2Genetic and biological characteristics of the globally circulating H5N8 avian influenza viruses and the protective efficacy offered by the poultry vaccine currently used in China显示文摘The H5N8 avian influenza viruses have been widely circulating in wild birds and are responsible for the loss of over 33 million domestic poultry in Europe, Russia, Middle East, and Asia since January 2020. To monitor the invasion and spread of the H5N8 virus in China, we performed active surveillance by analyzing 317 wild bird samples and swab samples collected from 41,172 poultry all over the country. We isolated 22 H5N8 viruses from wild birds and 14 H5N8 viruses from waterfowls. Genetic analysis indicated that the 36 viruses formed two different genotypes: one genotype viruses were widely detected from different wild birds and domestic waterfowls;the other genotype was isolated from a whopper swan. We further revealed the origin and spatiotemporal spread of these two distinct H5N8 virus genotypes in 2020 and 2021. Animal studies indicated that the H5N8 isolates are highly pathogenic to chickens, mildly pathogenic in ducks, but have distinct pathotypes in mice. Moreover, we found that vaccinated poultry in China could be completely protected against H5N8 virus challenge. 4Unidirectional and stage-dependent roles of Notch1 in Wnt-responsive Lgr5+ cells during mouse inner ear development显示文摘Wnt and Notch signaling play crucial roles in the determination of the prosensory domain and in the differentiation of hair cells(HCs)and supporting cells during mouse inner ear development;however,the relationship between the two signaling pathways in the mouse cochlea remains largely unknown.Here,we investigated the interactions between Notch and Wnt signaling on the basis of the bidirectional regulation of Notch1 specifically in Wnt-responsive Lgr5+progenitors during different cochlear development stages.We found that the downregulation of Notch1 in Lgr5+cells from embryonic day(E)14.5 to E18.5 can drive the quiescent Lgr5+cells to re-enter the cell cycle and differentiate into extra HCs,whereas the upregulation of Notch1 expression did not affect the proliferation or differentiation of otic progenitor cells.No effect was observed on the upregulation or downregulation of Notch1 in Lgr5+cells from E10.5 to E14.5.We concluded that the roles of Notch1 in Wnt-responsive Lgr5+cells are unidirectional and stage dependent and Notch1 serves as a negative regulator for Lgr5+progenitor activation during cochlear differentiation.Our findings improved the understanding of the interactions between Notch and Wnt signaling in cochlear development.Hui Jiang Shan Zeng Wenli Ni Yan Chen Wenyan Li 2019Frontiers of Medicine2019,13,6:1
5Bilateral olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation promotes neurological function in a rat model of cerebral infarction显示文摘In the present study,olfactory ensheathing cells were transplanted into the cortices of infarcted(infarct transplantation group),normal(normal transplantation group),and bilateral hemispheres(bilateral transplantation group).Olfactory ensheathing cells migrated to the infarct focus.The number of growth associated protein 43-positive cells and nerve fibers was slightly increased in the infarct area.These changes were more evident in the bilateral cortical transplantation group.Results demonstrated that transplanted olfactory ensheathing cells can migrate in rats with cerebral infarction.The olfactory ensheathing cells on the normal side can also promote neurological function.Bilateral cortical transplantation exhibited superior effects over unilateral transplantation.Zhihua Yang Wenli Sheng Huiyong Shen Qinghua Hou Rui Li Jinsheng Zeng Ruxun Huang 2011Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,13:1

19MoNi_(4)-NiO heterojunction encapsulated in lignin-derived carbon for efficient hydrogen evolution reaction显示文摘Molybdenum nickel alloy has been proved to be an efficient noble-metal-free catalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER) in alkaline medium, but its electrocatalytic activity and stability need to be further improved to meet industrial requirements. In this study, carboxymethylated enzymatic hydrolysis lignin(EHL) was used as a biomacromolecule frame to coordinate with transition metal ions and reduced by pyrolysis to obtain the MoNi_(4)-NiO heterojunction(MoNi_(4)-NiO/C). The oblate sphere structure of MoNi_(4)-NiO/C exposed a large catalytic active surface to the electrolyte. As a result, the hydrogen evolution reaction of MoNi_(4)-NiO/C displayed a low overpotentials of 41 mV to achieve 10 mA cm-2and excellent stability of 100 h at 100 mA cm^(-2)in 1 mol L^(-1)KOH, which was superior to that of commercial Pt/C. Lignin assisted the formation of NiO to construct the MoNi_(4)-NiO interface and MoNi_(4)-NiO heterojunction structure, which reduced the energy barrier by forming a more favorable transition states and then promoted the formation of adsorbed hydrogen at the heterojunction interface through water dissociation in alkaline media, leading to the rapid reaction kinetics.
