1Role of ethylene signaling in the production of rice volatiles induced by the rice brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens显示文摘Ethylene signaling pathway plays an important role in induced plant direct defense against herbivores and pathogens; however, up to now, only few researches have focused on its role in induced plant indirect defense, i.e. the release of herbi- vore-induced volatiles, and the results are variable. Using a model system consisting of rice plants, the rice brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens and its egg parasitoid Anagrus nilaparvatae, we examined the role of ethylene signaling in the production of rice volatiles induced by N. lugens by measuring both the timing of herbivore-induced ethylene levels and the relationships between ethylene, rice volatiles and attraction of the parasitoid. N. lugens infestation sig- nificantly enhanced the release of ethylene during 2―24 h after infestation. Plants treated with eth- ephon, a compound that breaks down to release ethylene at cytoplasmic pH, released volatiles profiles similar to those released by N. lugens-infested plants, and both of them showed an equal attraction of the parasitoid. Moreover, pretreatment with 1-MCP, an inhibitor of ethylene perception, reduced the release of most of rice volatiles whose amount was enhanced by N. lugens infestation and decreased the attrac- tiveness to the parasitoid. 3Early inoculation with caecal fermentation broth alters small intestine morphology,gene expression of tight junction proteins in the ileum,and the caecal metabolomic profiling of broilers显示文摘Background:The establishment of stable microbiota in early life is beneficial to the individual.Changes in the intestinal environment during early life play a crucial role in modulating the gut microbiota.Therefore,early intervention to change the intestinal environment can be regarded as a new regulation strategy for the growth and health of poultry.However,the effects of intestinal environmental changes on host physiology and metabolism are rarely reported.This study was conducted to investigate the effects of early inoculation with caecal fermentation broth on small intestine morphology,gene expression of tight junction proteins in the ileum,and cecum microbial metabolism of broilers.Results:Our data showed that early inoculation with caecal fermentation broth could improve intestine morphology.The small intestine villus height was significantly increased(P<0.05)in the intervened broilers compared to the control group,especially on day 28.A similar result was observed in the ratio of villus height to crypt depth(P<0.05).Meanwhile,we found early inoculation significantly increased(P<0.05)the expression levels of zonula occludens-1(ZO1)on days 14 and 28,claudin-1(CLDN1)on day 28,whereas the gene expression of claudin-2(CLDN2)was significantly decreased(P<0.05)on days 14 and 28.Gas chromatography time-of-flight/mass spectrometry(GC-TOF/MS)technology was further implemented to systematically evaluate the microbial metabolite profiles.Principal component analysis(PCA)and orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA)displayed a distinct trend towards separation between the fermentation broth group(F group)and the control group(C group).The differentially expressed metabolites were identified,and they were mainly functionally enriched in beta-alanine metabolism and biosynthesis of unsaturated fatty acids.In addition,1,3-diaminopropane was selected as a key biomarker that responded to early inoculation with caecal fermentation broth.Conclusions:These results provide insight into intestinal metabolomics and confirm that early inoculation with caecal fermentation broth can be used as a potential strategy to improve intestinal health of broilers.Yujie Gong Wenrui Xia Xueting Wen Wentao Lyu Yingping Xiao Hua Yang Xiaoting Zou 2020Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2020,11,2:3
4Joint Computation Offloading and Resource Allocation for Mobile-Edge Computing Assisted Ultra-Dense Networks显示文摘Mobile-edge computing(MEC),enabling to offload computing tasks on mobile devices towards edge servers,can reduce the terminals cost.However,a single MEC sever usually has limited computing capabilities,which can not meet a large number of terminals’requirements.In this paper,we consider an ultra-dense networks(UDN)scenario where the macro base stations(MBSs)are assisted by MEC severs.In particular,we first construct system model for MEC assisted UDN,and build the system overhead minimization.Next,in order to solve the problem,we transform the problem into three sub-problems,i.e.,offloading strategies subproblem,channel assignments subproblem,and power allocation subproblem.Then,employing joint offloading and resource allocation algorithms,we obtain the optimal joint strategy for the MEC assisted UDNs.Finally,simulations are conducted to evaluate the performance of our proposed algorithms.Numerical results show that obtained algorithms can effectively reduce the energy consumption of the system and improve the overall performance of the system.Ya Gao Haoran Zhang Fei Yu Yujie Xia Yongpeng Shi 2022Journal of Communications and Information Networks2022,7,1:3

6Design of Pd{111}-TiO_2 interface for enhanced catalytic efficiency towards formic acid decomposition显示文摘Supports are commonly implemented in the industrial application of heterogeneous catalysts to improve the stability and recyclability of catalysts.The supported catalysts often show the enhanced activity and selectivity in various catalytic reactions.However,the specific contributions of electronic and steric effects to a catalytic system often remain elusive due to the lack of well-defined model systems.In this work,two types of uniform Pd nanocrystals covered by{111}facets in tetrahedral and octahedral shapes,respectively,are synthesized with identical chemical environment and loaded on Ti O_2supports to form hybrid structures(Pd{111}-Ti O_2)towards the application of formic acid decomposition.Our observation suggests that the polarization effect at the interface of Pd-Ti O_2enhances its activity in formic acid decomposition.Moreover,the Pd tetrahedrons-Ti O_2hybrid structure whose Pd{111}-Ti O_2interface possesses a larger angle shows higher catalytic activity,owing to the reduced steric effect as compared to Pd octahedrons-Ti O_2.This study reveals the nature of interface effects in formic acid decomposition,and provides a guidance for the related catalyst design.Yang You Hao Huang Song Xia Zijian Cai Panyiming Liu Chengming Wang Ran Long Li Song Yujie Xiong 2018Science China Chemistry2018,61,9:2
7A novel initial ranging algorithm for OFDMA systems using smart antenna显示文摘To improve the capacity of initial ranging(IR)users simultaneously accessing into network and enhance the performance of the IR,a novel IR algorithm is presented for the orthogonal frequency division multiple access systems with the smart antenna.The beamforming weight vectors provided by the antenna array are introduced for the IR users,and the procedures of the multiuser parameter estimation and the interference cancellation are designed.The proposed method can improve the accuracy of the channel estimation of active paths and efficiently reduce the residual multiple access interference.Simulation results show that the proposed method has a much better performance than the available successive multiuser detection and interference cancellation algorithm and accommodates more active ranging users simultaneously accessing into a cell.XIA YuJie REN GuangLiang 2014Science China(Information Sciences)2014,57,8:2

9Bioprinting and regeneration of auricular cartilage using a bioactive bioink based on microporous photocrosslinkable acellular cartilage matrix显示文摘Tissue engineering provides a promising strategy for auricular reconstruction.Although the first international clinical breakthrough of tissue-engineered auricular reconstruction has been realized based on polymer scaffolds,this approach has not been recognized as a clinically available treatment because of its unsatisfactory clinical efficacy.This is mainly since reconstruction constructs easily cause inflammation and deformation.In this study,we present a novel strategy for the development of biological auricle equivalents with precise shapes,low immunogenicity,and excellent mechanics using auricular chondrocytes and a bioactive bioink based on biomimetic microporous methacrylate-modified acellular cartilage matrix(ACMMA)with the assistance of gelatin methacrylate(GelMA),poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO),and polycaprolactone(PCL)by integrating multi-nozzle bioprinting technology.Photocrosslinkable ACMMA is used to emulate the intricacy of the cartilage-specific microenvironment for active cellular behavior,while GelMA,PEO,and PCL are used to balance printability and physical properties for precise structural stability,form the microporous structure for unhindered nutrient exchange,and provide mechanical support for higher shape fidelity,respectively.Finally,mature auricular cartilage-like tissues with high morphological fidelity,excellent elasticity,abundant cartilage lacunae,and cartilage-specific ECM deposition are successfully regenerated in vivo,which provides new opportunities and novel strategies for the fabrication and regeneration of patient-specific auricular cartilage.Litao Jia Yujie Hua Jinshi Zeng Wenshuai Liu Di Wang Guangdong Zhou Xia Liu Haiyue Jiang 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,10:2

17Effect of doped Ni-Bi-B alloy on hydrogen generation performance of Al-InCl3显示文摘In this work,Ni-Bi-B alloy has been synthesized via chemical synthesis method.A new kind of Al-InCl3-(Ni-Bi-B)composite has been prepared by high energy mechanical ball grinding A1 powder with additives.Results show that the doped Ni-Bi-B alloy can significantly improve the hydrogen generation performance of Al-InCl3 and the catalytic activity is enhanced with the increasing content of Bi in Ni-Bi-B alloy.Under optimal conditions,the hydrogen generation yield and conversion yield of Al-InCl3-(Ni-Bi-B)reached1196.8 mL g^-1 and 100.0%at room temperature,respectively.Mechanism study shows five kinds of active sites,such as the fresh surface/defect of Al particle,Al-AlCl3,Al-In,Al-Bi/B and Al-Ni/B produced during the ball milling process.Their synergistic effect enhances the hydrogen generation performance of AlInCl3-(Ni-Bi-B)remarkably.In general,the proposed Al-InCl3-(Ni-Bi-B)composite is possible to serve as hydrogen generation material for fuel cells.Jun Chen F.Xu L.Sun Kexiang Zhang Yongpeng Xia Xiaolei Guo Huanzhi Zhang Fang Yu Erhu Yan Hongliang Peng Pengru Huang Shujun Qiu Cuili Xiang Yujie Sun 2019Journal of Energy Chemistry2019,28,12:1

20A practical reference for studying meiosis in the model ciliate Tetrahymena thermophila显示文摘Meiosis is a critical cell division program that produces haploid gametes for sexual reproduction.Abnormalities in meiosis are often causes of infertility and birth defects(e.g.,Down syndrome).Most organisms use a highly specialized zipper-like protein complex,the synaptonemal complex(SC),to guide and stabilize pairing of homologous chromosomes in meiosis.Although the SC is critical for meiosis in many eukaryotes,there are organisms that perform meiosis without a functional SC.However,such SC-less meiosis is poorly characterized.To understand the features of SC-less meiosis and its adaptive significance,the ciliated protozoan Tetrahymena was selected as a model.Meiosis research in Tetrahymena has revealed intriguing aspects of the regulatory programs utilized in its SC-less meiosis,yet additional efforts are needed for obtaining an in-depth comprehension of mechanisms that are associated with the absence of SC.Here,aiming at promoting a wider application of Tetrahymena for meiosis research,we introduce basic concepts and core techniques for studying meiosis in Tetrahymena and then suggest future directions for expanding the current Tetrahymena meiosis research toolbox.These methodologies could be adopted for dissecting meiosis in poorly characterized ciliates that might reveal novel features.Such data will hopefully provide insights into the function of the SC and the evolution of meiosis from a unique perspective.Miao Tian Xia Cai Yujie Liu Mingmei Liucong Rachel Howard-Till 2022Marine Life Science & Technology2022,4,4:1
