2Molecular basis of cryptorchidism-induced infertility显示文摘Artificial cryptorchidism or local testicular heat treatment can induce reversible oligospermia or azoospermia in monkeys and rats via germ cell apoptosis. Local warming of monkey testes in water at 43°C for 2 consecutive days (30 min per day) decreased the number of sperm in the semen by up to 80% on d 28, and the effect was completely reversed on d 144. Germ cells rely heavily on Sertoli cells for structural and nutritional support. Specialized junctions that play a pivotal role in spermatogenesis occur at sites of Sertoli-Sertoli and Sertoli-germ cell contact in the seminiferous epithelium. We demonstrated that expression of tight junction (TJ)-associated molecules, such as occludin and zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1), were greatly reduced 24–48 h after heat treatment, while the permeability of the blood-testis barrier (BTB) was simultaneously increased, but recovered 10 d later. These results indicate a reversible disruption of the BTB associated with transient inductions of transforming growth factor (TGF) β2 and β3 expression, p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase and extracellular signal-regulated kinase activation, and concomitant loss of occludin and ZO-1. This suggests that expression of TJ-associated molecules and the BTB was reversibly perturbed by mild testicular hyperthermia, and that the heat-induced induction of TGF-β might be involved in downregulating TJ-associated proteins, leading to cell junction reduction. 3Cable-like carbon nanotubes decorated metal-organic framework derived ultrathin CoSe2/CNTs nanosheets for electrocatalytic overall water splitting显示文摘The high cost and low reserves of noble metals greatly hinder their practical applications in new energy production and conversion.The exploration of cost-effective alternative electrocatalysts with the ability to drive hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is extremely significant to promote overall water splitting.Herein,ultrathin CoSe2/CNTs nanocomposites have been synthesized by a facile two-step method,where the ultrathin Co-MOF(metal organic-framework)decorated with cable-like carbon nanotubes(CNTs)(Co-MOF/CNTs)was initially fabricated,and followed a lowtemperature selenization process.The ultrathin CoSe2 nanosheets as well as the superior conductivity of CNTs synergistically resulted in abundant active sites and enhanced conductivity to boost the electrocatalytic activity.The as-prepared CoSe2/CNTs electrocatalysts exhibited an overpotential of190 mV and 300 mV vs.reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE)at a current density of 10 mA/cm^(2) for the HER and OER in alkaline solution,respectively,and demonstrated superior durability.Furthermore,the as-prepared bifunctional CoSe2/CNTs electrocatalysts can act as cathode and anode in an electrolyzer,showing a cell voltage of 1.75 V at 10 mA/cm^(2) for overall water splitting.Guijuan Wei Kun Du Xixia Zhao Jiayang Wang Wenxiu Yan Chao An Changhua An 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,10:5
4Carbon quantum dot-induced self-assembly of ultrathin Ni(OH)2 nanosheets: A facile method for fabricating three-dimensional porous hierarchical composite micro-nanostructures with excellent supercapacitor performance显示文摘Significant efforts have been directed towards the preparation and applicationof porous hierarchically structured materials owing to their large surface area,rich active sites, and enhanced mass transport and diffusion. In this study, asimple and cost-effective method for the carbon quantum dot (CQD)-inducedassembly of two-dimensional ultrathin Ni(OH)2 nanosheets into a three-dimensional (3D) porous hierarchical structure was developed. The electrostaticforces between the CQDs and cations drove the self-assembly of the 3DCQDs/Ni(OH)2 hierarchical structures. As a new type of structure-directingagent, the CQDs played dual roles in tuning the morphology of the productsand improving the supercapacitor performance. The multilevel CQDs/Ni(OH)2micro-nanostructures had a large specific surface area and rich porosity. 5Molecular-scale integrated multi-functions for organic lightemitting transistors显示文摘Organic light-mitting transistors(OLETs)integrate the functions of light-emitting diodes and field-effect transistors into a unique device,opening a new door for optoelectronics.However,there is still a challenge due to the absence of high quality organic semiconductors for OLETs.Herein,we reported a novel molecule 2,6-di(anthracen-2-yl)naphthalene(2,6-DAN),which exhibited mobility of up to 19 cm2:V'-s'and an absolute fluorescence quantum yield of 37.09%,which are good values for organic semiconductors.Moreover,OLETs based on 2,6-DAN single crystals showed bright yellowish-green emission and well-balanced ambipolar charge transport.The excellent ratio of hole to electron mobilty can reach up to 0.86,which is superior to most single component OL ETs in typical device configurations reported so far.Lei Zheng Jinfeng Li Ke Zhou Xixia Yu Xiaotao Zhang Huanli Dong Wenping Hu 2020Nano Research2020,13,7:4
6Three-dimensional reconstruction of Picea wilsonii Mast. pollen grains using automated electron microscopy显示文摘Three-dimensional electron microscopy(3 D-EM) has attracted considerable attention because of its ability to provide detailed information with respect to developmental analysis. However, large-scale high-resolution 3 D reconstruction of biological samples remains challenging. Herein, we present a 3 D view of a Picea wilsonii Mast. pollen grain with 100 nm axial and38.57 nm lateral resolution using AutoCUTS-SEM(automatic collector of ultrathin sections-scanning electron microscopy). We established a library of 3,127 100 nm thick serial sections of pollen grains for preservation and observation, demonstrating that the protocol can be used to analyze large-volume samples. After obtaining the SEM images, we reconstructed an entire pollen grain comprising 734 serial sections. The images produced by 3D reconstruction clearly revealed the main components of the P.wilsonii pollen grain, i.e., two sacci and pollen corpus, tube cell, generative cell, and two degenerated prothallial cells, and their internal organization. In addition, we performed a quantitative analysis of the different pollen grain cells, including sacci, and found that there were 202 connections within a saccus SEM image. 7One-nanometer-thick platinum-based nanowires with controllable surface structures显示文摘Pt-based ultrathin nanowires (NWs) are considered as one of the most intriguing catalysts for fuel cells.However,the delicate controllability of surface structure of ultrathin NWs to regulate their catalytic performances is still a challenge.Here,two kinds of one-nanometer-thick Pt-based NWs with smooth surfaces (S-NWs) and rough surfaces (R-NWs) are demonstrated,in which the combined use of hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide and oleylamine plays an essential role,as they could form soft-templates to direct the growth of NWs.Due to its high-density of low-coordinated sites on the surface,Pt-based R-NWs exhibit higher oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) activities but lower stabilities than corresponding S-NWs.Notably,Pt0.78Ni0.22 R-NWs possess the highest mass activity (1.07 A-mgpt^-1) and specific activity (1.02 mA·cm^-2) among all Pt-based NWs.After 10,000 sweeping cycles,the mass activity still exhibits 5.7-fold enhancement compared to the corresponding commercial Pt/C.This work presents a new approach to delicately control the surface structure of ultrathin Pt-based NWs as advanced ORR catalysts.Xiaokun Fan Shuiping Luo Xixia Zhao Xiaotong Wu Zhishan Luo Min Tang Wen Chen Xing Song Zewei Quan 2019Nano Research2019,12,7:2
