1Cotton GhPOX1 encoding plant class Ⅲ peroxidase may be responsible for the high level of reactive oxygen species production that is related to cotton fiber elongation显示文摘The accumulation of reactive oxygen species(ROS) is involved in plant cell development.In plant,class Ⅲ peroxidases are heme-containing enzymes encoded by a large multi-gene family participated in the release or consumption of ROS.The specific function of each member of the family is still elusive.Here,we showed that ROS was significantly generated during cotton fiber initiation and elongation,whereas,application of NADPH oxidase inhibitor diphenyleneiodonium(DPI) and peroxidase inhibitor salicylhydroxamic acid(SHAM) to the wild-type cotton ovule culture significantly suppressed fiber growth,respectively.Their inhibitory effects were caused by the reduction of superoxide radical(O2-).Ten GhPOX genes(cDNAs) encoding cotton class Ⅲ peroxidases were isolated,among them eight GhPOX genes were reported for the first time.Microarray analyses indicated that GhPOX1 was the mostly predomi-nantly expressed in fast-elongating cotton fiber cells.Real-time quantitative PCR analysis revealed the transcript level of GhPOX1 was over 400-fold higher in growing fiber cells than in ovules,flowers,roots,stems and leaves.To reveal the role of GhPOX1 in plant devel-opment,its Arabidopsis orthologue atpox13 mutant was demonstrated to be defective in branch root development.Taken together,the data suggest that GhPOX1 plays an important role during fiber cell elongation possibly by mediating production of reactive oxygen spe-cies.Wenqian Mei Yongmei Qin Wenqiang Song Jun Li Yuxian Zhu 2009Journal of Genetics and Genomics2009,36,3:19

4Reproductive tissue-specific translatome of a rice thermo-sensitive genic male sterile line显示文摘Translational regulation,especially tissue-or cell type-specific gene regulation,plays essential roles in plant growth and development.Thermo-sensitive genic male sterile(TGMS)lines have been widely used for hybrid breeding in rice(Oryza sativa).However,little is known about translational regulation during reproductive stage in TGMS rice.Here,we use translating ribosome affinity purification(TRAP)combined with RNA sequencing to investigate the reproductive tissue-specific translatome of TGMS rice expressing FLAG-tagged ribosomal protein L18(RPL18)from the germline-specific promoter MEIOSIS ARRESTED AT LEPTOTENE1(MEL1).Differentially expressed genes at the transcriptional and translational levels are enriched in pollen and anther-related formation and development processes.These contain a number of genes reported to be involved in tapetum programmed cell death(PCD)and lipid metabolism during pollen development and anther dehiscence in rice,including several encoding transcription factors and key enzymes,as well as several long non-coding RNAs(lnc RNAs)that potentially affect tapetum and pollenrelated genes in male sterility.This study represents the comprehensive reproductive tissue-specific characterization of the translatome in TGMS rice.These results contribute to our understanding of the molecular basis of sterility in TGMS rice and will facilitate further genetic manipulation of TGMS rice in two-line breeding systems.Wei Liu Jing Sun Ji Li Chunyan Liu Fuyan Si Bin Yan Zhen Wang Xianwei Song Yuanzhu Yang Yuxian Zhu Xiaofeng Cao 2022Journal of Genetics and Genomics2022,49,7:1
5Rhesus monkeys exhibiting spontaneous ritualistic behaviors resembling obsessive-compulsive disorder显示文摘Obsessive-compulsive disorder(OCD)is a chronic and debilitating psychiatric disorder that affects∼2%–3%of the population globally.Studying spontaneous OCD-like behaviors in non-human primates may improve our understanding of the disorder.In large rhesus monkey colonies,we found 10 monkeys spontaneously exhibiting persistent sequential motor behaviors(SMBs)in individual-specific sequences that were repetitive,time-consuming and stable over prolonged periods.Genetic analysis revealed severely damaging mutations in genes associated with OCD risk in humans.Brain imaging showed that monkeys with SMBs had larger gray matter(GM)volumes in the left caudate nucleus and lower fractional anisotropy of the corpus callosum.The GM volume of the left caudate nucleus correlated positively with the daily duration of SMBs.Notably,exposure to a stressor(human presence)significantly increased SMBs.In addition,fluoxetine,a serotonergic medication commonly used for OCD,decreased SMBs in these monkeys.These findings provide a novel foundation for developing better understanding and treatment of OCD.Rongwei Zhai Geya Tong Zheqin Li Weichen Song Yang Hu Sha Xu Qiqi Wei Xiaocheng Zhang Yi Li Bingbing Liao Chenyu Yuan Yinqing Fan Ge Song Yinyin Ouyang Wenxuan Zhang Yaqiu Tang Minghui Jin Yuxian Zhang He Li Zhi Yang Guan Ning Lin Dan JStein Zhi-Qi Xiong Zhen Wang 2023National Science Review2023,10,11:1
6Preparation of Ultrafine Tungsten Powder by Sol-Gel Method显示文摘Sol-gel method was employed for the preparation of nanoscale tungsten powder.The effects of different preparation conditions on particle size were discussed and the optimum preparation condition was found. The products were characterized by X-ray diffraction,scan electron microscopy and so on.The results show that the intermediate is monoclinic WO_3,its particle shape is approximately spherical,and the particle size distribution is narrow.The average particle size is about 60 nm.After deoxidization,WO_3 turns into cubic tungsten powder with small particle size(average particle size about 120 nm)and narrow size distribution.Yuxian HAN Tai QIU Tao SONG 2008Journal of Materials Science & Technology2008,24,5:1
7The relationship between treatment-induced hypertension and efficacy of anlotinib in recurrent or metastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma显示文摘Objective:In this post-hoc analysis,we evaluated anlotinib treatment-induced hypertension as a potential predictive factor of efficacy in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)patients.Methods:A total of 109 patients enrolled in the anlotinib group in a phase 2 trial were included.The tumor response was assessed by computed tomography at week 3,week 6,and then every 6 weeks until progressive disease was observed.The primary endpoint of the study was progression free survival(PFS).The secondary endpoints included overall survival(OS)and objective response rate(ORR).Results:In all patients,the median PFS was 3.02 months[95%confidence interval(CI):2.63–3.65 months]and the OS was 6.11 months(95%CI:4.40–7.79 months).The ORR was 7.34%(95%CI:3.22%–13.95%).A total of 59(54%)patients were diagnosed with treatment-induced hypertension(Group A),and the remaining patients(n=50,46%)were in Group B.Baseline prognostic factors were similar between the 2 groups.Patients in Group A had a longer PFS and OS and higher ORR.When stratifying patients using a previously known history of hypertension,treatment-induced hypertension was a predictor only for patients without previous hypertension,who had longer PFS[hazard ratio(HR):0.40,95%CI:0.24–0.68]and OS(HR:0.37,95%CI:0.21–0.67).Conclusions:We showed,for the first time,a correlation between treatment-induced hypertension and better prognoses in recurrent or metastatic ESCC patients treated with anlotinib,without a previously known history of hypertension.Treatment-induced hypertension may be a simple and low cost predictor for anlotinib antitumor efficacy in these patients,which may also reflect the intended target inhibition.Yan Song Juxiang Xiao Wentao Fang Ping Lu Qingxia Fan Yongqian Shu Jifeng Feng Shu Zhang Yi Ba Yang Zhao Ying Liu Chunmei Bai Yuxian Bai Yong Tang Jie He Jing Huang 2021Cancer Biology & Medicine2021,18,2:1

10Decrement of catalase mRNA level after salicylic acid treatment显示文摘Using the barley catalase cDNA as a probe, the effects of salicylic acid (SA) on catalase activity and gene expression have bene studied. The data indicated that higher than 3 0 mmol/L SA inhibited catalase activity to a large extent and Northern blot analysis demonstrated that the decrease in catalase activity coincided with a decrease in its mRNA level. 11EVA2.0:Investigating Open-domain Chinese Dialogue Systems with Large-scale Pre-training显示文摘Large-scale pre-training has shown remarkable performance in building open-domain dialogue systems.However,previous works mainly focus on showing and evaluating the conversational performance of the released dialogue model,ignoring the discussion of some key factors towards a powerful human-like chatbot,especially in Chinese scenarios.In this paper,we conduct extensive experiments to investigate these under-explored factors,including data quality control,model architecture designs,training approaches,and decoding strategies.We propose EVA2.0,a large-scale pre-trained open-domain Chinese dialogue model with 2.8 billion parameters,and will make our models and codes publicly available.Automatic and human evaluations show that EVA2.0 significantly outperforms other open-source counterparts.We also discuss the limitations of this work by presenting some failure cases and pose some future research directions on large-scale Chinese open-domain dialogue systems.Yuxian Gu Jiaxin Wen Hao Sun Yi Song Pei Ke Chujie Zheng Zheng Zhang Jianzhu Yao Lei Liu Xiaoyan Zhu Minlie Huang 2023Machine Intelligence Research2023,20,2:0
