1Mobile Web Augmented Reality in 5G and Beyond:Challenges, Opportunities, and Future Directions显示文摘The popularity of wearable devices and smartphones has fueled the development of Mobile Augmented Reality(MAR),which provides immersive experiences over the real world using techniques,such as computer vision and deep learning.However,the hardware-specific MAR is costly and heavy,and the App-based MAR requires an additional download and installation and it also lacks cross-platform ability.These limitations hamper the pervasive promotion of MAR.This paper argues that mobile Web AR(MWAR)holds the potential to become a practical and pervasive solution that can effectively scale to millions of end-users because MWAR can be developed as a lightweight,cross-platform,and low-cost solution for end-to-end delivery of MAR.The main challenges for making MWAR a reality lie in the low efficiency for dense computing in Web browsers,a large delay for real-time interactions over mobile networks,and the lack of standardization.The good news is that the newly emerging 5G and Beyond 5G(B5G)cellular networks can mitigate these issues to some extent via techniques such as network slicing,device-to-device communication,and mobile edge computing.In this paper,we first give an overview of the challenges and opportunities of MWAR in the 5G era.Then we describe our design and development of a generic service-oriented framework(called MWAR5)to provide a scalable,flexible,and easy to deploy MWAR solution.We evaluate the performance of our MWAR5 system in an actually deployed 5G trial network under the collaborative configurations,which shows encouraging results.Moreover,we also share the experiences and insights from our development and deployment,including some exciting future directions of MWAR over 5G and B5G networks.Xiuquan Qiao Pei Ren Guoshun Nan Ling Liu Schahram Dustdar Junliang Chen 2019China Communications2019,16,9:7
2Multistring analysis of wellhead movement and uncemented casing strength in offshore oil and gas wells显示文摘This paper presents a theoretical method and a finite element method to describe wellhead movement and uncemented casing strength in offshore oil and gas wells. Parameters considered in the theoretical method include operating load during drilling and completion and the temperature field, pressure field and the end effect of pressure during gas production. The finite element method for multistring analysis is developed to simulate random contact between casings. The relevant finite element analysis scheme is also presented according to the actual procedures of drilling, completion and gas production. Finally, field cases are presented and analyzed using the proposed methods. These are four offshore wells in the South China Sea. The calculated wellhead growths during gas production are compared with measured values. The results show that the wellhead subsides during drilling and completion and grows up during gas production. The theoretical and finite element solutions for wellhead growth are in good agreement with measured values and the deviations of calculation are within 10%. The maximum von Mises stress on the uncemented intermediate casing occurs during the running of the oil tube. The maximum von Mises stress on the uncemented production casing, calculated with the theoretical method occurs at removing the blow-out-preventer(BOP) while that calculated with the finite element method occurs at gas production. 4Advances in catalytic conversion of lignocellulose to chemicals and liquid fuels显示文摘In response to the awareness of limited fossil resources and environmental concerns,catalytic conversion of renewable lignocellulose biomass to value-added chemicals and fuels is of great significance and attractive for sustainable chemistry.Division of Biomass Conversion and Bio-Energy attached to Dalian National Laboratory for Clean Energy has devoted themselves to valorization of lignocellulose biomass since launched in 2011.Our research interests focus on breeding of biomass resources(inulin and microalgae),exploration of catalytic and biological technologies,and production of energy chemicals and fuels.Although lignocellulose biomass is renewable and abundant,the way of utilization should be reasonable according to its structural characteristics in view of efficiency and economy.In this review,to celebrate the DICP's 70 th anniversary,we will highlight the major fundamental advances in DICP about the conversion of lignocellulose to value-added chemicals and liquid fuels.Particular attention will be paid to the transformation of cellulose and its derivatives to glycols,acids and nitrogen-containing chemicals,hemicellulose-derived platform molecule furfural to jet fuels and lignin to aromatics using catalytic technologies.Jiping Ma Song Shi Xiuquan Jia Fei Xia Hong Ma Jin Gao Jie Xu 2019Journal of Energy Chemistry2019,28,9:6
5Direct conversion of fructose-based carbohydrates to 5-ethoxymethylfurfural catalyzed by AlCl_3·6H_2O/BF_3·(Et)_2O in ethanol显示文摘Direct conversion of fructose-based carbohydrates to 5-ethoxymethylfurfural (EMF) catalyzed by Lewis acid in ethanol was investigated. It was found that BF3(Et)2O was favorable for 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) etherification to EMF. 6Design and Implementation of an Adaptive Feedback Queue Algorithm over Open Flow Networks显示文摘The concurrent presence of different types of traffic in multimedia applications might aggravate a burden on the underlying data network, which is bound to affect the transmission quality of the specified traffic. Recently, several proposals for fulfilling the quality of service(QoS) guarantees have been presented. However, they can only support coarse-grained QoS with no guarantee of throughput, jitter, delay or loss rate for different applications. To address these more challenging problems, an adaptive scheduling algorithm for Parallel data Processing with Multiple Feedback(PPMF) queues based on software defined networks(SDN) is proposed in this paper, which can guarantee the quality of service of high priority traffic in multimedia applications. PPMF combines the queue bandwidth feedback mechanism to realise the automatic adjustment of the queue bandwidth according to the priority of the packet and network conditions, which can effectively solve the problem of network congestion that has been experienced by some queues for a long time. Experimental results show PPMF significantly outperforms other existing scheduling approaches in achieving 35--80% improvement on average time delay by adjusting the bandwidth adaptively, thus ensuring the transmission quality of the specified traffic and avoiding effectively network congestion.Jiawei Wu Xiuquan Qiao Junliang Chen 2018China Communications2018,15,7:5
7Experimental study on nucleation process of stick-slip instability on homogeneous and non-homogeneous faults显示文摘The nucleation process of stick-slip instability was analyzed based on the experimental measurements of strain and fault slip on homogeneous and non-homogeneous faults. The results show that the nucleation process of stick-slip on the homogeneous fault is of weak slip-weakening behavior under constant loading point velocity. The existence of a short 'weak segment' on the fault makes slip-weakening phenomenon in nucleation process more obvious, while the existence of a long 'weak segment' on the fault makes the nucleation process changed. The nucleation is characterized by accelerating slip in a local region and rapid increase of shear stress along the fault in this case, which is more coincident with the rate and state friction law. 9HIF-1-modified BMSCs improve migration and reduce neuronal apoptosis after stroke in rats显示文摘Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)have been demonstrated ameliorating neurologic deficits after stroke.Hypoxia-inducible factor-1(HIF-1),the key regulator of cellular responses to low oxygen concentration,can activate multiple genes involving in crucial aspects for neurologic recovery.In this study,we present that rat BMSCs overexpression of HIF-1showed higher expression of HIF-1 target genes in HIF-1-BMSCs,including CXCR4,EPO,and VEGF.BMSCs-mHIF-1 also exhibited an enhanced mobility towards the ischemic area within rat brain.Neural cell apoptosis in ischemic brain shown less severe in rats transplanted with HIF-1-BMSCs.Furthermore,the number of cells expressing neural progenitor markers PAX6 and DCX were increased in BMSCs-mHIF-1-transplanted rats.These results suggest that HIF-1 in BMSCs reduces neuronal apoptosis and promotes neurogenesis after stroke in rats.YE ZhiZhong YE WeiBiao DENG YuBin WANG Jue ZHOU GuangQian ZHANG XiuQuan 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,28:3
10The Positive Indian Ocean Dipole–like Response in the Tropical Indian Ocean to Global Warming显示文摘Climate models project a positive Indian Ocean Dipole(p IOD)–like SST response in the tropical Indian Ocean to global warming. By employing the Community Earth System Model and applying an overriding technique to its ocean component(version 2 of the Parallel Ocean Program), this study investigates the similarities and differences of the formation mechanisms for the changes in the tropical Indian Ocean during the p IOD versus global warming. Results show that their formation processes and related seasonality are quite similar; in particular, wind–thermocline–SST feedback is the leading mechanism in producing the anomalous cooling over the eastern tropics in both cases. Some differences are also found, including the fact that the cooling effect of the vertical advection over the eastern tropical Indian Ocean is dominated by the anomalous vertical velocity during the p IOD but by the anomalous upper-ocean stratification under global warming. 15Tropical Atlantic Climate Response to Different Freshwater Input in High Latitudes with an Ocean-Only General Circulation Model显示文摘Tropical Atlantic climate change is relevant to the variation of Atlantic meridional overturning circulation(AMOC) through different physical processes. Previous coupled climate model simulation suggested a dipole-like SST structure cooling over the North Atlantic and warming over the South Tropical Atlantic in response to the slowdown of the AMOC. Using an ocean-only global ocean model here, an attempt was made to separate the total influence of various AMOC change scenarios into an oceanicinduced component and an atmospheric-induced component. In contrast with previous freshwater-hosing experiments with coupled climate models, the ocean-only modeling presented here shows a surface warming in the whole tropical Atlantic region and the oceanic-induced processes may play an important role in the SST change in the equatorial south Atlantic. Our result shows that the warming is partly governed by oceanic process through the mechanism of oceanic gateway change, which operates in the regime where freshwater forcing is strong, exceeding 0.3 Sv. Strong AMOC change is required for the gateway mechanism to work in our model because only when the AMOC is sufficiently weak, the North Brazil Undercurrent can flow equatorward, carrying warm and salty north Atlantic subtropical gyre water into the equatorial zone. This threshold is likely to be model-dependent. 19Acoustics Based Monitoring and Diagnostics for the Progressive Deterioration of Helical Gearboxes显示文摘Gearbox condition monitoring(CM)plays a significant role in ensuring the operational reliability and efficiency of a wide range of critical industrial systems such as wind turbines and helicopters.Accurate and timely diagnosis of gear faults will improve the maintenance of gearboxes operating under sub-optimal conditions,avoid excessive energy consumption and prevent avoidable damages to systems.This study focuses on developing CM for a multi-stage helical gearbox using airborne sound.Based on signal phase alignments,Modulation Signal Bispectrum(MSB)analysis allows random noise and interrupting events in sound signals to be suppressed greatly and obtains nonlinear modulation features in association with gear dynamics.MSB coherence is evaluated for selecting the reliable bi-spectral peaks for indication of gear deterioration.A run-to-failure test of two industrial gearboxes was tested under various loading conditions.Two omnidirectional microphones were fixed near the gearboxes to sense acoustic information during operation.It has been shown that compared against vibration based CM,acoustics can perceive the responses of vibration in a larger areas and contains more comprehensive and stable information related to gear dynamics variation due to wear.Also,the MSB magnitude peaks at the first three harmonic components of gear mesh and rotation components are demonstrated to be sufficient in characterizing the gradual deterioration of gear transmission.Consequently,the combining of MSB peaks with baseline normalization yields more accurate monitoring trends and diagnostics,allowing the gradual deterioration process and gear wear location to be represented more consistently.Kaibo Lu James Xi Gu Hongwei Fan Xiuquan Sun Bing Li Fengshou Gu 2021Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2021,34,4:1
