3Comparative studies on histological and ultra-structure of the pituitary of different ploidy level fishes显示文摘The histological and ultra-structure of the pituitary in diploid red crucian carp(Carassius auratus red var.),triploid crucian carp and allotetraploid hybrids within and after the breeding season were comparatively studied.The result showed that there were six endocrine cell types in the pituitary of these three kinds of fishes,and there was an obvious difference in cell size among different ploidy level fishes.As for the same type of pituitary cells,the cell size was increased gradually with the in- creasing ploidy level.In the breeding season,the allotetraploid hybrids had higher proportion of go- nadotropin cells(GTH)than triploids,and the triploids had higher proportion of GTH than diploids.The results were related to the earlier sexual maturity of allotetraploid hybrids and sterility of triploid cru- cian carp.On the other hand,among the three kinds of fishes,the proportion of somatotropin(STH) cells in triploids crucian carp was the highest,whereas that in allotetraploid hybrids was the lowest. 4The cloning of Dmc1 cDNAs and a comparative study of its expression in different ploidy cyprinid fishes显示文摘Dmc1 (disrupted meiotic cDNA) is a functionally specific gene, which was firstly discovered in yeast and then found to encode a protein required for homologous chromosome synapsis during the process of meiosis. In this investigation, we cloned the partial cDNAs of Dmc1 of diploid red crucian carp, Japanese crucian carp, common carp, triploid crucian carp and allotetraploid hybrids by using a pair of degenerate primers based on the conservative sequence of amino acids of the DMC1 protein in yeast, mouse and human. The full length cDNAs were then obtained by rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE). Our data showed that the full length cDNAs of Dmc1 in the three diploid fishes are all 1375 bp long, while it is 1383 bp long in triploids and 1379 bp long in allotetraploids. And despite of the variation in length, all the cDNAs encode a protein of 342 amino acids. A high homology of 97.3% of the DMC1 protein can be drawn by comparing the amino acid sequences in the three diploids, which is also of 86%, 86% and 95% similarity to human, mouse and zebrafish, respectively. A comparative study of the expression pattern of Dmc1 was carried out by RT-PCR using specific primers against the same se-quences of coding regions in different ploidy cyprinid fishes, from which it was showed that Dmc1 was expressed only in gonads of these five kinds of fishes. The expression pattern of Dmc1 in both ovaries and testes from different ploidy fishes within breeding season was also studied by Real-time PCR, and the results showed that the expression of this gene was greatly different among the three different ploidy fishes, which was the highest of triploid and lowest of allotetraploids. The histological sections data showed matured gonads of both diploid red crucian carp and allotetraploids in breeding season, although the latter demonstrated a higher maturation, and no gonadal maturation could be observed in triploids. In conclusion, we suggest that Dmc1 is specifically expressed in the period of meiosis in all the ploidy cyprinid fishes and directly related with the development of gonad in a manner of ploidy-independent way. 7The adult human testis transcriptional cell atlas显示文摘Human adult spermatogenesis balances spermatogonial stem cell (SSC) self-renewal and differentiation,alongside complex germ cell-niche interactions,to ensure long-term fertility and faithful genome propagation. Here,we performed single-cell RNA sequencing of -6500 testicular cells from young adults. We found five niche/somatic cell types (Leydig,myoid,Sertoli,endothelial,macrophage),and observed germline-niche interactions and key human-mouse differences. Spermatogenesis,including meiosis,was reconstructed computationally,revealing sequential coding,non-coding,and repeat-element transcriptional signatures. Interestingly,we identified five discrete transcriptional/developmental spermatogonial states,including a novel early SSC state,termed State 0. Epigenetic features and nascent transcription analyses suggested developmental plasticity within spermatogonial States. To understand the or丨gin of State 0,we profiled testicular cells from infants,and identified distinct similarities between adult State 0 and infant SSCs. 10Design and demonstration of a next-generation air quality attainment assessment system for PM_(2.5)and O_3显示文摘Due to the increasingly stringent standards, it is important to assess whether the proposed emission reduction will result in ambient concentrations that meet the standards. The Software for Model Attainment Test—Community Edition(SMAT-CE) is developed for demonstrating attainment of air quality standards of O3 and PM2.5. SMAT-CE improves computational efficiency and provides a number of advanced visualization and analytical functionalities on an integrated GIS platform. SMAT-CE incorporates historical measurements of air quality parameters and simulated air pollutant concentrations under a number of emission inventory scenarios to project the level of compliance to air quality standards in a targeted future year. 14Early initiation renal replacement therapy for fluid management to reduce central venous pressure is more conducive to renal function recovery in patients with acute kidney injury显示文摘Background:Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a serious complication in critically ill patients with septic shock treated in the intensive care unit. Renal replacement therapy (RRT) is a treatment for severe AKI;however, the time of initiation of RRT and factors that affect the recovery of kidney function remains unclear. This study was to explore whether early initiation of RRT treatment for fluid management to reduce central venous pressure (CVP) can help to improve patients5 kidney function recovery. Methods: A retrospective analysis of septic patients who had received RRT treatment was conducted. Patients received RRT either within 12 h after they met the diagnostic criteria of renal failure (early initiation) or after a delay of 48 h if renal recovery had not occurred (delayed initiation). Parameters such as patients5 renal function recovery at discharge, fluid balance, and levels of CVP were assessed. Results: A total of 141 patients were eligible for enrolment: 40.4% of the patients were in the early initiation group (57 of 141 patients), and 59.6% were in the delayed initiation group (84 of 141 patients). There were no significant differences in the characteristics at baseline between the two groups, and there were no differences in 28-day mortality between the two groups (χ^2 = 2.142, P = 0.143);however, there was a significant difference in the recovery rate of renal function between the two groups at discharge (χ^2 = 4.730, P < 0.001). More importantly, early initiation of RRT treatment and dehydration to reduce CVP are more conducive to the recovery of renal function in patients with AKI. 16Development and case study of a science-based software platform to support policy making on air quality显示文摘This article describes the development and implementations of a novel software platform that supports real-time, science-based policy making on air quality through a user-friendly interface. The software, RSM-VAT, uses a response surface modeling(RSM) methodology and serves as a visualization and analysis tool(VAT) for three-dimensional air quality data obtained by atmospheric models. The software features a number of powerful and intuitive data visualization functions for illustrating the complex nonlinear relationship between emission reductions and air quality benefits. 18A case study of development and application of a streamlined control and response modeling system for PM_(2.5)attainment assessment in China显示文摘This article describes the development and application of a streamlined air control and response modeling system with a novel response surface modeling-linear coupled fitting method and a new module to provide streamlined model data for PM_(2.5) attainment assessment in China.This method is capable of significantly reducing the dimensions required to establish a response surface model,as well as capturing more realistic response of PM_(2.5) to emission changes with a limited number of model simulations.The newly developed module establishes a data link between the system and the Software for Model Attainment Test—Community Edition(SMAT-CE),and has the ability to rapidly provide model responses to emission control scenarios for SMAT-CE using a simple interface.The performance of this streamlined system is demonstrated through a case study of the Yangtze River Delta(YRD) in China.Our results show that this system is capable of reproducing the Community Multi-Scale Air Quality(CMAQ) model simulation results with maximum mean normalized error < 3.5%.It is also demonstrated that primary emissions make a major contribution to ambient levels of PM_(2.5) in January and August(e.g.,more than50%contributed by primary emissions in Shanghai),and Shanghai needs to have regional emission control both locally and in its neighboring provinces to meet China's annual PM_(2.5)National Ambient Air Quality Standard.The streamlined system provides a real-time control/response assessment to identify the contributions of major emission sources to ambient PM_(2.5)(and potentially O_3 as well) and streamline air quality data for SMAT-CE to perform attainment assessments.Shicheng Long Yun Zhu Carey Jang Che-Jen Lin Shuxiao Wang Bin Zhao Jian Gao Shuang Deng Junping Xie Xuezhen Qiu 2016Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,3:9
19Study of Static Adsorption Capacity of ACF for Xenon at 201 K显示文摘The static adsorption performances of a series of active carbon fiber(ACF)for xenon at 201 K were measured with a model ASAP2010M specific surface area and aperture distribution instrument by changing the working gas of instrument from N 2 to Xenon. 20On-chip silicon photonic signaling and processing: a review显示文摘The arrival of the big data era has driven the rapid development of high-speed optical signaling and processing, ranging from long-haul optical communication links to short-reach data centers and highperformance computing, and even micro-/nano-scale inter-chip and intra-chip optical interconnects.On-chip photonic signaling is essential for optical data transmission, especially for chip-scale optical interconnects, while on-chip photonic processing is a critical technology for optical data manipulation or processing, especially at the network nodes to facilitate ultracompact data management with low power consumption. In this paper, we review recent research progress in on-chip photonic signaling and processing on silicon photonics platforms. Firstly, basic key devices (lasers, modulators, detectors)are introduced. Secondly, for on-chip photonic signaling, we present recent works on on-chip data transmission of advanced multi-level modulation signals using various silicon photonic integrated devices(microring, slot waveguide, hybrid plasmonic waveguide, subwavelength grating slot waveguide).Thirdly, for on-chip photonic processing, we summarize recent works on on-chip data processing of advanced multi-level modulation signals exploiting linear and nonlinear effects in different kinds of silicon photonic integrated devices (strip waveguide, directional coupler, 2D grating coupler, microring,silicon-organic hybrid slot waveguide). Various photonic processing functions are demonstrated, such as photonic switch, filtering, polarization/wavelength/mode (de)multiplexing, wavelength conversion,signal regeneration, optical logic and computing. Additionally, we also introduce extended silicon+photonics and show recent works on on-chip graphene-silicon photonic signal processing. The advances in on-chip silicon photonic signaling and processing with favorable performance pave the way to integrate complete optical communication systems on a monolithic chip and integrate silicon photonics and silicon nanoelectronics on a chip.
