2Changes of main secondary metabolites in leaves of Ginkgo biloba in response to ozone fumigation显示文摘To investigate the effect of elevated O3 on the accumulation of main secondary metabolites in leaves of Ginkgo biloba L.,four-year-old trees were exposed in open-top chambers with ambient air and the air with twice ambient O3 concentration in Shenyang in 2006.Elevated O3 increased the concentrations of terpenes,but decreased the concentrations of phenolics in G.biloba leaves.The results showed that secondary compounds from G.biloba leaves responded to the elevated O3 exposure in a different way when compared to previous studies which showed elevated O3 increased the concentrations of phenolics but had no effect on the terpenes in leaves of other deciduous trees.Furthermore,reduced synthesis of phenolics may decrease the resistance of G.biloba to O3 and other environmental factors.On the other hand,the induced synthesis of terpenes may enhance the antioxidant abilities in G.biloba leaves at the end of O3 fumigation.HE Xingyuan HUANG Wei CHEN Wei DONG Tian LIU Changbing CHEN Zhenju XU Sheng RUAN Yanan 2009Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,2:8
3Comparison of the protective effects of resveratrol and pterostilbene against intestinal damage and redox imbalance in weanling piglets显示文摘Background: Evidence indicates that early weaning predisposes piglets to intestinal oxidative stress and increases the risk of intestinal dysfunction;however, there are minimal satisfactory treatment strategies for these conditions.This study investigated the potential of resveratrol and its analog, pterostilbene, as antioxidant protectants for regulating intestinal morphology, barrier function, and redox status among weanling piglets.Methods: A total of 144 piglets were selected at 21 days of age and randomly allocated into one of four treatment groups, each of which included six replicates. Piglets in a sow-reared control group were suckling normally between ages 21 and 28 days, while those in weaned groups were fed a basal diet, supplemented with either 300 mg/kg of resveratrol or with 300 mg/kg of pterostilbene. Parameters associated with intestinal injury and redox status were analyzed at the end of the feeding trial.Results: Early weaning disrupted the intestinal function of young piglets, with evidence of increased diamine oxidase activity and D-lactate content in the plasma, shorter villi, an imbalance between cell proliferation and apoptosis, an impaired antioxidant defense system, and severe oxidative damage in the jejunum relative to suckling piglets. Feeding piglets with a resveratrol-supplemented diet partially increased villus height(P = 0.056) and tended to diminish apoptotic cell numbers(P = 0.084) in the jejunum compared with those fed a basal diet. Similarly, these beneficial effects were observed in the pterostilbene-fed piglets. Pterostilbene improved the feed efficiency of weanling piglets between the ages of 21 and 28 days;it also resulted in diminished plasma diamine oxidase activity and D-lactate content relative to untreated weaned piglets(P < 0.05). Notably, pterostilbene restored jejunal antioxidant capacity, an effect that was nearly absent in the resveratrol-fed piglets. Pterostilbene reduced the malondialdehyde and 8-hydroxy-2′-deoxyguanosine contents of jejunal mucosa possibly through its regulatory role in facilitating the nuclear translocation of nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2 and the expression levels of NAD(P)H quinone dehydrogenase 1 and superoxide dismutase 2(P < 0.05).Conclusions: The results indicate that pterostilbene may be more effective than its parent compound in alleviating early weaning-induced intestinal damage and redox imbalance among young piglets.Hao Zhang Yanan Chen Yueping Chen Shuli Ji Peilu Jia Yue Li Tian Wang 2020Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2020,11,4:8
4Characterization of the soybean Gm ALMT family genes and the function of Gm ALMT5 in response to phosphate starvation显示文摘A potential mechanism to enhance utilization of sparingly soluble forms of phosphorus(P) is the root secretion of malate, which is mainly mediated by the ALMT gene family in plants. In this study, a total of 34 Gm ALMT genes were identified in the soybean genome. Expression patterns diverged considerably among Gm ALMTs in response to phosphate(Pi) starvation in leaves, roots and flowers, with expression altered by P availability in 26 of the 34 Gm ALMTs. One root-specific Gm ALMT whose expression was significantly enhanced by Pi-starvation,Gm ALMT_5, was studied in more detail to determine its possible role in soybean P nutrition. Analysis of Gm ALMT_5 tissue expression patterns, subcellular localization, and malate exudation from transgenic soybean hairy rootsoverexpressing Gm ALMT_5, demonstrated that Gm ALMT_5 is a plasma membrane protein that mediates malate efflux from roots. Furthermore, both growth and P content of transgenic Arabidopsis overexpressing Gm ALMT_5 were significantly increased when sparingly soluble Ca-P was used as the external P source. Taken together, these results indicate that members of the soybean Gm ALMT gene family exhibit diverse responses to Pi starvation. 5Analysis of magnetotail flux rope events by ARTEMIS observations显示文摘Three earthward flowing magnetic flux ropes observed in the duskside plasma sheet at geocentric solar magnetospheric coordinate X~–55 Re by P1 and P2 of acceleration,reconnection,turbulence and electrodynamics of moon’s interaction with the sun mission during 13:00–15:00 UT on July 3,2012,were studied.The morphologies of the flux ropes were studied in detail based on Grad-Shfranov reconstruction method and electronic pitch angle distribution data.It is found that(1)the flux rope cross-sectional dimensions are 1.0 Re×0.78 Re,1.3 Re×0.78 Re,and 2.5 Re×1.25 Re,respectively.The magnetic field lines were asymmetric about the center with field line compression on both sides of the current sheet at the leading region;(2)the electron energy flux data presented asymmetry with larger electron flux and lower temperature in the precursor region.The flux ropes were blocked by the resistance of compressed particle density in the front central plasma sheet and the enhanced magnetic field on its sides;and(3)it is found that the flux rope has a layered structure.From inside out,event 1 can be divided into three regions,namely electronic depletion core region,closed field line region,and the caudal area possible with fields connected with the ionosphere.It suggests that the flux ropes cannot merge with the tail magnetic field lines near the lunar orbit.Especially,the flux rope asymmetrical shape reflects the different reconnection processes that caused it on both sides of the magnetic structure.The events shown in this paper support the multiple X-line magnetic reconnection model for flux ropes with in situ observations.TIAN AnMin SHI QuanQi ZONG QiuGang DU Jian FU SuiYan DAI YaNan 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,5:5
6The IL-33/ST2 axis affects tumor growth by regulating mitophagy in macrophages and reprogramming their polarization显示文摘Objective:Macrophages are a major component of the tumor microenvironment.M1 macrophages secrete pro-inflammatory factors that inhibit tumor growth and development,whereas tumor-associated macrophages(TAMs)mainly exhibit an M2 phenotype.Our previous studies have shown that the interleukin-33/ST2(IL-33/ST2)axis is essential for activation of the M1 phenotype.This study investigates the role of the IL-33/ST2 axis in TAMs,its effects on tumor growth,and whether it participates in the mutual conversion between the M1 and M2 phenotypes.Methods:Bone marrow-derived macrophages were extracted from wildtype,ST2 knockout(ST2-/-),and Il33-overexpressing mice and differentiated with IL-4.The mitochondrial and lysosomal number and location,and the expression of related proteins were used to analyze mitophagy.Oxygen consumption rates and glucose and lactate levels were measured to reveal metabolic changes.Results:The IL-33/ST2 axis was demonstrated to play an important role in the metabolic conversion of macrophages from OXPHOS to glycolysis by altering mitophagy levels.The IL-33/ST2 axis promoted enhanced cell oxidative phosphorylation,thereby further increasing M2 polarization gene expression and ultimately promoting tumor growth(P<0.05)(Figure 4).This metabolic shift was not due to mitochondrial damage,because the mitochondrial membrane potential was not significantly altered by IL-4 stimulation or ST2 knockout;however,it might be associated with the m TOR activity.Conclusions:These results clarify the interaction between the IL-33/ST2 pathway and macrophage polarization,and may pave the way to the development of new cancer immunotherapies targeting the IL-33/ST2 axis.Huadan Xu Dong Li Jiaoyan Ma Yuanxin Zhao Long Xu Rui Tian Yanan Liu Liankun Sun Jing Su 2021Cancer Biology & Medicine2021,18,1:5

9Resveratrol and its derivative pterostilbene ameliorate intestine injury in intrauterine growth-retarded weanling piglets by modulating redox status and gut microbiota显示文摘Background:Intestinal disorder is an important factor contributing to growth lag and high rates of morbidity and mortality of piglets with intrauterine growth retardation(IUGR).Resveratrol(RSV)and its derivative pterostilbene(PT)are natural stilbenes possessing various bioactivities,such as antioxidative and anti-inflammatory effects.This study compared the protective potential of RSV and PT on the intestinal redox status and gut microbiota in weanling piglets with IUGR.Methods:Eighteen male piglets of normal body weight(NBW)and 54 same-sex IUGR piglets were chosen according to their birth and weaning weights.The NBW piglets accepted a basal diet,while the IUGR piglets were allotted to one of three groups according to their body weight at weaning and received a basal diet,an RSV-supplemented diet(300 mg/kg),or a PT-supplemented diet(300 mg/kg),respectively.Results:Compared with IUGR piglets,both RSV and PT improved the IUGR-associated decrease in jejunal villus height and increases in plasma diamine oxidase activity and D-lactate level and jejunal apoptosis of piglets(P<0.05).Administering RSV and PT also enhanced jejunal superoxide dismutase activity and the mRNA and protein expression of superoxide dismutase 2 of IUGR piglets by promoting nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2)nuclear translocation(P<0.05).Comparatively,PT was more effective than RSV in elevating the villus height/crypt depth ratio and occludin mRNA and protein levels in the jejunum of IUGR piglets(P<0.05).PT was also superior to RSV in increasing Nrf2 nuclear translocation and inhibiting malondialdehyde accumulation in the jejunum of IUGR piglets(P<0.05).Additionally,RSV modulated the composition of cecal microbiota of IUGR piglets,as evidenced by increasing the prevalence of the phylum Bacteroidetes and the genera Prevotella,Faecalibacterium,and Parabacteroides and inhibiting the growth of the phylum Proteobacteria and its genera Escherichia and Actinobacillus(P<0.05).Moreover,RSV significantly increased the butyrate concentration in the cecum of IUGR piglets(P<0.05).Conclusion:PT is more potent than RSV to prevent intestinal oxidative stress,while RSV has a stronger capacity to regulate gut microbiota compared to PT.Yanan Chen Hao Zhang Yueping Chen Peilu Jia Shuli Ji Yuying Zhang Tian Wang 2021Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2021,12,4:3
10Design and Control of Thermally Coupled Reactive Distillation Sequence for Biodiesel Production显示文摘Decreasing petroleum reserves and growing alternative fuels requirements have promoted the study of biodiesel production. In this work, two thermally coupled reactive distillation designs for biodiesel production were investigated, and the sensitivity analysis was conducted to obtain the appropriate design values. The thermodynamic analysis and economics evaluation were performed to estimate the superiority of the thermally coupled designs over the base case. The proposed biodiesel production processes were simulated using the simulator Aspen Plus, and calculation results show that the exergy loss and economic cost in the two thermally coupled designs can be greatly reduced. It is found that the thermally coupled side-stripper reactive distillation design provides more economic benefits than the side-rectifier one. 13Thermoelectric properties of Ag-doped compound:Mg_(3-x)Ag_(x)Sb_(2)显示文摘Mg_(3)Sb_(2)-based thermoelectric materials have poor electrical conductivity which is the key to limit thermoelectric performance that need to be solved.Herein we tuned the carrier concentration of Mg_(3)Sb_(2)-based materials via Ag doping at the Mg sites(at two distinct crystallographic sites)to enhance the electrical performance.Mg_(3-x)Ag_(x)Sb_(2)(0≤x≤0.05)has been prepared successfully by vacuum suspension smelting plus Spark Plasma Sintering technique.Using the vacuum suspension smelting plus Spark Plasma Sintering method,we proved that Ag doping can precisely tune the electrical transport properties and accordingly enhance the power factor.Moreover,the Ag doping leads to a low lattice thermal conductivity due to phonons scattering,and the maximal thermoelectric figure of merit ZT for Mg_(3-x)Ag_(x)Sb_(2)reaches 0.66 at 773 K.Yanan Fu Xin Zhang Hongliang Liu Jie Tian Jiuxing Zhang 2018Journal of Materiomics2018,4,1:2
14ERF4 affects fruit ripening by acting as a JAZ interactor between ethylene and jasmonic acid hormone signaling pathways显示文摘The regulation of apple(Malus domestica)fruit texture during ripening is complex and a fundamental determinant of its commercial quality.In climacteric fruit,ripening-related processes are regulated by ethylene(ET),and jasmonate(JA)is also involved in the ethylene biosynthesis pathway,mainly through the transcription factor MYC2.However,the molecular genetic mechanism for fruit ripening processes between the JA and ET signaling pathways still needs to be elucidated.In order to explore how JA regulates apple fruit ripening through ERF4,we used’Gala’and’Ralls Janet’fruit at different developmental stages as experimental materials to determine the fruit firmness and related gene expression analysis.Meanwhile,we carried out different hormone treatments on’Gala’fruit at ripening stage.Here,we show that ERF4 is a core JA signaling hub protein JASMONATE ZIM-DOMAIN(JAZ)interactor that affects ethylene signaling pathways.During fruit development,ERF4 represses the expression of ACS1 and ACO1 by interacting with JAZ,as well as with the JA-activated transcription factor MYC2.Ripening is promoted in JAZ-suppressed apples.Thus,ERF4 acts as a molecular link between ethylene and JA hormone signals,and the natural variation of the ERF4Ethylene-responsive binding factor-associated amphiphilic repression(EAR)motif decreases repression of ethylene biosynthesis genes.Yanan Hu Hualin Sun Zhenyun Han Shuai Wang Ting Wang Qiqi Li Ji Tian Yi Wang Xinzhong Zhang Xuefeng Xu Zhenhai Han Ting Wu 2022Horticultural Plant Journal2022,8,6:2

16Novel composite Nafion membranes modified with copper phthalocyanine tetrasulfonic acid tetrasodium salt for fuel cell application显示文摘In this paper,Nafion membrane was firstly modified by copper phthalocyanine tetrasulfonic acid tetrasodium salt(CuTSPc)to prepare the Nafion/CuTSPc-x composite membranes.FTIR,XRD and SEM results revealed the successful incorporation of CuTSPc into Nafion and good compatibility between the two composites.The proton conductivities of the Nafion/CuTSPc-x composite membranes were evidently higher than pure cast Nafion membrane,and increased with CuTSPc contents.Among them,the Nafion/CuTSPc-6%membrane with the highest ion exchange capacity(1.14 mequivg^(-1))exhibited the highest proton conductivity of 0.084 S cm^(-1)at 30℃and 0.131 S cm^(-1)at 80C,respectively.When fabricated of a membrane electrode assembly(MEA),the Nafion/CuTSPc-4.5%membrane displayed an initial fuel cell performance with a power density of 43.3mWcm^(-2)at room temperature,close to that for pure cast Nafion membrane.Benefiting from the compact structure,high proton conductivity and outstanding stability,the Nafion/CuTSPc-x composite membranes show promising potentials for fuel cell applications.Yanan Wei Tianhua Qian Jiawen Liu Xaojing Guo Qiaojuan Gong Zhaorong Liu Binglun Tian Jinli Qiao 2019Journal of Materiomics2019,5,2:2

19An improved least mean square/fourth direct adaptive equalizer for under-water acoustic communications in the Arctic显示文摘An improved least mean square/fourth direct adaptive equalizer(LMS/F-DAE)is proposed in this paper for underwater acoustic communication in the Arctic.It is able to process complex-valued baseband signals and has better equalization performance than LMS.Considering the sparsity feature of equalizer tap coefficients,an adaptive norm(AN)is incorporated into the cost function which is utilized as a sparse regularization.The norm constraint changes adaptively according to the amplitude of each coefficient.For small-scale coefficients,the sparse constraint exists to accelerate the convergence speed.For large-scale coefficients,it disappears to ensure smaller equalization error.The performance of the proposed AN-LMS/F-DAE is verified by the experimental data from the 9th Chinese National Arctic Research Expedition.The results show that compared with the standard LMS/F-DAE,AN-LMS/F-DAE can promote the sparse level of the equalizer and achieve better performance.Yanan Tian Xiao Han Jingwei Yin Hongxia Chen Qingyu Liu 2020Acta Oceanologica Sinica2020,39,9:1
20Tablets of paliperidone using compression-coated technology for controlled ascending release显示文摘The aim of this work was to prepare ascending release compression-coated(CC) tablets with paliperidone(PAL) using a simple manufacturing technique and short manufacturing process.The release behavior and mechanisms in vitro of the final tablets was investigated and evaluated. The PAL CC tablets were comprised of a core layer of high viscosity hydroxypropyl cellulose(HPC-H) and a coating layer of high viscosity hydroxypropyl methylcellulose(HPMCK100 M). Several factors such as materials and core tablet compositions were studied for their influence in the formulation procedure. The drug release mechanism was studied using gravimetric analysis. The data could be fitted to the Peppas model. The ascending drug release results were expressed in terms of the slope of the release curve at different time points.Results showed that the formulation could achieve a good ascending drug release when the weight ratio of PAL was 5:1(core:layer). The fraction of HPC and HPMC was 33 %, and the combination of Eudragit RL-PO was 10%. The ascending release mechanism was due to solvent penetration into the PAL CC tablets, and subsequent drug dissolution from the gelatinous HPC and HPMC matrix erosion. The release mechanism was therefore a combination of diffusion and erosion.
