| 1 | Degradation of Soil Properties due to Erosion on Sloping Land in Southern Jiangsu Province,China显示文摘Soil erosion accelerates soil degradation. Some natural soils and cultivated soils on sloping land in southern Jiangsu Province, China were chosen to study soil degradation associated with erosion. Soil erosion intensity was investigated using the 137Cs tracer method. Soil particle-size distribution, soil organic matter (OM), total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) were measured, and the effects of erosion on soil physical and chemical properties were analyzed statistically using SYSTAT8.0. Results indicated that erosion intensity of cultivated soils was greater than that of the natural soils, suggesting that cultivation increased soil loss. Erosion also led to an increase of coarser soil particle proportion, especially in natural soils. In addition, silt was the primary soil particle lost due to erosion. However, in cultivated fields, coarser soil particles over time were attributed not only to soil erosion but also to mechanical eluviation as a result of farming activities. | 2 | The estimate of sea ice resources quantity in the Bohai Sea based on NOAA/AVHRR data显示文摘The research on sea ice resources is the academic base of sea ice exploitation in the Bohai Sea. According to the ice-water spectrum differences and the correlation between ice thickness and albedo, this paper comes up with a sea ice thickness inversion model based on the NOAA/AVHRR data. And then a sea ice resources quantity (SIQ) time series of Bohai Sea is established from 1987 to 2009. The results indicate that the average error of inversion sea ice thickness is below 30%. The maximum sea ice resources quantity is about 6 × 10 9 m 3 and the minimum is 1.3 × 10 9 m 3 . | 3 | Atmospheric Sulfur Deposition on Farmland in East China显示文摘Atmospheric sulfur deposition onto typical farmland in East China was investigated using both field measurements and numerical modeling. The field measurements were conducted at the Experiment Station of Red Soil Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, 10 km from Yingtan, Jiangxi Province, East China, between November 1998 and October 1999, and at the Changshu Ecological Experiment Station, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in a rapidly developing region of Jiangsu Province, East China, between April 2001 and March 2002. The regional acid deposition model system (RegADMS), in which the dry deposition velocities of SO2 and sulfate aerosols (SO42-) were estimated using a big-leaf resistance analogy model, was applied to simulate air sulfur deposition over East China and sulfur deposition onto lands of different use types in East China. The wet scavenging coefficients were parameterized in terms of precipitation rate, and the effect of sub-grid processes due to inhomogeneous land use on dry deposition velocity was also included. Results of the field measurements showed that over 83% of the total sulfur deposition at the Yingtan site was dry deposition, while at the Changshu site42% was dry deposition. The total sulfur deposition was much larger at the Yingtan site than at the Changshu site, which suggested contrasting air pollution and meteorological situations. The modeling results revealed that the total annual sulfur deposition over East China was 1.88 Mt, of which 72.8% was deposited onto farmland, and dry deposition accounted for 43% of the total sulfur deposited. | 4 | AvrXa3: A novel member of avrBs3 gene family from Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae has a dual function显示文摘Two positive clones pUAV45 and pUAV47 were identified from the cDNA library of JxoⅢ, a race 3 strain of Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae Dye (Xoo) in Japanese system, using Tn5 based technology. pUAV45 clone contained a 25.4 kb Xoo genomic DNA insert. Southern blot analysis with avrXa 10 as the probe showed that DNA insert in pUAV45 shares homology with avrX 10. Furthermore within the Xoo insert, a smaller 5.7 kb Kpn I fragment (pUAV5k) was identified through hybridization with avrXa 10. The transformation of pUAV45 and pUAV5k into the strain Pxo99 (race 6 in Philippine system) led to the decrease of Pxo99 pathogenicity on rice cultivar Wase Aikoku 3 ( Xa 3) and the increase of the pathogen pathogenicity on Cas209 ( Xa 10). The result of sequence analysis showed that there is a 2598 bp open reading frame (ORF) within the 5.7 kb Kpn 1 fragment (pUAV5k). The ORF shared high identity (97%) with avrXa 10. The deduced sequence of the ORF contained 8.5 tandem repeat units of 34 amino acids, one leucine zipper (LZ), three nuclear localization signal (NLS) motifs, and an acidic activation transcriptional domain (AAD) at C terminus. | 5 | A de novo Genome of a Chinese Radish Cultivar显示文摘Here, we report a high-quality draft genome of a Chinese radish(Raphanus sativus) cultivar. This draft contains 387.73 Mb of assembled scaffolds, 83.93% of the scaffolds were anchored onto nine pseudochromosomes and 95.09% of 43 240 protein-coding genes were functionally annotated. 184.75 Mb(47.65%) of repeat sequences was identified in the assembled genome. By comparative analyses of the radish genome against 10 other plant genomes, 2 275 genes in 780 gene families were found unique to R. sativus. | 7 | THREE-DIMENSIONAL MEAN AND TURBULENCE CHARACTERISTICS OF AN IMPINGING DENSITY JET IN A CONFINED CROSSFLOW IN NEAR FIELD显示文摘The three-dimensional mean and turbulence characteristics of an impinging density jet in a confined crossflow were numerically investigated using the RNG turbulence model. The comparison of the subregion structures and gross features between the numerical results and the experimental data show good agreement. The velocity, Turbulent Kinetic Energy (TKE) and concentration distributions of the impinging jet in near field were obtained and analyzed. The results indicate that the flow and concentration fields of the impinging jet in the crossflow exhibit distinguished three-dimensionality in the near field. There exist upstream wall vortices and downstream wall jet zones in the impinging region, and the TKE and concentration decays are asymmetrical in relation to the stagnation point. The lateral concentration distribution range in the impinging region spreads considerably. The enhanced entrainment and mixing of the impinging jet in the confined crossflow are mostly associated with the impinging action and lateral expansion in the impinging region. | 8 | Reduction of nitrate from groundwater:powder catalysts and catalytic membrane显示文摘The reduction of nitrate contaminant in groundwater has gained renewed and intensive attention due to the environmental problems and health risks. Catalytic denetrification presents one of the most promising approaches for the removal of nitrate from water. Catalytic nitrate reduction from water by powder catalysts and catalytic membrane in a batch reactor was studied. And the effects of the initial concentration, the amounts of catalyst, and the flux H 2 on the nitrate reduction were also discussed. The results demonstrated that nitrate reduction activity and the selectivity to nitrogen gas were mainly controlled by diffusion limitations and the mass transfer of the reactants. The selectivity can improved while retaining a high catalytic activity under controlled diffusion condition or the intensification of the mass transfer, and a good reaction condition. The total nitrogen removal efficiency reached above 80%. To solve this problem, KD (D&K), which is a comprehensive knowledge discovery process model cooper- ating both database and knowledge base, and related technology are proposed. Then based on KD (D&K) and related technology, the new construction of Expert System based on Knowledge Discovery (ESKD) is proposed. As the key knowledge acquisition component of ESKD, KD (D&K) is composed of KDD* and KDK*. KDD*- the new process model based on double bases cooperating mechanism; KDK*- the new process model based on double-basis fusion mechanism are introduced, respectively. The overall framework of ESKD is proposed. Some sub-systems and dynamic knowledge base system are discussed. Finally, the effectiveness and ad- vantages of ESKD are tested in a real-world agriculture database. According to the data, the obvious characteristic of the groundwater level of the city is that it is changing seasonally. Lhasa is divided into three districts according to hydrogeological conditions: the alluvial plain of the Lhasa-river, the alluvial plain of the Doilung-river, and the alluvial fan of intermountain, which presents a downward trend, a slight upward trend and basically stabilizing trend over the years individually. The analysis indicates that meteorological and hydrological factors lead to the obvious dynamic change of the groundwater level. | 14 | Distribution of Sediment Chloroplastic Pigments in the Southern Yellow Sea,China显示文摘The distribution of sediment chloroplastic pigments (Chl-a, i.e. chlorophyll a and Pha-a, i.e. phaeophorbide a)in the Southern Yellow Sea of China was studied. Samples were collected from four cruises in January and June 2003, and January and June 2004. The results show that the vertical distribution of Chl-a and Pha-a in the sediment layers 0-2cm, 2-5 cm and 5-8 cm, follows a stable ratio, 5:3:2. The average ratio of Pha-a to Chl-a in sediment is 2.83. Spearman 2-tailed rank correlation analysis shows that Chl-a and Pha-a contents in each sediment layer have a highly significant correlation.The average contents of Chl-a and Pha-a in the sediment of the 0-8cm layer in the investigated area are 0.31-0.47μgg-1 and 1.28-1.40 μgg-1 sediment (dry weight), respectively. The average Chl-a and Pha-a contents in sediment are higher in summer than in winter. ANOVA analysis shows that there is a highly significant variation among the Chl-a contents (P = 0.002< 0.01) of the four cruies, but this is not true for the case of Pha-a content (P = 0.766 >0.05). The average Chl-a and Phaa contents in the 2 sediment layers (0-2cm and 2-5cm) have significant or highly significant correlations with organic matter (OM), median diameter (Mdφ), silt plus clay percentage in the January 2003 cruise. In the June 2003 cruise, the average Chl-a content in the 3 sediment layers (0-2 cm, 2-5 cm, and 5-8 cm) has a significant correlation with meiofauna biomass,and Pha-a content has highly significant correlations with water depth, bottom water temperature, OM and MdC.
