Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear. Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks. Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease, while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes. | MA Yan ZHU Dong Shan CHEN Ren Bo SHI Nan Nan LIU Si Hong FAN Yi Pin WU Gui Hui YANG Pu Ye BAI Jiang Feng CHEN Hong CHEN Li Ying FENG Qiao GUO Tuan Mao HOU Yong HU Gui Fen HU Xiao Mei HU Yun Hong HUANG Jin HUANG Qiu Hua HUANG Shao Zhen JI Liang JIN Hai Hao LEI Xiao LI Chun Yan LI Min Qing LI Qun Tang LI Xian Yong LIU Hong De LIU Jin Ping LIU Zhang MA Yu Ting MAO Ya MO Liu Fen NA Hui WANG Jing Wei SONG Fang Li SUN Sheng WANG Dong Ting WANG Ming Xuan WANG Xiao Yan WANG Yin Zhen WANG Yu Dong WU Wei WU Lan Ping XIAO Yan Hua XIE Hai Jun XU Hong Ming XU Shou Fang XUE Rui Xia YANG Chun YANG Kai Jun YUAN Sheng Li ZHANG Gong Qi ZHANG Jin Bo ZHANG Lin Song ZHAO Shu Sen ZHAO Wan Ying ZHENG Kai ZHOU Ying Chun ZHU Jun Teng ZHU Tian Qing ZHANG Hua Min WANG Yan Ping WANG Yong Yan 无 | 2020 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2020,33,12: | 8
The optimized preparation of HA/L-TiO2/D-TiO2 composite coating on porous titanium and its effect on the behavior osteoblasts显示文摘Various surface bioactivation technology has been confirmed to improve the osteogenic ability of porous titanium(pTi)implants effectively. In this study,a three-layered composite coating,i.e.outer layer of hydroxyapatite(HA),middle layer of loose titanium dioxide(L-TiO2)and inner layer of dense TiO2(D-TiO2),was fabricated on pTi by a combined processing procedure of pickling, alkali heat(AH),anodic oxidation(AO),electrochemical deposition(ED)and hydrothermal treatment(HT).After soaking in simulated body fluid for 48 h,the surface of the AHAOEDHT-treated pTi was completely covered by a homogeneous apatite layer.Using MC3T3-E1 pro-osteoblasts as cell model, the cell culture revealed that both the pTi without surface treatment and the AHAOEDHT sample could support the attachment, growth and proliferation of the cells.Compared to the pTi sample, the AHAOEDHT one induced higher expressions of osteogenesis-related genes in the cells, including alkaline phosphatase,Type I collagen, osteopontin, osteoclast inhibitor, osteocalcin and zinc finger structure transcription factor. As thus, besides the good corrosion resistance, the HA/L-TiO2/D-TiO2-coated pTi had good osteogenic activity, showing good potential in practical application for bone defect repair. | Xi Fu Xingyu Zhou Pin Liu Hewei Chen Zhanwen Xiao Bo Yuan Xiao Yang Xiangdong Zhu Kai Zhang Xingdong Zhang | 2020 | Regenerative Biomaterials2020,7,5: | 5
Comparison of Human Papillomavirus Detection and Genotyping with Four Different Prime Sets by PCR-Sequencing显示文摘Objective To assess and compare the Human Papillomavirus(HPV) detection efficiency and the potential clinical utility of PCR sequencing‐based technology. Methods Four HPV consensus primer sets(GP5+/6+,MGP,MY09/11,and PGMY09/11) were used in order to amplify a broad spectrum of HPV types for HPV infection in 325 cervical samples and the PCR products were sequenced afterwards for the HPV genotyping. Results The HPV‐positive rate was 75.4%,of which 35.5% harbored more than one HPV genotype.A total of 36 different genotypes was found, with HPV 16(24.1%) being the most prevalent, followed by HPV 58(13.3%) and HPV 52(9.6%).There were substantial to almost perfect agreements between different primer sets regarding HPV detection efficiency, with the kappa value varying from 0.751 to 0.925,MGP,and PGMY09/11 were the most effective in detecting multiple infections(P<0.001).With each of the primer sets,a board range of HPV types could be identified, though there were several differences for a few genotypes. Conclusion The substantial agreement between PCR‐sequencing and HC2 for the detection of high‐risk HPV(kappa=0.761) indicated that PCR‐sequencing is also suitable for routine HPV screening. | CAI Yu Pin YANG Yi ZHU Bao Li LI Yuan XIA Xiao Yu ZHANG Rui Fen XIANG Yang | 2013 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2013,26,1: | 4
Differentially Expressed microRNAs as Potential Markers for Vital Reaction of Burned Skin显示文摘The identification of antemortem burns and postmortem burns is essential in forensic practice. In this study, microRNA(miRNA)microarray analysis was conducted to identify differentially expressed miRNAs in the skin of an experimental burn model.Microarray analysis revealed 24 differentially expressed miRNAs in antemortem burned mice skin, with 19 miRNAs significantly upregulated and 5 downregulated.Based on the intersection predicted using three databases(Targetscan,microRNA.org,and PITA),293 potential miRNA targets were identified. These dysregulated miRNAs and their predicted targets were further analyzed using the Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes databases.Several functional categories and signaling pathways were enriched, including the“fc epsilon ri signaling pathway,”“endometrial cancer,”and“mTOR signaling pathway.”Expression patterns of 10 differentially expressed miRNAs were verified by reverse transcription‑quantitative polymerase chain reaction in mice skins. The results agreed with the results of microarray analysis. These findings suggest that differentially expressed miRNAs revealed by microarray are potential markers for forensic molecular diagnosis of antemortem burns. | Hao‑Pin Lyu Ming Cheng Jin‑Cen Liu Ming‑Yuan Ye Di Xu Jie‑Tao He Xiao‑Li Xie Qi Wang | 2018 | Journal of Forensic Science and Medicine2018,4,3: | 2

Functionalize d 3D-printe d porous titanium scaffold induces in situ vascularized bone regeneration by orchestrating bone microenvironment显示文摘Titanium(Ti)and its alloys have been extensively explored for treating load-bearing bone defects.How-ever,high-stress shielding, weak osteogenic activity, and insufficient vascularization remain key chal-lenges for the long-term clinical outcomes of Ti-based implants.Herein, inspired by structural and func-tional cues of bone regeneration,a silicon-doped nano-hydroxyapatite(nSiHA)/titanium dioxide(TiO_(2))composite coating with a hierarchical micro/nano-network structure is constructed on the surface of a 3D-printed porous Ti scaffold via a combined strategy of acid-alkali(AA)treatment and electrochemi-cal deposition technique, which not only endows the scaffold with excellent osteoinduction ability but can also effectively immobilize and release vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF).The results of the in vitro cell experiments show that the functionalized Ti scaffold significantly promotes osteogenesis in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)and angiogenesis in human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs)by activating the extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase(ERK)and HIF-1αsignaling pathways. After being implanted into a rat femoral condyle defect model, the functionalized Ti scaffold can induce in situ vascularized bone regeneration by orchestrating the two coupled processes of angio-genesis and osteogenesis. These findings indicate that the functionalized Ti scaffold has great potential in bone tissue regeneration and is a promising candidate for load-bearing bone defect repair. | Bo Yuan Pin Liu Rui Zhao Xiao Yang Zhanwen Xiao Kai Zhang Xiangdong Zhu Xingdong Zhang | 2023 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,22: | 0

Polycephalomycetaceae,a new family of clavicipitoid fungi segregates from Ophiocordycipitaceae显示文摘Clavicipitoid fungi comprise three families, namely Clavicipitaceae,Cordycipitaceae, and Ophiocordycipitaceae. They are found worldwide and are specialized pathogens of invertebrate, plant and fungal hosts.Over the last decade,morphology-and phylogeny-based studies on clavicipitoid fungi have increased. The latter have revealed that Polycephalomyces,Perennicordyceps and Pleurocordyceps consistently cluster together. These genera are currently considered as members of Ophiocordycipitaceae.Nonetheless, information with regard to their diversity and ecology remains sparse. To fill this gap,we collected 29 fresh specimens from insect and fungal substrates from tropical and subtropical evergreen forests in Thailand and southwestern China. We performed detailed morphological analyses and constructed photoplates for all isolated fungi. We used extensive taxon sampling and a dataset comprising internal transcribed spacer gene region(ITS),small subunit ribosomal RNA gene region(SSU),large subunit rRNA gene region(LSU),translation elongation factor 1-alpha gene region(TEF-1α),RNA polymerase II largest subunit gene region(RPB1)and RNA polymerase II second largest subunit(RPB2)to infer order-,family and genus-level phylogenetic trees.Based on these biphasic analyses,we segregate Polycephalomyces,Perennicordyceps, and Pleurocordyceps from Ophiocordycipitaceae and introduce the new family Polycephalomycetaceae to accomodate these three genera. The majority of species in this family have a vast range of insect and fungal hosts. The sexual morph of Polycephalomycetaceae has stromatic ascomata, long stipes, thick peridium, and cylindrical secondary spores. The asexual morph is characterized by colonies on the host surface or synnemata with stipes on the host, one or two types of phialides, and cylindrical to fusiform conidia. We expand the number of taxa in the new family by introducing seven new species(Polycephalomyces albiramus,Perennicordyceps lutea,Pleurocordyceps parvicapitata,Pleurocordyceps lanceolatus,Pleurocordyceps nutansis,Pleurocordyceps heilongtanensis,Pleurocordyceps vitellina),nine new hosts, and one new combination(Perennicordyceps elaphomyceticola). The results herein hint at a high level of diversity for Polycephalomycetaceae.Future investigations focusing on obtaining additional collections and specimens from different geographical areas would help to reveal not only the extent of the group’s diversity, but also resolve its deeper phylogenetic placement. | Yuan‑Pin Xiao Yuan Bing Wang Kevin D.Hyde Gentekaki Eleni Jing‑zu Sun Yu Yang Juan Meng Hong Yu Ting‑Chi Wen | 2023 | Fungal Diversity2023,,3: | 0
