1Formation history and protolith characteristics of granulite facies metamorphic rock in Central Cathaysia deduced from U-Pb and Lu-Hf isotopic studies of single zircon grains显示文摘The petrochemical as well as zircon U-Pb and Lu-Hf isotopic studies of granulite facies metamorphic rock from the Taoxi Group in eastern Nanling Range, Central Cathaysia indicate that its protolith is the sedimentary rock with low maturation index. The clastic materials are mostly from middle Neoproterozoic (~736 Ma) granitoid rocks with minor Neoarchaean and Paleoproterozoic rocks. The timing of this Neoproterozoic magmatism is in agreement with the second period of magmatism widespread surrounding the Yangtze Block. Hf isotopic data indicate that the Neoproterozoic granitoids resulted from the recycled Paleoproterozoic mantle-derived crustal materials. The sedimentary rock was deposited in Late Neoproterozoic Era, and carried into low crust in Early Paleozoic. The partial melting of the meta-sedimentary rock took place at about 480 Ma and subsequently granulite facies metamorphism occurred at ca. 443 Ma. The zircons forming during this time interval (Early Paleozoic) show large Hf isotope variations, and their -Hf(t) values increase from -13.2 to +2.36 with decreasing age, suggesting the injection of mantle-derived materials during partial melting and metamorphism processes in the Early Paleozoic. Calculation results show that this metamorphic rock, if evolved to Mesozoic, has similar isotopic composition to the nearby Mesozoic high Si peraluminous granites, implying that this kind of granulite facies metamorphic rock is probably the source material of some Mesozoic peraluminous granitoids in eastern Nanling Range.YU Jinhai ZHOU Xinmin Y. 2MicroRNA regulation of innate immune responses in epithelial cells显示文摘Mucosal surface epithelial cells are equipped with several defense mechanisms that guard against pathogens.Recent studies indicate that microRNAs(miRNAs)mediate post-transcriptional gene suppression and may be a critical component of the complex regulatory networks in epithelial immune responses.Transcription of miRNA genes in epithelial cells can be elaborately controlled through pathogen recognition receptors,such as Toll-like receptors(TLRs),and associated nuclear factor kappaB(NF-kB)and mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)pathways,and ultimately nuclear transcription factor associated-transactivation and transrepression.Activation of these intracellular signaling pathways may also modulate the process of miRNA maturation.Functionally,miRNAs may modulate epithelial immune responses at every step of the innate immune network,including production and release of cytokines/chemokines,expression of adhesion and costimulatory molecules,shuttling of miRNAs through release of exosomes and feedback regulation of immune homeostasis.Therefore,miRNAs act as critical regulators to the fine-tuning of epithelial immune responses.Rui Zhou Steven P O’Hara Xian-Ming Chen 2011Cellular & Molecular Immunology2011,8,5:13

5Molten salts-modified MgO-based adsorbents for intermediate-temperature CO_2 capture: A review显示文摘Carbon dioxide(CO2) capture using magnesium oxide(MgO)-based adsorbents at intermediate temperatures has been regarded as a very prospective technology for their relatively high adsorption capacity,low cost, and wide availability. During the past few years, great effort has been devoted to the fabrication of molten salts-modified MgO-based adsorbents. The extraordinary progress achieved by coating with molten salts greatly promotes the CO_2 capture capacity of MgO-based adsorbents. Therefore, we feel it necessary to deliver a timely review on this type of CO_2 capturing materials, which will benefit the researchers working in both academic and industrial areas. In this work, we classified the molten saltsmodified MgO adsorbents into four categories:(1) homogenous molten salt-modified MgO adsorbents,(2) molten salt-modified double salts-based MgO adsorbents,(3) mixed molten salts-modified MgO adsorbents, and(4) molten salts-modified MgO-based mixed oxides adsorbents. This contribution critically reviews the recent developments in the synthetic method, adsorption capacity, reaction kinetics, promotion mechanism, operational conditions and regenerability of the molten salts-modified MgO CO_2 adsorbents. 6Isolation of circulating tumor cells in non-small-cell-lung-cancer patients using a multi-flow microfluidic channel显示文摘Circulating tumor cells(CTCs)carry a wealth of information on primary and metastatic tumors critical for precise cancer detection,monitoring,and treatment.Numerous microfluidic platforms have been developed in the past few years to capture these rare cells in patient bloodstream for deciphering the critical information needed.However,the practical need for a high-quality method of CTC isolation remains to be met.Herein,we demonstrate a novel multi-flow microfluidic device that is able to sensitively provide high purity(>87%)of separation outcome without labeling.Our device is constructed and configured based on the phenomenal effect of size-dependent inertial migration.The recovery rate of>93%has been achieved using spiked cancer cells at clinically relevant concentrations(10 cells per 5 mL and above).We have also successfully detected CTCs from 6 out of 8 non-small-cell-lung-cancer(NSCLC)patients,while none for 5 healthy control subjects.With these results,we envision our approach is a promising alternative for reliable CTC capture,and thus for facilitating the progress of extracting information from CTCs to personalize treatment strategies for solid tumor patients.Jian Zhou Arutha Kulasinghe Amanda Bogseth Ken O’Byrne Chamindie Punyadeera Ian Papautsky 2019Microsystems & Nanoengineering2019,5,1:9
7AI-Based Modeling and Data-Driven Evaluation for Smart Manufacturing Processes显示文摘Smart manufacturing refers to optimization techniques that are implemented in production operations by utilizing advanced analytics approaches. With the widespread increase in deploying industrial internet of things(IIOT) sensors in manufacturing processes, there is a progressive need for optimal and effective approaches to data management.Embracing machine learning and artificial intelligence to take advantage of manufacturing data can lead to efficient and intelligent automation. In this paper, we conduct a comprehensive analysis based on evolutionary computing and neural network algorithms toward making semiconductor manufacturing smart.We propose a dynamic algorithm for gaining useful insights about semiconductor manufacturing processes and to address various challenges. We elaborate on the utilization of a genetic algorithm and neural network to propose an intelligent feature selection algorithm. 9Accuracy of triage strategies for human papillomavirus DNA-positive women in low-resource settings:A cross-sectional study in China显示文摘Objective: Care HPV is a human papillomavirus(HPV) DNA test for low-resource settings(LRS).This study assesses optimum triage strategies for care HPV-positive women in LRS.Methods: A total of 2,530 Chinese women were concurrently screened for cervical cancer with visual inspection with acetic acid(VIA),liquid-based cytology and HPV testing by physician-and self-collected care HPV,and physician-collected Hybrid Capture 2(HC2).Screen-positive women were referred to colposcopy with biopsy and endocervical curettage as necessary.HPV-positivity was defined as ≥1.0 relative light units/cutoff(RLU/CO) for both care HPV and HC2.Primary physician-HC2,physician-care HPV and self-care HPV and in sequential screening with cytology,VIA,or increased HPV test-positivity performance,stratified by age,were assessed for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN) grade 2/3 or worse(CIN2/3+) detection.Results: The sensitivities and specificities of primary HPV testing for CIN2+ were: 83.8%,88.1% for physiciancare HPV; 72.1%,88.2% for self-care HPV; and 97.1%,86.0% for HC2.Physician-care HPV test-positive women with VIA triage had a sensitivity of 30.9% for CIN2+ versus 80.9% with cytology triage.Self-care HPV testpositive women with VIA triage was 26.5% versus 66.2% with cytology triage.The sensitivity of HC2 test-positive women with VIA triage was 38.2% versus 92.6% with cytology triage.The sensitivity of physician-care HPV testing for CIN2+ decreased from 83.8% at ≥1.0 RLU/CO to 72.1% at ≥10.00 RLU/CO,while the sensitivity of selfcare HPV testing decreased from 72.1% at ≥1.0 RLU/CO to 32.4% at ≥10.00 RLU/CO; similar trends were seen with age-stratification.Conclusions: VIA and cytology triage improved specificity for CIN2/3 than no triage.Sensitivity with VIA triage was unsuitable for a mass-screening program.VIA provider training might improve this strategy.Cytology triage could be feasible where a high-quality cytology program exists.Triage of HPV test-positive women by increased test positivity cutoff adds another LRS triage option.Margaret Wang Shangying Hu Shuang Zha o Wenhua Zhang Qinjing Pan Xun Zhang FengChen Jinxiu Han Junfei Ma Jennifer S.Smith Youlin Qiao Caihong Zhou Fanghui Zhao 2017Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2017,29,6:6

12Exceptional preservation of soft tissue in a new specimen of Eoconfuciusornis and its biological implications显示文摘We report on an exceptional specimen of Eoconfuciusornis preserving rare soft-tissue traces of the ovary and wing. Ovarian follicles preserve a greater hierarchy than observed in Jeholornis and enantiornithines,suggesting confuciusornithiforms evolved higher rates of yolk deposition in parallel with the neornithine lineage. The preserved soft tissues of the wing indicate the presence of a propatagium and postpatagium,whereas an alular patagium is absent. Preserved remnants of the internal support network of the propatagium bear remarkable similarity to that of living birds. Soft tissue suggests the confuciusornithiform propatagium could maintain a cambered profile and generate lift. The feathers of the wing preserve remnants of their original patterning; however, this is not strongly reflected by observable differences under scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The tail plumage lacks elongate rectrices, suggesting that the earliest known confuciusornithiforms were sexually dimorphic in their plumage.Xiaoting Zheng Jingmai K. 14LMP2-DC Vaccine Elicits Specific EBV-LMP2 Response to Effectively Improve Immunotherapy in Patients with Nasopharyngeal Cancer显示文摘Objective To evaluate the safety and effectiveness of a vaccine based on latent membrane protein 2(LMP2)modified dendritic cells(DCs)that boosts specific responses of cytotoxic T lymphocytes(CTLs)to LMP2 before and after intradermal injection in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC).Methods DCs were derived from peripheral blood monocytes of patients with NPC.We prepared LMP2-DCs infected by recombinant adenovirus vector expressing LMP2(rAd-LMP2).NPC patients were immunized with 2×105 LMP2-DCs by intradermal injection at week 0 and after the second and fourth weeks.Specific responses to LMP2 were detected by enzyme-linked immunospot(ELISPOT)assay at week 0 and at the fifth and eighth weeks.Local clinicians performed the follow-up and tracking of patients.Results We demonstrated that DCs derived from monocytes displayed typical DC morphologies;the expression of LMP2 in the LMP2-DCs vaccine was confirmed by immunocytochemical assay.Twenty-nine patients with NPC were enrolled in this clinical trial.The LMP2-DCs vaccine was well tolerated in all of the patients.Boosted responses to LMP2 peptide sub-pools were observed in 18 of the 29 patients with NPC.The follow-up data of 29 immunized patients from April,2010 to April 2015 indicated a five-year survival rate of 94.4%in responders and 45.5%in non-responders.Conclusion In this pilot study,we demonstrated that the LMP2-DCs vaccine is safe and effective in patients with NPC.Specific CTLs responses to LMP2 play a certain role in controlling and preventing the recurrence and metastasis of NPC,which warrants further clinical testing.ZENG Yi SI Yong Feng LAN Gui Ping WANG Zhan ZHOU Ling TANG Min Zhong SJ O`Brien LAN Jiao ZHOU Xiang Yang WANG Yong Li TANG Juan ZHOU Zhi Xiang DU Hai Jun LIN Hui 2020Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2020,33,11:2

20Mechanical and low-cycle fatigue behavior of stainless reinforcing steel for earthquake engineering applications显示文摘Use of stainless reinforcing steel (SRS) in reinforced concrete (RC) structures is a promising solution to corrosion issues.However, for SRS to be used in seismic applications, several mechanical properties need to be investigated.These include specifi ed and actual yield strengths, tensile strengths, uniform elongations and low-cycle fatigue behavior.Three types of SRSs (Talley S24100, Talley 316LN and Talley 2205) were tested and the results are reported in this paper.They were compared with the properties of A706 carbon reinforcing steel (RS), which is typical for seismic applications, and MMFX II, which is a high strength, corrosion resistant RS.Low-cycle fatigue tests of the RS coupons were conducted under strain control with constant amplitude to obtain strain life models of the steels.Test results show that the SRSs have slightly lower moduli of elasticity, higher uniform elongations before necking, and better low-cycle fatigue performance than A706 and MMFX II.All five types of RSs tested satisfy the requirements of the ACI 318 code on the lower limit of the tensile to yield strength ratio.Except Talley 2205, the other four types of RSs investigated meet the ACI 318 requirement that the actual yield strength does not exceed the specified yield strength by more than 18 ksi (124 MPa).Among the three types of SRSs tested, Talley S24100 possesses the highest uniform elongation before necking, and the best low-cycle fatigue performance.Yihui Zhou Yu-Chen OU George C.
