing.The 23S rRNA gene of H.pylori isolates was amplified by PCR and analyzed by PCR-RFLP and direct sequencing to detect point mutations.REP-PCR was used for genotyping of H.pylori isolates,and NTsys_2 software was used for clustering analysis based on REP-PCR DNA fingerprints.Factors potentially influencing genotype distribution of H.pylori isolates were analyzed.RESULTS:The rate of clarithromycin resistance was31.3%.A2143G and A2144G mutations were detected in the 23S rRNA gene of all clarithromycin-resistant H.pylori isolates.At a genetic distance of 78%,clarithromycin-resistant H.pylori isolates could be divided into six groups.Significant clustering was noted among H.pylori isolates from patients with peptic ulcer or gastritis.CONCLUSION:The rate of clarithromycin resistance is relatively high in ethnic minority patients in Guangxi.Main mechanisms of clarithromycin resistance are A2143G and A2144G mutations in the 23S rRNA gene.Clarithromycin-resistant H.pylori isolates can be divided into six groups based on REP-PCR DNA fingerprints.Several factors such as disease type may influence the genotype distribution of H.pylori isolates.Li-Juan Zhao Yan-Qiang Huang Bing-Pu Chen Xiao-Qiang Mo Zan-Song Huang Xiao-Feng Huang Lian-Deng Wei Hong-Yu Wei Yuan-Hong Chen Hua-Ying Tang Gan-Rong Huang Yan-Chun Qin Xiao-Hua Li Lu-Yao Wang 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,16:11
10Abnormal strain changes observed at Guza before the Wenchuan earthquake显示文摘An YRY-4 type borehole strainmeter at Guza station on the southwest end of the Longmenshan fault zone recorded anomalous changes from time to time since about one year before the Wenchuan earthquake.The anomaly is characterized by steps and/or asymmetrical pulses of short-periods(minutes-hours).Among about one hundred stations over the mainland of China,only Guza,the nearest one to the seismic area,observed such changes.A self-check function of the strainmeter helps confirm the credibility of the observation.The anomalous signals do not correspond to seasonal changes.The consistency in the sense of strain among long-term,anomalous interfering and coseismic changes suggests that they all resulted from the background tectonic movement.Results of an Overrun Rate Analysis further illustrate a close temporal relevance of the anomaly to the Wenchuan earthquake:its increase before,and decrease after the biggest changes during the main shock.The abnormal changes are attributed to local small-scale fractures with an evidential clue that the only Ms4.5 foreshock near Guza station on February 27,2008 produced the biggest anomalous change.By means of Wavelet Decomposition,it is revealed that longer period portion of the anomaly took place later before the main shock,consistent with the idea that scales of small fractures increase during earthquake preparation process.The anomalous strain changes are analogous to the stress changes observed before the 1976 Tangshan earthquake.QIU ZeHua ZHANG BaoHong CHI ShunLiang TANG Lei SONG Mo 2011Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,2:10
11Cloning and characterization of squalene synthase and cycloartenol synthase from Siraitia grosvenorii显示文摘Mogrosides and steroid saponins are tetracyclic triterpenoids found in Siraitia grosvenorii.Squalene synthase(SQS) and cycloartenol synthase(CAS) are key enzymes in triterpenoid and steroid biosynthesis.In this study,full-length cDNAs of SgSQS and SgCAS were cloned by a rapid amplification of cDNA-ends with polymerase chain reaction(RACE-PCR) approach.The SgSQS cDNA has a 1254 bp open reading frame(ORF) encoding 417 amino acids,and the SgCAS cDNA contains a 2298 bp ORF encoding 765 amino acids.Bioinformatic analysis showed that the deduced SgSQS protein has two transmembrane regions in the C-terminal.Both SgSQS and SgCAS have significantly higher levels in fruits than in other tissues,suggesting that steroids and mogrosides are competitors for the same precursors in fruits.Combined in silico prediction and subcellular localization,experiments in tobacco indicated that SgSQS was probably in the cytoplasm or on the cytoskeleton,and SgCAS was likely located in the nucleus or cytosol.These results will provide a foundation for further study of SgSQS and SgCAS gene functions in S.grosvenorii,and may facilitate improvements in mogroside content in fruit by regulating gene expression.Huan Zhao Qi Tang Changming Mo Longhua Bai Dongping Tu Xiaojun Ma 2017Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2017,7,2:10
12Locoregional extension patterns of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and suggestions for clinical target volume delineation显示文摘Clinical target volume (CTV) delineation is crucial for tumor control and normal tissue protection. This study aimed to define the locoregional extension patterns of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and to improve CTV delineation. Magnetic resonance imaging scans of 2366 newly diagnosed NPC patients were reviewed. According to incidence rates of tumor invasion, the anatomic sites surrounding the nasopharynx were classified into high-risk (>30%), medium-risk (5%-30%), and low-risk (<5%) groups. The lymph node (LN) level was determined according to the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group guidelines, which were further categorized into the upper neck (retropharyngeal region and level Ⅱ), middle neck (levels Ⅲ and Va), and lower neck (levels Ⅳ and Vb and the supraclavicular fossa). The high-risk anatomic sites were adjacent to the nasopharynx, whereas those at medium- or low-risk were separated from the nasopharynx. If the high-risk anatomic sites were involved, the rates of tumor invasion into the adjacent medium-risk sites increased; if not, the rates were significantly lower (P < 0.01). Among the 1920 (81.1%) patients with positive LN, the incidence rates of LN metastasis in the upper, middle, and lower neck were 99.6% , 30.2%, and 7.2%, respectively, and skip metastasis happened in only 1.2% of patients. In the 929 patients who had unilateral upper neck involvement, the rates of contralateral middle neck and lower neck involvement were 1.8% and 0.4%, respectively. Thus, local disease spreads stepwise from proximal sites to distal sites, and LN metastasis spreads from the upper neck to the lower neck. 13Novel DPY19L2 variants in globozoospermic patients and the overcoming this male infertility显示文摘Globozoospermia has been reported to be a rare but severe causation of male infertility,which results from the failure of acrosome biogenesis and sperm head shaping.Variants of dpy-19-like 2(DPY19L2)are highly related to globozoospermia,but related investigations have been mainly performed in patients from Western countries.Here,we performed a screening of DPY19L2 variants in a cohort of Chinese globozoospermic patients and found that five of nine patients carried DPY19L2 deletions and the other four patients contained novel DPY19L2 point mutations,as revealed by whole-exome sequencing.Patient 3(P3)contained a heterozygous variant(c.2126+5G>A),P6 contained a homozygous nonsense mutation(c.1720C>T,p.Arg574*),P8 contained compound heterozygous variants(c.H82-1184delATCf p.Leu394_Ser395deIinsPhe;c.368A>T,p.Hisl23Arg),and P9 contained a heterozygous variant(c.H82-1184delATCTTI frameshift).We also reported intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI)outcomes in the related patients,finding that ICSI followed by assisted oocyte activation(AOA)with calcium ionophore achieved high rates of live births.In summary,the infertility of these patients results from DPY19L2 dysfunction and can be treated by ICSI together with AOA.Yong-Liang Shang Fu-Xi Zhu Jie Yan Liang Chen Wen-Hao Tang Sai Xiao Wei-Ke Mo Zhi-Guo Zhang Xiao-Jin He Jie Qiao Yun-Xia Cao Wei Li 2019Asian Journal of Andrology2019,21,2:9
14Roles of dietary supplementation with arginine or N-carbamylglutamate in modulating the inflammation, antioxidant property, and m RNA expression of antioxidant-relative signaling molecules in the spleen of rats under oxidative stress显示文摘This study evaluated the effects of arginine(Arg) or N-carbamylglutamate(NCG) on inflammation, antioxidant property, and antioxidant-related gene expression in rat spleen under oxidative stress. A total of 52 rats were randomly distributed into 4 treatment groups with 13 replicates per group. Rats were fed a basal diet(BD) or BD supplemented with Arg or NCG for 30 days. On day 28, half of the BD-fed rats were intraperitoneally injected with sterile saline(control group), and the other half with 12 mg/kg body weight of diquat(DT; DT group). The other 2 diet groups were intraperitoneally injected with 12 mg/kg body weight of DT with either Arg(1%)(DT t Arg) or NCG(0.1%)(DT t NCG). Rat spleen samples were collected for analysis at 48 h after DT injection. Results showed that DT damaged the antioxidant defense in rats compared with the control group(P < 0.05). Compared with the DT group, the DT t Arg and DT t NCG groups manifested improved anti-hydroxyl radical, catalase, and total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD) activities, increased glutathione content(P < 0.05), and decreased malondialdehyde content(P < 0.05).Moreover, compared with the DT group, the DT t Arg and DT t NCG groups enhanced mRNA expression of superoxide dismutase(SOD), glutathione peroxidase 1(GPx1), glutathione reductase(GR), nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2), Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1(Keap-1), and mammalian target of rapamycin(m TOR)(P < 0.05). Both NCG and Arg significantly increased anti-inflammatory cytokine mRNA level but suppressed the pro-inflammatory cytokine mRNA expression under oxidative stress(P < 0.05). In summary, NCG and Arg effectively alleviated oxidative stress, improved the antioxidant capacity and regulated the antioxidant-related signaling molecular expression in rat spleen. 15Development and validation of an endoscopic images-based deep learning model for detection with nasopharyngeal malignancies显示文摘Background:Due to the occult anatomic location of the nasopharynx and frequent presence of adenoid hyperpla-sia,the positive rate for malignancy identification during biopsy is low,thus leading to delayed or missed diagnosis for nasopharyngeal malignancies upon initial attempt.Here,we aimed to develop an artificial intelligence tool to detect nasopharyngeal malignancies under endoscopic examination based on deep learning.Methods:An endoscopic images-based nasopharyngeal malignancy detection model(eNPM-DM)consisting of a fully convolutional network based on the inception architecture was developed and fine-tuned using separate training and validation sets for both classification and segmentation.Briefly,a total of 28,966 qualified images were collected.Among these images,27,536 biopsy-proven images from 7951 individuals obtained from January 1st,2008,to December 31st,2016,were split into the training,validation and test sets at a ratio of 7:1:2 using simple randomiza-tion.Additionally,1430 images obtained from January 1st,2017,to March 31st,2017,were used as a prospective test set to compare the performance of the established model against oncologist evaluation.The dice similarity coef-ficient(DSC)was used to evaluate the efficiency of eNPM-DM in automatic segmentation of malignant area from the background of nasopharyngeal endoscopic images,by comparing automatic segmentation with manual segmenta-tion performed by the experts.Results:All images were histopathologically confirmed,and included 5713(19.7%)normal control,19,107(66.0%)nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC),335(1.2%)NPC and 3811(13.2%)benign diseases.The eNPM-DM attained an overall accuracy of 88.7%(95%confidence interval(CI)87.8%-89.5%)in detecting malignancies in the test set.In the prospective comparison phase,eNPM-DM outperformed the experts:the overall accuracy was 88.0%(95%CI 86.1%-89.6%)vs.80.5%(95%CI 77.0%-84.0%).The eNPM-DM required less time(40 s vs.110.0±5.8 min)and exhibited encouraging performance in automatic segmentation of nasopharyngeal malignant area from the background,with an average DSC of 0.78±0.24 and 0.75±0.26 in the test and prospective test sets,respectively.Conclusions:The eNPM-DM outperformed oncologist evaluation in diagnostic classification of nasopharyngeal mass into benign versus malignant,and realized automatic segmentation of malignant area from the background of nasopharyngeal endoscopic images.Chaofeng Li Bingzhong Jing Liangru Ke Bin Li Weixiong Xia Caisheng He Chaonan Qian Chong Zhao Haiqiang Mai Mingyuan Chen Kajia Cao Haoyuan Mo Ling Guo Qiuyan Chen Linquan Tang Wenze Qiu Yahui Yu Hu Liang Xinjun Huang Guoying Liu Wangzhong Li Lin Wang Rui Sun Xiong Zou Shanshan Guo Peiyu Huang Donghua Luo Fang Qiu Yishan Wu Yijun Hua Kuiyuan Liu Shuhui Lv Jingjing Miao Yanqun Xiang Ying Sun Xiang Guo Xing Lv 2018Cancer Communications2018,38,1:9

17Revisiting the sex pheromone of the fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda,a new invasive pest in South China显示文摘The fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda is a worldwide serious agricultural pest,and recently invaded South China.Sex pheromone can be employed to monitor its population dynamics accurately in the field.However,the pheromone components previously reported by testing different geographic populations and strains are not consistent.On the basis of confirming that the S.frugiperda population from Yunnan Province belonged to the com strain,we analyzed the potential sex pheromone components in the pheromone gland extracts of females using gas chromatography coupled with electroan-tennographic detection(GC-EAD),gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry(GC-MS)and electroantennography(EAG).The results show that(Z)-9-tetradecenal acetate(Z9-14:Ac),(Z)-11-hexadecenyl acetate(Z11-16:Ac),(Z)-7-dodecenyl acetate(Z7-12:Ac)or(E)-7-dodecenyl acetate(E7-12:Ac)with a ratio of 100:15.8:3.9 induced EAD responses to varying degrees:Z9-14:Ac elicited a strong EAD response,Z7-12:Ac or E7-12:Ac elicited a small but clear EAD response,while Z11-16:Ac elicited a weak EAD response.Further single sensillum recording(SSR)showed that Z9-14:Ac and Z7-12:Ac induced dose-dependent activities in two types(A and B)of sensilla in male antennae,respectively,while the sensilla in response to E7-12:Ac and Z11-16:Ac was not recorded.Finally,wind tunnel tests reveal that Z9-14:Ac and Z7-12:Ac are two principal sex pheromone components of the tested population.Nan-Ji Jiang Bao-Tong Mo Hao Guo Jun Yang Rui Tang Chen-Zhu Wang 2022Insect Science2022,29,3:8
18Role of AMPK in atherosclerosis via autophagy regulation显示文摘Atherosclerosis is characterized by the accumulation of lipids and deposition of fibrous elements in the vascular wall, which is the primary cause of cardiovascular diseases. Adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase(AMPK) is a metabolic sensor of energy metabolism that regulates multiple physiological processes, including lipid and glucose metabolism and the normalization of energy imbalances. Overwhelming evidence indicates that AMPK activation markedly attenuates atherosclerosis development. Autophagy inhibits cell apoptosis and inflammation and promotes cholesterol efflux and efferocytosis. Physiological autophagy is essential for maintaining normal cardiovascular function. Increasing evidence demonstrates that autophagy occurs in developing atherosclerotic plaques. Emerging evidence indicates that AMPK regulates autophagy via a downstream signaling pathway. The complex relationship between AMPK and autophagy has attracted the attention of many researchers because of this close relationship to atherosclerosis development. This review demonstrates the role of AMPK and autophagy in atherosclerosis. 19Wolbachia infection dynamics by reaction-diffusion equations显示文摘Dengue fever is caused by the dengue virus and transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes.A promising avenue for eradicating the disease is to infect the wild aedes population with the bacterium Wolbachia driven by cytoplasmic incompatibility(CI).When releasing Wolbachia infected mosquitoes for population replacement,it is essential to not ignore the spatial inhomogeneity of wild mosquito distribution.In this paper,we develop a model of reaction-diffusion system to investigate the infection dynamics in natural areas,under the assumptions supported by recent experiments such as perfect maternal transmission and complete CI.We prove non-existence of inhomogeneous steady-states when one of the diffusion coefficients is sufficiently large,and classify local stability for constant steady states.It is seen that diffusion does not change the criteria for the local stabilities.Our major concern is to determine the minimum infection frequency above which Wolbachia can spread into the whole population of mosquitoes.We find that diffusion drives the minimum frequency slightly higher in general.However,the minimum remains zero when Wolbachia infection brings overwhelming fitness benefit.In the special case when the infection does not alter the longevity of mosquitoes but reduces the birth rate by half,diffusion has no impact on the minimum frequency.HUANG Mu Gen TANG Mo Xun YU Jian She 2015Science China Mathematics2015,58,1:8
20Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome.
