1Arctic Sea Ice and Eurasian Climate:A Review显示文摘The Arctic plays a fundamental role in the climate system and has shown significant climate change in recent decades,including the Arctic warming and decline of Arctic sea-ice extent and thickness. In contrast to the Arctic warming and reduction of Arctic sea ice, Europe, East Asia and North America have experienced anomalously cold conditions, with record snowfall during recent years. In this paper, we review current understanding of the sea-ice impacts on the Eurasian climate.Paleo, observational and modelling studies are covered to summarize several major themes, including: the variability of Arctic sea ice and its controls; the likely causes and apparent impacts of the Arctic sea-ice decline during the satellite era,as well as past and projected future impacts and trends; the links and feedback mechanisms between the Arctic sea ice and the Arctic Oscillation/North Atlantic Oscillation, the recent Eurasian cooling, winter atmospheric circulation, summer precipitation in East Asia, spring snowfall over Eurasia, East Asian winter monsoon, and midlatitude extreme weather; and the remote climate response(e.g., atmospheric circulation, air temperature) to changes in Arctic sea ice. 3The seasonal dependence of cycle slip occurrence of GPS data over China low latitude region显示文摘The relationship of daily accumulated cycle slip occurrence with the season is analyzed using the GPS data observed in six GPS stations located in China low latitude region in 2001. It is found that the seasonal dependence of cycle slip oc-currence is evident. The cycle slip mainly occurs during the periods of two equinox months (March to May and September to October), and some correlative changes of the cycle slip occurrences over all six stations are exhibited in some special days. 4Effectiveness of dietary xylo-oligosaccharides for broilers fed a conventional corn-soybean meal diet显示文摘An experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary supplementation of xylo-oligosaccharides(XOS) on growth performance, meat quality, immune functions, duodenal morphology and intestinal microbial populations of broilers fed a conventional corn-soybean meal basal diet. A total of 450 1-day-old commercial Arbor Acres male broiler chicks were randomly allocated by bodyweight to 1 of 5 treatments with 6 replicate cages(15 broilers per cage) for each of 5 treatments in a completely randomized design. Chicks were fed the basal corn-soybean meal diets supplemented with 0, 25, 50, 75, or 100 mg of XOS kg–1 of diet, respectively, for an experimental duration of 42 days. The results showed that supplementation of XOS affected feed conversion rate(feed/gain, F/G) during days 22–42 and 1–42(P<0.03), drip loss in thigh muscle(P=0.02), and duodenal crypt depth(P=0.005) on day 42, but had no effect(P>0.05) on all other measured indices. The chicks fed the diet supplemented with 100 mg of XOS kg–1 had the lowest(P<0.05) F/G and drip loss in thigh muscle. The drip loss in thigh muscle decreased linearly(P=0.003) as the supplemented XOS increased. Duodenal crypt depth decreased(P<0.05) at the supplemental level of 75 mg of XOS kg–1. 6Clinical and molecular analysis of hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer in Chinese colorectal cancer patients显示文摘AIM:To analyze the frequency of hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer(HNPCC)in Chinese colorectal cancer(CRC)patients,and to discuss the value of microsatellite instability(MSI)and/or immunohistochemistry(IHC)for MSH2/MLH1 protein analysis as pre-screening tests in China.METHODS:The Amsterdam criteriaⅠandⅡ(clinical diagnosis)and/or germline hMLH1/hMSH2 mutations(genetic diagnosis)were used to classify HNPCC families.Genetic tests,including microsatellite instability,immunohistochemistry for MSH2/MLH1 proteins and hMSH2/hMLH1 genes,were performed in each proband.RESULTS:From July 2000 to June 2004,1988 patients with colorectal cancer were analysed and 114 CRC patients(5.7%)from 48 families were categorized as having HNPCC,including 76 from 26 families diagnosed clinically and 38 from the other 22 families diagnosed genetically.The sensitivity and specificity of high MSI and IHC for predicting mutations were 100% and 54%,and 79% and 77%,respectively.CONCLUSION:The frequency of HNPCC is approximately 10% among all Chinese CRC cases.The MSI and IHC detections for hMSH2/hMLH1 proteins are reliable pre-screening tests for hMLH1/hMSH2 germline mutations in families suspected of having HNPCC.Jun Wang Mao-Hong Luo Zuo-Xing Zhang Pei-Da Zhang Xi-Li Jiang Dong-Wang Ma Rong-Zeng Suo Li-Zhong Zhao Qing-Hui Qi 2007World Journal of Gastroenterology2007,13,10:8
7Partial Melting Processes During Exhumation of Ultrahigh-Pressure Metamorphic Rocks in Dabieshan, China显示文摘Study practice has proved that the ultrahigh pressure metamorphic rocks iu Dabieshan must have exPerienced botk the retrograde metumorphism and partial melting under decompression and amphibolite-facies conditions during their exhumation from mantel depth to lower-middle crust.The retrometamorphism and partial melting of the ultrahigh pressure rocks in association with thermal state changing in the middle-lower crust, under amphibolite-facies conditions, are important physical and chemical processes. It would result in a great detrease in the integrated yield strength, and the enhancement of the de formabilitY or the rocks, promoting the transition from contractional (collision) to extensional defoemational regime. The statement of tbe retrometamorphism and partial melting of the ultrahigh pressure rocks has proved the in-site model for the ultrahigh pressure rocks in Dabieshan. It not only clarifies the evolutiou from the UHP eclogite to the surrounding gneissic rock (so called UHP gueiss) and to the garnet-beariug roliated granites (non-UHP country rocks), but also provides scientific arguments for the establiskment of the dynamic model of the exhumation of UHP metamorphic rocks in Dabiesban. In general, Purely conductive heat transfer from the crust itself is probably insurficient to produce temperature conditions for partial melting, and additional heat sources must have been present during partial melting. 9Donepezil,a drug for Alzheimer’s disease,promotes oligodendrocyte generation and remyelination显示文摘Myelin sheaths play important roles in neuronal functions.In the central nervous system(CNS),the myelin is formed by oligodendrocytes(OLs),which are differentiated from oligodendrocyte precursor cells(OPCs).In CNS demyelinating disorders such as multiple sclerosis(MS),the myelin sheaths are damaged and the remyelination process is hindered.Small molecule drugs that promote OPC to OL differentiation and remyelination may provide a new way to treat these demyelinating diseases.Here we report that donepezil,an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor(AChEI)developed for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease(AD);significantly promotes OPC to OL differentiation.Interestingly,other AChEls,including huperzine A,rivastigmine,and tacrine,have no such effect indicating that donepezil's effect in promoting OPC differentiation is not dependent on the inhibition of AChE.Donepezil also facilitates the formation of myelin sheaths in OPC-DRG neuron co-culture.More interestingly,donepezil also promotes the repair of the myelin sheaths in vivo and provides significant therapeutic effect in a cuprizone-mediated demyelination animal model.Donepezil is a drug that has been used to treat AD safely for many years;our findings suggest that it might be repurposed to treat CNS demyelinating diseases such as MS by promoting OPC to OL differentiation and remyelination.Xue Cui Yu-e Guo Jia-hui Fang Chang-jie Shi Na Suo Ru Zhang Xin Xie 2019Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2019,40,11:7
10High-throughput experiments facilitate materials innovation:A review显示文摘Since the Material Genome Initiative(MGI) was proposed, high-throughput based technology has been widely employed in various fields of materials science. As a theoretical guide, material informatics has been introduced based on machine learning and data mining and high-throughput computation has been employed for large scale search, narrowing down the scope of the experiment trials. High-throughput materials experiments including synthesis, processing, and characterization technologies have become valuable research tools to pin down the prediction experimentally, enabling the discovery-to-deployment of advances materials more efficiently at a fraction of cost. This review aims to summarize the recent advances of high-throughput materials experiments and introduce briefly the development of materials design based on material genome concept. By selecting representative and classic works in the past years, various high-throughput preparation methods are introduced for different types of material gradient libraries, including metallic, inorganic materials, and polymers. Furthermore, high-throughput characterization approaches are comprehensively discussed, including both their advantages and limitations. 11In vivo flow cytometry reveals a circadian rhythm of circulating tumor cells显示文摘Circulating tumor cells(CTCs)is an established biomarker of cancer metastasis.The circulation dynamics of CTCs are important for understanding the mechanisms underlying tumor cell dissemination.Although studies have revealed that the circadian rhythm may disrupt the growth of tumors,it is generally unclear whether the circadian rhythm controls the release of CTCs.In clinical examinations,the current in vitro methods for detecting CTCs in blood samples are based on a fundamental assumption that CTC counts in the peripheral blood do not change significantly over time,which is being challenged by recent studies.Since it is not practical to draw blood from patients repeatedly,a feasible strategy to investigate the circadian rhythm of CTCs is to monitor them by in vivo detection methods.Fluoresce nee in vivo flow cytometry(IVFC)is a powerful optical technique that is able to detect fluoresce nt circulating cells directly in living animals in a noninvasive manner over a long period of time.In this study,we applied fluorescence IVFC to monitor CTCs noninvasively in an orthotopic mouse model of human prostate cancer.We observed that CTCs exhibited stochastic bursts over cancer progression.The probability of the bursting activity was higher at early stages than at late stages.We longitudinally monitored CTCs over a 24-h period,and our results revealed striking daily oscillations in CTC counts that peaked at the onset of the night(active phase for rodents),suggesting that the release of CTCs might be regulated by the circadian rhythm.Xi Zhu Yuanzhen Suo Yuting Fu Fuli Zhang Nan Ding Kai Pang Chengying Xie Xiaofu Weng Meilu Tian Hao He Xunbin Wei 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,6:6
12THE FLOW IN ROTATING CURVED CIRCULAR PIPE显示文摘The combined effects of the system rotation (Coriolis force) and curvature (centrifugal force) on the flow in rotating curved circular pipe with small curvature are examined by perturbation method. A second order perturbation solution is presented. The secondary flow structure and the primary axial velocity distributions are studied in detail. The loops of the secondary flow are more complex than those in a curved pipe without rotation or a rotating straight pipe. Its numbers depend on the body force ratio F which represents the ratio of the Coriolis to the centrifugal force. The maximum of the axial velocity is pushed to either outer bend or inner bend, which is also determined by F. 13The RNA-binding protein Musashi2 governs osteoblast-adipocyte lineage commitment by suppressing PPARγsignaling显示文摘Osteoporosis caused by aging is characterized by reduced bone mass and accumulated adipocytes in the bone marrow cavity. How the balance between osteoblastogenesis and adipogenesis from bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs) is lost upon aging is still unclear. Here, we found that the RNA-binding protein Musashi2(Msi2) regulates BMSC lineage commitment. Msi2 is commonly enriched in stem cells and tumor cells. We found that its expression was downregulated during adipogenic differentiation and upregulated during osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs. Msi2 knockout mice exhibited decreased bone mass with substantial accumulation of marrow adipocytes, similar to aging-induced osteoporosis. Depletion of Msi2 in BMSCs led to increased adipocyte commitment. Transcriptional profiling analysis revealed that Msi2 deficiency led to increased PPARγ signaling.RNA-interacting protein immunoprecipitation assays demonstrated that Msi2 could inhibit the translation of the key adipogenic factor Cebpα, thereby inhibiting PPAR signaling. Furthermore, the expression of Msi2 decreased significantly during the aging process of mice, indicating that decreased Msi2 function during aging contributes to abnormal accumulation of adipocytes in bone marrow and osteoporosis. 14Efficacy of Zhonglun'a-decoction-containing serum on fibroblastlike synoviocyte apoptosis in rats with collagen-induced arthritis via inhibiting Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription signaling pathway显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficacy of Zhonglun'a-decoction-containing serum(ZHONGL-CS)on the in vitro apoptosis of fibroblast-like synoviocytes(FLS) from rats with collagen-induced arthritis(CIA) by investigating the Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription(JAK/STAT) signaling pathway.METHODS: A CIA rat model was established using bovine type Ⅱ collagen. FLS were isolated, cultured and identified. A cell counting kit-8 was used to detect cell activity. The half maximal inhibitory concentration(IC50) was calculated. Experimental subjects were divided into control, CIA,ZHONGL-CS, JAK2 inhibitor AG490, and ZHONGLCS with AG490 groups. The in vitro cell cycle and apoptosis rate were detected in FLS by flow cytometry. Bcl-2-associated X protein(Bax), B-cell lymphoma 2(Bcl-2), caspase-3, cyclin D1, phosphorylated JAK2, STAT1, and STAT3 protein expressions in FLS were examined by Western blotting. JAK2, STAT1 and STAT3 mRNA levels were examined by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction.RESULTS: Compared with the CIA group, FLS proliferation was inhibited, the FLS G0/G1 cell cycle was arrested, and the rate of FLS apoptosis was increased in the ZHONGL-CS group. In the ZHONGLCS group, the protein levels of Bcl-2 and cyclin D1 were reduced compared with the CIA group and the levels of Bax and caspase-3 in FLS were increased. In the ZHONGL-CS group, the expressions of JAK2, STAT1, and STAT3 mRNA and the levels of phosphorylated JAK2, STAT1, and STAT3 proteins were reduced.CONCLUSION: ZHONGL-CS may induce FLS apoptosis in CIA rats. 15Microbial population dynamics and changes in main nutrients during the acidification process of pig manures显示文摘This study evaluated the impact of pig manure acidification on anaerobic treatment and composition of the fecal microbial community.According to the different chemical oxygen demand (COD) in the anaerobic treatment processes,pig manure was diluted 4 times (×4),16 times (×16),or 64 times (×64) and subjected to acidification.During the acidification process,pH,soluble chemical oxygen demand (SCOD),volatile fatty acids (VFAs),nitrogen (N),phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) were determined along with microbial population dynamics.The pH of the three dilutions first declined,and then slowly increased.The total VFAs of ×4 and ×16 dilutions peaked on day 15 and 20,respectively.The content of acetic acid,propanoic acid,butanoic acid and valeric acid of the × 4 dilution were 23.6,11.4,8.8 and 0.6 g/L respectively,and that of the ×16 dilution was 5.6,2.3,0.9 and 0.2 g/L respectively.Only acetic acid was detected in the ×64 dilution,and its level peaked on day 10.The results showed that the liquid pig manure was more suitable to enter the anaerobic methanogenic bioreactors after two weeks of acidification.During the acidification process,total P concentration increased during the first ten days,then dropped sharply,and rose again to a relatively high final concentration,while total N concentration rose initially and then declined.Based on the analysis of denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) and 16S rRNA gene clone library,we concluded that the acidification process reduced the number of pathogenic bacteria species in pig manure.Dongdong Zhang Xufeng Yuan Peng Guo Yali Suo Xiaofen Wang Weidong Wang Zongjun Cui 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,3:4

17Microglia modulation with 1070-nm light attenuates Aβ burden and cognitive impairment in Alzheimer’s disease mouse model显示文摘Photobiomodulation,by utilizing low-power light in the visible and near-infrared spectra to trigger biological responses in cells and tissues,has been considered as a possible therapeutic strategy for Alzheimer’s disease(AD),while its specific mechanisms have remained elusive.Here,we demonstrate that cognitive and memory impairment in an AD mouse model can be ameliorated by 1070-nm light via reducing cerebralβ-amyloid(Aβ)burden,the hallmark of AD.The glial cells,including microglia and astrocytes,play important roles in Aβclearance.Our results show that 1070-nm light pulsed at 10 Hz triggers microglia rather than astrocyte responses in AD mice.The 1070-nm lightinduced microglia responses with alteration in morphology and increased colocalization with Aβare sufficient to reduce Aβload in AD mice.Moreover,1070-nm light pulsed at 10 Hz can reduce perivascular microglia and promote angiogenesis to further enhance Aβclearance.Our study confirms the important roles of microglia and cerebral vessels in the use of 1070-nm light for the treatment of AD mice and provides a framework for developing a novel therapeutic approach for AD.Lechan Tao Qi Liu Fuli Zhang Yuting Fu Xi Zhu Xiaofu Weng Hongbin Han Yong Huang Yuanzhen Suo Liang Chen Xiaoling Gao Xunbin Wei 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,10:4

19Community structure and biodiversity in plantations and natural forests of seabuckthorn in southern Ningxia,China显示文摘Two types of sampling plots of seabuckthorn(Hippophae rhamnoides) communities were investigated in Pengyang County of Ningxia region by a typical sampling method to study the characteristics of community structure and biodiversity.Composition and dominant species of each community were analyzed by the importance value of species as an index.The number of indi-viduals and the importance value,as well as Sorensen's similarity coefficient,Shannon-Wiener diversity index,Pielou's evenness index and Simpson's dominance index,were used as indices to compare characteristics of community structure,similarity and biodiversity between plantations and natural forests of seabuckthorn.The results indicate that the importance values of species of natural seabuckthorn communities were dispersed and the difference between dominant species was not statistically significant.Diversity indices of natural seabuckthorn communities reflected by species richness and evenness were higher than that of plantations.Community structure of natural seabuckthorn forests is more complex.We propose that natural forest can be used as sample to guide selection of plant species in silviculture in order to improve biodiversity of plantation.LI Suo LUO You-qing WU Jian ZONG Shi-xiang YAO Guo-long LI Yuan LIU Yuan-mei ZHANG Yan-ru 2009Forestry Studies in China2009,11,1:3
20Oxidative Esterification of Methacrolein to Methyl Methacrylate over Supported Palladium Catalyst显示文摘Supported palladium catalysts, which were used in the oxidative esterification of methacrolein to methyl methacrylate, have been prepared with different carriers and Pd precursors. Experimental results revealed that Pd catalysts with γ-Al2O3 support and Na2PdCl4 precursor showed good performance.
