| 1 | Deep-learning-based extraction of the animal migration patterns from weather radar images显示文摘Continental coverage and year-round operation of the weather radar networks provide an unprecedented opportunity for studying large-scale airborne migration.The broad and local-scale airborne information collected by these infrastructures can answer many ecological questions.However,extracting and interpreting the biological information from such massive weather radar data remains an intractable problem.Recently,many big-data problems have been solved using the deep learning technology.In this study,the biological information in the weather radar data is identified using the advanced deep learning method.The proposed method consists of two main parts,i.e.,a rendering and casting procedure and an image segmentation procedure based on a convolutional neural network.The biological data are automatically extracted by rendering and mapping,image segmentation,and result masking.By analyzing the typical radar data from single and multiple stations,we partly reveal the intensity and speed of the migration pattern.We present the first feasibility study of the extraction of local and large-scale biological phenomena from the Chinese weather radar network data. | Kai CUI Cheng HU Rui WANG Yi SUI Huafeng MAO Huayu LI | 2020 | Science China(Information Sciences)2020,63,4: | 11 |
| 2 | Comparative analysis between endometrial proteomes of pregnant and non-pregnant ewes during the peri-implantation period显示文摘Background:Early pregnancy failure has a profound impact on both human reproductive health and animal production.2/3 pregnancy failures occur during the peri-implantation period;however,the underlying mechanism(s)remains unclear.Well-organized modification of the endometrium to a receptive state is critical to establish pregnancy.Aberrant endometrial modification during implantation is thought to be largely responsible for early pregnancy loss.Result:In this study,using well-managed recipient ewes that received embryo transfer as model,we compared the endometrial proteome between pregnant and non-pregnant ewes during implantation period.After embryo transfer,recipients were assigned as pregnant or non-pregnant ewes according to the presence or absence of an elongated conceptus at Day 17 of pregnancy.By comparing the endometrial proteomic profiles between pregnant and non-pregnant ewes,we identified 94 and 257 differentially expressed proteins(DEPs) in the endometrial caruncular and intercaruncular areas,respectively.Functional analysis showed that the DEPs were mainly associated with immune response,nutrient transport and utilization,as well as proteasome-mediated proteolysis.Conclusion:These analysis imply that dysfunction of these biological processes or pathways of DEP in the endometrium is highly associated with early pregnancy loss.In addition,many proteins that are essential for the establishment of pregnancy showed dysregulation in the endometrium of non-pregnant ewes.These proteins,as potential candidates,may contribute to early pregnancy loss. | Haichao Zhao Linlin Sui Kai Miao Lei An Dong Wang Zhuocheng Hou Rui Wang Min Guo Zhilong Wang Jiqiang Xu Zhonghong Wu Jianhui Tian | 2015 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2015,6,3: | 8 |

| 4 | Astronomical time scale for the lower Doushantuo Formation of early Ediacaran,South China显示文摘Nearly 90% of the Ediacaran Period(635–541 Ma) of the Neoproterozoic is represented by the Doushantuo Formation(DST Fm) in South China.Its lowest Member I is a 3.7 m-thick cap carbonate deposited at the termination of the Cryogenian Marinoan glaciation.The DST Fm consists of alternating organic-rich black shale and thinly bedded dolostone, and it contains some of the oldest records of multicellular life and three pronounced negative carbon isotope excursions.The Jiulongwan(JLW) section is a well-studied reference section for these Ediacaran events.Spectral analysis of geochemical data through the lower DST Fm(22.3 m) shows 27 predominant ~90 cm sedimentary cycles that correspond to 405-ka long eccentricity cycles.The power spectra of the 405-ka tuned Ca and Fe/Ti series show significant peaks at ~1.2-Ma, 405-ka, 133-ka, 128-ka, 100-ka, 82-ka, ~31-ka and 29-ka periods, respectively.A 11.16 Malong astronomical time scale has been constructed for the lower DST Fm and provide a duration of 1.6 Ma for the cap carbonate(Member Ⅰ) based on the 405-ka long eccentricity cycle tuning.Using the U-Pb age of 635.2 ± 0.6 Ma for the volcanic ash bed at the Member Ⅰ/Ⅱboundary, we proposed a 636.8 Ma age for the base of the DST Fm.These ages and astronomical timescale provide important new constraints on the subdivision of Ediacaran strata, and have implications for understanding the character of the first negative δ^(13)C excursion(EN1).Orbital forcing may have been played an important role for the climate changes and the evolution of Ediacaran multi-cellular life and the carbon cycle variations. | Yu Sui Chunju Huang Rui Zhang Zhixiang Wang James Ogg David B.Kemp | 2018 | Science Bulletin2018,63,22: | 4 |
| 5 | Differences in atheroma between Caucasian and Asian subjects with anterior stroke:A vessel wall MRI study显示文摘Background and purpose While extracranial carotid artery stenosis is more common among Caucasians and intracranial artery stenosis is more common among Asians,the differences in atherosclerotic plaque characteristics have not yet been extensively examined.We sought to investigate plaque location and characteristics within extracranial carotid and intracranial arteries in symptomatic Caucasians and Chinese using vessel wall MRI.Methods Subjects with recent anterior circulation ischaemic stroke were recruited and imaged at two sites in the USA and China using similar protocols.Both extracranial carotid and intracranial arteries were reviewed to determine plaque location and characteristics.Results The prevalence of extracranial carotid plaque in Caucasians and Chinese was 73.1%and 49.1%,respectively(p=0.055).Prevalence of intracranial plaque was 38.5%and 69.1%in Caucasians and Chinese,respectively(p=0.02).Furthermore,42% of Caucasians and 16%of Chinese had high-risk plaque(HRP)features(intraplaque haemorrhage,luminal surface disruption)in the extracranial carotid artery(p=0.03).The prevalence of HRP features in intracranial arteries was not significantly different between the two cohorts(4%vs 11%;p=0.42).Conclusions Differences in the location and characteristics of cerebrovascular atherosclerosis were identified by vessel wall MRI in US Caucasian and Chinese subjects with recent anterior circulation ischaemic stroke.Extracranial carotid plaques with HRP features were more common in Caucasians.Intracranial plaques were more common in Chinese subjects,but no significant difference between the two cohorts in intracranial HRP prevalence was found.Larger studies using vessel wall imaging to investigate racial differences in cerebrovascular disease may inform underlying mechanisms of HRP development and may ultimately help guide appropriate therapy. | Hiroko Watase Mi Shen Binbin Sui Peiyi Gao Dong Zhang Jie Sun Niranjan Balu Daniel S Hippe Gail P Jarvik Xihai Zhao Rui Li Shuo Chen Chun Yuan Thomas S Hatsukami | 2021 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021,6,1: | 4 |
| 6 | Non-isothermal Crystallization Kinetics of Polyamide 6/Diaminemodified MWNTs Nanocomposite显示文摘The non-isothermal crystallization kinetics of polyamide 6/diamine-modified multi-walled carbon nanotube (PA6/D-MWNT) nanocomposite was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The modified Avrami equation, the Ozawa equation and the combined Avrami/Ozawa equation were employed to analyze the non-isothermal crystallization data. The crystallization activation energies were also evaluated by the Kissinger method. It was found that the combined Avrami/Ozawa equation could successfully describe the non-isothermal crystallization process. The results showed that D-MWNTs not only acted as effective hetero- geneous nucleating agents for PA6 and noticeably increased the crystallization temperature of PA6, but also influenced the mechanism of nucleation and crystal growth of PA6 and then reduced the overall crystallization rate of the neat PA6 matrix. | 7 | Influence of Dust Accumulation on the Solar Reflectivity of a Linear Fresnel Reflector显示文摘Solar reflecting and heat collecting systems are generally operated outdoors year-round,and the optical performance of the reflector is reduced by dust accumulation on the surface.In this study,the dust accumulation on a linear Fresnel reflector was investigated.The relative reflectivity of the mirror before and after dust accumulation and the physical and chemical characteristics of the dust were measured using an ultraviolet spectrophotometer,scanning electron microscope,and X-ray diffractometer.The results showed that the dust density on the mirror increased,and the relative reflectivity decreased with an increase in the dust accumulation time.During 48 days of dust accumulation,the average relative reflectivity decreased 9.4%for a 1 g/m^(2)increase in the dust density.Additionally,the dust density on the mirror increased while the relative reflectivity decreased with a decrease in the mirror tilt angle.The rate of decrease of the relative reflectivity was higher for the aluminum mirror than that of the silver mirror after dust accumulation.The main component of the dust particles in the test area was SiO_(2),and the particle size range of the dust was 0.9 um to 87µm.According to the physical and chemical properties of the dust and the shielding effect of the dust on the mirror,a model to predict the influence of natural dust accumulation on the relative reflectivity of the linear Fresnel reflector was proposed.The predicted results deviated about 1%from the test results. | ZHAO Xiaoyan CHEN Zhuang YAN Suying MING Tingzhen WU Ze MA Rui | 2021 | Journal of Thermal Science2021,30,5: | 3 |

| 12 | Synoptic-scale disturbances over the northern South China Sea and their responses to El Nio显示文摘Using surface and aerological meteorological observations obtained at the Xisha Automatic Weather Station and three moored buoys along the continental slope, characteristics of the synoptic-scale disturbances over the northern South China Sea (NSCS) are extensively studied. The power spectra of surface and aerological observations suggest a synoptic feature with a pronounced energy peak at a period of 5-8 d and a weak peak at 3-4 d. The standard deviation of the synoptic temperature component derived at Xisha Station from 1976 to 2011 indicates that the strongest variability normally exists in August all through the whole troposphere. At the interannual scale, it is found that El Nin o plays an important role in regulating the synoptic disturbances of atmosphere. The vertical synoptic disturbances have a double active peak following El Nin o condition. The first peak usually occurs during the mature phase of El Nin o, and the second one occurs in the summer of decay year. Chitosan were hydrolyzed using chitosanase at p H 6–7 and 37 for 24℃ h to obtain LMWC. In vitro, the effect of LMWC on the proliferation of renal tubular epithelial cells(RTEC) showed that it had no cytotoxic effect and could promote cell growth. For the in vivo experiment, chronic renal failure rats induced by adenine were randomly divided into control group, Niaoduqing group, and high-, medium- and low-dose LMWC groups. For each group, we detected serum creatinine(SCR), blood urea nitrogen(BUN), and total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD), glutathione oxidase(GSH-Px) activities of renal tissue, and obtained the ratio of kidney weight/body weight, pathological changes of kidney. The levels of serum SCR, BUN were higher in the adenine-induced rats than those in the control group, indicating that the rat chronic renal failure model worked successfully. The results after treatment showed that LMWC could reduce the SCR and BUN levels and enhance the activities/levels of T-SOD and GSH-PX in kidney compared to control group.
