1A meta-analysis of heavy metals pollution in farmland and urban soils in China over the past 20 years显示文摘A total of 713 research papers about field monitor experiments of heavy metals in farmland and urban soils in China,published from 2000 to 2019,were obtained.A meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the level of China's heavy metal pollution in soils,mainly focusing on eight heavy metals.It was found that the average concentrations of cadmium(Cd),lead(Pb),zinc(Zn),copper(Cu),mercury(Hg),chromium(Cr),nickel(Ni),and arsenic(As)in China were 0.19,30.74,85.86,25.81,0.074,67.37,27.77 and 8.89 mg/kg,respectively.Compared with the background value(0.097 mg/kg),the Cd content showed a twofold(0.19 mg/kg)rise in farmland soils and a threefold(0.29 mg/kg)rise in urban soils.The decreasing order of the mean Igeo was Cd(1.77)>Pb(0.62)>Zn(0.60)>Cu(0.58)>Hg(0.57)>Cr(0.54)>Ni(0.47)>As(0.28).Nearly 33.54%and 44.65%of sites in farmland and urban soils were polluted with Cd.The average concentrations of eight heavy metals were not sensitive change in recent two decades in farmland and urban soils.The average P_n values for urban(2.52)and farmland(2.15)soils showed that heavy metal pollution in urban soils was more serious than that in farmland,and the middle Yangtze River regions,where industrial activity dominates,were the most polluted.The meta-analysis comprehensively evaluated the current pollution situation of soil heavy metal,and provided important basis for soil management and environment prevention in China.Xuehong Yuan Nandong Xue Zhiguang Han 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,3:46
2Cryopreservation of mammalian oocytes and embryos: current problems and future perspectives显示文摘Cryopreservation techniques for mammalian oocytes and embryos have rapidly progressed during the past two decades,emphasizing their importance in various assisted reproductive technologies.Pregnancies and live births resulting from cryopreserved oocytes and embryos of several species including humans have provided proof of principle and led to the adoption of cryopreservation as an integral part of clinical in vitro fertilization.Considerable progress has been achieved in the development and application of the cryopreservation of mammalian oocytes and embryos,including preservation of the reproductive potential of patients who may become infertile,establishment of cryopreserved oocyte banks,and transport of oocytes and embryos internationally.However,the success rates are still far lower than those obtained with fresh oocytes and embryos,and there are still obstacles that need to be overcome.In this review,we address the major obstacles in the development of effective cryopreservation techniques.Such knowledge may help to eliminate these hurdles by revealing which aspects need improvement.Furthermore,this information may encourage further research by cryobiologists and increase the practical use of cryopreservation as a major part of assisted reproductive technologies for both humans and animal species.MOUSSA Mahmoud SHU Juan ZHANG XueHong ZENG FanYi 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,9:18
3The relationship between the thermohaline circulation and climate variability显示文摘The long-term integration with the Global Ocean-Atmosphere-Land System model of the State Key Laboratory of Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics (LASG), Institute of Atmospheric Physics(IAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences has been used in the investigations on the relationship between the thermohaline circulation and climate variability. The results show that the strength of the North Atlantic Thermohaline circulation (THC) is negatively correlated with the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO). Based on this kind of relationship, and also the instrument-measured climate record such as air pressure and sea surface temperature, the activity of the thermohaline circulation during the 20th century has been evaluated. 4Multiple Cropping Intensity in China Derived from Agro-meteorological Observations and MODIS Data显示文摘Double-and triple-cropping in a year have played a very important role in meeting the rising need for food in China.However,the intensified agricultural practices have significantly altered biogeochemical cycles and soil quality.Understanding and mapping cropping intensity in China′s agricultural systems are therefore necessary to better estimate carbon,nitrogen and water fluxes within agro-ecosystems on the national scale.In this study,we investigated the spatial pattern of crop calendar and multiple cropping rotations in China using phenological records from 394 agro-meteorological stations(AMSs)across China.The results from the analysis of in situ field observations were used to develop a new algorithm that identifies the spatial distribution of multiple cropping in China from moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer(MODIS)time series data with a 500 m spatial resolution and an 8-day temporal resolution.According to the MODIS-derived multiple cropping distribution in 2002,the proportion of cropland cultivated with multiple crops reached 34%in China.Double-cropping accounted for approximately 94.6%and triple-cropping for 5.4%.The results demonstrat that MODIS EVI(Enhanced Vegetation Index)time series data have the capability and potential to delineate the dynamics of double-and triple-cropping practices.The resultant multiple cropping map could be used to evaluate the impacts of agricultural intensification on biogeochemical cycles.YAN Huimin XIAO Xiangming HUANG Heqing LIU Jiyuan CHEN Jingqing BAI Xuehong 2014Chinese Geographical Science2014,24,2:11
5Mass transfer model,preparation and applications of zeolite membranes for pervaporation dehydration:A review显示文摘Pervaporation(including vapor permeation) is a kind of new membrane separation technology, possessing the advantages of high efficiency, energy saving and convenient operation. It has promising application in the separation and purification of organic solvents. Dehydration is an important step in the production and recovery of organic solvents. Zeolite membranes have attracted wide attention for pervaporation dehydration due to their high separation performance and good thermal/chemical stability. So far, zeolite membranes have been preliminarily industrialized for dehydration of organic solvents. This paper reviews the recent development of zeolite membranes for pervaporation dehydration, including mass transfer models, preparation and applications of zeolite membranes. 6Modeling tree root diameter and biomass by ground-penetrating radar显示文摘Roots play a key role in ecosystem functioning as they transfer water and nutrients from soil to plants.Traditional methods for measuring roots are labor-intensive and destructive in nature,which limits quantitative and repeatable assessments in longterm research.Ground-penetrating radar(GPR) provides a non-destructive method to measure plant roots.Based on the superiority of GPR with 2 GHz frequency,we developed a new,practical method to estimate root biomass.First,average root matter density was measured by collecting a small number of root samples.Second,under controlled,experimental conditions in a sandy area,a root diameter estimation model base on GPR was developed from which root diameter was estimated.Third,root volume was calculated using the estimated root diameter and assuming the shape of roots to be cylindrical.Finally,root biomass was estimated by averaging root matter density and root volume.Results of this study suggest the following:(1) the density of coarse roots with diameters greater than 0.5 cm is relatively uniform;(2) a new wave shape parameter,ΔT,extracted from profile data of 2 GHz frequency antenna is independent of root depth,thus enabling the construction of a root diameter estimation model with high accuracy;and(3) results of a field experiment demonstrated the GPR-based method to be feasible and effective in estimating biomass of coarse roots.These findings are helpful for improving GPR-based root diameter and biomass estimation models and suggest the potential of GPR data in studying root systems.CUI XiHong CHEN Jin SHEN JinSong CAO Xin CHEN XueHong ZHU XiaoLin 2011Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,5:8
7Global cultivated land mapping at 30 m spatial resolution显示文摘Cultivated land is one of the most important types of land cover in the global mapping of land cover, and its variation influences economic development, food security, and ecological environment protection. Existing products of global cultivated land mapping have a low resolution, and high spatial resolution products are in demand. This study uses global remote sensing image datasets in 2000/2010 with a spatial resolution of 30 m(Landsat TM/ETM+, HJ-1), MODIS 250 m NDVI time-serial data, and many types of reference data. An three-layer extraction method based on pixels, objects, and knowledge(POK) was adopted to ease cultivated land extraction in global-scale 30 m images, i.e., cultivated land classification based on pixel-scale multi-feature optimization, cultivated land automatic identification based on objects, and interactive object processing based on information service and priori knowledge. Global 30 m cultivated land mapping was accomplished for the two reference years(2000 and 2010), and statistical analysis was conducted on the data. Results showed that the total cultivated land area was 1.903 billion ha and 1.960 billion ha, respectively. Accuracy assessments showed that overall accuracy of global cultivated land mapping are higher than 92% for both the two reference years. The global cultivated land products in 2000/2010 developed in this research are superior to their international counterparts in terms of spatial resolution and classification accuracy. 8Evaluation of hollow fiber T-type zeolite membrane modules for ethanol dehydration显示文摘This work presents the design of hollow fiber T-type zeolite membrane modules with different geometric configurations. The module performances were evaluated by pervaporation dehydration of ethanol/water mixtures. Strong concentration polarization was found for the modules with big membrane bundles. The concentration polarization was enhanced at high temperature due to the higher water permeation flux. The increase of feed flow could improve water permeation flux for the membrane modules with small membrane bundle.Computational fluid dynamics was used to visualize the flow field distribution inside of the modules with different configurations. The membrane module with seven bundles exhibited highest separation efficiency due to the uniform distribution of flow rate. The packing density could be 10 times higher than that of the tubular membrane module. 10Single-Crystalline In Ga As Nanowires for Room-Temperature High-Performance Near-Infrared Photodetectors显示文摘In Ga As is an important bandgap-variable ternary semiconductor which has wide applications in electronics and optoelectronics. In this work, single-crystal In Ga As nanowires were synthesized by a chemical vapor deposition method.Photoluminescence measurements indicate the In Ga As nanowires have strong light emission in near-infrared region. For the first time, photodetector based on as-grown In Ga As nanowires was also constructed. It shows good light response over a broad spectral range in infrared region with responsivity of 6.5×10~3 AW^(-1) and external quantum efficiency of 5.04×10~5%. 12Improvement of the Compressive Strength of Carbon Fiber/Epoxy Composites via Microwave Curing显示文摘Microwave processing was used to cure the carbon fiber/epoxy composites and designed for improving the compressive strength of the materials. By controlling the power of microwave heating, vacuum bagged laminates were fabricated under one atmosphere pressure without arcing. The physical and mechanical properties of composites produced through vacuum bagging using microwave and thermal curing were compared and the multistep(2-step or 3-step) microwave curing process for improved compressive properties was established. The results indicated that microwave cured samples had somewhat differentiated molecular structure and showed slightly higher glass transition temperature. The 2-step process was found to be more conducive to the enhancement of the compressive strength than the 3-step process. A 39% cure cycle time reduction and a 22% compressive strength increment were achieved for the composites manufactured with microwave radiation. 13An AIEgens and exonuclease Ⅲ aided quadratic amplification assay for detecting and cellular imaging of telomerase activity显示文摘Monitoring telomerase activity with high sensitive and reliable is of great importance to cancer analysis.In this paper, we report a sensitive and facile method to detect telomerase activity using AIEgens modified probe(TPE-Py-DNA) as a fluorescence reporter and exonuclease Ⅲ(Exo Ⅲ) as a signal amplifier.With the aid of telomerase, repeat units(TTAGGG)n are extended from the end of template substrate oligonucleotides(TS primer) that form duplex DNAs with TPE-Py-DNA. Then, Exo Ⅲ catalyzes the digestion of duplex DNAs, liberating elongation product and releasing hydrophobic TPE-Py. The released hydrophobic TPE-Py aggregate together and produce a telomerase-activity-related fluorescence signal.The liberated product hybridizes with another TPE-Py-DNA probe, starting the second cycle. Finally,we obtain the target-to-signal amplification ratio of 1:N^2. 14The coupling procedure of air-sea freshwater exchange in climate system models显示文摘A coupling procedure of air-sea freshwater exchange in climate system models is reported in this note. The first stage of the procedure is to force OGCM to equilibrium under strong restoring surface condition on salinity, then increase the relaxing coefficient and get another steady state. The second stage is to switch the forcing on salinity from the weak restoring condition to the flux condition, and then finish a long-term spinning-up integration. After finishing these OGCM spinning-up stages, the last stage is to couple the OGCM with an active atmosphere, i.e. AGCM. 15Las-like quorum-sensing system negatively regulates both pyoluteorin and phenazine-1-carboxylic acid production in Pseudomonas sp. M18显示文摘A las-like quorum-sensing system in Pseudomonas sp. M18 was identified, which consisted of lasI and lasR genes encoding LuxI-LuxR type regulator. Several functions of the las system from strain M18 were investigated in this study. The chromosomal inactivation of either lasI or lasR by recombination increased the production of both pyoluteorin (Plt) and phenazine-1-carboxylic acid (PCA) by 4-5 fold and 2-3 fold over that of the wild type strain of M18, respectively. Production of both antibiotics was restored to wild-type levels after in trans complementation with the wild-type lasI or lasR gene. 16Geospatial knowledge-based verification and improvement of GlobeLand30显示文摘Assuring the quality of land-cover data is one of the major challenges for large- area mapping projects. Although the use of geospatial knowledge and ancillary data in improving land-cover classification has been studied since the early 1980 s, mature methods and efficient supporting tools are still lacking. This paper presents a geospatial knowledge-based verification and improvement approach for global land cover(GLC) mapping at 30-m resolution. A set of verification rules is derived from three types of land cover and its change knowledge(natural, cultural and temporal constraints). A group of web-based supporting tools is developed to facilitate the integration of and access to large amounts of ancillary data and to support online data manipulation and analysis as well as collaborative verification workflows. With this approach, two 30-m GLC datasets(Globe Land-2000 and Globe Land-2010) were verified and modified. 17LysR family factor PltR positively regulates Pyoluteorin production in a pathway-specific manner in Pseudomonas sp. M18显示文摘The pltR gene, coding a putative LysR-type regulator, was identified upstream Plt biosynthetic gene cluster in Pseudomonas sp. M18 using bioinformatics technology. The null mutation of pltR resulted in mutant M18TRG (pltR::Gm) by recombination and its Plt (Pyoluteorin) production declined to 30% while PCA (Phenazine-1-carboxylic acid) production remained unchanged as compared with the wild-type M18 grown in King’s Medium B. After complementation, Plt production of mutant M18TRG was restored to the level in wild-type M18. Overexpression of pltR in M18 led to 13-fold enhancement of Plt produc-tion over the wild-type M18 strain. However, PCA production was unchanged under this condition. These data suggested that PltR was a positive regulator on Plt production. Plt itself, however, could not regulate expression of pltR. Expression of the plt-lacZ transcriptional fusion in mutant M18TRG de-clined obviously as compared with the wild-type M18, which further proved that PltR could regulate expression of Plt biosynthetic genes at the transcriptional level. 18Plant Diversity Performance After Natural Restoration in Reclaimed Deyeuxia angustifolia Wetland显示文摘Deyeuxia angustifolia wetlands were widely distributed in the Sanjiang Plain in Northeast China. Due to strong demand for food production, large-area wetlands were reclaimed to farmlands, which threatened regional ecological security greatly. Since the 21 th century, returning farmlands to wetlands was widely adopted for natural restoration in the Sangjiang Plain. As the first reflection of wetland restoration, vegetation succession of restored D. angustifolia wetlands should be fully assessed. In this study, vegetation investigation was carried out in three restored D. angustifolia wetlands with 5, 8 and 12 yr restoration, respectively. Meanwhile, a natural D. angustifolia wetland was selected as reference wetland. Results showed that community composition changed greatly and there was visible community succession. Community dominant species changed from composite to gramineae as restoration time increasing.At first, weeds community appeared in the restored wetlands, especially the xerophytes developed to the pioneer species rapidly. And then, mesophytes and wetland species became the dominant species in the restored wetlands. Finally, wetland species, especially D. angustifolia, occupied the dominant position of restored community. Shannon-wiener index(H) and Simpson index(D) both decreased to close to natural D. angustifolia wetlands. Compared with natural D. angustifolia wetland, species composition and diversity in restored wetlands were more complex and higher. As restoration time increasing, there were not significant differences between community characteristics of restored wetlands and natural wetland. All these suggested that vegetation in reclaimed D. angustifolia wetland could be restored naturally, but its restored period is 10 yr at least. 19Modeling investigation of geometric size effect on pervaporation dehydration through scaled-up hollow fiber NaA zeolite membranes显示文摘A mass transfer model in consideration of multi-layer resistances through Na A zeolite membrane and lumen pressure drop in the permeate side was developed to describe pervaporation dehydration through scaled-up hollow fiber supported NaA zeolite membrane. It was found that the transfer resistance in the lumen of the permeate side is strongly related with geometric size of hollow fiber zeolite membrane, which could not be neglected. The effect of geometric size on pervaporation dehydration could be more significant under higher vacuum pressure in the permeate side. The transfer resistance in the lumen increases with the hollow fiber length but decreases with lumen diameter. The geometric structure could be optimized in terms of the ratio of lumen diameter to membrane length. A critical value of dI/L(R_c) to achieve high permeation flux was empirically correlated with extraction pressure in the permeate side. 20Hepatocellular carcinoma and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma incidence between 2006 and 2015 in China: estimates based on data from 188 population-based cancer registries显示文摘Background:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(ICC)are the most common subtypes of primary liver cancer,but nationwide incidence of both liver cancer subtypes have never been reported in China.We aimed to estimate the most recent incidence of HCC and ICC and temporal trends in China based on the most updated data from high qualified population-based cancer registries(covering 13.1%of the national population),in comparison to those in the United States at the same period.Methods:We used data from 188 Chinese population-based cancer registries covering 180.6 million population of China to estimate the nationwide incidence of HCC and ICC in 2015.And 22 population-based cancer registries’data were used to estimate the trends of HCC and ICC incidence from 2006 to 2015.Multiple imputation by chained equations method was used to impute liver cancer cases with unknown subtype(50.8%).We used data from 18 population-based registries from the Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results program to analyze incidence of HCC and ICC in the United States.Results:In China,an estimated 301,500 and 61,900 newly diagnosed HCC and ICC occurred in 2015.The overall age-standardized rates(ASRs)of HCC incidence decreased by 3.9%per year.For ICC incidence,the overall ASR was relatively stable,but increased in the population of over 65 years old.Subgroup analysis by age showed that the ASR of HCC incidence had the sharpest decline in population who were less than 14 years old and received neonatally hepatitis B virus(HBV)vaccination.In the United States,though the incidence of HCC and ICC were lower than those in China,the overall HCC and ICC incidence increased by 3.3%and 9.2%per year.Conclusions:China still faces with a heavy burden of liver cancer incidence.Our results may further support the beneficial effect of Hepatitis B vaccination on reduction of HCC incidence.Both healthy lifestyle promotion and infection control are needed for future liver cancer control and prevention for China and the United States.Lan An Rongshou Zheng Siwei Zhang Ru Chen Shaoming Wang Kexin Sun Lingeng Lu Xuehong Zhang Hong Zhao Hongmei Zeng Wenqiang Wei Jie He 2023Hepatobiliary Surgery and Nutrition2023,12,1:4
