| 1 | Human Gut Microbiota and Gastrointestinal Cancer显示文摘Human gut microbiota play an essential role in both healthy and diseased states of humans.In the past decade,the interactions between microorganisms and tumors have attracted much attention in the efforts to understand various features of the complex microbial communities,as well as the possible mechanisms through which the microbiota are involved in cancer prevention,carcinogenesis,and anti-cancer therapy.A large number of studies have indicated that microbial dysbiosis contributes to cancer susceptibility via multiple pathways.Further studies have suggested that the microbiota and their associated metabolites are not only closely related to carcinogenesis by inducing in?ammation and immune dysregulation,which lead to genetic instability,but also interfere with the pharmacodynamics of anticancer agents.In this article,we mainly reviewed the in?uence of gut microbiota on cancers in the gastrointestinal(GI)tract(including esophageal,gastric,colorectal,liver,and pancreatic cancers)and the regulation of microbiota by diet,prebiotics,probiotics,synbiotics,antibiotics,or the Traditional Chinese Medicine.We also proposed some new strategies in the prevention and treatment of GI cancers that could be explored in the future.We hope that this review could provide a comprehensive overview of the studies on the interactions between the gut microbiota and GI cancers,which are likely to yield translational opportunities to reduce cancer morbidity and mortality by improving prevention,diagnosis,and treatment. | Changting Meng Chunmei Bai Thomas D. | 2 | Efficacy and safety of a novel anti-HER2 therapeutic antibody RC48 in patients with HER2-overexpressing,locally advanced or metastatic gastric or gastroesophageal junction cancer:a single-arm phase II study显示文摘Background:Current treatment options for human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2)-overexpressing gastric cancer at third-line have shown limited clinical benefit.Further,there is no specific treatment for HER2 immunohistochemistry(IHC)2+and fluorescence in-situ hybridization-negative patients.Here,we report the efficacy and safety of a novel anti-HER2 antibody RC48 for patients with HER2-overexpressing,advanced gastric or gastroesophageal junction cancer.Methods:Patients with HER2-overexpressing(IHC 2+or 3+),locally advanced or metastatic gastric or gastroesophageal junction cancer who were under at least second-line therapy were eligible and received RC482.5 mg/kg alone every 2 weeks.The primary endpoint was the objective response rate(ORR)assessed by an independent review committee.Secondary endpoints included progressionfree survival(PFS),overall survival(OS),duration of response,time to progression,disease control rate,and safety.Results:Of 179 patients screened,125 were eligible and received RC48 treatment.The ORR was 24.8%(95%confidence interval[CI]:17.5%-33.3%).The median PFS and OS were 4.1 months(95%CI:3.7-4.9 months)and 7.9 months(95%CI:6.7-9.9 months),respectively.The most frequently reported adverse events were decreased white blood cell count(53.6%),asthenia(53.6%),hair loss(53.6%),decreased neutrophil count(52.0%),anemia(49.6%),and increased aspartate aminotransferase level(43.2%).Serious adverse events(SAEs)occurred in 45(36.0%)patients,and RC48-related SAEs were mainly decreased neutrophil count(3.2%).Seven patients had adverse events that led to death were not RC48-related.Conclusions:RC48 showed promising activity with manageable safety,suggesting potential application in patients with HER2-overexpressing,advanced gastric or gastroesophageal junction cancer who have previously received at least two lines of chemotherapy. | Zhi Peng Tianshu Liu Jia Wei Airong Wang Yifu He Liuzhong Yang Xizhi Zhang Nanfeng Fan Suxia Luo Zhen Li Kangsheng Gu Jianwei Lu Jianming Xu Qingxia Fan Ruihua Xu Liangming Zhang Enxiao Li Yuping Sun Guohua Yu Chunmei Bai Yong Liu Jiangzheng Zeng Jieer Ying Xinjun Liang Nong Xu Chao Gao Yongqian Shu Dong Ma Guanghai Dai Shengmian Li Ting Deng Yuehong Cui Jianmin Fang Yi Ba Lin Shen | 2021 | Cancer Communications2021,41,11: | 29 |
| 3 | Characteristics of paleoflood deposits archived in unit T0403 of Yuxi Site in the Three Gorges reservoir areas,China显示文摘Based on the detailed analyses,multi-proxies such as AMS 14 C dating,grain size,component and morphology of heavy minerals,micromorphology of zircon,magnetic susceptibility,Rb/Sr and Hg content are used to research the paleoflood sediments archived in the Yuxi Site.The research indicates that, since 7.6 kaBP,at least 16 times of paleoflood with water level above Wusong Elevation 147.024 m(a.s.l.) left deposits in the Neolithic layers of unit T0403 from the Yuxi Site.The results are induced from the following aspects:(1)The plaeoflood sediments take on great similarities with modern flood sediments in the Yuxi Site and Zhongba Site in probability cumulative curves which mainly show a pattern of 3 segments in fluvial pattern.(2)There is some resemblance between the heavy mineral components and the zircon shape characteristics of paleoflood deposits and those of modern flood deposits.(3) Magnetic susceptibility values(40.44―70.10SI)are lower than those of sediments from cultural layers (59.59―188.68SI).(4)Hg values(290.71―742.51 ng/g)are lower than those of sediments from cultural layers(344.16―10518.17 ng/g).(5)Rb/Sr values are higher than those of sediments from cultural layers, while those of the 4th,5th,6th,7th,8th cultural layers are high,which shows that they are inundated by paleoflood.The reason for many flood deposits existing is related to the site situated on the first terrace where the Yuxi River joins with the Yangtze River.As there are some similarities between the plaeoflood sediments and those of the Zhongba Site,it is feasible to confirm the existence of paleoflood sediments based on the above points. | ZHU Cheng MA ChunMei XU WeiFeng BAI JiuJiang ZHENG ChaoGui ZHU GuangYao WANG HuiLin CHEN Ye LU XueFeng | 2008 | Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,S1: | 16 |
| 4 | Emission factors of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from domestic coal combustion in China显示文摘Domestic coal stove is widely used in China, especially for countryside during heating period of winter, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) are important in flue gas of the stove. By using dilution tunnel system, samples of both gaseous and particulate phases from domestic coal combustion were collected and 18 PAH species were analyzed by GC-MS. The average emission factors of total 18 PAH species was 171.73 mg/kg, ranging from 140.75 to 229.11 mg/kg for bituminous coals, while was 93.98 mg/kg, ranging from 58.48 to 129.47 mg/kg for anthracite coals. PAHs in gaseous phases occupied 95% of the total of PAHs emission of coal combustion. In particulate phase, 3-ring and 4-ring PAHs were the main components, accounting for 80% of the total particulate PAHs. The total toxicity potency evaluated by benzo[a]pyrene-equivalent carcinogenic power, sum of 7 carcinogenic PAH components and 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzodioxin had a similar tendency. And as a result, the toxic potential of bituminous coal was higher than that of anthracite coal. | 5 | Emission factors, ozone and secondary organic aerosol formation potential of volatile organic compounds emitted from industrial biomass boilers显示文摘To evaluate the potential benefits of biomass use for air pollution control, this paper identified and quantified the emissions of major reactive organic compounds anticipated from biomass-fired industrial boilers. Wood pellets(WP) and straw pellets(SP) were burned to determine the volatile organic compound emission profiles for each biomass-boiler combination. More than 100 types of volatile organic compounds(VOCs) were measured from the two biomass boilers. The measured VOC species included alkanes, alkenes and acetylenes, aromatics, halocarbons and carbonyls. A single coal-fired boiler(CB) was also studied to provide a basis for comparison. Biomass boiler 1(BB1) emitted relatively high proportions of alkanes(28.9%–38.1% by mass) and alkenes and acetylenes(23.4%–40.8%),while biomass boiler 2(BB2) emitted relatively high proportions of aromatics(27.9%–29.2%)and oxygenated VOCs(33.0%–44.8%). The total VOC(TVOC) emission factors from BB1(128.59–146.16 mg/kg) were higher than those from BB2(41.26–85.29 mg/kg). The total ozone formation potential(OFP) ranged from 6.26 to 81.75 mg/m^3 with an average of 33.66 mg/m^3 for the two biomass boilers. The total secondary organic aerosol potential(SOAP) ranged from 61.56 to 211.67 mg/m^3 with an average of 142.27 mg/m^3 for the two biomass boilers.The emission factors(EFs) of TVOCs from biomass boilers in this study were similar to those for industrial coal-fired boilers with the same thermal power. | 6 | Transcriptomics and metabolomics analyses provide insights into postharvest ripening and senescence of tomato fruit under low temperature显示文摘Tomato is one of the most important vegetable crops in the world and is a model plant used to study the ripening of climacteric fleshy fruit.During the ripening process of tomato fruit,flavor and aroma metabolites,color,texture and plant hormones undergo significant changes.However,low temperatures delayed the ripening process of tomato fruit,inhibiting flavor compounds and ethylene production.Metabolomics and transcriptomics analyses of tomato fruit stored under low temperature(LT,5°C)and room temperature(RT,25°C)were carried out to investigate the effects of storage temperature on the physiological changes in tomato fruit after harvest.The results of transcriptomics changes revealed that the differentially expressed genes(DEGs)involved in tomato fruit ripening,including several kinds of transcription factors(TFs)(TCP,WRKY,MYB and bZIP),enzymes involved in cell wall metabolism[beta-galactosidase(β-GAL),pectinesterase(PE)and pectate lyase(PL),cellulose and cellulose synthase(CESA)],enzymes associated with fruit flavor and aroma[acetyltransferase(AT),malic enzyme(ME),lipoxygenase(LOX),aldehyde dehydrogenase(ALDH),alcohol dehydrogenase(ADH)and hexokinase(HK)],genes associated with heat stress protein 70 and genes involved in the production of plant hormones such as Ethylene responsive factor 1(ERF1),Auxin/indoleacetic acids protein(AUX/IAA),gibberellin regulated protein.Based on the above results,we constructed a regulatory network model of the effects of different temperatures during the fruit ripening process.According to the analysis of the metabolomics results,it was found that the contents of many metabolites in tomato fruit were greatly affected by storage temperature,including,organic acids(L-tartaric acid,a-hydroxyisobutyric acid and 4-acetamidobutyric acid),sugars(melezitose,beta-Dlactose,D-sedoheptulose 7-phosphate,2-deoxyribose 1-phosphate and raffinose)and phenols(coniferin,curcumin and feruloylputrescine).This study revealed the effects of storage temperature on postharvest tomato fruit and provided a basis for further understanding of the molecular biology and biochemistry of fruit ripening. | Chunmei Bai Caie Wu Lili Ma Anzhen Fu Yanyan Zheng Jiawei Han Changbao Li Shuzhi Yuan Shufang Zheng Lipu Gao Xinhua Zhang Qing Wang Demei Meng Jinhua Zuo | 2023 | Horticultural Plant Journal2023,9,1: | 3 |
| 7 | Interactive response of photosynthetic characteristics in Haloxylon ammodendron and Hedysarum scoparium exposed to soil water and air vapor pressure deficits显示文摘C4 plants possess better drought tolerance than C3 plants. However, Hedysarum scoparium, a C3 species, is dominant and widely distributed in the desert areas of northwestern China due to its strong drought tolerance. This study compared it with Haloxylon ammodendron, a C4 species, regarding the interactive effects of drought stress and different leaf–air vapor pressure deficits. Variables of interest included gas exchange, the activity levels of key C4 photosynthetic enzymes, and cellular anatomy. In both species, gas exchange parameters were more sensitive to high vapor pressure deficit than to strong water stress, and the net CO2 assimilation rate(A n) was enhanced as vapor pressure deficits increased. A close relationship between A n and stomatal conductance(g s) suggested that the species shared a similar response mechanism. In H. ammodendron, the activity levels of key C4 enzymes were higher, including those of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase(PEPC) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate-malate enzyme(NADP-ME), whereas in H. scoparium, the activity level of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide-malate enzyme(NAD-ME) was higher.Meanwhile, H. scoparium utilized adaptive structural features, including a larger relative vessel area and a shorter distance from vein to stomata, which facilitated the movement of water. | 13 | The relationship between treatment-induced hypertension and efficacy of anlotinib in recurrent or metastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma显示文摘Objective:In this post-hoc analysis,we evaluated anlotinib treatment-induced hypertension as a potential predictive factor of efficacy in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)patients.Methods:A total of 109 patients enrolled in the anlotinib group in a phase 2 trial were included.The tumor response was assessed by computed tomography at week 3,week 6,and then every 6 weeks until progressive disease was observed.The primary endpoint of the study was progression free survival(PFS).The secondary endpoints included overall survival(OS)and objective response rate(ORR).Results:In all patients,the median PFS was 3.02 months[95%confidence interval(CI):2.63–3.65 months]and the OS was 6.11 months(95%CI:4.40–7.79 months).The ORR was 7.34%(95%CI:3.22%–13.95%).A total of 59(54%)patients were diagnosed with treatment-induced hypertension(Group A),and the remaining patients(n=50,46%)were in Group B.Baseline prognostic factors were similar between the 2 groups.Patients in Group A had a longer PFS and OS and higher ORR.When stratifying patients using a previously known history of hypertension,treatment-induced hypertension was a predictor only for patients without previous hypertension,who had longer PFS[hazard ratio(HR):0.40,95%CI:0.24–0.68]and OS(HR:0.37,95%CI:0.21–0.67).Conclusions:We showed,for the first time,a correlation between treatment-induced hypertension and better prognoses in recurrent or metastatic ESCC patients treated with anlotinib,without a previously known history of hypertension.Treatment-induced hypertension may be a simple and low cost predictor for anlotinib antitumor efficacy in these patients,which may also reflect the intended target inhibition. | Yan Song Juxiang Xiao Wentao Fang Ping Lu Qingxia Fan Yongqian Shu Jifeng Feng Shu Zhang Yi Ba Yang Zhao Ying Liu Chunmei Bai Yuxian Bai Yong Tang Jie He Jing Huang | 2021 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2021,18,2: | 1 |

| 16 | Baseline radiologic features as predictors of efficacy in patients with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors with liver metastases receiving surufatinib显示文摘Objective:Currently,pre-treatment prediction of patients with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors with liver metastases(PNELM)receiving surufatinib treatment was unsatisfying.Our objective was to examine the association between radiological characteristics and efficacy/prognosis.Methods:We enrolled patients with liver metastases in the phase III,SANET-p trial(NCT02589821)and obtained contrast-enhanced computed tomography(CECT)images.Qualitative and quantitative parameters including hepatic tumor margins,lesion volumes,enhancement pattern,localization types,and enhancement ratios were evaluated.The progression-free survival(PFS)and hazard ratio(HR)were calculated using Cox’s proportional hazard model.Efficacy was analyzed by logistic-regression models.Results:Among 152 patients who had baseline CECT assessments and were included in this analysis,the surufatinib group showed statistically superior efficacy in terms of median PFS compared to placebo across various qualitative and quantitative parameters.In the multivariable analysis of patients receiving surufatinib(N=100),those with higher arterial phase standardized enhancement ratio-peri-lesion(ASER-peri)exhibited longer PFS[HR=0.039;95%confidence interval(95%CI):0.003−0.483;P=0.012].Furthermore,patients with a high enhancement pattern experienced an improvement in the objective response ratio[31.3%vs.14.7%,odds ratio(OR)=3.488;95%CI:1.024−11.875;P=0.046],and well-defined tumor margins were associated with a higher disease control rate(DCR)(89.3%vs.68.2%,OR=4.535;95%CI:1.285−16.011;P=0.019)compared to poorlydefined margins.Conclusions:These pre-treatment radiological features,namely high ASER-peri,high enhancement pattern,and well-defined tumor margins,have the potential to serve as predictive markers of efficacy in patients with PNELM receiving surufatinib. | Jianwei Zhang Haibin Zhu Lin Shen Jie Li Xiaoyan Zhang Chunmei Bai Zhiwei Zhou Xianrui Yu Zhiping Li Enxiao Li Xianglin Yuan Wenhui Lou Yihebali Chi Nong Xu Yongmei Yin Yuxian Bai Tao Zhang Dianrong Xiu Jia Chen Shukui Qin Xiuwen Wang Yujie Yang Haoyun Shi Xian Luo Songhua Fan Weiguo Su Ming Lu Jianming Xu | 2023 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2023,35,5: | 0 |
| 17 | Efficacy and safety of gemcitabine plus S-1 vs. gemcitabine plus nab-paclitaxel in treatment-na?ve advanced pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma显示文摘Objective:Gemcitabine plus nab-paclitaxel(GnP)is the standard first-line therapy for advanced pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC).S-1,an oral fluoropyrimidine derivative,as compared with gemcitabine,is non-inferior in terms of overall survival(OS)and is associated with lower hematologic toxicity.Accordingly,S-1 is a convenient oral alternative treatment for advanced PDAC.This study was aimed at comparing the efficacy and safety of gemcitabine plus S-1(GS)vs.GnP as first-line chemotherapy for advanced PDAC.Methods:Patients with advanced PDAC who received first-line GS or GnP at the Peking Union Medical College Hospital between March 2011 and November 2022 were evaluated.Results:A total of 300 patients were assessed,of whom 84 received GS and 216 received GnP.The chemotherapy completion rate was higher with GS than GnP(50.0%vs.30.3%,P=0.0028).The objective response rate(ORR)was slightly higher(14.3%vs.9.7%,P=0.35),and the median OS was significantly longer(17.9 months vs.13.3 months,P=0.0078),in the GS group than the GnP group.However,the median progression-free survival(PFS)did not significantly differ between groups.Leukopenia risk was significantly lower in the GS group than the GnP group(14.9%vs.28.1%,P=0.049).Conclusions:As first-line chemotherapy for advanced PDAC,the GS regimen led to a significantly longer OS than the GnP regimen.The PFS,ORR,and incidence of severe adverse events were comparable between the GS and GnP groups. | Zhou Zhu Hui Tang Jinrong Ying Yuejuan Cheng Xiang Wang Yingyi Wang Chunmei Bai | 2023 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2023,20,10: | 0 |

| 19 | Synthesis and characterization of superhydrophobic magnesium oxysulfate whiskers显示文摘Superhydrophobic materials have attracted much attention for their special wettability.In this study.magnesium oxysulfate(MOS)whiskers were surface modified by vinyltrimethoxysilane(VTMS)and prepared as superhydrophobic materials,which are expected to be widely used in self-cleaning,corro-sion prevention,and oil-water separation.The factors of silane concentration,hydrolysis time,reaction temperature,and reaction time were investigated.The superhydrophobic Mos whiskers were synthe-sized.SEM and XRD turned out that there were no apparent changes in the morphology and crystalli-zation behavior of whiskers before and after modification,while the surface was uniformly coated with a layer of non-crystal material,and the surface of the whiskers employed a chemical bond Si-O-Mg covalently connected.The thermogravimetric analysis ultimately demonstrated that surface modification was beneficial to the improvement of the thermal stability of MoS whiskers.Superhydrophobic MoS whiskers showed good compatibility with organic solvents through oil-water separation experiments,and demonstrated excellent self-cleaning performance.The methodology for the surface treatment of Mos whiskers to prepare superhydrophobic whiskers in this work may be extended for other whiskers or fillers,which may be promising for the preparation of superhydrophobic materials. | Zhenying Yao Lu Gong Chunmei Zhu Xin Lian Bai He Shenghui Tian Bo Yui | 2023 | Particuology2023,,7: | 0 |
