| 3 | Evaluation of hollow fiber T-type zeolite membrane modules for ethanol dehydration显示文摘This work presents the design of hollow fiber T-type zeolite membrane modules with different geometric configurations. The module performances were evaluated by pervaporation dehydration of ethanol/water mixtures. Strong concentration polarization was found for the modules with big membrane bundles. The concentration polarization was enhanced at high temperature due to the higher water permeation flux. The increase of feed flow could improve water permeation flux for the membrane modules with small membrane bundle.Computational fluid dynamics was used to visualize the flow field distribution inside of the modules with different configurations. The membrane module with seven bundles exhibited highest separation efficiency due to the uniform distribution of flow rate. The packing density could be 10 times higher than that of the tubular membrane module. | 5 | Attribution analysis based on Budyko hypothesis for land evapotranspiration change in the Loess Plateau, China显示文摘Land evapotranspiration(ET) is an important process connecting soil, vegetation and the atmosphere, especially in regions that experience shortage in precipitation.Since 1999, the implementation of a large-scale vegetation restoration project has significantly improved the ecological environment of the Loess Plateau in China.However, the quantitative assessment of the contribution of vegetation restoration projects to long-term ET is still in its infancy.In this study, we investigated changes in land ET and associated driving factors from 1982 to 2014 in the Loess Plateau using Budyko-based partial differential methods.Overall, annual ET slightly increased by 0.28 mm/a and there were no large fluctuations after project implementation.An attribution analysis showed that precipitation was the driving factor of inter-annual variability of land ET throughout the study period;the average impacts of precipitation, potential evapotranspiration, and vegetation restoration on ET change were 61.5%, 11.5% and 26.9%, respectively.These results provide an improved understanding of the relationship between vegetation condition change and climate variation on terrestrial ET in the study area and can support future decision-making regarding water resource availability. | HE Guohua ZHAO Yong WANG Jianhua GAO Xuerui HE Fan LI Haihong ZHAI Jiaqi WANG Qingming ZHU Yongnan | 2019 | Journal of Arid Land2019,11,6: | 5 |

| 9 | Mutual dependency between lncRNA LETN and protein NPM1 in controlling the nucleolar structure and functions sustaining cell proliferation显示文摘Fundamental processes such as ribosomal RNA synthesis and chromatin remodeling take place in the nucleolus,which is hyperactive in fast-proliferating cells.The sophisticated regulatory mechanism underlying the dynamic nucleolar structure and functions is yet to be fully explored.The present study uncovers the mutual functional dependency between a previously uncharacterized human long non-coding RNA,which we renamed LETN,and a key nucleolar protein,NPM1.Specifically,being upregulated in multiple types of cancer,LETN resides in the nucleolus via direct binding with NPM1.LETN plays a critical role in facilitating the formation of NPM1 pentamers,which are essential building blocks of the nucleolar granular component and control the nucleolar functions.Repression of LETN or NPM1 led to similar and profound changes of the nucleolar morphology and arrest of the nucleolar functions,which led to proliferation inhibition of human cancer cells and neural progenitor cells.Interestingly,this inter-dependency between LETN and NPM1 is associated with the evolutionarily new variations of NPM1 and the coincidental emergence of LETN in higher primates.We propose that this human-specific protein–lncRNA axis renders an additional yet critical layer of regulation with high physiological relevance in both cancerous and normal developmental processes that require hyperactive nucleoli. | Xianteng Wang Xiaolin Hu Wanlu Song Hui Xu Zhengtao Xiao Rongyao Huang Qingran Bai Fan Zhang Yongzhen Chen Yu Liu Jianhuo Fang Xin Li Qin Shen Haitao Zhao Xuerui Yang | 2021 | Cell Research2021,31,6: | 3 |

| 13 | IDH1 fine-tunes cap-dependent translation initiation显示文摘The metabolic enzyme isocitrate dehydrogenase 1(IDH1)catalyzes the oxidative decarboxylation of isocitrate to a-ketoglutarate(a-KG).Its mutation often leads to aberrant gene expression in cancer.IDH1 was reported to bind thousands of RNA transcripts in a sequence-dependent manner;yet,the functional significance of this RNA-binding activity remains elusive.Here,we report that IDH1 promotes mRNA translation via direct associations with polysome mRNA and translation machinery.Comprehensive proteomic analysis in embryonic stem cells(ESCs)revealed strikingenrichmentof ribosomal proteins and translation regulators in IDH1-bound protein interactomes.We performed ribosomal profiling and analyzed mRNA transcripts that are associated with actively translating polysomes.Interestingly,knockout of IDH1 in ESCs led to significant downregulation of polysome-bound mRNA in IDH1 targets and subtle upregulation of ribosome densities at the start codon,indicating inefficient translation initiation upon loss of IDH1.Tethering IDH1 to a luciferase mRNA via the MS2-MBP system promotes luciferase translation,independently of the catalytic activity of IDH1.Intriguingly,IDH1 fails to enhance luciferase translation driven by an internal ribosome entry site.Together,these results reveal an unforeseen role of IDH1 in fine-tuning cap-dependent translation via the initiation step. | Lichao Liu JYuyang Lu Fajin Li Xudong Xing Tong Li Xuerui Yang Xiaohua Shen | 2019 | Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2019,11,10: | 2 |
| 14 | Genetic mutations and molecular mechanisms of Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy显示文摘Background:Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy is a hereditary disease and the most frequent cause of corneal transplantation in the worldwide.Its main clinical signs are an accelerated decrease in the number of endothelial cells,thickening of Descemet’s membrane and formation of guttae in the extracellular matrix.The cornea’s ability to maintain stromal dehydration is impaired,causing painful epithelial bullae and loss of vision at the point when the amount of corneal endothelial cells cannot be compensated.At present,apart from corneal transplantation,there is no other effective treatment that prevents blindness.Main text:In this review,we first summarized the mutations of COL8A2,TCF4,TCF8,SLC4A11 and AGBL1 genes in Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy.The molecular mechanisms associated with Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy,such as endoplasmic reticulum stress and unfolded protein response pathway,oxidative stress,mitochondrial dysregulation pathway,apoptosis pathway,mitophagy,epithelial-mesenchymal transition pathway,RNA toxicity and repeat-associated non-ATG translation,and other pathogenesis,were then explored.Finally,we discussed several potential treatments related to the pathogenesis of Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy,which may be the focus of future research.Conclusions:The pathogenesis of Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy is very complicated.Currently,corneal transplantation is an important method in the treatment of Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy.It is necessary to continuously explore the pathogenesis of Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy and establish the scientific foundations for the development of next-generation corneal therapeutics. | Xuerui Liu Tao Zheng Chuchu Zhao Yi Zhang Hanruo Liu Liyuan Wang Ping Liu | 2021 | Eye and Vision2021,8,1: | 2 |

| 16 | Oxygen dependent oxidation of trimethoprim by sulfate radical:Kinetic and mechanistic investigations显示文摘Trimethoprim(TMP)is a typical antibiotic to treat infectious disease,which is among the most commonly detected antibacterial agents in natural waters and municipal wastewaters.In the present study,the impacts of dissolved oxygen(DO)on the oxidation efficiency and pathways of TMP by reaction with sulfate radicals(SO_(4)^(-1))were investigated.Our results revealed that the presence of DO was favourable for TMP degradation.Specifically,TMP would react initially with SO_(4)^(-1)via electron-transfer process to form a carbon-centered radical.In the absence of oxygen,the carbon-centered radical could undergo hydrolysis to produceα-hydroxytrimethoprim(TMPàOH),followed by the further oxidation which generatedα-ketotrimethoprim(TMP=O).However,in the presence of oxygen,the carbon-centered radical would alternatively combine with oxygen,leading to a sequential reaction in which peroxyl radical and a tetroxide were formed,and finally generated TMPàOH and TMP=O simultaneously.The proposed pathways were further confirmed by density functional theory(DFT)calculations.The results obtained in this study would emphasize the significance of DO on the oxidation of organic micropollutants by SO_(4)^(-1). | Xuerui Yang Xi Ding Lei Zhou Yuefei Ji Guangli Xiu | 2021 | Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,10: | 1 |
