| 1 | Advances in Cloud Physics and Weather Modification in China显示文摘The capabilities of cloud-resolving numerical models, observational instruments and cloud seeding have improved greatly over recent years in China. The subject of this review focuses on the main progresses made in China in the areas of cloud modeling, field observations, aerosol–cloud interactions, the effects of urbanization on cloud and precipitation, and weather modification.Well-equipped aircraft and ground-based advanced Doppler and polarized radars have been rapidly applied in cloudseeding operations. The combined use of modern techniques such as the Global Positioning System, remote sensing, and Geographical Information Systems has greatly decreased the blindness and uncertainties in weather-modification activities.Weather-modification models based on state-of-the-art cloud-resolving models are operationally run at the National Weather Modification Centre in China for guiding weather-modification programs.Despite important progress having been made, many critical issues or challenges remain to be solved, or require stronger scientific evidence and support, such as the chain of physical events involved in the effects induced by cloud seeding. Current important progresses in measurements and seeding techniques provide the opportunity and possibility to reduce these deficiencies. | 2 | Expression of SoxC Transcription Factors during Zebrafish Retinal and Optic Nerve Regeneration显示文摘The SoxC transcription factors(Sox4,Sox11,and Sox12) play important roles in the development of the vertebrate eye and retina. However,their expression and function during retinal and optic nerve regeneration remain elusive. In this study,we investigated the expression and possible functions of the SoxC genes after retinal and optic nerve injury in adult zebrafish. We found that among the five SoxC members,Sox11b was strongly induced in BrdU-positive cells in the inner nuclear layer(INL) after retinal injury,and morpholino-mediated Sox11b-knockdown significantly reduced the number of proliferating cells in the INL at 4 days post-injury. After optic nerve lesion,both Sox11a and Sox11b were strongly expressed in retinal ganglion cells(RGCs),and knockdown of both Sox11a and Sox11b inhibited RGC axon regrowth in retinal explants. | 3 | Sizing optimization for island microgrid with pumped storage system considering demand response显示文摘Currently, small islands are facing an energy supply shortage, which has led to considerable concern.Establishing an island microgrid is a relatively good solution to the problem. However, high investment costs restrict its application. In this paper, micro pumped storage(MPS) is used as an energy storage system(ESS) for islands with good geographical conditions, and deferrable appliance is treated as the virtual power source which can be used in the planning and operational processes.Household acceptance of demand response(DR) is indicated by the demand response participation degree(DRPD), and a sizing optimization model for considering the demand response of household appliances in an island microgrid is proposed. The particle swarm optimization(PSO) is used to obtain the optimal sizing of all major devices. In addition, the battery storage(BS) scheme is used as the control group. | 4 | Progress on the application of electrochemiluminescence biosensor based on nanomaterials显示文摘Electrogenerated chemiluminescence, also known as electrochemiluminescence, abbreviated ECL, is a new technology combining electrochemistry and chemiluminescence. It is generated by high-energy electrons generated on the surface of the electrode in the emission process of excited state photons formed in the transfer process, and is a perfect combination of electrochemistry and spectroscopy. It not only has the advantages of good environment, high luminosity and wide dynamic range, but also has the characteristics of simple, stable and practical electrochemical methods, and nearly zero background signals. With the rapid development of nanomaterials, due to their unique electrical properties, large specific surface area, good biocompatibility and other characteristics, various nanomaterials have been widely used in the field of biosensors and sensitive detection. However, stable gas nanobubbles have been experimen-tally observed in recent years. | 6 | Simulations of Microphysics and Precipitation in a Stratiform Cloud Case over Northern China:Comparison of Two Microphysics Schemes显示文摘Using the Weather Research and Forecasting(WRF)model with two different microphysics schemes,the Predicted Particle Properties(P3)and the Morrison double-moment parameterizations,we simulated a stratiform rainfall event on 20–21 April 2010.The simulation output was compared with precipitation and aircraft observations.The aircraft-observed moderate-rimed dendrites and plates indicated that riming contributed significantly to ice particle growth at the mature precipitation stage.Observations of dendrite aggregation and capped columns suggested that aggregation coexisted with deposition or riming and played an important role in producing many large particles.The domain-averaged values of the 24-h surface precipitation accumulation from the two schemes were quite close to each other.However,differences existed in the temporal and spatial evolutions of the precipitation distribution.An analysis of the surface precipitation temporal evolution indicated faster precipitation in Morrison,while P3 indicated slower rainfall by shifting the precipitation pattern eastward toward what was observed.The differences in precipitation values between the two schemes were related to the cloud water content distribution and fall speeds of rimed particles.P3 simulated the stratiform precipitation event better as it captured the gradual transition in the mass-weighted fall speeds and densities from unrimed to rimed particles. | Tuanjie HOU Hengchi LEI Zhaoxia HU Jiefan YANG Xingyu LI | 2020 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,1: | 3 |
| 7 | Aircraft Measurements of the Microphysical Properties of Stratiform Clouds with Embedded Convection显示文摘The presence of embedded convection in stratiform clouds strongly affects ice microphysical properties and precipitation formation.In situ aircraft measurements,including upward and downward spirals and horizontal penetrations,were performed within both embedded convective cells and stratiform regions of a mixedphase stratiform cloud system on 22 May 2017.Supercooled liquid water measurements,particle size distributions,and particle habits in different cloud regions were discussed with the intent of characterizing the riming process and determining how particle size distributions vary from convective to stratiform regions.Significant amounts of supercooled liquid water,with maxima up to 0.6 g m−3,were observed between−3℃ and−6℃ in the embedded convective cells while the peak liquid water content was generally less than 0.1 g m−3 in the stratiform regions.There are two distinct differences in particle size distributions between convective and stratiform regions.One difference is the significant shift toward larger particles from upper−15℃ to lower−10℃ in the convective region,with the maximum particle dimensions increasing from less than 6000μm to over 1 cm.The particles larger than 1 cm at−10℃ are composed of dendrites and their aggregates.The other difference is the large concentrations of small particles(25–205μm)at temperatures between−3℃ and−5℃ in the convective region,where rimed ice particles and needles coexist.Needle regions are observed from three of the five spirals,but only the cloud conditions within the convective region fit into the Hallett-Mossop criteria. | Tuanjie HOU Hengchi LEI Youjiang HE Jiefan YANG Zhen ZHAO Zhaoxia HU | 2021 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,6: | 3 |

| 9 | Effectiveness of Chinese herbal medicine for primary Raynaud's phenomenon:a systematic review and Meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effectiveness of Chinese herbal medicine for primary Raynaud's phenomenon(PRP).METHODS:The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials,PubMed,Chinese Biomedical Literature Database,China National Knowledge Infrastructure,China Science and Technology Journal Database,and Wanfang Database were searched up to February 13,2018.Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)on treatment of PRP with Chinese herbal medicine compared with placebo,blank control,lifestyle changes,or calcium antagonists were identified and reviewed.The quality of included trials was assessed using a risk of bias tool.RESULTS:Eight RCTs involving 674 participants were included.The methodological quality of the included trials was generally poor.Meta-analysis of two trials showed that Buyang Huanwu Tang plus Danggui Sini Tang produced greater improvement in global symptoms than nifedipine.One trial showed that Danggui Sini Tang and a self-composed Chinese herbal medicine decoction,respectively,produced greater improvement in global symptoms than nifedipine alone.In one trial,modified Danggui Sini Tang showed greater improvement in global symptoms and arterial peak systolic velocity compared with nifedipine.One trial showed that Jiejing Tongmi Tang produced greater improvement in global symptoms,plasma endothelin,and plasma nitric oxide than cinepazide maleate injection.However,Jiejing Tongmi Tang did not produce a significant difference in skin temperature and peripheral artery blood stream drawing after cold pressor testing compared with cinepazide maleate injection.None of the trials reported frequency of attacks,duration of attacks,participant preference scores,or adverse events.CONCLUSION:Chinese herbal medicine may have a positive effective on PRP.However,owing to weak methodology,the benefits of Chinese herbal medicine for PRP are inconclusive.More rigorously designed studies are needed to confirm these findings. | Zhang Jinchao Hu Jing He Xiujuan Meng Yujiao Chen Guangkun Chen Zhaoxia Lu Jingjing Li Ping | 2020 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2020,40,4: | 2 |
| 10 | Evaluation of Radar and Automatic Weather Station Data Assimilation for a Heavy Rainfall Event in Southern China显示文摘To improve the accuracy of short-term(0–12 h) forecasts of severe weather in southern China, a real-time storm-scale forecasting system, the Hourly Assimilation and Prediction System(HAPS), has been implemented in Shenzhen, China. The forecasting system is characterized by combining the Advanced Research Weather Research and Forecasting(WRF-ARW)model and the Advanced Regional Prediction System(ARPS) three-dimensional variational data assimilation(3DVAR) package. It is capable of assimilating radar reflectivity and radial velocity data from multiple Doppler radars as well as surface automatic weather station(AWS) data. Experiments are designed to evaluate the impacts of data assimilation on quantitative precipitation forecasting(QPF) by studying a heavy rainfall event in southern China. The forecasts from these experiments are verified against radar, surface, and precipitation observations. Comparison of echo structure and accumulated precipitation suggests that radar data assimilation is useful in improving the short-term forecast by capturing the location and orientation of the band of accumulated rainfall. The assimilation of radar data improves the short-term precipitation forecast skill by up to9 hours by producing more convection. The slight but generally positive impact that surface AWS data has on the forecast of near-surface variables can last up to 6–9 hours. | 11 | Mechanism of variations in environmental magnetic proxies of lake sediments from Nam Co, Tibet during the Holocene显示文摘High-resolution environmental records from the Tibetan Plateau are essential to understand past global climatic and environmental changes. Magnetic minerals in lake sediments are important proxies to reconstruct environmental and climatic changes. Nam Co (lake) is a typical great lake in the transitional region of southwest monsoon in the Tibetan Plateau. Previous studies have extensively focused on geochemistry, microfossils, sedimentology and biochemistry analysis of Nam Co, which provides sound interpretation of paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental changes. However, up to now, no systematic environmental magnetic studies have been carried out. Therefore, high-resolution and systematic magnetic studies combined with geochemical parameters were carried on lake sediments of core NC 08/01 from Nam Co for the Holocene period (11.3 cal ka BP) in order to explore how magnetic properties of the sediments respond to climatic changes. Based on variations of magnetic proxies, the sequence can be separated into 3 units. Unit 1 (236-199 cm, 11.3-7.8 cal ka BP) contains dominantly coarse-grained magnetite with homogeneous grain size. A positive correlation between magnetite and Ti strongly suggests that these coarse-grained detrital magnetites reflect detrital input signals due to insignificant effects of postdepositional dissolution processes on these coarse-grained magnetite particles. For Unit 2 (198-102 cm, 7.8-2.1 cal ka BP), magnetic grain size is finer and the corresponding concentration of magnetite is also reduced. This is mainly due to significant dissolution of these fine-grained detrital magnetite particles, which were transported under reduced water flow conditions during this period. For Unit 3 (101-0 cm, 2.1-0 cal ka BP), the bulk magnetic properties are dominated by a mixture of single domain biogenic magnetite and detrital magnetite. The concentration of magnetic minerals is not correlated with the Ti content. In conclusion, the preservation of magnetic minerals in the lake sediment and thus the corresponding magnetic properties are related to the initial grain size. Combination of magnetic properties (including variation of grain size and concentration) and other proxies of detrital inputs (e.g. Ti) can be used to infer the variation of redox conditions in Nam Co. | 13 | Petal Development in Lotus japonicus显示文摘Previous studies have demonstrated that petal shape and size in legume flowers are determined by two separate mechanisms,dorsoventral (DV) and organ internal (IN) asymmetric mechanisms,respectively.However,little is known about the molecular mechanisms controlling petal development in legumes.To address this question,we investigated petal development along the floral DV axis in Lotus japonicus with respect to cell and developmental biology by comparing wild-type legumes to mutants.Based on morphological markers,the entire course of petal development,from initiation to maturity,was grouped to define 3 phases or 13 stages.In terms of epidermal micromorphology from adaxial surface,mature petals were divided into several distinct domains,and characteristic epidermal cells of each petal differentiated at stage 9,while epidermal cells of all domains were observed until stage 12.TCP and MIXTA-like genes were found to be differentially expressed in various domains of petals at stages 9 and 12.Our results suggest that DV and IN mechanisms interplay at different stages of petal development,and their interaction at the cellular and molecular level guides the elaboration of domains within petals to achieve their ideal shape,and further suggest that TCP genes determine petal identity along the DV axis by regulating MIXTA-like gene expression. | Lin Weng Zhaoxia Tian Xianzhong Feng Xin Li Shilei Xu Xiaohe Hu Da Luo Jun Yang | 2011 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2011,53,10: | 1 |
