1Linking atmospheric pollution to cryospheric change in the Third Pole region: current progress and future prospects显示文摘The Tibetan Plateau and its surroundings are known as the Third Pole(TP). This region is noted for its high rates of glacier melt and the associated hydrological shifts that affect water supplies in Asia. Atmospheric pollutants contribute to climatic and cryospheric changes through their effects on solar radiation and the albedos of snow and ice surfaces; moreover, the behavior and fates within the cryosphere and environmental impacts of environmental pollutants are topics of increasing concern. In this review, we introduce a coordinated monitoring and research framework and network to link atmospheric pollution and cryospheric changes(APCC) within the TP region. We then provide an up-to-date summary of progress and achievements related to the APCC research framework, including aspects of atmospheric pollution’s composition and concentration, spatial and temporal variations, trans-boundary transport pathways and mechanisms, and effects on the warming of atmosphere and changing in Indian monsoon, as well as melting of glacier and snow cover. We highlight that exogenous air pollutants can enter into the TP’s environments and cause great impacts on regional climatic and environmental changes. At last, we propose future research priorities and map out an extended program at the global scale. 5Response surface modeling-based source contribution analysis and VOC emission control policy assessment in a typical ozone-polluted urban Shunde,China显示文摘To develop a sound ozone(O_3) pollution control strategy,it is important to well understand and characterize the source contribution due to the complex chemical and physical formation processes of O_3.Using the 'Shunde' city as a pilot summer case study,we apply an innovative response surface modeling(RSM) methodology based on the Community Multi-Scale Air Quality(CMAQ) modeling simulations to identify the O_3 regime and provide dynamic analysis of the precursor contributions to effectively assess the O_3 impacts of volatile organic compound(VOC) control strategy.Our results show that Shunde is a typical VOC-limited urban O_3 polluted city.The 'Jiangmen' city,as the main upper wind area during July 2014,its VOCs and nitrogen oxides(NO_x) emissions make up the largest contribution(9.06%).On the contrary,the contribution from local(Shunde) emission is lowest(6.35%) among the seven neighbor regions.The local VOCs industrial source emission has the largest contribution comparing to other precursor emission sectors in Shunde.The results of dynamic source contribution analysis further show that the local NO_x control could slightly increase the ground O_3 under low(10.00%) and medium(40.00%)reduction ratios,while it could start to turn positive to decrease ground O_3 under the high NO_x abatement ratio(75.00%).The real-time assessment of O_3 impacts from VOCs control strategies in Pearl River Delta(PRD) shows that the joint regional VOCs emission control policy will effectively reduce the ground O_3 concentration in Shunde.Zhiqiang You Yun Zhu Carey Jang Shuxiao Wang Jian Gao Che-Jen Lin Minhui Li Zhenghua Zhu Hao Wei Wenwei Yang 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,1:7
6Evolutionary analysis of allotetraploid hybrids of red crucian carp×common carp,based on ISSR,AFLP molecular markers and cloning of cyclins genes显示文摘The allotetraploid hybrids of red crucian carp × common carp are the first reported artificially cultured polyploid fish with bisexual fertility and stable inheritance in vertebrate. Using ISSR and AFLP markers and the cyclins genes, the genomes and cyclin gene sequence changes were analyzed between the allotetraploid hybrids and their parents. The results indicated that the allotetraploids inherited many genetic characteristics from their parents and the genetic characteristics were stable after 15 generations. However, the allotetraploids had a closer genetic relationship with their original female parents and represented a bias toward the maternal progenitor. DNA fingerprinting analysis showed that the allotetraploids had undergone sequences deletion from their original parents and that the deleted sequences were mostly from the male parent's genome. Some non-parental bands were found in the allotetraploid hybrids. Sequences analysis of the cyclin A1 and B1 genes showed nonsynonymous substitutions of single nucleotides in codons that were different from their original parents, leading to non-parental amino acid loci. 7Demographic Characteristics and Environmental Risk Factors Exposure of Birth Defects in Pregnant Women: A Population-based Study显示文摘Worldwide, the incidence of birth defects in low-income countries is 6.42%, while in middle-income and high-income countries it is 5.57% and 4.72%, respectively;approximately 303, 000 newborns die from birth defects each year. In China, the incidence of birth defects is about 5.6%, and around 8.14 million people have congenital disabilities, accounting for 9.6% of total disabled people[1]. 8Learning Experience: An Alternative Understanding Inspired by Thinking Through Confucius显示文摘Purpose:This article aims to provide an alternative understanding of learning experience in contrast to the dominant constructivist interpretation,and discuss its implication for pedagogy.Design/Approach/Methods:The aim is specifically achieved in the comparison between a review of how experience is understood in constructivism and its philosophical underpinnings and an exploration of how it can be understood alternatively inspired by Confucius’educational thought and premised on his ontology.Drawing on this philosophical discussion,learning experience is reinterpreted.Findings:Beyond rationally translating experience into knowledge or gaining knowledge on the basis of experience,learning leads students to immediately and consistently experience dao in which tian and ren harmoniously unit.This experience renders aesthetics and religiousness in learning and moral transformation in life events.Originality/Value:By illustrating this ontological alternative of learning experience,this article is an attempt to fundamentally decolonize thinking about pedagogy.Yun You 2020ECNU Review of Education2020,3,1:5
9Seroprevalence of Neutralizing Antibodies against Six Human Adenovirus Types Indicates the Low Level of Herd Immunity in Young Children from Guangzhou, China显示文摘Human adenoviruses(HAdVs) commonly cause many diseases such as respiratory diseases, gastroenteritis, cystitis worldwide. HAdV-3,-7,-4 and emergent HAdV-55 and HAdV-14 are the most important types causing severe respiratory diseases. There is no effective drug available for clinical treatment, and no vaccine available for the general population.Therefore, it is important to investigate the seroprevalence against HAdV for developing novel vaccines and vectors. In this study, we investigated the seroprevalence and titer levels of neutralizing antibodies(NAb) against HAdV-3,-4,-7,-14,-55,and-11 in total 278 healthy populations between 0 months and 49 years of age(228 children and 50 adults) from Guangzhou. In children under the age of 18 years, the seropositive rates were significantly increased against HAdV-3 at12.07%, 33.96%, and 64.29% and against HAdV-7 at 0%, 18.87%, and 19.05% in age groups of 1–2, 3–5, and 6–17 years,respectively. The seroprevalence was very low(0% - 8.1%) for all other four types. In adults aged between 18 and49 years, HAdV-3,-4, and-7(> 50.00%) were the most common types, followed by HAdV-14(38.00%),-55(34.00%),and-11(24.00%). Adults tended to have high NAb titers against HAdV-4 and-55. HAdV-55-seropositive donors tended to be HAdV-11-and HAdV-14-seropositive. These results indicated the low level of herd immunity against all six HAdV types in young children, and HAdV-14,-55,-11 in adults from Guangzhou City. 11Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging findings of metastatic rectal linitis plastica from prostate cancer:A case report and review of literature显示文摘Linitis plastica is a rare condition showing circumferentially infiltrating intramural anaplastic carcinoma in a hollow viscus, resulting in a tissue thickening of the involved organ as constricted, inelastic, and rigid. While most secondary rectal linitis plastica(RLP) is caused by metastasis from stomach, breast, gallbladder, or bladder cancer, we report an extremely rare and unique case of secondary RLP due to prostate cancer with computed tomography(CT) and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) findings, including diffusion weighted imaging(DWI). A 78-year-old man presented with approximately a 2-mo history of constipation and without cancer history. On sigmoidoscopy, there was a luminal narrowing and thickening of rectum with mucosa being grossly normal in its appearance. On contrast-enhanced CT,marked contrast enhancement with wall thickening of rectum was noted. On pelvic MRI, rectal wall thickening showed a target sign on both T2-weighted imaging and DWI. A diffuse infiltrative lesion was suspected in the prostate gland based on low signal intensity on T2-weighted imaging and restricted diffusion. A transanal full-thickness excisional biopsy revealed metastasis from a prostate adenocarcinoma invading the submucosa to the muscularis propria consistent with metastatic RLP. 15Sensitivity Analysis of the Effect of Speed and Inclination Angle on Water-Entry Slamming Pressure of the Bow显示文摘In this paper,a method about the water-entry slamming of a two-dimensional(2D)bow structure has been proposed based on the experimental and simulation results.According to this method,the sensitivity analysis has been carried out about the effect of speed and inclination angle on the slamming pressure of the bow.Firstly,a 2D ship bow experimental model was performed to obtain the slamming pressure distribution at different measuring points under different speeds.Then,numerical simulation for the water-entry slamming of this experimental model was conducted to obtain the pressure distribution on the experimental model under different working conditions.Finally,the experimental results were compared with the numerical simulation results to evaluate the effect of speed and inclination angle on the slamming pressure of the bow.The results show that the slamming pressure is more sensitive to speed variation within the low-speed range.The effect of inclination angle on the slamming pressure is more obvious in the small angle condition.When the inclination angle is larger than 45°,the effect is limited.ZHANG Jian YOU Yun YAO Zhi HUO Fa-li 2020China Ocean Engineering2020,34,3:3

17Incidence,Prevalence,and Mortality of Four Major Chronic Non-communicable Diseases—China,1990-2017显示文摘Introduction Chronic and non-communicable diseases(NCDs)have become an important public health concern in China.We aimed to estimate the incidence,prevalence,and mortality of four major NCDs including cardiovascular disease(CVD),cancer,chronic respiratory diseases(CRD),and diabetes in China during 1990-2017.Methods The general analytic framework of Global Burden of Diseases Study 2017(GBD 2017)was applied.Data from Disease Surveillance Point System,censuses,and Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention Cause-of-Death Reporting System were used for mortality estimates.National surveys,cancer registries,and published studies were used for incidence and prevalence estimates.Results In 2017,new cases for CVD,cancer,and diabetes were 13.5,4.6,and 3.3 million,an increase of 120.4%,159.7%,and 57.3%respectively compared with 1990.There were 9.6 million incident cases for CRD in 2017,a 4.9%decrease compared with 1990.A total of 8.1 million people died from cancer,CVD,CRD,and diabetes in China in 2017.There was a substantial decline in age-standardized mortality rate for CRD and a steady but slow decline for CVD and cancer.During 1990-2017,the age-standardized prevalence rate increased by 7.4%,135.2%,and 17.0%for CVD,cancer,and diabetes respectively.Conclusions and Implications for Public Health Practice The accumulated prevalence of the four major NCDs are increasing but the age-standardized mortality rate for CVD,cancer,and CRD has been on a decline during 1990-2017.More effective intervention strategies should be developed to deal with the continuously increasing burden caused by NCDs in China.Peng Yin Jinlei Qi Yunning Liu Jiangmei Liu Jinling You Lijun Wang Maigeng Zhou 2019China CDC weekly2019,1,3:2

20Characteristics of the quasi-16-day wave in the mesosphere and lower thermosphere region as revealed by meteor radar,Aura satellite,and MERRA2 reanalysis data from 2008 to 2017显示文摘This study presents an analysis of the quasi-16-day wave(Q16DW)at three stations in the middle latitudes by using a meteor radar chain in conjunction with Aura Microwave Limb Sounder temperature data and MERRA2(Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis for Research and Applications,Version 2)reanalysis data from 2008 to 2017.The radar chain consists of three meteor radar stations located at Mohe(MH,53.5°N,122.3°E),Beijing(BJ,40.3°N,116.2°E),and Wuhan(WH,30.5°N,114.6°E).The Q16DW wave exhibits similar seasonal variation in the neutral wind and temperature,and the Q16DW amplitude is generally strong during winter and weak around summer.The Q16DW at BJ was found to have secondary enhancement around September in the zonal wind,which is rarely reported at similar latitudes.The latitudinal variations of the Q16DW in the neutral wind and temperature are quite different.The Q16DW at BJ is the most prominent in both neutral wind components among the three stations and the Q16DW amplitudes at MH and WH are comparable,whereas the wave amplitude in temperature decreases with decreasing latitude.The quasi-geostrophic refractive index squared at the three stations in the period from 2008 to 2017 was revealed.The results indicate that the Q16DW in the mesosphere and lower thermosphere(MLT)at MH has a limited contribution from the lower atmosphere.Around March and October,the Q16DW in the troposphere at BJ can propagate upward into the MLT region,whereas at WH,the contribution to the Q16DW in the MLT region is largely from the mesosphere.Yun Gong Zheng Ma Chun Li XieDong Lv ShaoDong Zhang QiHou Zhou ChunMing Huang KaiMing Huang You Yu GuoZhu Li 2020Earth and Planetary Physics2020,4,3:2
