| 1 | The influence of land use change on the spatial–temporal variability of habitat quality between 1990 and 2010 in Northeast China显示文摘Land use changes are a direct consequence of interactions between humans and nature.Analysing the spatial and temporal changes in habitat quality brought about by land use change can provide a scientific basis for ecological protection and land planning.Based on the analysis of land use change from 1990 to 2010 in Northeast China,we used the InVEST(integrated valuation of ecosystem services and trade-offs)module to evaluate habitat quality based on watershed subdivision.The results show that:(1)the main land use changes from 1990 to 2010 were the transition from grasslands and forest lands to agricultural lands,which led to a decrease in connectivity of landscape and an increase in fragmentation;(2)areas of high habitat quality were distributed north of the Greater Khingan Mountains,the region of the Lesser Khingan Mountains and east of the Changbai Mountains,while the central plain had low habitat quality;(3)agricultural lands had the largest effect on habitat degradation among all habitat threats.During these 2 decades,the contribution of agricultural lands to habitat degradation were 43.4%in 1990,44.6%in 2000 and 43.9%in 2010;and,(4)at a landscape scale,patch density and splitting index present noticeable negative correlations with habitat quality index.Habitat quality was significantly affected by landscape fragmentation and decreased connectivity. | Limin Dai Shanlin Li Bernard J.Lewis Jian Wu Dapao Yu Wangming Zhou Li Zhou Shengnan Wu | 2019 | Journal of Forestry Research2019,30,6: | 18 |
| 2 | Biomass Carbon Storage and Its Sequestration Potential of Afforestation under Natural Forest Protection Program in China显示文摘Based on the data from China′s Seventh Forest Inventory for the period of 2004–2008, area and stand volume of different types and age-classes of plantation were used to establish the relationship between biomass density and age of planted forests in different regions of the country. Combined with the plantation area in the first-stage of the Natural Forest Protection(NFP) program(1998–2010), this study calculated the biomass carbon storage of the afforestation in the first-stage of the program. On this basis, the carbon sequestration potential of these forests was estimated for the second stage of the program(2011–2020). Biomass carbon storage of plantation established in the first stage of the program was 33.67 Tg C, which was majority accounted by protection forests(30.26 Tg C). There was a significant difference among carbon storage in different regions, which depended on the relationship of biomass carbon density, forest age and plantation area. Under the natural growth, the carbon storage was forecasted to increase annually from 2011 to 2020, reaching 96.03 Tg C at the end of the second-stage of the program in 2020. | 3 | Forest Carbon Storage and Tree Carbon Pool Dynamics under Natural Forest Protection Program in Northeastern China显示文摘The Natural Forest Protection(NFP) program is one of the Six Key Forestry Projects which were adopted by the Chinese Government since the 1980s to address important natural issues in China. It advanced to protecting and restoring the structures and functions of the natural forests through sustainable forest management. However, the role of forest carbon storage and tree carbon pool dynamics since the adoption of the NFP remains unknown. To address this knowledge gap, this study calculated forest carbon storage(tree, understory, forest floor and soil) in the forest region of northeastern(NE) China based on National Forest Inventory databases and field investigated databases. For tree biomass, this study utilized an improved method for biomass estimation that converts timber volume to total forest biomass; while for understory, forest floor and soil carbon storage, this study utilized forest type-specific mean carbon densities multiplied by their areas in the region. Results showed that the tree carbon pool under the NFP in NE China functioned as a carbon sink from 1998 to 2008, with an increase of 6.3 Tg C/yr, which was mainly sequestrated by natural forests(5.1 Tg C/yr). At the same time, plantations also acted as a carbon sink, reflecting an increase of 1.2 Tg C/yr. In 2008, total carbon storage in forests covered by the NFP in NE China was 4603.8 Tg C, of which 4393.3 Tg C was stored in natural forests and 210.5 Tg C in planted forests. Soil was the largest carbon storage component, contributing 69.5%–77.8% of total carbon storage; followed by tree and forest floor, accounting for 16.3%–23.0% and 5.0%–6.5% of total carbon storage, respectively. | 4 | A statistical analysis of spatiotemporal variations and determinant factors of forest carbon storage under China's Natural Forest Protection Program显示文摘The Natural Forest Protection Program(NFPP)is one of the key ecological forestry programs in China.It not only facilitates the improvement of forest ecological quality in NFPP areas,but also plays a significant role in increasing the carbon storage of forest ecosystems.The program covers 17 provinces,autonomous regions,and municipalities with correspondingly diverse forest resources and environments,ecological features,engineering measures and forest management regimes,all of which affect regional carbon storage.In this study,volume of timber harvest,tending area,pest-infested forest,firedamaged forest,reforestation,and average annual precipitation,and temperature were evaluated as factors that influence carbon storage.We developed a vector autoregression model for these seven indicators and we studied the dominant factors of carbon storage in the areas covered by NFPP.Timber harvest was the dominant factorinfluencing carbon storage in the Yellow and Yangtze River basins.Reforestation contributed most to carbon storage in the state-owned forest region in Xinjiang.In state-owned forest regions of Heilongjiang and Jilin Provinces,the dominant factors were forest fires and forest cultivation,respectively.For the enhancement of carbon sequestration capacity,a longer rotation period and a smaller timber harvest are recommended for the Yellow and Yangtze River basins.Trees should be planted in stateowned forests in Xinjiang.Forest fires should be prevented in state-owned forests in Heilongjiang,and greater forest tending efforts should be made in the state-owned forests in Jilin. | Shengnan Wu Jiaqi Li Wangming Zhou Bernard Joseph Lewis Dapao Yu Li Zhou Linhai Jiang Limin Dai | 2018 | Journal of Forestry Research2018,29,2: | 7 |
| 5 | A fundamental theorem for eco-environmental surface modelling and its applications显示文摘We propose a fundamental theorem for eco-environmental surface modelling(FTEEM) in order to apply it into the fields of ecology and environmental science more easily after the fundamental theorem for Earth’s surface system modeling(FTESM). The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei(BTH) region is taken as a case area to conduct empirical studies of algorithms for spatial upscaling, spatial downscaling, spatial interpolation, data fusion and model-data assimilation, which are based on high accuracy surface modelling(HASM), corresponding with corollaries of FTEEM. The case studies demonstrate how eco-environmental surface modelling is substantially improved when both extrinsic and intrinsic information are used along with an appropriate method of HASM. Compared with classic algorithms, the HASM-based algorithm for spatial upscaling reduced the root-meansquare error of the BTH elevation surface by 9 m. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial downscaling reduced the relative error of future scenarios of annual mean temperature by 16%. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial interpolation reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean precipitation by 0.2%. The HASM-based algorithm for data fusion reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean temperature by 70%. The HASM-based algorithm for model-data assimilation reduced the relative error of carbon stocks by 40%. | 7 | Superior adsorption performance of graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets for both cationic and anionic heavy metals from wastewater显示文摘Water pollution caused by highly toxic Cd(II), Pb(II), and Cr(VI) is a serious problem. In the present work,a green and low-cost adsorbent of g-C_3N_4 nanosheets was developed with superior capacity for both cationic and anionic heavy metals. The adsorbent was easily fabricated through one-step calcination of guanidine hydrochloride with thickness less than 1.6 nm and specific surface area of 111.2 m^2·g^(-1). Kinetic and isotherm studies suggest that the adsorption is an endothermic chemisorption process, occurring on the energetically heterogeneous surface based on a hybrid mechanism of multilayer and monolayer adsorption. The tri-s-triazine units and surface N-containing groups of g-C_3N_4 nanosheets are proposed to be responsible for the adsorption process.Further study on pH demonstrates that electrostatic interaction plays an important role. The maximum adsorption capacity of Cd(II), Pb(II), and Cr(VI) on g-C_3N_4 nanosheets is 123.205 mg·g^(-1), 136.571 mg·g^(-1),and 684.451 mg·g^(-1), respectively. The better adsorption performance of the adsorbent than that of the recently reported nanomaterials and low-cost adsorbents proves its great application potential in the removal of heavy metal contaminants from wastewater. | 9 | Constructing graphene nanosheet-supported FeOOH nanodots for hydrogen storage of MgH2显示文摘Novel graphene-supported FeOOH nanodots(FeOOH NDs@G)were successfully prepared by a facile hydrothermal method and doped into MgH_(2)through mechanical ball-milling.MgH_(2)with 10wt%FeOOH NDs@G began to release hydrogen at 229.8℃,which is106.8℃ lower than that of pure MgH_(2).The MgH_(2)-10wt%FeOOH NDs@G composite could reversibly absorb 6.0wt%hydrogen at 200℃ under a 3.2 MPa hydrogen pressure within 60 min.With the addition of FeOOH NDs@G,the dehydrogenation and hydrogenation activation energy of MgH_(2)was decreased to 125.03 and 58.20 kJ·mol^(-1)(156.05 and 82.80 kJ·mol^(-1)for pure MgH_(2)),respectively.Furthermore,the hydrogen capacity of the FeOOH NDs@G composite retained 98.5%of the initial capacity after 20 cycles,showing good cyclic stability.The catalytic action of FeOOH NDs@G towards MgH_(2)could be attributed to the synergistic effect between graphene nanosheets and in-situ formed Fe,which prevented the aggregation of Mg/MgH2 particles and accelerated the hydrogen diffusion during cycling,thus enabling the Mg H_(2)-10wt%FeOOH NDs@G composite to exhibit excellent hydrogen storage performance. | Mengchen Song Liuting Zhang Jiaguang Zheng Zidong Yu Shengnan Wang | 2022 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2022,29,7: | 3 |

| 11 | Monolithic homogeneous integrated miniaturized triboelectric nanogenerator with an inner air cavity for energy harvesting显示文摘To realize the high-efficiency acquisition of environmental mechanical energy,traditional triboelectric nanogenerators(TENGs)based on contact-separation consist of two separate triboelectric layers.Their large contact-separation gap increases the overall volume of the device,making it difficult to realize miniaturization and flexibility.This work,therefore,presents a fully enclosed all-in-one-shaped flexible TENG(FEAST)with an air cavity using rubber mixing and high-temperature vulcanization.The air pressure inside the enclosed air cavity facilitates effective contact-separation of the FEAST.The homogeneous integration between the triboelectric layer and the electrode layer enhances structural firmness without using extra spacer materials.The developed FEAST presents excellent mechanical durability even after 10000 cycles.By increasing the active contact area between the triboelectric materials,a maximum peak-peak output voltage,current,and power density of 130 V,1.1μA,and277 m W/m^(2),respectively,were obtained with an effective stress area of 1 cm2.Moreover,the fully enclosed structure ensures that the output performance is not affected by the external environment.The FEAST was fixed onto the sole of a shoe to demonstrate its applicability in harvesting mechanical energy from human motions.Overall,the developed method provides a simple approach for optimizing the structure of TENGs and is compatible with large-scale manufacturing. | HOU XiaoJuan ZHANG ShengNan YU JunBin YANG ChangJun ZHANG Ning HE Jian CHOU XiuJian | 2021 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,3: | 3 |
| 12 | Electron-phonon coupling-assisted universal red luminescence of o-phenylenediamine-based carbon dots显示文摘Due to the complex core-shell structure and variety of surface functional groups,the photoluminescence(PL)mechanism of carbon dots(CDs)remain unclear.o-Phenylenediamine(oPD),as one of the most common precursors for preparing red emissive CDs,has been extensively studied.Interestingly,most of the red emission CDs based on oPD have similar PL emission characteristics.Herein,we prepared six different oPD-based CDs and found that they had almost the same PL emission and absorption spectra after purifiication.Structural and spectral characterization indicated that they had similar carbon core structures but diffferent surface polymer shells.Furthermore,single-molecule PL spectroscopy confirmed that the multi-modal emission of those CDs originated from the transitions of different vibrational energy levels of the same PL center in the carbon core.In addition,the phenomenon of'spectral splitting'of single-particle CDs was observed at low temperature,which confirmed these oPD-based CDs were unique materials with properties of both organic molecules and quantum dots.Finally,theoretical calculations revealed their potential polymerization mode and carbon core structure.Moreover,we proposed the PL mechanism of red-emitting CDs based on oPD precursors;that is,the carbon core regulates the PL emission,and the polymer shell regulates the PL intensity.Our work resolves the controversy on the PL mechanism of oPD-based red CDs.These findings provide a general guide for the mechanism exploration and structural analysis of other types of CDs. | Boyang Wang Zhihong Wei Laizhi Sui Jingkun Yu Baowei Zhang Xiaoyong Wang Shengnan Feng Haoqiang Song Xue Yong Yuxi Tian Bai Yang Siyu Lu | 2022 | Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,7: | 2 |
| 13 | Effects of Logging Intensity on Structure and Composition of a Broadleaf-Korean Pine Mixed Forest on Changbai Mountains,Northeast China显示文摘In order to identify a harvesting model which is beneficial for broadleaf-Korean pine mixed forest(BKF) sustainability, we investigated four types of harvested stands which have been logged with intensities of 0(T0, control), 15%(T1, low intensity), 35%(T2, moderate intensity), and 100%(T3, clear-cutting), and examined the impacts of logging intensity on composition and structure of these stands. Results showed that there were no significant differences between T0 and T1 for all structural characteristics, except for density of seeding and large trees. The mean diameter at breast height(DBH, 1.3 m above the ground), stem density and basal area of large trees in T2 were significantly lower than in T0, while the density of seedlings and saplings were significantly higher in T2 than in T0. Structural characteristics in T3 were entirely different from T0. Dominant tree species in primary BKF comprised 93%, 85%, 45% and 10% of the total basal area in T0, T1, T2 and T3, respectively. Three community similarity indices, the Jaccard′s similarity coefficient(CJ); the Morisita-Horn index(CMH); and the Bray-Curtis index(CN), were the highest for T0 and T1, followed by T0 and T2, and T0 and T3, in generally. These results suggest that effects of harvesting on forest composition and structure are related to logging intensities. Low intensity harvesting is conductive to preserving forest structure and composition, allowing it to recover in a short time period. | 14 | Semi-elastic core-shell nanoparticles enhanced the oral bioavailability of peptide drugs显示文摘The rigidity of nanoparticles was newly reported to influence their oral delivery.Semi-elastic nanoparticles can enhance the penetration in mucus and uptake by epithelial cells.However,it is still challenging and unclear that the semi-elastic core-shell nanoparticles can enhance the oral bioavailability of peptide drugs.This study was for the first time to validate the semi-elastic coreshell poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA)-lipid nanoparticles(LNPs)as the carrier of the oral peptide drug.The antihypertensive peptide Val-Leu-Pro-Val-Pro(VP5)loaded LNPs(VP5-LNPs)were prepared by a modified thin-film ultrasonic dispersion method.Uptake experiment was performed in Caco-2 and HT-29 cells and monito red by high content screening(HCS)and flow cyto metric(FCM).Pharmacokinetics of VP5-LNPs was carried out in Sprague-Dawley(SD)rats and analyzed by DAS 2.0.The optimal VP5-LNPs had an average particle size of 247.3±3.8 nm,zeta potential of-6.57±0.45 mV and excellent entrapment efficiency(EE)of 89.88%±1.23%.Transmission electron microscope(TEM)and Differential scanning calorimeter(DSC)further confirmed the core-shell structure.VP5-LNPs could increase the cellular uptake in vitro and have a 2.55-fold increase in AUC0-72 h,indicating a great promotion of the o ral bioavailability.The semi-elastic LNPs remarkably improved the oral availability of peptide and could be a promising oral peptide delivery system for peptide drugs in the future. | Shengnan Zhao Jinhua Li Fazhan Wang Ting Yu Yang Zhou Lili He Yi Zhang jian Yang | 2020 | Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,5: | 2 |

| 16 | MAT1 correlates with molecular subtypes and predicts poor survival in breast cancer显示文摘Objective:Menage a trois 1(MAT1)is a targeting subunit of cyclin-dependent kinase-activating kinase and general transcription factor IIH kinase,which modulates cell cycle,transcription and DNA repair.Its dysregulation is responsible for diseases including cancers.To further explore the role of MAT1 in breast cancer,we investigated the pathways in which MAT1 might be involved,the association between MAT1 and molecular subtypes,and the role of MAT1 in clinical outcomes of breast cancer patients.Methods:We conducted immunohistochemistry staining on tissue microarray and immunofluorescence staining on sections of MAT1 stable breast cancer cells.Also,we performed Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis,correlation analysis and prognosis analysis on public databases.Results:MAT1 was involved in multiple pathways including normal physiology signaling and disease-related signaling.Furthermore,MAT1 positively correlated with the protein status of estrogen receptor and progesterone receptor,and was enriched in luminal-type and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-enriched breast cancer in comparison with basal-like subtype at both m RNA and protein levels.Correlation analysis revealed significant association between MAT1 m RNA amount and epithelial markers,mesenchymal markers,cancer stem cell markers,apoptosis markers,transcription markers and oncogenes.Consistently,the results of immunofluorescence stain indicated that MAT1 overexpression enhanced the protein abundance of epidermal growth factor receptor,vimentin,sex determining region Y-box 2 and sine oculis homeobox homolog 1.Importantly,Kaplan-Meier Plotter analysis reflected that MAT1 could serve as a prognostic biomarker predicting worse relapse-free survival and metastasis-free survival.Conclusions:MAT1 is correlated with molecular subtypes and is associated with unfavorable prognosis for breast cancer patients. | Hanxiao Xu Xianguang Bai Shengnan Yu Qian Liu Richard G Pestell Kongming Wu | 2018 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2018,30,3: | 2 |
| 17 | Temperature‑Arousing Self‑Powered Fire Warning E‑Textile Based on p-n Segment Coaxial Aerogel Fibers for Active Fire Protection in Firefighting Clothing显示文摘Firefighting protective clothing is a crucial protective equipment for firefighters to minimize skin burn and ensure safety firefighting operation and rescue mission.A recent increasing concern is to develop self-powered fire warning materials that can be incorporated into the firefighting clothing to achieve active fire protection for firefighters before the protective clothing catches fire on fireground.However,it is still a challenge to facilely design and manufacture thermoelectric(TE)textile(TET)-based fire warning electronics with dynamic surface conformability and breathability.Here,we develop an alternate coaxial wet-spinning strategy to continuously produce alternating p/n-type TE aerogel fibers involving n-type Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)MXene and p-type MXene/SWCNT-COOH as core materials,and tough aramid nanofiber as protective shell,which simultaneously ensure the flexibility and high-efficiency TE power generation.With such alternating p/n-type TE fibers,TET-based self-powered fire warning sensors with high mechanical stability and wearability are successfully fabricated through stitching the alternating p-n segment TE fibers into aramid fabric.The results indicate that TET-based fire warning electronics containing 50 p-n pairs produce the open-circuit voltage of 7.5 mV with a power density of 119.79 nW cm-2 at a temperature difference of 300℃.The output voltage signal is then calculated as corresponding surface temperature of firefighting clothing based on a linear relationship between TE voltage and temperature.The fire alarm response time and flame-retardant properties are further displayed.Such self-powered fire warning electronics are true textiles that offer breathability and compatibility with body movement,demonstrating their potential application in firefighting clothing. | Hualing He Yi Qin Zhenyu Zhu Qing Jiang Shengnan Ouyang Yuhang Wan Xueru Qu Jie Xu Zhicai Yu | 2023 | Nano-Micro Letters2023,15,12: | 1 |
