1δ^(13)C and water-use efficiency indicated by δ^(13)C of different plant functional groups on Changbai Mountains, Northeast China显示文摘Leaf δ13C of different plant functional groups (trees, shrubs and forbs; evergreen and deciduous; annual, biennial and perennial) were examined on the Changbai Mountains, China. Life form has a significant influence on plant δ13C, suggesting that leaf δ13C is also ideal for distinguishing functional groups species in temperate and frigid zones with high humidity. Additionally, the difference of water-use efficiency (WUE) is significant among different plant functional groups. δ13C and WUE are in the following order of forbs < shrubs < trees. Within shrubs, δ13C and WUE are higher for evergreen shrubs than deciduous shrubs. 2Emerging Views on the Overall Process Treatment of Municipal Domestic Waste for the Sustainable Use of Landfills in China显示文摘1.Introduction With the continuous improvement of living standards and the rapid development of urbanization,the annual production of municipal domestic waste in China has reached over 2108 t and is expected to increase in the future.Landfill technology,which is the main method for the traditional treatment of domestic waste,accounts for more than 60%of the total treatment in China.However,current single-landfill technologies have a series of problems(Fig.1(a)).First,recyclable resources within the vast amount of domestic waste often cannot be recycled and utilized,thereby causing resources to be wasted and deviated from sustainable cycles.Second,the amount of domestic waste that is decomposed and disposed of by landfill technology is considerably less than the amount entering landfill sites each year.Accordingly,a large area of valuable land must be developed for the construction of new landfill sites.Wenbing Tan Beidou Xi Xinyu Zhao Qiuling Dang 2020Engineering2020,6,7:4

4Soil aggregate fraction-based ^(14)C analysis and its application in the study of soil organic carbon turnover under forests of different ages显示文摘There still exist uncertainties in the trend, magnitude and efficiency of carbon sequestration with regard to the changes in soil organic carbon (SOC) pools after afforestation. In this study, SOC turnover times of the meadow steppe and planted forests at Saihanba Forest Station of Hebei Province, China are estimated by means of the radiocarbon ( 14C) method. Our results show that the SOC turnover times can be as long as from 70 to 250 years. After planting the Pinus sylvestri var. mongolica in the Leymus chinensis meadow steppe, the turnover times of organic carbon in both bulk samples and soil aggregate fractions of the topsoils are decreased with an increase of the stand age. Such a lowering of the turnover time would cause an increase in soil CO2 flux, implying that afforestation of grassland may reduce the capacity of topsoil to sequestrate organic carbon. Combined stable isotope and 14C analyses on soil aggregate fractions suggest that there are different responses to afforestation of grassland between young and old carbon pools in topsoils. In the young and middle-age planted forests, the proportion of CO 2 emission from the older soil carbon pool shows an increasing trend. But in the mature planted forest, its proportion tends to decline, indicating that the stand age may influence the soil carbon sequestration mechanism. The CO2 emission from the topsoils estimated using the 14 C method is relatively low compared to those by other methods and may be caused by the partial isolation of the young carbon component from the soil aggregates. 5Top coal caving mining technique in thick coal seam beneath the earth dam显示文摘It is important to study the mining technology under structures for raising the coal resources recovery ratio. Based on the geological and mining conditions, the top coal caving harmonic mining technique in thick coal seam beneath the earth dam was put forward and studied. The 5 factors such as the panel mining direction, panel size, panel location, panel mining sequence and panel advance velocity were taken into account in this technique. The dam movement and deformation were predicted after the thick coal seam mining and the effects of mining on the dam were studied. By setting up the surveying stations on the dam, the movement and deformation of the dam were observed during mining. By taking some protective measures on the dam, the top coal caving mining technique in thick coal seam beneath the earth dam was carried out successfully. The study demonstrates that harmonic mining in thick coal seam is feasible under the dam. 7Mutations associated with egg adaptation of influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 virus in laboratory based surveillance in China, 2009–2016显示文摘Mutations of influenza virus associated with adaptation occurring during passage in embryonated chicken eggs could result in antigenic change or reduced vaccine effectiveness.In this study,we investigated the mutations of influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 egg isolates from the Chinese National Influenza Surveillance Network between 2009 and 2016.Thirteen mutations were identified in the hemagglutinin(HA)protein from viruses passaged in eggs,in comparing to those in cells.After scanning public database,four mutations,D127E,L191I,D222G/N and Q223R in HA1,which may alter the receptor-binding specificity,were observed frequently.Although the A(H1N1)pdm09 virus has evolved in human for nearly ten years,most egg-cultured viruses acquired one or more further mutations.Using the egg isolates for influenza surveillance requires extra caution because of these selected mutations,and their impacts on antigenicity and receptor-binding property need further evaluation.Currently,most of the influenza vaccines are produced using egg isolates,particularly in China.Thus,there is an urge to promote the establishment of an alternative influenza vaccine production platform.Lei Yang Yanhui Cheng Xiang Zhao Hejiang Wei Minju Tan Xiyan Li Wenfei Zhu Weijuan Huang Wenbing Chen Jia Liu Zi Li Yuelong Shu Dayan Wang 2019Biosafety and Health2019,1,1:1

9The “neighbor avoidance effect” of microplastics on bacterial and fungal diversity and communities in different soil horizons显示文摘Microplastics are a new type of environmental pollutant,and pose a serious threat to soil ecosystems.It is important to study microplastics effects on soil microorganisms to better understand their effects on terrestrial ecosystems.Therefore,we collected soil and microplastic samples from corn,pepper,peanut and cucumber fields in Shunyi District,Beijing,China,and used Illumina MiSeq high-throughput sequencing technology to analyze bacterial and fungal community composition and diversity.We focused on microplastic surface and its surrounding“rhizosphere-like”soil in the 0e10 cm(humus)and 10e20 cm(eluvial)deep horizons.Microbial richness and diversity on microplastic surface were significantly lower than those in surrounding“rhizosphere-like”soil,and microbial richness and diversity were reduced to a greater extent in the humus horizon than in the eluvial horizon.Microplastics likely enriched the microbes involved in their biodegradation.The relative abundance levels of Cyanobacteria and Basidiomycota on microplastic surfaces were significantly higher than those in surrounding“rhizosphere-like”soil,while the relative abundance levels of Acidobacteria,Chloreflexi,and Mortierellomycota were higher in“rhizosphere-like”soil.Furthermore,the relative abundance levels of pathways related to human diseases,animal pathogen,and fungal parasites were significantly higher on microplastic surfaces than in“rhizosphere-like”soil.These results show that the microbial diversity,richness,community structure and function between microplastic surfaces and surrounding“rhizosphere-like”soil are significantly different,leading to a“rhizosphere-like neighbor avoidance effect”between microplastic surfaces and the surrounding soil.Hong Yu Ying Zhang Wenbing Tan 2021Environmental Science and Ecotechnology2021,,4:1
10Lignin-phenol monomers govern the pyrolytic conversion of natural biomass from lignocellulose to products显示文摘The effect of the interaction between lignin-phenol monomers and holocellulose in natural biomass on the distribution of pyrolysis products remains unknown.The results of this study showed that the interaction between lignin and holocellulose during the pyrolysis of natural biomass became more pronounced as the pyrolysis temperature increased.The interaction between lignin and holocellulose in the natural crosslinked structure promoted the generation of CO and inhibited the generation of CO2 at 750C.Lignin inhibited the decarboxylic reaction of hemicellulose during pyrolysis but was important for the generation of levoglucosan during cellulose pyrolysis.Holocellulose slowed the demethoxyreaction of lignin guaiacol but promoted the removal of aliphatic hydrocarbon substituents from the aromatic ring.The cinnamyl phenol monomers of lignin increased the rates of change of biomass pyrolysis products with the lignin mass fraction at 400C.However,when the pyrolysis temperature increased to 750C,all types of lignin phenol monomers increased the rates of change of the biomass pyrolysis products.Our results provide new insights that have implications for the development of pyrolysis techniques for the resource recycling of various types of biomass for the preparation of high-grade gaseous and liquid fuels.Hualing Hu Wenbing Tan Beidou Xi 2021Environmental Science and Ecotechnology2021,,4:1
11Understanding sequence effect in DNA bending elasticity by molecular dynamic simulations显示文摘Structural elasticity of double-strand DNAs is very important for their biological functions such as DNA-ligand binding and DNA-protein recognition.By all-atom molecular dynamics simulations,we investigated the bending elasticity of DNA with three typical sequences including poly(A)-poly(T)(AA-TT),poly(AT)-poly(TA)(AT-TA),and a generic sequence(GENE).Our calculations indicate that,AA-TT has an apparently larger bending persistence length(P~63 nm)than GENE(P~49 nm)and AT-TA(P~48 nm)while the persistence length of AT-TA is only very slightly smaller than that of GENE,which agrees well with those from existing works.Moreover,through extensive electrostatic calculations,we found that the sequence-dependent bending elasticity is attributed to the sequence-dependent electrostatic bending energy for AA-TT,AT-TA and GENE,which is coupled to their backbone structures.Particularly,the apparently stronger bending stiffness of AA-TT is attributed to its narrower minor groove.Interestingly,for the three DNAs,we predicted the non-electrostatic persistence length of~17 nm,thus electrostatic interaction makes the major contribution to DNA bending elasticity.The mechanism of electrostatic energy dominating sequence effect in DNA bending elasticity is furtherly illustrated through the electrostatic calculations for a grooved coarse-grained DNA model where minor groove width and other microscopic structural parameters can be artificially adjusted.Xiao-Wei Qiang Hai-Long Dong Kai-Xin Xiong Wenbing Zhang Zhi-Jie Tan 2021Communications in Theoretical Physics2021,73,7:0
12Mechanical properties and damage characteristics of solidified body-coal combination in continuous driving and gangue backfilling显示文摘Recovery of the coal buried under buildings,railways and water bodies and the residual coal in irregularly arranged fully mechanized mining faces is a common engineering problem facing underground coal mining.In this study,a mining technology of continuous driving and gangue backfilling(CDGB)was proposed.The technology,which can not only alleviate ground subsidence and gangue discharge,but also release the above-mentioned coals,contributes to green and efficient sustainable development of mining.The stability of the system of the solidified body-reserved coal pillar combination(S-C combination)is crucial to the CDGB technology.Therefore,it is of great significance to explore the mechanical and damage characteristics of S-C combination in the synergistic bearing process.First,four sets of differentshaped S-C combination specimens were fabricated and a S-C combination bearing structure in CDGB was constructed to explore the differences in mechanical characteristics and damage modes of different-shaped S-C combination specimens during CDGB.Subsequently,their surface strain field evolutions and acoustic emission(AE)response characteristics in the load-bearing process were obtained with the aid of the digital image correlation technique and the AE signal monitoring system.Furthermore,a damage evolution model based on AE parameters and mechanical parameters was established to clarify the damage evolution law.The following results were obtained:(1)The free area of S-C combination can serve as a quantitative index to evaluate the stability of the overburden control system;(2)The concept of critical value k of the free area was first proposed.When the free area exceeds the critical value k(free area ratio greater than 1.13),the deformation resistance and the free area changes becomes negatively correlated;(3)As the free area expands,the failure of the S-C combination specimen evolves from tensile failure to shear failure.The distribution characteristics of the axial strain field also verified such a change in the failure mode;(4)When the free area expands,the peak AE count gradually changes from“double peaks”to“a single peak”.In this process,the expansion of free area shortens the time for accumulating and releasing energy during loading.Micro cracks generated in the specimen change from a phased steep growth to a continuous increase,and the process in which micro cracks develop,converge,intersect and connect to form macro cracks accelerates.The damage evolution law concluded based on AE parameters and mechanical parameters can well characterize the damage evolution process of S-C combination,providing certain reference for the study on the synergistic bearing of S-C combination during CDGB.Yi Tan Hao Cheng Wenbing Guo Erhu Bai Shaopu Zhang Yu Wang Zihao Li 2023International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2023,33,10:0
13Study on the Forming Process of Yi Medicine Tongfeng Granules显示文摘[Objectives]To optimize the forming process of Yi medicine Tongfeng Granules.[Methods]The forming process of Yi medicine Tongfeng Granules was optimized,with paste density,ethanol volume fraction,and type and proportion of excipient as influencing factors,and granule formability,solubility,moisture absorption,and angle of repose as evaluation indicators.Critical relative humidity(CRH)was investigated to select optimal storage conditions.[Results]Maltodextrin was selected as the excipient,and the best process parameters was the ratio of drug to excipient at 1∶2(g/g),under which the forming rate,solubility,moisture absorption rate,and angle of repose were 81.38%,98.90%,8.81%,and 27.5°,respectively.The critical relative humidity was 72%.[Conclusions]The forming process adopted is reasonable and feasible,and can provide a reference for large-scale production of Yi medicine Tongfeng Granules.Xuelian ZHAO Yisong LI Ling TAN Hongna SU Junzhang QUBIE Wenbing LI Yuan LIU 2021Medicinal Plant2021,12,6:0
14Chemodiversity of soil dissolved organic matter affected by contrasting microplastics from different types of polymers显示文摘Chemodiversity of dissolved organic matter(DOM)is a crucial factor controlling soil nutrient availability,greenhouse gas emissions,and pollutant migration.Microplastics(MPs)are widespread pollutants in terrestrial ecosystems in many regions.However,the effects of MPs on DOM chemodiversity are not sufficiently understood,particularly under different types of polymers.Using UV-Vis spectroscopy,3D fluorescence spectroscopy,and Fourier-transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry,the effects of three prevalent MPs[polyethylene,polystyrene,and polyvinyl chloride(PVC)]on the chemical properties and composition of soil DOM were investigated via a 310-d soil incubation experiment.The results showed that MPs reduced the aromatic and hydrophobic soil DOM components by more than 20%,with PVC MPs having the greatest effect.Furthermore,as MP contents increase,the humification level of soil DOM significantly decreases.MPs increased DOM molecules with no heteroatom by 8.3%-14.0%,but decreased DOM molecules with nitrogen content by 17.0%-47.8%.This may be because MPs cause positive“priming effect,”resulting in the breakdown of bioavailable components in soil DOM.This is also related to MPs changing microbial richness and diversity and enriching microbial communities involved in lignin compositions degradation.In the presence of MPs,soil DOM chemodiversity depended on soil pH,electrical conductivity,dissolved organic carbon,soil organic matter,bacterial Shannon,and fungal Chao index.Specifically,DOM in MP-contaminated soils featured more lipids and less condensed aromatics and proteins/amino sugars,thereby conferring a lower DOM aromaticity and higher lability.Hong Yu Beidou Xi Lingling Shi Wenbing Tan 2023Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2023,17,12:0

16Environmental effects and risk control of antibiotic resistance genes in the organic solid waste aerobic composting system: A review显示文摘Antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)have been diffusely detected in several kinds of organic solid waste,such as livestock manure,sludge,antibiotic fermentation residues,and food waste,thus attracting great attention.Aerobic composting,which is an effective,harmless treatment method for organic solid waste to promote recycling,has been identified to also aid in ARG reduction.However,the effect of composting in removing ARGs from organic solid waste has recently become controversial.Thus,this article summarizes and reviews the research on ARGs in relation to composting in the past 5 years.ARGs in organic solid waste could spread in different environmental media,including soil and the atmosphere,which could widen environmental risks.However,the conventional composting technology had limited effect on ARGs removal from organic solid waste.Improved composting processes,such as hyperthermophilic temperature composting,could effectively remove ARGs,and the HGT of ARGs and the microbial communities are identified as vital influencing factors.Currently,during the composting process,ARGs were mainly affected by three response pathways,(Ⅰ)“Microenvironment-ARGs”;(Ⅱ)“Microenvironment-microorganisms-ARGs”;(Ⅲ)“Microorganisms-horizontal gene transfer-ARGs”,respectively.Response pathway Ⅱ had been studied the most which was believed that microbial community was an important factor affecting ARGs.In response pathway Ⅲ,mainly believed that MGEs played an important role and paid less attention to eARGs.Further research on the role and impact of eARGs in ARGs may be considered in the future.It aims to provide support for further research on environmental risk control of ARGs in organic solid waste.Caihong Huang Zhurui Tang Beidou Xi Wenbing Tan Wei Guo Weixia Wu Caiyun Ma 2021Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2021,15,6:0

18Effects of persulfate-assisted hydrothermal treatment of municipal sludge on aqueous phase characteristics and phytotoxicity显示文摘Hydrothermal technology (HT) has received much attention in recent years as a process to convert wet organic waste into hydrochar.The aqueous phase (HTAP) produced by this process is still a burden and has become a bottleneck issue for HT process development.In this study,we provide the?rst investigation of the HTAP characteristics,phytotoxicity,and their correlation with persulfate (PS)(PS,2.0 mmol/g TS)-assisted municipal sludge HT.The results showed that PS accelerated the hydrolysis of protein substances and increased the concentration of NH_(4)^(+)by 13.4%to 190.5%and that of PO_(4)^(3-)by 24.2%to 1103.7%in HTAP at hydrothermal temperatures of 120 to 240℃.PS can reduce the phytotoxicity of HTAP by reducing aldehydes,ketones,N heterocyclic compounds,and particle size and by increasing its humi?cation index.The maximum values of the root length and biomass of pakchoi(Brassica chinensis L.) seedlings occurred when electrical conductivity was 0.2 mS/cm of HTAP.This work provided a new strategy for the selection and design of HTAP management strategies.Guangchun Shan Weiguang Li Yujie Zhou Shanshan Bao Lin Zhu Wenbing Tan 2023Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,4:0
