1High-resolution records of Holocene from the Shuangchi Maar Lake in Hainan Island显示文摘The results of sedimentary characteristics, grain-size, clay mineral, C/N and pollen analysis reveal the evolution history of the Shuangchi Maar Lake of Hainan Island as well as the short-term climate variations in tropical areas. It is testified that the Maar sediment system was sensitive in recording the rapid climate changes in the Holocene. These multidisciplinary results demonstrate that the thermal maximum in the Holocene climate lasted from 7200 to 2700 aBP, with several abrupt ephemeral vibrations occurring between 7250-6120 aBP and at around 4460, 3850 and 2700 aBP. In the late Holocene, particularly at ~2700 aBP, a distinct environmental change indicating an important climate transition in the tropical eastern Asia was recorded, probably responding to the enhancement of ENSO phenomena in the Pacific Ocean. 2Fluidized mining and in-situ transformation of deep underground coal resources: a novel approach to ensuring safe, environmentally friendly, low-carbon, and clean utilisation显示文摘Traditional coal mining and utilisation patterns are severely detrimental to natural resources and environments and significantly impede safe, low-carbon, clean, and sustainable utilisation of coal resources. Based on the idea of in situ fluidized coal mining that aims to transform solid coal into liquid or gas and transports the fluidized resources to the ground to ensure safe mining and low-carbon and clean utilisation, in this study, we report on a novel in situ unmanned automatic mining method. This includes a flexible, earthworm-like unmanned automatic mining machine (UAMM) and a coal mine layout for in situ fluidized coal mining suitable for the UAMM. The technological and economic advantages and the carbon emission reduction of the UAMM-based in situ fluidized mining in contrast to traditional mining technologies are evaluated as well. The development trends and possible challenges to this design are also discussed. It is estimated that the proposed method costs approximately 49% of traditional coal mining costs. The UAMM-based in situ fluidized mining and transformation method will reduce CO2 emissions by at least 94.9% compared to traditional coal mining and utilisation methods. 3Single-photon detection and its applications显示文摘A single-photon detector is an extremely sensitive device capable of registering photons,offering essential technical support for optics quantum information applications.We review herein our recent experimental progress in the development and application of single-photon detection techniques.Techniques based on advanced self-differencing,low-pass filtering,frequency up-conversion and photon-number-resolving are introduced for attaining high-speed,high-efficiency,low-noise single-photon detection at infrared wavelengths.The advantages of high-speed single-photon detection are discussed in some applications,such as the laser ranging and quantum key distribution.The photon-number-resolving detection is shown to support efficient quantum random number generation.LIANG Yan ZENG HePing 2014Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2014,57,7:8
4ZmWRKY104 positively regulates salt tolerance by modulating ZmSOD4 expression in maize显示文摘Salinity impairs plant growth, limiting agricultural development. It is desirable to identify genes responding to salt stress and their mechanism of action. We identified a function of the Zea mays WRKY transcription factor, Zm WRKY104, in salt stress response. Zm WRKY104 was localized in the nucleus and showed transcriptional activation activity. Phenotypic and physiological analysis showed that overexpression of Zm WRKY104 in maize increased the tolerance of maize to salt stress and alleviated salt-induced increases in O;accumulation, malondialdehyde(MDA) content, and percent of electrolyte leakage. Further investigation showed that Zm WRKY104 increased SOD activity by regulating Zm SOD4 expression. Yeast onehybrid, electrophoretic mobility shift test, and chromatin immunoprecipitation–quantitative PCR assay showed that Zm WRKY104 bound directly to the promoter of Zm SOD4 by recognizing the W-box motif in vivo and in vitro. Phenotypic, physiological, and biochemical analysis showed that Zm SOD4 increased salt tolerance by alleviating salt-induced increases in O;accumulation, MDA content, and percent of electrolyte leakage under salt stress. 5IL-17A-dependent gut microbiota is essential for regulating diet-induced disorders in mice显示文摘The gut microbiota plays a key role in obesity and related metabolic disorders, and multiple factors including diet, host genotype, and age regulate it. Many studies have examined the contribution of extrinsic factors to the regulation of the gut microbiota, but the importance of the host genetic constitution cannot be ignored. Interleukin 17A(IL-17A), a pro-inflammatory cytokine, is important in the defense against infection and diseases. Here, we investigated the association among IL-17, a high-fat diet(HFD), and the gut microbiota. Mice deficient in IL-17A were resistant to diet-induced obesity and related diseases. Compared with the Ⅱ-17^(-/-)mice, wild-type(WT) mice challenged with HFD showed obvious weight fluctuations, such as those seen in type 2 diabetes, and hematological changes similar to those associated with metabolic syndrome. However, housing WT mice and Ⅱ-17a^(-/-)mice together significantly alleviated these symptoms in the WT mice. A metagenomic analysis of the mouse feces indicated that the microbial community compositions of these two groups differed before HFD feeding. The HFD mediated shifts in the gut microbial compositions, which were associated with the mouse phenotypes.We also identified potentially beneficial and harmful species present during this period, and drew networks of the most abundant species. A functional analysis indicated pathway changes in the WT and Ⅱ-17a^(-/-)mice when fed the HFD. 6Highly efficient difference-frequency generation for mid-infrared pulses by passively synchronous seeding显示文摘We have proposed and experimentally demonstrated a novel scheme for efficient mid-infrared difference-frequency generation based on passively synchronized fiber lasers. The adoption of coincident seeding pulses in the nonlinear conversion process could substantially lower the pumping threshold for mid-infrared parametric emission. Consequently,a picosecond mid-infrared source at 3.1 μm was prepared with watt-level average power, and a maximum power conversion efficiency of 77% was realized from pump to down-converted light. Additionally, the long-term stability of generated power was manifested with a relative fluctuation as low as 0.17% over one hour. 7Electrospun polyporous VN nanofibers for symmetric all-solid-state supercapacitors显示文摘To promote the energy density of symmetric all-solid-state supercapacitors(SCs),efforts have been dedicated to searching for high-performance electrode materials recently. In this paper,vanadium nitride(VN) nanofibers with mesoporous structure have been fabricated by a facile electrospinning method. Their crystal structures and morphology features were characterized by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,and transmission electron microscopy. The mesoporous structure of VN nanofibers,which can provide short electrolyte diffusion routes and conducting electron transport pathways,is beneficial to their performance as a supercapacitor electrode. Under a stable electrochemical window of 1.0 V,VN nanofibers possess an excellent mass specific capacitance of 110.8 F/g at a scan rate of 5 mV/s. Moreover,the VN nanofibers were further assembled into symmetric all-solid-state SCs,achieving a high energy density of 0.89 mW·h/cm^3 and a high power density of 0.016 W/cm^3 over an operating potential range from 0 to 1.0 V. 8Theoretical and technological exploration of deep in situ fluidized coal mining显示文摘Mining industries worldwide have inevitably resorted to exploiting resources from the deep underground.However,traditional mining methods can cause various problems,e.g.,considerable mining difficulty,environmental degradations,and frequent disastrous accidents.To exploit deep resources in the future,the concept of mining must be reconsidered and innovative new theories,methods,and technologies must be applied.To effectively acquire coal resources deeper than 2000 m,new theoretical and technological concepts about deep in situ fluidized mining are required.The limits of mining depth need to be broken to acquire deep-coal resources in an environmentally friendly,safe,and efficient manner.This is characterized by‘There are no coal on the ground and no men in the coal mine’.First,this paper systematically explains deep in situ fluidized coal mining.Then,it presents a new theoretical concept,including the theories of mining-induced rock mechanics,three-field visualization,multi-physics coupling for in situ transformation,and in situ mining,transformation and transport.It also presents key technological concepts,including those of intelligent,unmanned,and fluidized mining.Finally,this paper presents a strategic roadmap for deep in situ fluidized coal mining.In summary,this paper develops new theoretical and technological systems for accomplishing groundbreaking innovations in mining technologies of coal resources in the deep underground.Heping XIE Yang JU Shihua REN Feng GAO Jianzhong LIU Yan ZHU 2019Frontiers in Energy2019,13,4:3
9Low-noise InGaAs/InP single-photon detector with widely tunable repetition rates显示文摘InGaAs/InP avalanche photodiodes typically work in the gated Geiger mode to achieve near-infrared singlephoton detection. By using ultrashort gates and combining with the robust spike-canceling technique that consists of the capacitance-balancing and low-pass filtering technique, we demonstrate an InGaAs/InP single-photon detector(SPD) with widely tunable repetition rates in this paper. The operation frequency could be tuned conveniently from 100 MHz to 1.25 GHz with the SPD's performance measured to maintain good performance, making it quite suitable for quantum key distribution, laser ranging, and optical time domain reflectometry. Furthermore,the SPD exhibited extremely low-noise characteristics. 10Highly stable carbon-based perovskite solar cell with a record efficiency of over 18% via hole transport engineering显示文摘Carbon-based perovskite solar cells show great potential owing to their low-cost production and superior stability in air, compared to their counterparts using metal contacts. The photovoltaic performance of carbon-based PSCs, however, has been progressing slowly in spite of an impressive efficiency when they were first reported. One of the major obstacles is that the hole transport materials developed for stateof-the-art Au-based PSCs are not suitable for carbon-based PSCs. Here, we develop a low-temperature,solution-processed Poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl)(P3 HT)/graphene composite hole transport layer(HTL), that is compatible with paintable carbon-electrodes to produce state-of-the-art perovskite devices. Space-charge-limited-current measurements reveal that the as-prepared P3 HT/graphene composite exhibits outstanding charge mobility and thermal tolerance, with hole mobility increasing from8.3 × 10^-3 cm^2 V-1 s-1(as-deposited) to 1.2 × 10^-2 cm2 V^-1 s^-1(after annealing at 100°C)-two orders of magnitude larger than pure P3 HT. The improved charge transport and extraction provided by the composite HTL provides a significant efficiency improvement compared to cells with a pure P3 HT HTL. As a result, we report carbon-based solar cells with a record efficiency of 17.8%(certified by Newport);and the first perovskite cells to be certified under the stabilized testing protocol. 11Mid-infrared photon counting and resolving via efficient frequency upconversion显示文摘Optical detectors with single-photon sensitivity and large dynamic range would facilitate a variety of applications.Specifically,the capability of extending operation wavelengths into the mid-infrared region is highly attractive.Here we implement a mid-infrared frequency upconversion detector for counting and resolving photons at 3μm.Thanks to the spectrotemporal engineering of the involved optical fields,the mid-infrared photons could be spectrally translated into the visible band with a conversion efficiency of 80%.In combination with a silicon avalanche photodiode,we obtained unprecedented performance with a high overall detection efficiency of 37%and a low noise equivalent power of 1.8×10^(-17) W∕Hz1∕2.Furthermore,photon-number-resolving detection at mid-infrared wavelengths was demonstrated,for the first time to our knowledge,with a multipixel photon counter.The implemented upconversion detector exhibited a maximal resolving photon number up to 9 with a noise probability per pulse of 0.14%at the peak detection efficiency.The achieved photon counting and resolving performance might open up new possibilities in trace molecule spectroscopy,sensitive biochemical sensing,and free-space communications,among others.KUN HUANG YINQI WANG JIANAN FANG WEIYAN KANG YING SUN YAN LIANG QIANG HAO MING YAN HEPING ZENG 2021Photonics Research2021,9,2:2
12Effect of adjuvant therapy with electroacupuncture on bone turnover markers and interleukin 17 in patients with rheumatoid arthritis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of electroacupuncture as an adjuvant treatment with first-line medications on bone metabolism biomarkers and interleukin-17(IL-17) in the peripheral blood of patients with rheumatoid arthritis(RA).METHODS: Sixty RA patients were randomized into three groups. The control group was treated with methotrexate plus leflunomide(MTX + LEF),the acupuncture group was treated with simple needling plus MTX + LEF, and the patients in the electroacupuncture(EA) group were treated with EA plus MTX + LEF. EA or acupuncture was applied every other day for a total of 10 times over a treatment period of 8 weeks.RESULTS: In all three treatment groups, serum levels of the bone metabolism markers PICP, N-MID,and B-ALP were elevated and the concentrations of the inflammatory markers β-CTx, IL-17, CRP, and TRACP-5b were reduced after treatment. These differences were significant for the EA group but not the other groups(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: EA could effectively reduce the suffering and improve the quality of life of RA patients. 19Classification of Vegetation in North Tibet Plateau Based on MODIS Time-Series Data显示文摘Based on the 16d-composite MODIS (moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer)-NDVI(normalized difference vegetation index) time-series data in 2004, vegetation in North Tibet Plateau was classified and seasonal variations on the pixels selected from different vegetation type were analyzed. The Savitzky-Golay filtering algorithm was applied to perform a filtration processing for MODIS-NDVI time-series data. The processed time-series curves can reflect a real variation trend of vegetation growth. The NDVI time-series curves of coniferous forest, high-cold meadow, high-cold meadow steppe and high-cold steppe all appear a mono-peak model during vegetation growth with the maximum peak occurring in August. A decision-tree classification model was established according to either NDVI time-series data or land surface temperature data. And then, both classifying and processing for vegetations were carried out through the model based on NDVI time-series curves.
