| 1 | Numerical prediction experiment on Typhoon Maggie (9903)显示文摘The movement of Typhoon Maggie (9903) in June 1999 is one of the rare cases ever seen in the history. At 00U on June 6 Maggie was located at about 70 km to the southwest of Taiwan. When it arrived at the coastal region of Shanwei City (22.8N, 116.5E), it turned suddenly to move southwestward along the southern China coastal line. De June 7 Maggie finally turned to move northward, making landfall to the north of Shangchuan Island. The experimental numerical prediction system on typhoon movement that was designed based on MM5 is proved quite successful for the 48h prediction of Maggie’s movement and rainfall. The mean prediction error of typhoon track is 81 km for 0-24 h and 74 km for 24-48 h. The location of typhoon center in the initial field of the model is approximately 100 km away from the actual observations. In order to modify the location of typhoon center, a bogus typhoon was intro- duced into the model and the prediction of typhoon track was improved in 0-24 h time interval. But the prediction error was enlarged in 24-36 h. We also performed a sensitivity experiment of changing the land of southern China into the ocean. | 2 | Spatiotemporal Changes of Hazard Intensity-Adjusted Population Exposure to Multiple Hazards in Tibet During 1982–2015显示文摘The dynamic changes of population exposure to hazards in high-altitude areas are an important factor in the scientific evaluation of environmental risks. In this study,the hazards of hypoxia, earthquakes, and snowstorms in Tibet were respectively described by the percentage of oxygen at sea level, earthquake intensity, and mean annual maximum snow depth. The rates of population affected by hypoxia, earthquakes, and snowstorms were calculated by chronic mountain sickness and historical disaster data.Based on these, the study examined the change in population exposure to the three hazards and their combinations by hazard intensity level at the 1 km 9 1 km grid scale in1982–2015. The results show that population exposures to hypoxia, earthquakes, and snowstorms were about 745 thousand, 97 thousand, and 168 thousand in 2015,respectively, among a total population in Tibet of 3.24 million. These exposures were mainly concentrated in the3400–5000 m above sea level zone. The population exposed to hypoxia and earthquakes showed a rising trend from 1982 to 2015, while the population exposed tosnowstorms decreased after 2000 due to reduced snowstorm intensity. Hypoxia-earthquake and hypoxia-snowstorm are the main multiple hazard combinations that people in Tibet suffered from and their personátime exposures were estimated at around 842 thousand and 913 thousand in 2015, respectively, with an average annual increase of 1.7% and 1.3%. Hypoxia is the most important health risk in Tibet. | 3 | AN INNER-FEEDBACK-STYLE TRAVELING-WAVE TUBE OSCILLATOR显示文摘A new concept of inner-feedback-style traveling wave tube oscillator, which is based on a traveling-wave tube having a partial reflector located at near the junction between the slow-wave structure and the output coupler and a mechanical tuner connected to the input coupler, is proposed. Simulations by CHIPIC code show that the inner-feedback-style traveling wave tube oscillator having 100W of power, about 10% of electron efficiency and a tunable band of 73.35-73.91 GHz may be achieved. | 20 | Sulfurized hematite for photo-Fenton catalysis显示文摘A hematite/amorphous sulfur composite was prepared via simple heating hematite and α-sulfur in Teflon-lined autoclave at low temperature. The composite was characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), Raman spectrum,Thermal Gravity Analysis(TGA), Transmission Electron Microscopy(TEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). The results revealed that an allotrope sulfur at 5-37% weight percent was found in the composite.After sulfuration, S_n^(2-) or S_2^(2-) was doped in the lattice of hematite, large amounts of OH and SO_4 were adsorbed on the surface of hematite. Hematite/amorphous sulfur composite had superior photo-Fenton activities than pure hematite. This work also demonstrated that amorphous sulfur also had the activity of photo-Fenton catalysis. OH^-and SO_4 radicals facilitated dye adsorption and acted as a bridge to link H_2 O_2.
