2Design of Pd{111}-TiO_2 interface for enhanced catalytic efficiency towards formic acid decomposition显示文摘Supports are commonly implemented in the industrial application of heterogeneous catalysts to improve the stability and recyclability of catalysts.The supported catalysts often show the enhanced activity and selectivity in various catalytic reactions.However,the specific contributions of electronic and steric effects to a catalytic system often remain elusive due to the lack of well-defined model systems.In this work,two types of uniform Pd nanocrystals covered by{111}facets in tetrahedral and octahedral shapes,respectively,are synthesized with identical chemical environment and loaded on Ti O_2supports to form hybrid structures(Pd{111}-Ti O_2)towards the application of formic acid decomposition.Our observation suggests that the polarization effect at the interface of Pd-Ti O_2enhances its activity in formic acid decomposition.Moreover,the Pd tetrahedrons-Ti O_2hybrid structure whose Pd{111}-Ti O_2interface possesses a larger angle shows higher catalytic activity,owing to the reduced steric effect as compared to Pd octahedrons-Ti O_2.This study reveals the nature of interface effects in formic acid decomposition,and provides a guidance for the related catalyst design.Yang You Hao Huang Song Xia Zijian Cai Panyiming Liu Chengming Wang Ran Long Li Song Yujie Xiong 2018Science China Chemistry2018,61,9:2

4Mitochondria-localized cGAS suppresses ferroptosis to promote cancer progression显示文摘A well-established role of cyclic GMP-AMP synthase(cGAS)is the recognition of cytosolic DNA,which is linked to the activation of host defense programs against pathogens via stimulator of interferon genes(STING)-dependent innate immune response.Recent advance has also revealed that cGAS may be involved in several noninfectious contexts by localizing to subcellular compartments other than the cytosol.However,the subcellular localization and function of cGAS in different biological conditions is unclear;in particular,its role in cancer progression remains poorly understood.Here we show that cGAS is localized to mitochondria and protects hepatocellular carcinoma cells from ferroptosis in vitro and in vivo.cGAS anchors to the outer mitochondrial membrane where it associates with dynamin-related protein 1(DRP1)to facilitate its oligomerization.In the absence of cGAS or DRP1 oligomerization,mitochondrial ROS accumulation and ferroptosis increase,inhibiting tumor growth.Collectively,this previously unrecognized role for cGAS in orchestrating mitochondrial function and cancer progression suggests that cGAS interactions in mitochondria can serve as potential targets for new cancer interventions.Shiqiao Qiu Xiuying Zhong Xiang Meng Shiting Li Xiaoyu Qian Hui Lu Jin Cai Yi Zhang Mingjie Wang Zijian Ye Huafeng Zhang Ping Gao 2023Cell Research2023,33,4:2

7Synergies of carbon neutrality, air pollution control, and health improvement - a case study of China Energy Interconnection scenario显示文摘Climate change and air pollution are primarily caused by the combustion and utilization of fossil fuels.Both climate change and air pollution cause health problems.Based on the development of China,it is extremely important to explore the synergies of the energy transition,CO_(2) reduction,air pollution control,and health improvement under the target of carbon peaking before 2030 and carbon neutrality before 2060.This study introduces the policy evolution and research progress related to energy,climate change,and the environment in China and proposes a complete energy-climate-air-health mechanism framework.Based on the MESSAGE-GLOBIOM integrated assessment model,emission inventory and chemical transport model,and exposure-response function,a comprehensive assessment method of energy-climate-air-health synergies was established and applied to quantify the impacts of Chinese Energy Interconnection Carbon Neutrality(CEICN)scenario.The results demonstrate that,by 2060,the SO_(2),NO_(x) and PM_(2.5) emissions are estimated to be reduced by 91%,85%,and 90%respectively compared to the business-as-usual(BAU)scenario.The direct health impacts brought by achieving the goal of carbon neutrality will drive the proactive implementation of more emission reduction measures and bring greater benefits to human health.Jianxiang Shen Wenjia Cai Xiaotong Chen Xing Chen Zijian Zhao Zhiyuan Ma Fang Yang Shaohui Zhang 2022Global Energy Interconnection2022,5,5:1

9Effect of moxibustion on autophagy and the inflammatory response of synovial cells in rheumatoid arthritis model rats显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of moxibustion on synovitis and the autophagy of synoviocytes in rheumatoid arthritis(RA).METHODS:Forty Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into a normal group,model group,moxibustion group,cigarette moxibustion group,and medicine group,with eight rats included in each group.The RA model was established by subcutaneous injection of complete Freund's adjuvant into the left posterior toe.Rats in the model group were not interfered with.In the moxibustion group,rats were treated by moxibustion,where a 1-cm diameter moxa stick was applied at the left Zusanli(ST 36)point.The distance of the moxa stick to the skin was 2 cm and moxibustion was completed for 20 min daily for 15 d total.In the cigarette moxibustion group,the moxa stick was replaced by a common cigarette.In the medicine group,rats were treated with a tripterygium glycoside suspension(8 mg/kg)once a day for 15 d total.In each group,the left hind limb toe volume was measured with a toe volume meter;the synovial cells were observed by hematoxylin and eosin staining;the interleukin(IL)-4,IL-6,IL-10,IL-1β,IL-23,IL-17,and tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-αlevels in serum were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay;the erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR)were detected by Westergren sedimentation rate testing;the C-reactive protein(CRP)and rheumatoid factor(RF)levels in serum were detected by rate nephelometry;the expression levels of ULK1,autophagy-associated protein(Atg)3,Atg5,and Atg12 messenger RNA(m RNA)in synovium were detected by real time-quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-q PCR);and the protein expression levels of phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase(PI3K),protein kinase B(Akt),mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR),LC3-Ⅱ,beclin-1,phosphorylated-PI3K(p-PI3K),p-Akt,p-mTOR in synovium were detected by Western blotting.RESULTS:Among the RA model rats,joint swelling,an inflammatory reaction,and the proliferation of synovial tissue were obvious and the signal of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway was active,while autophagy was inhibited.Moxibustion at Zusanli(ST36)or intragastric administration of Tripterygium wilfordii glycosides could alleviate the inflammatory reaction of RA rats;relieve the swelling of the toes;downregulate the levels of ESR,CRF,RF;lower the levels of IL-6,IL-1β,TNF-α,and IL-17;and increase the IL-4 and IL-10.At the same time,the m RNA expression levels of ULK1,Atg3,Atg5,and Atg12 and those of LC3-Ⅱand beclin-1 were increased,while the PI3K,Akt,mTOR,p-PI3K,p-Akt,p-mTOR were decreased.Cigarette moxibustion did not significantly reduce the swelling of the toe joint in RA rats,and was not as good as that of moxibustion or Tripterygium wilfordii polyglycosides in the effects of inflammation relief and the influences of the levels of ESR,CRF,RF.While cigarette moxibustion has a weak effect to affect the expression of corresponding molecules in autophages and the expression level of the autophagy biomaker in synovial tissue.Moxibustion and tripterygium glycosides can significantly reduce the joint swelling,relieve synovitis and synovial hyperplasia,and inhibit the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway to increase autophagy in a manner superior to cigarette moxibustion.CONCLUSION:Moxibustion can limit the proliferation of synoviocytes in RA rats by inhibiting the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway,promoting autophagy,effectively reducing synovitis,and alleviating joint swelling.HAO Feng WANG Qiang LIU Lei WU Libin CAI Ronglin SANG Jiajia HU Jun WANG Jie YU Qing HE Lu SHEN Yingchao MIAO Yiming HU Ling WU Zijian 2022Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2022,42,1:1
10Optimization and Evaluation of Sputtering Barrier/Seed Layer in Through Silicon Via for 3-D Integration显示文摘The barrier/seed layer is a key issue in Through Silicon Via(TSV) technology for 3-D integration.Sputtering is an important deposition method for via metallization in semiconductor process. However,due to the limitation of sputtering and a 'scallop' profile inside vias,poor step coverage of the barrier/seed layer always occurs in the via metallization process. In this paper,the effects of several sputter parameters(DC power,Ar pressure,deposition time,and substrate temperature) on thin film coverage for TSV applications are investigated.Robust TSVs with aspect ratio 5 1 were obtained with optimized magnetron sputter parameters. 12CRISPR-mediated genome editing and human diseases显示文摘CRISPR(Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats)technology has emerged as a powerful technology for genome editing and is now widely used in basic biomedical research to explore gene function.More recently,this technology has been increasingly applied to the study or treatment of human diseases,including Barth syndrome effects on the heart,Duchenne muscular dystrophy,hemophilia,b-Thalassemia,and cystic fibrosis.CRISPR/Cas9(CRISPR-associated protein 9)genome editing has been used to correct diseasecausing DNA mutations ranging from a single base pair to large deletions in model systems ranging from cells in vitro to animals in vivo.In addition to genetic diseases,CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing has also been applied in immunology-focused applications such as the targeting of C-C chemokine receptor type 5,the programmed death 1 gene,or the creation of chimeric antigen receptors in T cells for purposes such as the treatment of the acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS)or promoting anti-tumor immunotherapy.Furthermore,this technology has been applied to the genetic manipulation of domesticated animals with the goal of producing biologic medical materials,including molecules,cells or organs,on a large scale.Finally,CRISPR/Cas9 has been teamed with induced pluripotent stem(iPS)cells to perform multiple tissue engineering tasks including the creation of disease models or the preparation of donor-specific tissues for transplantation.This review will explore the ways in which the use of CRISPR/Cas9 is opening new doors to the treatment of human diseases.Liquan Cai Alfred L.Fisher Haochu Huang Zijian Xie Marshal 2016Genes & Diseases2016,3,4:1

14Projections of heat-related excess mortality in China due to climate change,population and aging显示文摘Climate change is one of the biggest health threats of the 21st century.Although China is the biggest developing country,with a large population and different climate types,its projections of large-scale heat-related excess mortality remain understudied.In particular,the effects of climate change on aging populations have not been well studied,and may result in significantly underestimation of heat effects.In this study,we took four climate change scenarios of Tier-1 in CMIP6,which were combinations of Shared Socioeconomic Pathways(SSPs)and Representative Concentration Pathways(RCPs).We used the exposure-response functions derived from previous studies combined with baseline age-specific non-accidental mortality rates to project heat-related excess mortality.Then,we employed the Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index(LMDI)method to decompose the impacts of climate change,population growth,and aging on heat-related excess mortality.Finally,we multiplied the heat-related Years of Life Lost(YLL)with the Value of a Statistical Life Year(VSLY)to quantify the economic burden of premature mortality.We found that the heat-related excess mortality would be concentrated in central China and in the densely populated south-eastern coastal regions.When aging is considered,heat-related excess mortality will become 2.8–6.7 times than that without considering aging in 2081–2100 under different scenarios.The contribution analysis showed that the effect of aging on heat-related deaths would be much higher than that of climate change.Our findings highlighted that aging would lead to a severe increase of heat-related deaths and suggesting that regional-specific policies should be formulated in response to heat-related risks.Zhao Liu Si Gao Wenjia Cai Zongyi Li Can Wang Xing Chen Zhiyuan Ma Zijian Zhao 2023Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2023,17,11:0
15Dynamic geomorphology and storm response characteristics of the promontory-straight beach-a case of Gulei Beach, Fujian显示文摘As one of the main areas of tropical storm action in the northwestern Pacific Ocean,South China experiences several typhoons each year,and coastal erosion is a problem,making the area a natural testing ground for studying the dynamic geomorphological processes and storm response of promontory-straight coasts.This study is based on three years of topographic data and remote sensing imagery of Gulei Beach and uses topographic profile morphology,single width erosion-accretion and mean change,combined with the Coastsat model to quantify the seasonal and interannual variability and storm response of the beach and to explain the evolution of shoreline change and beach dynamics geomorphology in the last decade.Gulei Beach has been in a state of overall erosion and local accretion for a long time,with relatively obvious cyclical changes;seasonal changes are also obvious,which are mainly characterized by summer accretion and winter erosion,with accretion at the top of the bay and accretion and erosion on the north and south sides of the bay corner,respectively;the seasonal erosion-accretion volume of the beach profile ranges from-80 m3/m to 95.52 m3/m,and the interannual erosion-accretion volume ranges from-69.09 m3/m to 87.31 m3/m.The response of beaches to typhoons with different paths varies greatly depending on the length,slope,orientation and scale of beach development.The large and gently developing Futou beach is less responsive to storms,while the less developed headlands in the southern Gulei Peninsula are more susceptible to disturbance by external factors and respond more strongly to typhoons.Storm distance is more influential than storm intensity.Under the influence of human activities,obvious erosion hotspots develop during normal weather,but storm processes produce redistribution of beach material patterns,and erosion hotspots disappear after storms.The results of this study enrich the theory of beach dynamics geomorphology and provide technical support for disaster prevention and mitigation,as well as ecological restoration of coastal zones.Chao Cao Zijian Mao Feng Cai Hongshuai Qi Jianhui Liu Gang Lei Shaohua Zhao Gen Liu 2023Acta Oceanologica Sinica2023,42,7:0

17Molecular phylogeny and ultrastructure of a new population of Urostyla grandis(Ciliophora, Hypotrichida) from Harbin, China显示文摘A new population of Urostyla grandis, collected from a freshwater pond of northeastern China was investigated by living observation, silver impregnation, and molecular phylogeny based on small subunit ribosomal rRNA(SSU rRNA). Besides, its ultrastructural characteristics were investigated carefully by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM) methods.Complementary descriptions of some inner ultrastructures were provided and some new organelles were also found. Especially, the oral inner microtubule system was illustrated by SEM and TEM for the ?rst time and a new type extrusome was reported.
