1Detached-eddy Simulation for Time-dependent Turbulent Cavitating Flows显示文摘The Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS),such as the original k-ω two-equation closures,have been very popular in providing good prediction for a wide variety of flows with presently available computational resource.But for cavitating flows,the above equations noticeably over-predict turbulent production and hence effective viscosity.In this paper,the detached eddy simulation(DES) method for time-dependent turbulent cavitating flows is investigated.To assess the state-of-the-art of computational capabilities,different turbulence models including the widely used RANS model and DES model are conducted.Firstly,in order to investigate the grid dependency in computations,different grid sizes are adopted in the computation.Furthermore,the credibility of DES model is supported by the unsteady cavitating flows over a 2D hydrofoil.The results show that the DES model can effectively reduce the eddy viscosities.From the experimental validations regarding the force analysis,frequency and the unsteady cavity visualizations,more favorable agreement with experimental visualizations and measurements are obtained by DES model.DES model is better able to capture unsteady phenomena including cavity length and the resulting hydrodynamic characteristics,reproduces the time-averaged velocity quantitatively around the hydrofoil,and yields more acceptable and unsteady dynamics features.The DES model has shown to be effective in improving the overall predictive capability of unsteady cavitating flows.HUANG Biao WANG Guoyu YU Zhiyi SHI Shuguo 2012Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2012,25,3:10
2Diode-pumped power scalable Kerr-lens mode-locked Yb:CYA laser显示文摘Stable 68 fs pulses with the average power of 1.5 W is directly generated from a multimode diode-pumped Kerr-lens mode-locked Yb:CYA laser by separating the gain medium and Kerr medium. The repetition rate is about 50 MHz, resulting in a single pulse energy of 30 n J and a peak power of 0.44 MW. To the best of our knowledge, this is the highest single pulse energy ever produced from a mode-locked Yb:CYA oscillator. Our experimental results show that Yb:CYA crystal is an excellent candidate for multiwatt, sub-100 fs pulse generation in diode-pumped all-solid-state lasers. 3Multiphase fluid dynamics and transport processes of low capillary number cavitating flows显示文摘To better understand the multiphase fluiddynamics and associated transport processes of cavitatingflows at the capillary number of 0.74 and 0.54,and to validatethe numerical results,a combined computational and exper-imental investigation of flows around a hydrofoil is stud-ied based on flow visualizations and time-resolved interfacemovement.The computational model is based on a mod-ified RNG k-ε model as turbulence closure,along with avapor-liquid mass transfer model for treating the cavitationprocess.Overall,favorable agreement between the numericaland experimental results is observed.It is shown that the cavi-tation structure depends on the interaction of the water-vapormixture and the vapor among the whole cavitation stage,the interface between the vapor and the two-phase mixtureexhibits substantial unsteadiness.And,the adverse motionof the interface relates to pressure and velocity fluctuationsinside the cavity.In particular,the velocity in the vapor regionis lower than that in the two-phase region.Xiangbin Li Guoyu Wang Zhiyi Yu Wei Shyy 2009Acta Mechanica Sinica2009,25,2:6
4Xiaoyaosan improves depressive-like behaviors by regulating the NLRP3 signaling pathway in the rat cerebral cortex显示文摘Objective:To observe changes in the molecular expression of the NLR Family Pyrin Domain Containing Protein 3(NLRP3)pathway in depressed rats after treatment with Xiaoyaosan,and identify the regulatory mechanism of this compound.Methods:Male SpragueeD awley rats were randomly divided into five groups with 12 rats in each group,including the control group,model group,Fluoxetine group,Xiaoyaosan group,and MCC950 group.A depression model was generated by chronic immobilization stress(induced by 3 h of restraint immobilization every day),and the drugs were administered at the same time in each group for 21 days.The effects of Xiaoyaosan on behavioral changes of depressed rats were observed through macroscopic characterization,body mass,open field experiments,and a sucrose preference test.The m RNA and protein expression of the NLRP3 signaling pathway was examined by fluorescence real-time quantitative PCR and Western blot assays.Results:The Xiaoyaosan group,Fluoxetine group,and MCC950 group rats showed improved depressive behavior and an increased weight of sucrose water consumption.The protein and mRNA expression levels of NLRP3,Caspase-1,and IL-1 b were also decreased in the Fluoxetine,Xiaoyaosan,and MCC950 groups.Conclusion:NLRP3,Caspase-1,and IL-1 b protein and mRNA expression levels were increased in the cortex of depressed rats,while Xiaoyaosan protected cortical tissue in these rats by decreasing NLRP3,Caspase-1,and IL-1 b protein and mRNA expression.Cong Chen Rong Yu Zhe Xue Zhiyi Yan Qinlai Bian Yajing Hou Yunzhi Chen Yueyun Liu Jiaxu Chen 2020Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences2020,7,3:5

6Variation Analysis of Seed and Seedling Traits of Cross Combination Progenies in Populus显示文摘Twenty-five species and hybrids in Populus were used as parents, and 26 cross combinations, including more than 5 000 seedlings, were obtained by artificial cross breeding. The length of infructescence, number of seeds per infructescence, thou-sand-seed weight, germination rate of seeds among these cross combinations were tested. The results indicated that the cross combi-national effects were significant for these traits, and demonstrated that the length of infructescence, thousand-seed weight were posi-tively affected by female parent. In addition, seedling height, diameter above ground, diameter at breast height (DBH) of 17 cross combination progenies were investigated. The analysis of mean and standard deviation of these three traits showed that seedling height, diameter above ground, DBH had extensive variation among combinations and individuals within combination. Variance analysis and estimate of heritability indicated that the three traits had wide variation and were controlled by heredity. It was feasible to select superior cross combinations and seedlings. Further more, the result of multiple comparison showed that P. deltoides ‘Lux’ × P. deltoides ‘D324’, P ussuriensis cl. ‘U4’ × P. deltoides ‘T66’, P. ussuriensis cl. ‘U4’ × P deltoides ‘T26’, P. deltoides ‘Lux’ × P.. . ussuriensis cl. ‘U3’, (P. m tos × P. bolleana) × (P alba × P. glandulosa), (P. alba × P. tomentosa) × (P. al × P. glandulosa ), and to en a . ba (P. alba × P. glandulosa ‘No. 2’) × P. tomentosa ‘Lumao 50’ were superior cross combinations with higher growth rate. 7Berberine mitigates hepatic insulin resistance by enhancing mitochondrial architecture via the SIRT1/Opa1 signalling pathway显示文摘The aberrant changes of fussion/fission-related proteins can trigger mitochondrial dynamics imbalance,which cause mitochondrial dysfunctions and result insulin resistance(IR).However,the relationship between the inner mitochondrial membrane fusion protein optic atrophy 1(Opa1)and hepatic IR as well as the specific molecular mechanisms of signal transduction has not been fully elucidated.In this study,we explore whether abnormalities in the Opa1 cause hepatic IR and whether berberine(BBR)can prevent hepatic IR through the SIRT1/Opa1 signalling pathway.High-fat diet(HFD)-fed mice and db/db mice are used as animal models to study hepatic IR in vivo.IR,morphological changes,and mitochondrial injury of the liver are examined to explore the effects of BBR.SIRT1/Opa1 protein expression is determined to confirm whether the signalling pathway is damaged in the model animals and is involved in BBR treatment-mediated mitigation of hepatic IR.A palmitate(PA)-induced hepatocyte IR model is established in HepG2 cells in vitro.Opa1 silencing and SIRT1 overexpression are induced to verify whether Opa1 deficiency causes hepatocyte IR and whether SIRT1 improves this dysfunction.BBR treatment and SIRT1 silencing are employed to confirm that BBR can prevent hepatic IR by activating the SIRT1/Opa1 signalling pathway.Western blot analysis and JC-1 fluorescent staining results show that Opa1 deficiency causes an imbalance in mitochondrial fusion/fission and impairs insulin signalling in HepG2 cells.SIRT1 and BBR overexpression ameliorates PA-induced IR,increases Opa1,and improves mitochondrial function.SIRT1 silencing partly reverses the effects of BBR on HepG2 cells.SIRT1 and Opa1 expressions are downregulated in the animal models.BBR attenuates hepatic IR and enhances SIRT1/Opa1 signalling in db/db mice.In summary,Opa1 silencing-mediated mitochondrial fusion/fission imbalance could lead to hepatocyte IR.BBR may improve hepatic IR by regulating the SIRT1/Opa1 signalling pathway,and thus,it may be used to treat type-2 diabetes.Jia Xu Yining Zhang Zhiyi Yu Yueqi Guan Yuqian Lv Meishuang Zhang Ming Zhang Li Chen Xiaoyan Lv Fengying Guan 2022Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,10:3
8A Comparative Study of the Seismic Performances and Failure Mechanisms of Slopes Using Dynamic Centrifuge Modeling显示文摘In this study, dynamic centrifuge model tests were performed for sand slopes under different earthquake ground motions and slope angle to characterize the seismic performance of slopes. Four groups of tests under varying seismic input amplitude were conducted. Under the action of increasing earthquake intensity, the rigidity of the soil decreases and the damping ratio increases, both of the dynamic response and the predominant period of slopes are increased. Three types of seismic waves with the same seismic intensity were applied in the model tests. It shows that the variability in the ground motion leads to the acceleration response spectra of the slopes being completely different and the Northridge seismic wave with low-frequency component is closest to the predominant period of the slope model. In addition, the effect of slope angle on the seismic performance of slopes were also clarified. The results reveal how the slope angle affects the acceleration recorded on the ground surface of the slope, both in terms of the peak ground-motion acceleration(PGA) amplification factor and the predominant period. Finally, the permanent displacement of the model slopes under different earthquake intensities were further analyzed. 9The influence of Stokes drift on oil spills:Sanchi oil spill case显示文摘Spilled oil floats and travels across the water’s surface under the influence of wind,currents,and wave action.Wave-induced Stokes drift is an important physical process that can affect surface water particles but that is currently absent from oil spill analyses.In this study,two methods are applied to determine the velocity of Stokes drift,the first calculates velocity from the wind-related formula based upon a one-dimensional frequency spectrum,while the second determines velocity directly from the wave model that was based on a twodimensional spectrum.The experimental results of numerous models indicated that:(1)oil simulations that include the influence of Stokes drift are more accurate than that those do not;(2)for medium and long-term simulations longer than two days or more,Stokes drift is a significant factor that should not be ignored,and its magnitude can reach about 2%of the wind speed;(3)the velocity of Stokes drift is related to the wind but is not linear.Therefore,Stokes drift cannot simply be replaced or substituted by simply increasing the wind drift factor,which can cause errors in oil spill projections;(4)the Stokes drift velocity obtained from the two-dimensional wave spectrum makes the oil spill simulation more accurate.Yiqiu Yang Yan Li Juan Li Jingui Liu Zhiyi Gao Kaixuan Guo Han Yu 2021Acta Oceanologica Sinica2021,40,10:3

11THEORY AND EXPERIMENT ON THE VISCOUS HEATING OF FLUID DAMPER UNDER SHOCK ENVIRONMENT显示文摘A specially designed fluid damper used as negative shock pulse generator in the shock resistance test system to dissipate the shock input energy in transient time duration is presented.The theoretical modeling based on the three-dimensional equation of heat transfer through a fluid element is created to predict the viscous heating in the fluid damper under shock conditions.A comprehensive experimental program that investigates the problem of viscous heating in the fluid damper under different shock conditions is conducted on the shock test machine to validate the analytical expression.Temperature histories for the fluid within the damper at two locations,the annular-orifice and the-end-of stroke of the damper,are recorded.The experimental results show that the theoretical modal can offer a very dependable prediction for the temperature histories in the damper for increasing input velocity.The theoretical model and experimental data both clearly indicate that the viscous heating in the damper is directly related to the maximum shock velocity input and the pressure between the two sides of the piston head.CHU Deying ZHANG Zhiyi WANG Gongxian HUA Hongxing WANG Yu 2008Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2008,21,3:2
12Ultra-early treatment of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells for focal cerebral ischemia/ reperfusion injury显示文摘The time point at which bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) can be used in transplantation for the treatment of ischemic brain injury remains unclear. In the present study, BMSCs were transplanted to the ischemic site 90 minutes post-ischemia. The results demonstrated that the transplanted BMSCs improved neurological function, reduced infarct volume, increased survivin expression, decreased caspase-3 expression and reduced apoptosis. 13Pulse-width-induced polarization enhancement of optically pumped N-V electron spin in diamond显示文摘The nitrogen-vacancy(N-V)center in diamond is a widely used platform for quantum information processing and sensing.The electron-spin state of the N-V center could be initialized,read out optically,and manipulated by resonate microwave fields.In this work,we analyze the dependence of electron-spin initialization on widths of laser pulses.We build a numerical model to simulate this process and to verify the simulation results in experiments.Both simulations and experiments reveal that shorter laser pulses are helpful to the electron-spin polarization.We therefore propose to use extremely short laser pulses for electron-spin initialization.In this new scheme,the spin-state contrast could be improved about 10%in experiments by using laser pulses as short as 4 ns in width.Furthermore,we provide a mechanism to explain this effect,which is due to the occupation time in the meta-stable spin-singlet states of the N-V center.Our new scheme is applicable in a broad range of N-V-based applications in the future.YUMENG SONG YU TIAN ZHIYI HU FEIFEI ZHOU TENGTENG XING DAWEI LU BING CHEN YA WANG NANYANG XU JIANGFENG DU 2020Photonics Research2020,8,8:1

17Existing form and effect of zirconium in pure Mg,Mg-Yb,and Mg-Zn-Yb alloys显示文摘The existing form and grain refining effects of small zirconium addition in pure Mg, Mg-Yb and Mg-Zn binary alloys, and Mg-Zn-Yb ternary alloy (ZK60-Yb) were investigated. The results show that Zr element exists mainly in single and cluster particles of pure α-Zr or Zn-Zr compounds inside grains and at grain boundaries. Only the particles located in the interior of grains can act as the nucleus for α-Mg growth and effectively promote the formation of fine equiaxed grains.
