| 3 | Quasi-real-time simulation of rotating drum using discrete element method with parallel GPU computing显示文摘Real-time simulation of industrial equipment is a huge challenge nowadays. The high performance and fine-grained parallel computing provided by graphics processing units (GPUs) bring us closer to our goals. In this article, an industrial-scale rotating drum is simulated using simplified discrete element method (DEM) without consideration of the tangential components of contact force and particle rotation. A single GPU is used first to simulate a small model system with about 8000 particles in realtime, and the simulation is then scaled up to industrial scale using more than 200 GPUs in a 1D domain-decomposition parallelization mode. The overall speed is about 1/11 of the real-time. | 4 | Detecting soil salinity with arid fraction integrated index and salinity index in feature space using Landsat TM imagery显示文摘Modeling soil salinity in an arid salt-affected ecosystem is a difficult task when using remote sensing data because of the complicated soil context(vegetation cover,moisture,surface roughness,and organic matter)and the weak spectral features of salinized soil.Therefore,an index such as the salinity index(SI)that only uses soil spectra may not detect soil salinity effectively and quantitatively.The use of vegetation reflectance as an indirect indicator can avoid limitations associated with the direct use of soil reflectance.The normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI),as the most common vegetation index,was found to be responsive to salinity but may not be available for retrieving sparse vegetation due to its sensitivity to background soil in arid areas.Therefore,the arid fraction integrated index(AFII)was created as supported by the spectral mixture analysis(SMA),which is more appropriate for analyzing variations in vegetation cover(particularly halophytes)than NDVI in the study area.Using soil and vegetation separately for detecting salinity perhaps is not feasible.Then,we developed a new and operational model,the soil salinity detecting model(SDM)that combines AFII and SI to quantitatively estimate the salt content in the surface soil.SDMs,including SDM1 and SDM2,were constructed through analyzing the spatial characteristics of soils with different salinization degree by integrating AFII and SI using a scatterplot.The SDMs were then compared to the combined spectral response index(COSRI)from field measurements with respect to the soil salt content.The results indicate that the SDM values are highly correlated with soil salinity,in contrast to the performance of COSRI.Strong exponential relationships were observed between soil salinity and SDMs(R2>0.86,RMSE<6.86)compared to COSRI(R2=0.71,RMSE=16.21).These results suggest that the feature space related to biophysical properties combined with AFII and SI can effectively provide information on soil salinity. | Fei WANG Xi CHEN GePing LUO JianLi DING XianFeng CHEN | 2013 | Journal of Arid Land2013,5,3: | 14 |
| 5 | The Interactions among DWARF10,Auxin and Cytokinin Underlie Lateral Bud Outgrowth in Rice显示文摘Previous studies have shown that DWARF10(D10) is a rice ortholog of MAX4/RMS1/DAD1,encoding a carotenoid cleavage dioxygenase and functioning in strigolactones/strigolactone-derivatives(SL) biosynthesis.Here we use D10-RNA interference(RNAi) transgenic plants similar to d10 mutant in phenotypes to investigate the interactions among D10,auxin and cytokinin in regulating rice shoot branching.Auxin levels in node 1 of both decapitated D10-RNAi and wild type plants decreased significantly,showing that decapitation does reduce endogenous auxin concentration,but decapitation has no clear effects on auxin levels in node 2 of the same plants.This implies that node 1 may be the location where a possible interaction between auxin and D10 gene would be detected.D10 expression in node 1 is inhibited by decapitation,and this inhibition can be restored by exogenous auxin application,indicating that D10 may play an important role in auxin regulation of SL.The decreased expression of most OsPINs in shoot nodes of D10-RNAi plants may cause a reduced auxin transport capacity.Furthermore,effects of auxin treatment of decapitated plants on the expression of cytokinin biosynthetic genes suggest that D10 promotes cytokinin biosynthesis by reducing auxin levels.Besides,in D10-RNAi plants,decreased storage cytokinin levels in the shoot node may partly account for the increased active cytokinin contents,resulting in more tillering phenotypes. | Shuying Zhang Gang Li Jun Fang Weiqi Chen Haipai Jiang Junhuang Zou Xue Liu Xianfeng Zhao Xiaobing Li Chengcai Chu Qi Xie Xiangning Jiang Lihuang Zhu | 2010 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2010,52,7: | 14 |
| 6 | Microstructure of premixed propane/air flame in the transition from laminar to turbulent combustion显示文摘In order to explore the flame structure and propagation behavior of premixed propane/air in the transi-tion from laminar to turbulent combustion, the high speed camera and Schlieren images methods were used to record the photograph of flame propagation process in a semi-vented pipe. Meanwhile, the super-thin thermocouple and ionization current probe methods were applied to detect the temperature distribution and reaction intensity of combustion reaction. The characteristics of propane/air flame propagation and microstructure were analyzed in detail by the experimental results coupled with chemical reaction thermodynamics. In the test, the particular tulip flame behavior and the formation process in the laminar-turbulent transition were disclosed clearly. | 7 | Analysis of genetic architecture and favorable allele usage of agronomic traits in a large collection of Chinese rice accessions显示文摘Genotyping and phenotyping large natural populations provide opportunities for population genomic analysis and genome-wide association studies(GWAS). Several rice populations have been re-sequenced in the past decade;however, many major Chinese rice cultivars were not included in these studies. Here, we report large-scale genomic and phenotypic datasets for a collection mainly comprised of 1,275 rice accessions of widely planted cultivars and parental hybrid rice lines from China. The population was divided into three indica/Xian and three japonica/Geng phylogenetic subgroups that correlate strongly with their geographic or breeding origins. We acquired a total of 146 phenotypic datasets for 29 agronomic traits under multi-environments for different subpopulations. With GWAS, we identified a total of 143 significant association loci, including three newly identified candidate genes or alleles that control heading date or amylose content. Our genotypic analysis of agronomically important genes in the population revealed that many favorable alleles are underused in elite accessions, suggesting they may be used to provide improvements in future breeding efforts. | 9 | Flame propagation characteristics and flame structures of zirconium particle cloud in a small-scale chamber显示文摘Flame propagating through zirconium particle cloud in a small-scale vertical rectangle chamber was investigated experimentally.In the experiments,the zirconium quoted 99% purity was used and the diameter of particles was distributed 1-22 μm.The zirconium dust was dispersed into the chamber by air flow and ignited by an electrode spark.A high-speed video camera was used to record the images of the propagating flame.Micro-thermocouples,schlieren optical system and microscopic lens were used to obtain temperature profiles and flame structure,respectively.Based on the experimental results,flame propagation characteristics and flame structure of zirconium particle cloud were analyzed.The propagation velocity of the flame is quite slow in the initial 14 ms and then accelerates to maximum value.Subsequently,the propagation velocity of the flame almost keeps constant.The combustion zone width of zirconium particle cloud is 5-6 mm.Smaller particles burn mainly at the leading edge of combustion zone in the width of 1.4 mm followed by larger particles burning 1.4-6 mm behind the leading edge of the combustion zone.Gas phase flame is not seen in zirconium particle cloud and the combustion time of single zirconium particle is 1-5 ms,which depends on its original size.The preheated zone is 7-8 mm thickness ahead of the combustion zone and intensive chemical reaction takes place at 490 K.The maximum flame temperature increases at lower concentrations,reaches the maximum value,and then decreases slightly at higher concentrations. | DING YiBin SUN JinHua HE XueChao WANG QiuHong YIN Yi XU Yao Chen XianFeng | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,34: | 8 |

| 12 | Novel constant-cladding tapered-core ytterbium-doped fiber for high-power fiber laser oscillator显示文摘Power scaling based on traditional ytterbium-doped fibers(YDFs)is limited by optical nonlinear effects and transverse mode instability(TMI)in high-power fiber lasers.Here,we propose a novel long tapered fiber with a constant cladding and tapered core(CCTC)along its axis direction.The tapered-core region of the fiber is designed to enhance the stimulated Raman scattering(SRS)threshold and suppress higher-order mode resonance in the laser cavity.The CCTC YDF was fabricated successfully with a modified chemical vapor deposition(MCVD)method combined with solution doping technology,which has a cladding diameter of 400µm and a varying core with a diameter of~24μm at both ends and~31μm in the middle.To test the performance of the CCTC fiber during high-power operation,an all-fiber laser oscillator based on a CCTC YDF was investigated experimentally.As a result,a maximum output power of 3.42 kW was achieved with an optical-to-optical efficiency of 55.2%,although the TMI effect was observed at an output power of~3.12 kW.The measured beam quality(M^(2)factor)was~1.7,and no sign of the Raman component was observed in the spectrum.We believe that CCTC YDF has great potential to simultaneously mitigate the SRS and TMI effects,and further power scaling is promising by optimizing the structure of the YDF. | Yun Ye Xianfeng Lin Xiaoming Xi Chen Shi Baolai Yang Hanwei Zhang Xiaolin Wang Jinyan Li Xiaojun Xu | 2021 | High Power Laser Science and Engineering2021,9,2: | 5 |

| 14 | Optical vortex copier and regenerator in the Fourier domain显示文摘The generation and manipulation of optical vortices are of fundamental importance in a variety of promising applications. Here, we develop a nonlinear optical paradigm to implement self-and cross-convolution of optical vortex arrays, demonstrating the features of a vortex copier and regenerator. We use a phase-only spatial light modulator to prepare the 1064 nm invisible fundamental light to carry special optical vortex arrays and use a potassium titanyl phosphate crystal to perform type Ⅱ second-harmonic generation in the Fourier domain to achieve 532 nm visible structured vortices. Based on pure cross-convolution, we succeed in copying arbitrary-order single vortices as well as their superposition states onto a prearranged array of fundamental Gaussian spots. Also, based on the simultaneous effect of self-and cross-convolutions, we can expand the initial vortex lattices to regenerate more vortices carrying various higher topological charges. | 15 | Facile shape and size-controlled growth of uniform magnetite and hematite nanocrystals with tunable properties显示文摘Monodispersed magnetite Fe3O4 and hematite α-Fe2O3 nanocrystals have been grown in co-solvents of alcohol and water. Either the shape or the size of the nanocrystals could be easily controlled. Both the phases and nanostructures have been characterized by powder X-ray diffraction patterns and electron microscopy. The magnetic and catalytic properties of these products were investigated and compared with each other. The obtained results clearly demonstrate that these iron oxide nanocrystals are soft ferromagnetic at room temperature and α-Fe2O3 has a more effective catalytic property on the thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate than Fe3O4. Based on the experimental data, it is proposed that the magnetic and catalytic properties of these nanocrystals are dependent not only on the size and shape, but also on the surface structure of the nanocrystals. | 17 | Broadband quasi-phase matching in a MgO:PPLN thin film显示文摘Future quantum information networks operated on telecom channels require qubit transfer between different wavelengths while preserving quantum coherence and entanglement. Qubit transfer is a nonlinear optical process,but currently the types of atoms used for quantum information processing and storage are limited by the narrow bandwidth of upconversion available. Here we present the first experimental demonstration of broadband and high-efficiency quasi-phase matching second-harmonic generation(SHG) in a chip-scale periodically poled lithium niobate thin film. We achieve a large bandwidth of up to 2 THz for SHG by satisfying quasi-phase matching and group-velocity matching simultaneously. Furthermore, by changing the film thickness, the central wavelength of the quasi-phase matching SHG bandwidth can be modulated from 2.70 μm to 1.44 μm. | 18 | Dual waveband generator of perfect vector beams显示文摘Recently, the perfect vector(PV) beam has sparked considerable interest because its radius is independent of the topological charge(TC), which has demonstrated special capabilities in optical manipulation, microscopy imaging, and laser micromachining. Previous research about the generation and manipulation of such PV beams only focuses on the linear optical fields. Therefore, the generation of nonlinear PV beams is still lacking. Here, we propose a dual waveband generator to simultaneously generate the PV beams in linear and nonlinear wavebands.In our experiment, PV beams with different polarization states are realized. It is proved that the polarization states of the generated PV beams can be flexibly adjusted by changing the axis direction of a half wave plate. | 19 | Continuum-based slip model and its validity for micro-channel flows显示文摘In this paper, the low Mach number he- lium and nitrogen flows in micro-channels are inves- tigated numerically with variations of inlet to outlet pressure ratios, aspect ratios, out pressures and fluid mediums by using different continuum-based slip models. Theoretical solutions based on perturbation expansions of the Navier-Stokes equations have been developed under different order slip conditions. The validity of slip models has been examined by the corresponding experiments and the DSMC method at different Knudsen numbers. Simulations have shown good predictions of the compressibility, rarefaction and thermal creep effects on micro-channel flows with the present slip models. The higher order slip models relatively decrease the rarefaction effects comparing with a first-order slip model. Both of the Knudsen number and the Reynolds number have been identified as key parameters, which govern the rarefaction effects and thermal creep effects, respec- tively. The present slip models have been also dem- onstrated to be appropriate for micro-channel nitro- gen flows with the Knudsen number less than 0.15, and the higher order slip conditions improve the Na- vier-Stokes predictions in the slip flow regime with Kn<0.08.
