1Bile acid nuclear receptor FXR and digestive system diseases显示文摘Bile acids(BAs) are not only digestive surfactants but also important cell signaling molecules,which stimulate several signaling pathways to regulate some important biological processes. The bileacid-activated nuclear receptor, farnesoid X receptor(FXR), plays a pivotal role in regulating bile acid,lipid and glucose homeostasis as well as in regulating the inflammatory responses, barrier function and prevention of bacterial translocation in the intestinal tract. As expected, FXR is involved in the pathophysiology of a wide range of diseases of gastrointestinal tract, including inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer and type 2 diabetes. In this review, we discuss current knowledge of the roles of FXR in physiology of the digestive system and the related diseases. 3Observational study of the circulation in the southern South China Sea显示文摘CTD data from two oceanographic survey cruises, conducted by 'Shiyan No.3' R/V during two reversing monsoons, were employed to calculate and analyze the distributions of temperature, salinity and geopotential anomaly in the southern South China Sea (SSCS). Based on these distributions, the horizontal structures of the SSCS circulation are described systematically. Study results show that the SSCS circulation structure could be classified as a two-layer (the upper and the lower) pattern, and that the main circulation in the upper layer (0-400 m) is driven by the South China Sea monsoons and is opposite in direction to the reversal of the monsoons. The distributions of principal current systems and their features are presented. 4Notoginsenoside Ft1 acts as a TGR5 agonist but FXR antagonist to alleviate high fat diet-induced obesity and insulin resistance in mice显示文摘Obesity and its associated complications are highly related to a current public health crisis around the world.A growing body of evidence has indicated that G-protein coupled bile acid(BA) receptor TGR5(also known as Gpbar-1) is a potential drug target to treat obesity and associated metabolic disorders.We have identified notoginsenoside Ftl(Ftl) from Panax notoginseng as an agonist of TGR5 in vitro.However,the pharmacological effects of Ftl on diet-induced obese(DIO) mice and the underlying mechanisms are still elusive.Here we show that Ftl(100 mg/100 diet) increased adipose lipolysis,promoted fat browning in inguinal adipose tissue and induced glucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1) secretion in the ileum of wild type but not Tgr5^(-/-) obese mice.In addition,Ftl elevated serum free and taurineconjugated bile acids(BAs) by antagonizing Fxr transcriptional activities in the ileum to activate Tgr5 in the adipose tissues.The metabolic benefits of Ftl were abolished in Cyp27 al^(-/-) mice which have much lower BA levels.These results identify Ftl as a single compound with opposite activities on two key BA receptors to alleviate high fat diet-induced obesity and insulin resistance in mice.Lili Ding Qiaoling Yang Eryun Zhang Yangmeng Wang Siming Sun Yingbo Yang Tong Tian Zhengcai Ju Linshan Jiang Xunjiang Wang Zhengtao Wang Wendong Huang Li Yang 2021Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2021,11,6:10

6Preparation of a SiC/Cristobalite-AlPO_4 Multi-layer Protective Coating on Carbon/Carbon Composites and Resultant Oxidation Kinetics and Mechanism显示文摘In order to improve the oxidation resistance of carbon/carbon (C/C) composites,a SiC/C-AlPO4 multi-layer coating was fabricated on the C/C composites by a simple and low-cost method.The internal SiC bonding layer was prepared by a two-step pack cementation process and the external C-AlPO4 coating was deposited by hydrothermal electrophoretic deposition process.Phase compositions and microstructures of the as-prepared multi-layer coating were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD),scaning electron microspocy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS).Anti-oxidation properties,oxidation behavior and the failure behavior of the coated composites were investigated.The results indicate that the multi-layer coating exhibits obviously two-layer structure.The inner layer is composed of β-SiC,α-SiC phase with a scale of silicon phase.The outer layer is composed of cristobalite aluminum phosphate (C-AlPO4) crystallites.The SEM observation shows the good bonding between the inner and outer layers.The multi-layer coating displays an excellent oxidation resistance in air in the temperature range from 1573 to 1773 K,and the corresponding oxidation activation energy of the coated C/C composites is calculated to be 117.2 kJ/mol.The oxidation process is predominantly controlled by the diffusion of O2 through the C-AlPO 4 coating.The failure of the multi-layer coating results from the generation of the microholes that may be left by the escape of the oxidation gases.Jianfeng Huang Wendong Yang Liyun Cao 2010Journal of Materials Science & Technology2010,26,11:7

8Bile acid signaling and bariatric surgery显示文摘The rapid worldwide rise in obesity rates over the past few decades imposes an urgent need to develop effective strategies for treating obesity and associated metabolic complications.Bariatric surgical procedures,such as Roux-en-Y gastric bypass(RYGB)and vertical sleeve gastrectomy(VSG),currently provide the most effective treatment for obesity and type 2 diabetes(T2D),as well as for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH).However,the underlying mechanisms of the beneficial effects of bariatric surgery remain elusive.Recent studies have identified bile acids as potential signaling molecules involved in the beneficial effects of bariatric surgery.This review focuses on the most recent studies on the roles of bile acids and bile acid receptors Farnesoid X receptor(FXR)and G protein-coupled bile acid receptor 5(TGR5)in bariatric surgery.We also discuss the possibility of modulating bile acid signaling as a pharmacological therapeutic approach to treating obesity and its associated metabolic complications.Jingyan Tian Silvia Huang Siming Sun Lili Ding Eryun Zhang Yanjun Liu Wendong Huang 2017Liver Research2017,1,4:2
9Strontium-substituted sub-micron bioactive glasses inhibit ostoclastogenesis through suppression of RANKL-induced signaling pathway显示文摘Strontium-substituted bioactive glass(Sr-BG)has shown superior performance in bone regeneration.Sr-BG-induced osteogenesis has been extensively studied;however,Sr-BG-mediated osteoclastogenesis and the underlying molecular mechanism remain unclear.It is recognized that the balance of osteogenesis and osteoclastogenesis is closely related to bone repair,and the receptor activators of nuclear factor kappaB ligand(RANKL)signaling pathway plays a key role of in the regulation of osteoclastogenesis.Herein,we studied the potential impact and underling mechanism of strontium-substituted sub-micron bioactive glass(Sr-SBG)on RANKL-induced osteoclast activation and differentiation in vitro.As expected,Sr-SBG inhibited RANKL-mediated osteoclastogenesis significantly with the experimental performance of decreased mature osteoclasts formation and downregulation of osteoclastogenesis-related gene expression.Furthermore,it was found that Sr-SBG might suppress osteoclastogenesis by the combined effect of strontium and silicon released through inhibition of RANKL-induced activation of p38 and NF-κB pathway.These results elaborated the effect of Sr-SBG-based materials on osteoclastogenesis through RANKLinduced downstream pathway and might represent a significant guidance for designing better bone repair materials.Deqiu Huang Fujian Zhao Wendong Gao Xiaofeng Chen Zhouyi Guo Wen Zhang 2020Regenerative Biomaterials2020,7,3:2

20Dynamic Model and Motion Characteristics of an Underwater Glider with Manta-inspired Wings显示文摘An underwater glider with bionic wings controlled by two operating modes is proposed to perform a variety of marine exploration tasks.The system composition of the vehicle and the structural design of wings inspired by manta ray are presented.The bionic wings can keep outstretched or realize oscillating motions according to the operating modes of the vehicle.A universal dynamic model of the vehicle was derived from multibody theory.Gliding,sailing and steering motions were simulated based on the dynamic model to illustrate the dynamic behaviors of the vehicle under different types of propulsion techniques.The results obtained through simulated calculation are basically consistent with the experimental data,which indicate that the developed dynamic model is applicable to describe the motion characteristics of the vehicle.Experiments were conducted in coastal area to analyze the propulsive characteristics of the bionic wings and sea trials involving multifarious motions were carried out,the applicability of the vehicle in marine environment was verified.Yaqiang Zhu Yuhong Liu Lianhong Zhang Yanhui Wang Wendong Niu Cheng Huang 2022Journal of Bionic Engineering2022,19,1:1
