Altered Resting-State Signals in Patients with Acute Stroke In or Under the Thalamus显示文摘Previous studies have suggested that cortical functional reorganization is associated with motor recovery after stroke and that normal afferent sensory information is very important in that process. In this study,we selected patients who had a stroke in or under the thalamus, with potentially impaired afferent sensory information and analyzed the differences between these patients and healthy controls at three levels:brain regions, the functional connectivity between brain areas, and the whole-brain functional network.Compared with healthy controls, regional homogeneities in the left middle temporal gyrus decreased and functional connectivity between the left middle temporal gyrus and the stroke area increased in the patients. However, there was no significant change in the wholebrain functional network.By focusing on stroke located in or under the thalamus, our study contributes to wider inquiries into understanding and treating stroke.Lijun Chen Chuanfu Li Jian Zhai Anqin Wang Qin Song Ying Liu Ru Ma Long Han Yamikani Ndasaukas Xiaoming Li Hai Li Xiaochu Zhang 2016Neuroscience Bulletin2016,32,6:6
Study on Volatile Oil Components and Total Anti-oxidation Capacity and Simulated SOD Activity of Leaves from Michelia chapensis and M. fovelata显示文摘The volatile oils from leaves of Michelia chapensis Dandy and M. foveolata Merr.ex Dandy were isolated by organic solvent extraction and their components were analyzed and quantified by GC/MS. Then, the total anti-oxidation capacity and simulated SOD activity were tested. Forty-four compounds in M. chapensis were identified and the main constituents are aromatic (11.057%), ester (5.041%) and terpenoid compounds (19.772%). Fifty-two compounds in M. foveolata were identified, and their main constituents are aromatic (21.293%), alcohol (17.403%), alkene (6.909%), ester (5.657%) and alkane compounds (5.134%). The results showed that the two oils have strong anti-oxidation capacity and simulated SOD activity. The total anti-oxidation capacities were the highest when the volatile oil from M. foveolata was diluted by 50 times and that from M.chapensis by 100 times. The simulated SOD activity of volatile oil from M. chapensis was higher than that from M. foveolata, and CuZn-SODs in the two oils held 73%-74% of the total SOD. These results will provide scientific foundation for the exploration of the bioactivity of M. chapensis and M. foveolata.HE Kaiyue ZHANG Shuangquan LI Xiaochu FAN Yasu LI Baocun 2006Chinese Forestry Science and Technology2006,5,3:3
Non-invasive Brain Stimulation for the Treatment of Nicotine Addiction:Potential and Challenges显示文摘Tobacco consumption is one of the leading causes of preventable death worldwide. However,it is difficult to give up smoking by relying on the help of traditional treatments only.Recent years have witnessed emerging positive evidence that non-invasive brain stimulation(NIBS),such as transcranial magnetic stimulation and transcranial direct-current stimulation, can reduce smoking-related behaviors.Although their potential has been implied by advances in research, several methodological issues restrict the clinical application of NIBS to treating nicotine dependence. In this review,we critically evaluate related studies and give suggestions for future research and applications to meet these challenges.Li-Zhuang Yang Zhiyu Yang Xiaochu Zhang 2016Neuroscience Bulletin2016,32,6:3

Impulsivity-related right superior frontal gyrus as a biomarker of internet gaming disorder显示文摘Background Internet gaming disorder(IGD)is a mental health issue that affects individuals worldwide. However, the lack of knowledge about the biomarkers associated with the development of IGD has restricted the diagnosis and treatment of this disorder.Aims We aimed to reveal the biomarkers associated with the development of IGD through resting-state brain network analysis and provide clues for the diagnosis and treatment of IGD.Methods Twenty-six patients with IGD,23 excessive internet game users(EIUs)who recurrently played internet games but were not diagnosed with IGD and 29 healthy controls(HCs)performed delay discounting task(DDT)and Iowa gambling task(IGT).Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI)data were also collected. Results Patients with IGD exhibited significantly lower hubness in the right medial orbital part of the superior frontal gyrus(ORBsupmed)than both the EIU and the HC groups.Additionally, the hubness of the right ORBsupmed was found to be positively correlated with the highest excessive internet gaming degree during the past year in the EIU group but not the IGD group;this might be the protective mechanism that prevents EIUs from becoming addicted to internet games. Moreover, the hubness of the right ORBsupmed was found to be related to the treatment outcome of patients with IGD,with higher hubness of this region indicating better recovery when undergoing forced abstinence.Further modelling analysis of the DDT and IGT showed that patients with IGD displayed higher impulsivity during the decision-making process, and impulsivity-related parameters were negatively correlated with the hubness of right ORBsupmed. Conclusions Our findings revealed that the impulsivity-related right ORBsupmed hubness could serve as a potential biomarker of IGD and provide clues for the diagnosis and treatment of IGD.Pengyu Zhang Yu Pan Rujing Zha Hongwen Song Cunfeng Yuan Qian Zhao Yi Piao Jiecheng Ren Yijun Chen Peipeng Liang Ran Tao Zhengde Wei Xiaochu Zhang 2023General Psychiatry2023,36,4:1

Neuroimaging and intervening in memory reconsolidation of human drug addiction显示文摘Reconsolidation refers to memory reprocessing when consolidated memory is being recalled and restored.Importantly,as memory is being recalled,it could further modify past memories.Memory reconsolidation has been identified as a critical role in various types of mental disorders,in particular drug addiction. In this review,we first review earlier studies related to reconsolidation.Secondly,we characterize memory reconsolidation processing in human brain via neuroimaging studies. Then we focus on the role of reconsolidation and reconsolidation-based interventions in drug addiction. Finally,we highlight the potentials of combining reconsolidation-based interventions and neuroimaging techniques as a therapeutic tool in drug addiction.Chuan FAN Yan CHENG Huixing GOU Chang LIU Shengliang DENG Chialun LIU Xianwen CHEN Junjie BU Xiaochu ZHANG 2020Science China(Information Sciences)2020,63,7:0

AAMcon: an adaptively distributed SDN controller in data center networks显示文摘When evaluating the performance of distributed software-defined network(SDN)controller architecture in data center networks, the required number of controllers for a given network topology and their location are major issues of interest. To address these issues, this study proposes the adaptively adjusting and mapping controllers(AAMcon)to design a stateful data plane. We use the complex network community theory to select a key switch to place the controller which is closer to switches it controls in a subnet.A physically distributed but logically centralized controller pool is built based on the network function virtualization(NFV).And then we propose a fast start/overload avoid algorithm to adaptively adjust the number of controllers according to the demand. We performed an analysis for AAMcon to find the optimal distance between the switch and controller. Finally, experiments show the following results.(1)For the number of controllers,AAMcon can greatly follow the demand;for the placement location of controller, controller can respond to the request of switch with the least distance to minimize the delay between the switch and it.(2)For failure tolerance,AAMcon shows good robustness.(3)AAMcon requires less delay to the network with more significant community structure. In fact, there is an inverse relationship between the community modularity and average distance between the switch and controller,i.e.,the average delay decreases when the community modularity increases.(4)AAMcon can achieve the load balance between the controllers.(5)Compared to DCP-GK and k-critical,AAMcon shows good performance.Waixi LIU Yu WANG Jie ZHANG Hongjian LIAO Zhongwei LIANG Xiaochu LIU 2020Frontiers of Computer Science2020,14,1:0
Resting-state electroencephalography theta predicts neurofeedback treatment 4-month follow-up response in nicotine addiction显示文摘Background The high rate of long-term relapse is a major cause of smoking cessation failure.Recently, neurofeedback training has been widely used in the treatment of nicotine addiction;however, approximately 30%of subjects fail to benefit from this intervention. Our previous randomised clinical trial(RCT)examined cognition-guided neurofeedback and demonstrated a significant decrease in daily cigarette consumption at the 4-month follow-up.However,significant individual differences were observed in the 4-month follow-up effects of decreased cigarette consumption. Therefore,it is critical to identify who will benefit from pre-neurofeedback.Aims We examined whether the resting-state electroencephalography(EEG)characteristics from pre-neurofeedback predicted the 4-month follow-up effects and explored the possible mechanisms. Methods This was a double-blind RCT.A total of 60 participants with nicotine dependence were randomly assigned to either the real-feedback or yoked-feedback group. They underwent 6 min closed-eye resting EEG recordings both before and after two neurofeedback sessions.A follow-up assessment was conducted after 4 months. Results The frontal resting-state theta power spectral density(PSD)was significantly altered in the real-feedback group after two neurofeedback visits.Higher theta PSD in the real-feedback group before neurofeedback was the only predictor of decreased cigarette consumption at the 4-month follow-up.Further reliability analysis revealed a significant positive correlation between theta PSD pre-neurofeedback and post-neurofeedback.A leave-one-out cross-validated linear regression of the theta PSD pre-neurofeedback demonstrated a significant correlation between the predicted and observed reductions in cigarette consumption at the 4-month follow-up.Finally,source analysis revealed that the brain mechanisms of the theta PSD predictor were located in the orbital frontal cortex. Conclusions Our study demonstrated changes in the resting-state theta PSD following neurofeedback training. Moreover, the resting-state theta PSD may serve as a prognostic marker of neurofeedback effects.A higher resting-state theta PSD predicts a better long-term response to neurofeedback treatment, which may facilitate the selection of individualised interventions.Qiujian Meng Ying Zhu Ye Yuan Li Yang Jiafang Liu Xiaochu Zhang Junjie Bu 2023General Psychiatry2023,36,4:0
Network prediction of surgical complication clusters:a prospective multicenter cohort study显示文摘Complicated relationships exist in both occurrence and progression of surgical complications, which are difficult to account for using a separate quantitative method such as prediction or grading.Data of 51,030 surgical inpatients were collected from four academic/teaching hospitals in a prospective cohort study in China. The relationship between preoperative factors,22 common complications, and death was analyzed. With input from 54 senior clinicians and following a Bayesian network approach,a complication grading,cluster-visualization,and prediction(GCP)system was designed to model pathways between grades of complication and preoperative risk factor clusters. In the GCP system, there were 11 nodes representing six grades of complication and five preoperative risk factor clusters, and 32 arcs representing a direct association.Several critical targets were pinpointed on the pathway.Malnourished status was a fundamental cause widely associated(7/32 arcs)with other risk factor clusters and complications.American Society of Anesthesiologists(ASA)score≥3 was directly dependent on all other risk factor clusters and influenced all severe complications.Grade III complications(mainly pneumonia)were directly dependent on4/5 risk factor clusters and affected all other grades of complication.Irrespective of grade, complication occurrence was more likely to increase the risk of other grades of complication than risk factor clusters.Xiaochu Yu Peng Wu Zixing Wang Wei Han Yuguang Huang Shijie Xin Qiang Zhang Shengxiu Zhao Hong Sun Guanghua Lei Taiping Zhang Luwen Zhang Yubing Shen Wentao Gu Hongwei Li Jingmei Jiang 2023Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,7:0
