2Nutritional and medicinal characteristics of Chinese giant salamander (Andrias davidianus) for applications in healthcare industry by artificial cultivation: A review显示文摘Andrias davidianus,i.e.Chinese giant salamander(CGS),is one of the largest and oldest amphibians existing in the world and is also one of the valuable biological resources of China.Wild CGS has been threatened with extinction in the past decades due to over capturing,deterioration of natural environment,the slow breeding and growth of the wild species in nature.However,in the past twenty years,with the breakthrough and progress of artificial breeding technology by artificial insemination,the number of artificially cultivated CGS has increased rapidly.Artificially cultivated CGS can either be released to the CGS living environment to increase the population in nature or legally applied in food and medicinal industry as a feedstock due to the unique nutritional and medicinal values of CGS as recorded historically.In this review,the nutritional components,bioactive components and medicinal activities of the artificially cultivated CGS will be summarized.The mucus,skin,meat and bone of CGS contain many different bioactive substances thereby having various medicinal activities including anti-aging,anti-fatigue,anti-tumor,therapy of burn and anti-infection and other physiological functions.This paper will further discuss the potential applications of the artificially cultivated CGS in healthcare industry and prospects of future technological development.Dong He Wenming Zhu Wen Zenga Jun Lin Yang Ji Yi Wang Chong Zhang Yuan Lu Daoquan Zhao Nan Su Xin-Hui Xing 2018Food Science and Human Wellness2018,7,1:28
3Transcriptional Regulation of miR528 by OsSPL9 Orchestrates Antiviral Response in Rice显示文摘Many microRNAs (miRNAs) are critical regulators of plant antiviral defense.However,little is known about how these miRNAs respond to virus invasion at the transcriptional level.We previously show that defense against Rice stripe virus (RSV) invasion entailed a reduction of miR528 accumulation in rice,alleviating miR528-mediated degradation of L-Ascorbate Oxidase (AO) mRNA and bolstering the antiviral activity of AO.Here we show that the miR528-A0 defense module is regulated by the transcription factor SPL9.SPL9 displayed high-affinity binding to specific motifs within the promoter region of miR528 and activated the expression of miR528 gene in vivo.Loss-of-function mutations in SPL9 caused a significant reduction in miR528 accumulation but a substantial increase of AO mRNA,resulting in enhanced plant resistance to RSV.Conversely,transgenic overexpression of SPL9 stimulated the expression of miR528 gene,hence lowering the level of AO mRNA and compromising rice defense against RSV.Importantly,gain in RSV susceptibility did not occur when SPL9 was overexpressed in mir528 loss-of-function mutants,or in transgenic rice expressing a miR528-resistant AO.Taken together,the finding of SPL9-mediated transcriptional activation of miR528 expression adds a new regulatory layer to the miR528-A0 antiviral defense pathway.Shengze Yao Zhirui Yang Rongxin Yang Yu Huang Ge Guo Xiangyue Kong Ying Lan Tong Zhou He Wang Wenming Wang Xiaofeng Cao Jianguo Wu Yi Li 2019Molecular Plant2019,12,8:10
4Characteristics of fecal microbiota in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease patients显示文摘This study was designed to investigate the gut microbiota of patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. The inclusive and exclusive criteria for NAFLD patients and healthy subjects were formulated, and detailed clinical data were collected. The genomic DNA of stool samples were extracted for 16 S r DNA sequencing, and the amplified V4-region was sequenced on the Illumina Miseq platform. Metastats analysis was performed to identify the differential taxa between the groups. Redundancy analysis was used to evaluate the association between gut microbial structure and clinical variables. Thirty NAFLD patients and37 healthy controls were involved. The 16 S r DNA sequencing showed that there was a dramatic variability of the fecal microbiota among all the individuals. Metastats analysis identified eight families and 12 genera with significant differences between the two groups. When some clinical parameters, such as waist-to-hip ratio(WHR) and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR), were enrolled in Redundancy analysis, the distribution of the two group of samples was obviously changed. The compositional shifts in fecal bacterial communities of NAFLD patients from the healthy controls were mainly at family or genus levels. 6Expression of nerve growth factor precursor, mature nerve growth factor and their receptors during cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury显示文摘We investigated nerve growth factor precursor (proNGF) and mature NGF expression in ischemic and non-ischemic cortices after cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. In both ischemic and non-ischemic cortices, proNGF was found to be present in the extracellular space and cytoplasm. In addition, mature NGF was expressed in extracellular space, but with a very low signal. In ischemic cortex only, proNGF was significantly decreased, reaching a minimal level at 1 day. Mature NGF was increased at 4 hours, then reached a minimal level at 3 days. The p75 neurotrophin receptor (p75NTR) was significantly decreased after ischemia, and increased at 3 days after ischemia. These results confirmed that proNGF was the predominant form of NGF during the pathological process of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. 15Carrier dynamics in CsPbI_3 perovskite microcrystals synthesized in solution phase显示文摘All-inorganic cesium lead halide perovskites(CsPbX_3, X = Cl^-,Br^-, I^-) could provide comparable optoelectronic properties as a promising class of materials for photovoltaic cell(PV), photodetector and light-emitting diode(LED) with enhanced thermal and moisture stabilities compared to organicinorganic lead halide species. However, fabrication of CsPbI_3 perovskite via facile solution process has been difficult due to instability of CsPbI_3 in the perovskite cubic phase in ambient air. Herein, we report the synthesis of CsPbI_3 perovskite microcrystals by low-temperature, catalyst-free, solution-phase method. By applying the time-resolve spectroscopic technique, we determine the carrier diffusion coefficient of 0.6–1.2 cm^2/s, the intrinsic carrier lifetimes of 200–1300 ns and diffusion length of 4–10μm in different individual CsPbI_3 perovskite microcrystals. 16Black TiO_(2) nanoprobe-mediated mild phototherapy reduces intracellular lipid levels in atherosclerotic foam cells via cholesterol regulation pathways instead of apoptosis显示文摘Given that apoptosis increases the risk of plaque rupture, strategies that reduce intracellular lipid levels without killing foam cells are warranted for safe and effective treatment of atherosclerosis. In this study, a mild pho-totherapy strategy is carried out to achieve the hypothesis. Foam cell-targeted nanoprobes that allow photo-thermal therapy (PTT) and/or photodynamic therapy (PDT) were prepared by loading hyaluronan and porphine onto black TiO_(2) nanoparticles. The results showed that when temperatures below 45 ◦C, PTT alone and PTT +PDT significantly reduced the intracellular lipid burden without inducing evidently apoptosis or necrosis. In contrast, the use of PDT alone resulted in only a slight reduction in lipid levels and induced massive apoptosis or necrosis. The protective effect against apoptosis or necrosis after mild-temperature PTT and PTT + PDT was correlated with the upregulation of heat shock protein 27. Further, mild-temperature PTT and PTT + PDT attenuated intracellular cholesterol biosynthesis and excess cholesterol uptake via the SREBP2/LDLR pathway, and also triggered ABCA1-mediated cholesterol efflux, ultimately inhibiting lipid accumulation in foam cells. 19The rice miR171b–SCL6-IIs module controls blast resistance,grain yield,and flowering显示文摘Micro RNAs(mi RNAs)act as regulators of plant development and multiple stress responses.Here we demonstrate that the rice mi R171 b-SCL6-IIs module regulates the balance between blast resistance,grain yield,and flowering.mi R171 b-overexpressing rice plants(OX171 b)displayed increased rice blast resistance accompanied with enhanced defense responses and late heading,whereas blocking mi R171 b expression in rice(MIM171)led to greater susceptibility to blast disease,associated with compromised defense responses and early heading.Either overexpressing or silencing of mi R171 b significantly affected plant height and number of filled seeds per panicle(seed-setting rate),resulting in decreased grain yield.mi R171 b targets SCL6-IIa,SCL6-IIb,and SCL6-IIc,whose expression was suppressed in OX171 b but increased in MIM171.Mutants of SCL6-IIa,SCL6-IIb,and SCL6-IIc all displayed phenotypes like that of OX171 b,including markedly increased blast disease resistance,slightly decreased grain yield,and delayed flowering.Amounts of mi R171 b increased gradually in leaves during the vegetative stage but decreased gradually in panicles during the reproductive stage,whereas SCL6-IIs displayed the reverse expression pattern.Together,these results suggest that the expression of mi R171 b was time-and space-dependent during the rice growth period and regulated the balance between rice blast disease resistance,grain yield,and flowering via SCL6-IIs,and that appropriate accumulation of mi R171 b is essential for rice development.Yan Li Ying Tong Xiaorong He Yong Zhu Tingting Li Xiaoyu Lin Wei Mao Zeeshan Ghulam Nabi Gishkori Zhixue Zhao Jiwei Zhang Yanyan Huang Mei Pu Jing Fan Jing Wang Wenming Wang 2022The Crop Journal2022,10,1:1
