| 1 | Potential predictive factors for pathologic complete response after the neoadjuvant treatment of rectal adenocarcinoma:a single center experience显示文摘Objective:To assess the response rate of patients with rectal adenocarcinoma to neoadjuvant therapy and to identify the predictors of histological regression after neoadjuvant radiotherapy(RT)or concurrent chemoradiotherapy(CCRT).Methods:This study recruited 64 patients.The patients had resectable cancer of the lower and the middle rectum(T3/T4 and/or N+)without distant metastasis and received neoadjuvant RT or CCRT followed by radical surgery with total mesorectal excision(TME)between January 2006 and December 2011.The patients were classified into non-response(NR),partial response(PR),and pathologic complete response(p CR)based on the Dworak tumor regression grading system.Results:The median age of patients was 57 years(ranging from 22 to 85).A total of 24 patients were treated with neoadjuvant CCRT,whereas 40 patients were treated with RT alone.Abdominoperineal resection(APR)was performed on 29 patients(45%).Anterior resection with TME was performed on 34 patients(53%).One patient had local resection.Histologically,12(19%),24(73%),and 28(44%)patients exhibited p CR,PR,and NR,respectively.Univariate analysis revealed that the predictors of tumor regression were as follows:the absence of lymph node involvement from initial imaging(c N0)(P=0.021);normal initial carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)level(P=0.01);hemoglobin level≥12 g/dl(P=0.009);CCRT(P=0.021);and tumor downstaging in imaging(P=0.001).Multivariate analysis showed that the main predictors of p CR were CT combined with neoadjuvant RT,c N0stage,and tumor regression on imaging.Conclusions:Identifying the predictors of p CR following neoadjuvant therapy aids the selection of responsive patients for nonaggressive surgical treatment and possible surveillance. | Feryel Letaief Meher Nasri Mouna Ayadi Khedija Meddeb Amina Mokrani Yosra Yahyaoui Nesrine Chraiet Henda Raies Amel Mezlini | 2017 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2017，14，3： | 3 |

To address this issue,we investigate in this work, the use of the superposition coding technique to increase the system capacity through multiuser diversity exploitation. We propose a novel joint admission control and superposition coding formalism based on different utility functions:Opportunistic(OPSC), Great Fairness(GFSC)and Proportional Fairness(PFSC). | 11 | A novel t(3;12)(q21;p13) translocation in a patient with accelerated chronic myeloid leukemia after imatinib and nilotinib therapy显示文摘The acquisition of secondary chromosomal aberrations in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) patients with Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) karyotype signifies clonal evolution associated with the progression of the disease to its accelerated or blastic phase. Therefore, these aberrations have clinical and biological significance. T(3;12)(q26;p13), which is a recurrent chromosomal aberration observed in myeloid malignancies, is typically associated with dysplasia of megakaryocytes, multilineage involvement, short duration of any blastic phase, and extremely poor prognosis. We have identified a recurrent reciprocal translocation between chromosomes 3 and 12 with different breakpoint at bands 3q21 in the malignant cells from a 28-year-old man. The patient was initially diagnosed as having Ph+ CML in the chronic phase. The t(3;12)(q21;p13) translocation occurred 4 years after the patient was first diagnosed with CML while undergoing tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy. We confirmed the t(3;12)(q21;p13) translocation via fluorescence in situ hybridization assay by using whole-chromosome paint probes for chromosomes 3 and 12. Our findings demonstrate that, similar to other recurrent translocations involving 3q26 such as t(3;3) and t(3;21), the t(3;12)(q21;p13) translocation is implicated not only in myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia but also in the progression of CML. | 17 | Astragalus adscendens extract shows antidiabetic effects through controlling oxidative stress,inflammation and apoptosis in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats显示文摘Objective:To assess the effect of oral treatment of methanolic extract of the aerial parts of Astragalus adscendens in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.Methods:In order to induce diabetes,rats intraperitoneally received streptozotocin at 65 mg/kg.Sixty adult male Wistar rats were allocated into six groups(10 rats per each)including the healthy control group,the diabetic group as well as the diabetic group treated with Astragalus adscendens methanolic extract at 50,100,and 200 mg/kg per day or glibenclamide(0.6 mg/kg/day)for 28 d.The effects of Astragalus adscendens methanolic extract on the levels of glucose,insulin,alanine aminotransferase,alkaline phosphatase,aspartate aminotransferase,bilirubin,creatinine,urea,uric acid,total protein,albumin,triglyceride,cholesterol,α-amylase,oxidant/antioxidant enzymes,and inflammatory cytokines were evaluated.Real time-PCR was also used for measuring the gene expression of caspase-3,Bcl2,and Bax.Results:The levels of glucose,cholesterol,triglyceride,creatinine,urea,uric acid,alanine aminotransferase,aspartate aminotransferase,alkaline phosphatase,bilirubin,and malondialdehyde considerably declined(P<0.001)in diabetic rats after treatment with Astragalus adscendens methanolic extract especially at a dose of 200 mg/kg.In addition,treatment with Astragalus adscendens methanolic extract noticeably increased the level of insulin,total protein,and albumin as well as improved the activities of catalase,glutathione peroxidase,and superoxide dismutase,as well as the expression levels of TNF-α,IL-1β,caspase-3,Bcl2 and Bax(P<0.001)compared to the diabetic control group.The extract also inhibitedα-amylase in a dose-dependent manner with an IC_(50)value of 19.6μg/mL.Conclusions:Astragalus adscendens methanolic extract shows potent antidiabetic,anti-inflammatory,anti-apoptotic,and antioxidant effects in diabetic rats.However,more studies are needed to verify the underlying mechanism of the effect of this plant extract and test its efficacy in clinical trials. | Yosra Raziani Kimia Karami Hamid Reza Mohammadi Hossein Mahmoudvand Mohammad Nabi Moradi Javad Ghasemian Yadegari | 2023 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2023，13，6： | 0 |

| 20 | Severe hemorrhagic colitis in a patient with chronic myeloid leukemia in the blastic phase after dasatinib use显示文摘Dasatinib is a second-line tyrosine kinase inhibitor used in patients with imatinib resistant or intolerant chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and Philadelphia chromosomepositive acute leukemia. Gastrointestinal bleeding may occur in up to 7% of patients using dasatinib, although, severe dasatinib-related acute colitis had rarely been reported. Here, we present the case of a 36-year-old female who progressed to acute myeloid leukemia after fourteen months of receiving imatinib for CML in the chronic phase and was treated with a dasatinib-containing chemotherapy regimen. On day 34 of treatment, the patient developed moderate abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea with mucous. Analyses of stool specimens were negative for parasites, Clostridium difficile , and other pathogenic bacteria. The cytomegalovirus pp65 antigen was negative in her blood leukocytes. A colonoscopy revealed acute colitis, and a mucosal biopsy showed nonspecific colitis. The patient was treated with broad-spectrum antibiotics, bowel rest and hydration, and dasatinib treatment was stopped. Her bloody diarrhea improved within 72 h. After confirming cytological remission, the patient received initial course of consolidation, and dasatinib treatment was reinstated. However, hemorrhagic colitis recurred. After discontinuing dasatinib, herhemorrhagic colitis drastically improved and did not recur following the administration of nilotinib.
