2Potential and challenges of tannins as an alternative to in-feed antibiotics for farm animal production显示文摘Naturally occurring plant compounds including tannins, saponins and essential oils are extensively assessed as natural alternatives to in-feed antibiotics.Tannins are a group of polyphenolic compounds that are widely present in plant region and possess various biological activities including antimicrobial,anti-parasitic, anti-viral, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulation, etc.Therefore, tannins are the major research subject in developing natural alternative to in-feed antibiotics.Strong protein affinity is the well-recognized property of plant tannins, which has successfully been applied to ruminant nutrition to decrease protein degradation in the rumen, and thereby improve protein utilization and animal production efficiency.Incorporations of tannin-containing forage in ruminant diets to control animal pasture bloat, intestinal parasite and pathogenic bacteria load are another 3 important applications of tannins in ruminant animals.Tannins have traditionally been regarded as 'anti-nutritional factor' for monogastric animals and poultry, but recent researches have revealed some of them, when applied in appropriate manner, improved intestinal microbial ecosystem, enhanced gut health and hence increased productive performance.The applicability of plant tannins as an alternative to in-feed antibiotics depends on many factors that contribute to the great variability in their observed efficacies.Qianqian Huang Xiuli Liu Guoqi Zhao Tianming Hu Yuxi Wang 2018Animal Nutrition2018,,2:54

7The precise regulation of different COR genes by individual CBF transcription factors in Arabidopsis thaliana显示文摘The transcription factors CBF1/2/3 are reported to play a dominant role in the cold responsive network of Arabidopsis by directly regulating the expression levels of cold responsive(COR) genes.In this study,we obtained CRISPR/Cas9-mediated loss-of-function mutants of cbf1$3.Over 3,000 COR genes identified by RNA-seq analysis showed a slight but significant change in their expression levels in the mutants compared to the wildtype plants after being treated at 4 °C for 12 h.The C-repeat(CRT) motif(50-CCGAC-30) was enriched in promoters of genes that were up-regulated by CBF2 and CBF3 but not in promoters of genes up-regulated by CBF1.These data suggest that CBF2 and CBF3 play a more important role in directing the cold response by regulating different sets of downstream COR genes.More than 2/3 of COR genes were co-regulated by two or three CBFs and were involved mainly in cellular signal transduction and metabolic processes;less than 1/3 of the genes were regulated by one CBF,and those genes up-regulated were enriched in cold-related abiotic stress responses.Our results indicate that CBFs play an important role in the trade-off between cold tolerance and plant growth through the precise regulation of COR genes in the complicated transcriptional network.Yihao Shi Jiaying Huang Tianshu Sun Xuefei Wang Chenqi Zhu Yuxi Ai Hongya Gu 2017Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2017,59,2:7
8Influence of post-heat treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Al-Cu-Mg-Zr alloy manufactured by selective laser melting显示文摘The properties of modified conventional wrought aluminum alloys cannot be significantly enhanced by normal post-heat treatment in that the fine-grained strengthening,arising from high cooling rate in SLM,is underutilized.In this work,compared with the normal T6 heat treatment,a novel simple direct aging regime was proposed to maintain the grain-boundary strengthening and to utilize the precipitation strengthening of secondary AlZr.It was found that a heterogeneous grain structure,which consisted of ultrafine equiaxed(~0.82μm)and columnar(~1.80μm)grains at the bottom and top of molten pool,respectively,was formed in the SLM processed sample.After direct aging(DA),the ultrafine grains were maintained and a mass of spherical coherent L1-AlZr particles with a mean radius of approximately1.15 nm was precipitated.In contrast,after solution treatment and aging(STA),a significant grain coarsening occurred in the equiaxed grain region.Meanwhile,the coarsening L1-AlZr particles,nano-sized S phases and GPB zones were detected in the STA sample.This subsequently induced that the yield strength of the DA sample(~435 MPa)was higher than that of the STA sample(~402 MPa)owing to the grain boundary strengthening and precipitation strengthening.Both the STA and DA samples exhibited a higher strength than that of the other SLMed Al-Cu-Mg series alloys;this was comparable to that of the wrought AA2024-T6 alloy(~393 MPa).Both the STA and DA samples exhibited a higher strength than that of the other SLMed Al-Cu-Mg series alloys;this was comparable to that of the wrought AA2024-T6alloy(~393 MPa).Yanfang Wang Xin Lin Nan Kang Zihong Wang Yuxi Liu Weidong Huang 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,16:5

10Reduced graphene oxide/silicon nanowire hetero- structures with enhanced photoactivity and superior photoelectrochemical stability显示文摘Silicon nanowires (SiNWs) have been widely studied as light harvesting antennas in photocatalysts due to their ability to absorb broad-spectrum solar radiation, but they are typically limited by poor photoelectrochemical stability. Here, we report the synthesis of reduced graphene oxide-SiNW (rGO-SiNW) heterostructures to achieve greatly improved photocatalytic activity and stability. The SiNWs were synthesized through a metal-assisted electroless etching process and functionalized with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) flakes through a chemical absorption process. Here, the rGO not only functions as a physical protection layer to isolate the SiNWs from the harsh electrochemical environment but also serves as a charge mediator to facilitate the charge separation and transport processes. Furthermore, the rGO may also function as a redox catalyst to ensure efficient utilization of photo-carriers for the desired chemical reactions. Photocatalytic dye degradation studies show that the photoactivity of the heterostructures can be significantly enhanced with an initial activation process and maintained without apparent decay over repeated reaction cycles. Electrochemical and photo- electrochemical studies indicate that the enhanced photoactivity and photostability can be attributed to the more efficient separation of photoexcited charge carriers in SiNWs and the reduced self-oxidation of the surface of the SiNWs during the photocatalytic dye degradation process. 17Waveform design for radar and extended target in the environment of electronic warfare显示文摘Transmit waveform optimization is critical to radar system performance. There have been a fruit of achievements about waveform design in recent years. However, most of the existing methods are based on the assumption that radar is smart and the target is dumb, which is not always reasonable in the modern electronic warfare. This paper focuses on the waveform design for radar and the extended target in the environment of electronic warfare. Three different countermeasure models between smart radar and dumb target, smart target and dumb radar, smart radar and smart target are proposed. Taking the signal-to-interferenceplus-noise ratio(SINR) as the metric, optimized waveforms for the first two scenarios are achieved by the general water-filling method in the presence of clutter. For the last case, the equilibrium between smart radar and smart target in the presence of clutter is given mathematically and the optimized solution is achieved through a novel two-step water-filling method on the basis of minmax theory. 19A virus-induced conformational switch of STAT1-STAT2 dimers boosts antiviral defenses显示文摘Type I interferons(IFN-)protect us from viral infections.Signal transducer and activator of transcription 2(STAT2)is a key component of interferon-stimulated gene factor 3(ISGF3),which drives gene expression in response to IFN-I.Using electron microscopy,we found that,in naive cells,U-STAT2,lacking the activating tyrosine phosphorylation,forms a heterodimer with U-STAT1 in an inactive,anti-parallel conformation.A novel phosphorylation of STAT2 on T404 promotes IFN-I signaling by disrupting the U-STAT1-U-STAT2 dimer,facilitating the tyrosine phosphorylation of STATs 1 and 2 and enhancing the DNA-binding ability of ISGF3.IKK-ε,activated by virus infection,phosphorylates T404 directly.Mice with a T-A mutation at the corresponding residue(T403)are highly susceptible to virus infections.We conclude that T404 phosphorylation drives a critical conformational switch that,by boosting the response to IFN-I in infected cells,enables a swift and efficient antiviral defense.Yuxin Wang Qiaoling Song Wei Huang Yuxi Lin Xin Wang Chenyao Wang Belinda Willard Chenyang Zhao Jing Nan Elise Holvey-Bates Zhuoya Wang Derek Taylor Jinbo Yang George RStark 2021Cell Research2021,31,2:1
