| 3 | Prevalence of Thyroid Nodules and Its Relationship with Iodine Status in Shanghai:a Population-based Study显示文摘Objective This study was designed to evaluate the prevalence of thyroid nodules(TNs) and its relationship with urine iodine concentrations(UICs) after the regional rapid economic growth and lifestyle changes. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted in the general population aged 15-69 years. A questionnaire regarding general and personal characteristics and relevant information was administered. Ultrasonography of the thyroid was performed, and serum triiodothyronine(T3), tetraiodothyronine(T4), serum thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH), free triiodothyronine(FT3), free tetraiodothyronine(FT4), thyroglobulin antibody(Tg Ab), thyroid peroxidase antibody(TPOAb), and TSH receptor antibody(TRAb) levels were measured for each individual subject. Results The prevalence rates of TNs in the whole population, females and males were 27.76%, 34.04%, and 21.60%, respectively. The prevalence of multiple nodules increased with age, whereas the prevalence peaks differed between males and females. The median UICs in the whole population and females with non-TNs were higher than those of subjects with TNs(P=0.0035, P=0.0068). The median UICs in subjects with a single TN were higher than those in subjects with multiple TNs(P=0.0164, P=0.0127). The result showed a U-shaped curve relationship between UIC and prevalence of TNs. The prevalence of TNs was the lowest when the UIC was 140-400 μg/L. Conclusion The prevalence of TNs was nearly 30% and increased with age. The relationship between UIC and prevalence of TNs is U-shaped, with an increase in risk when the UIC was <140 μg/L and >400 μg/L. | 5 | Histological Subtypes of Lung Cancer in Chinese Males from 2000 to 2012显示文摘Objective To characterize the histological and epidemiological features of male lung cancer patients in China. Methods The demographic and histological information about male lung cancer patients identified from 2000-01-01 to 2012-12-31,was collected from the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. Relative frequencies(RF) were estimated for major histological subtypes and compared according to the years of diagnosis and birth. Results The RF of adenocarcinoma(ADC) increased from 21.96% to 43.36% and the RF of squamous cell carcinoma(SCC) decreased from 39.11% to 32.23% from 2000 to 2012 in the 15 427 male lung cancer patients included in this study(Z=17.909,P<0.0001; Z=-6.117,P<0.0001). The RF of ADC increased from 28.72% in 2000-2004,36.88% in 2005-2008 to 48.61% in 2009-2012 in patients born after 1960. The age-adjusted RF of ADC in 2007-2012 increased consistently in all the investigated areas. Conclusion The increased RF of ADC in male lung cancer patients highlights the need for further investigation of the etiologic factors of these tumors. | 8 | Design and performance analysis of orthogonal coding signal in MIMO-SAR显示文摘Multi-input multi-output (MIMO) radar which has evident advantages in many applications is a new radar system.Applying the MIMO technique to the earth observing synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system offers effective ways for the improvement of high resolution and wide swath imaging and ground moving target indication (GMTI) systems.Designing the optimal orthogonal waveform is a crucial problem in the research on MIMO radar.First,the index definition of synthetic integrated side-lobe level ratio (ISLR) is proposed by focusing on the SAR application and considering the cross-correlation energy influences between orthogonal coding signals with the same frequency band.Second,it is theoretically demonstrated that the performance of synthetic ISLR of orthogonal coding signals with the same frequency band cannot meet the demands of SAR imaging,which has been proved by one-dimensional numerical simulation. | 9 | Applying the China-PAR Risk Algorithm to Assess 10-year Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease Risk in Populations Receiving Routine Physical Examinations in Eastern China显示文摘Objective To assess the 10-year Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease(ASCVD) risk score among adults in eastern China using the China-PAR equation which formulated primarily for the Chinese population. Methods Data from 72,129 individuals from 35-74 years old who received routine physical examinations in eastern China were analyzed in this study. The 10-year risk scores were calculated using the China-PAR equation. The chi-square test and logistic regression were then performed to evaluate the association between the selected risk factors and overall CVD risk. Results The mean 10-year ASCVD risk scores were 3.82% ± 3.76% in men and 1.30% ± 1.65% in women based on the China-PAR equation. Overall, 20% of men and 3.5% of women were intermediate-risk, and 7.3% of men and 0.3% of women were high-risk. Waist to hip ratio(WHR) [OR = 1.16(CI 95% = 1.06-1.26)], waist to height ratio(WHtR) [OR = 1.16(CI 95% = 1.05-1.28)], non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(non-HDL-C) [OR = 1.23(CI 95% = 1.09-1.39)], and total cholesterol(TC)/HDL-C [OR = 1.68(CI 95% = 1.46-1.94)] were more strongly associated with CVD risk than body-mass index(BMI), waist circumference(WC), and TC alone. Conclusion Male-specific prevention and treatment strategies for ASCVD are needed in eastern China. | 10 | Ventral medial prefrontal functional connectivity and emotion regulation in chronic schizophrenia: A pilot study显示文摘People with schizophrenia exhibit impaired social cognitive functions, particularly emotion regulation. Abnormal activations of the ventral medial prefrontal cortex (vMPFC) during emotional tasks have been demonstrated in schizophrenia, suggesting its important role in emotion processing in patients. We used the resting-state functional connectivity approach, setting a functionally relevant region, the vMPFC, as a seed region to examine the intrinsic functional interactions and communication between the vMPFC and other brain regions in schizophrenic patients. We found hypo-connectivity between the vMPFC and the medial frontal cortex, right middle temporal lobe (MTL), right hippocampus, parahippocampal cortex (PHC) and amygdala. Further, there was a decreased strength of the negative connectivity (or anticorrelation) between the vMPFC and the bilateral dorsal lateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) and pre-supplementary motor areas. Among these connectivity alterations, reduced vMPFC-DLPFC connectivity was positively correlated with positive symptoms on the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale, while vMPFC-right MTL/PHC/amygdala functional connectivity was positively correlated with the performance of emotional regulation in patients. These findings imply that communication and coordination throughout the brain networks are disrupted in schizophrenia. | 11 | Apparent diffusion coefficient-based histogram analysis differentiates histological subtypes of periampullary adenocarcinoma显示文摘BACKGROUND For periampullary adenocarcinoma,the histological subtype is a better prognostic predictor than the site of tumor origin.Intestinal-type periampullary adenocarcinoma(IPAC)is reported to have a better prognosis than the pancreatobiliary-type periampullary adenocarcinoma(PPAC).However,the classification of histological subtypes is difficult to determine before surgery.Apparent diffusion coefficient(ADC)histogram analysis is a noninvasive,nonenhanced method with high reproducibility that could help differentiate the two subtypes.AIM To investigate whether volumetric ADC histogram analysis is helpful for distinguishing IPAC from PPAC.METHODS Between January 2015 and October 2018,476 consecutive patients who were suspected of having a periampullary tumor and underwent magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)were reviewed in this retrospective study.Only patients who underwent MRI at 3.0 T with different diffusion-weighted images(b-values=800 and 1000 s/mm^2)and who were confirmed with a periampullary adenocarcinoma were further analyzed.Then,the mean,5th,10th,25th,50th,75th,90th,and 95th percentiles of ADC values and ADCmin,ADCmax,kurtosis,skewness,and entropy were obtained from the volumetric histogram analysis.Comparisons were made by an independent Student's t-test or Mann-Whitney U test.Multiple-class receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was performed to determine and compare the diagnostic value of each significant parameter.RESULTS In total,40 patients with histopathologically confirmed IPAC(n=17)or PPAC(n=23)were enrolled.The mean,5th,25th,50th,75th,90th,and 95th percentiles and ADCmax derived from ADC1000 were significantly lower in the PPAC group than in the IPAC group(P<0.05).However,values derived from ADC800 showed no significant difference between the two groups.The 75th percentile of ADC1000 values achieved the highest area under the curve(AUC)for differentiating IPAC from PPAC(AUC=0.781;sensitivity,91%;specificity,59%;cut-off value,1.50×10^-3 mm^2/s).CONCLUSION Volumetric ADC histogram analysis at a b-value of 1000 s/mm2 might be helpful for differentiating the histological subtypes of periampullary adenocarcinoma before surgery. | Jing-Yu Lu Hao Yu Xian-Lun Zou Zhen Li Xue-Mei Hu Ya-Qi Shen Dao-Yu Hu | 2019 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2019,25,40: | 6 |
| 12 | Silencing MYH9 blocks HBx-induced GSK3βubiquitination and degradation to inhibit tumor stemness in hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘MYH9 has dual functions in tumors.However,its role in inducing tumor stemness in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is not yet determined.Here,we found that MYH9 is an effective promoter of tumor stemness that facilitates hepatocellular carcinoma pathogenesis.Importantly,targeting MYH9 remarkably improved the survival of hepatocellular carcinoma-bearing mice and promoted sorafenib sensitivity of hepatocellular carcinoma cells in vivo.Mechanistic analysis suggested that MYH9 interacted with GSK3βand reduced its protein expression by ubiquitin-mediated degradation,which therefore dysregulated theβ-catenin destruction complex and induced the downstream tumor stemness phenotype,epithelial–mesenchymal transition,and c-Jun signaling in HCC.C-Jun transcriptionally stimulated MYH9 expression and formed an MYH9/GSK3β/β-catenin/c-Jun feedback loop.X protein is a hepatitis B virus(HBV)-encoded key oncogenic protein that promotes HCC pathogenesis.Interestingly,we observed that HBV X protein(HBX)interacted with MYH9 and induced its expression by modulating GSK3β/β-catenin/c-Jun signaling.Targeting MYH9 blocked HBX-induced GSK3βubiquitination to activate theβ-catenin destruction complex and suppressed cancer stemness and EMT.Based on TCGA database analysis,MYH9 was found to be elevated and conferred poor prognosis for hepatocellular carcinoma patients.In clinical samples,high MYH9 expression levels predicted poor prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma patients.These findings identify the suppression of MYH9 as an alternative approach for the effective eradication of CSC properties to inhibit cancer migration,invasion,growth,and sorafenib resistance in HCC patients.Our study demonstrated that MYH9 is a crucial therapeutic target in HCC. | Xian Lin Ai-min Li Yong-Hao Li Rong-Cheng Luo Yu-Jiao Zou Yi-Yi Liu Chen Liu Ying-Ying Xie Shi Zuo Zhan Liu Zhen Liu Wei-Yi Fang | 2020 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1: | 6 |

| 15 | Alda-1 treatment promotes the therapeutic effect of mitochondrial transplantation for myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury显示文摘Mitochondrial damage is a critical driver in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion(I/R)injury and can be alleviated via the mitochondrial transplantation.The efficiency of mitochondrial transplantation is determined by mitochondrial vitality.Because aldehyde dehydrogenase 2(ALDH2)has a key role in regulating mitochondrial homeostasis,we aimed to investigate its potential therapeutic effects on mitochondrial transplantation via the use of ALDH2 activator,Alda-1.Our present study demonstrated that time-dependent internalization of exogenous mitochondria by cardiomyocytes along with ATP production were significantly increased in response to mitochondrial transplantation.Furthermore,Alda-1 treatment remarkably promoted the oxygen consumption rate and baseline mechanical function of cardiomyocytes caused by mitochondrial transplantation.Mitochondrial transplantation inhibited cardiomyocyte apoptosis induced by the hypoxia-reoxygenation exposure,independent of Alda-1 treatment.However,promotion of the mechanical function of cardiomyocytes exposed to hypoxia-reoxygenation treatment was only observed after mitochondrial Alda-1 treatment and transplantation.By using a myocardial I/R mouse model,our results revealed that transplantation of Alda-1-treated mitochondria into mouse myocardial tissues limited the infarction size after I/R injury,which was at least in part due to increased mitochondrial potential-mediated fusion.In conclusion,ALDH2 activation in mitochondrial transplantation shows great potential for the treatment of myocardial I/R injury. | Xiaolei Sun Rifeng Gao Wenjia Li Yongchao Zhao Heng Yang Hang Chen Hao Jiang Zhen Dong Jingjing Hu Jin Liu Yunzeng Zou Aijun Sun Junbo Ge | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,7: | 5 |

| 17 | Effect and Safety of Kangfuyan Capsules(抗妇炎胶囊)for Relieving Chronic Pelvic Pain:A Multicenter,Randomized,Controlled,Double-Blind,Parallel-Group Clinical Trial显示文摘Objective To evaluate the effect and safety of Kangfuyan Capsules(抗妇炎胶囊)for treating pelvic inflammatory disease(PID)in patients with chronic pelvic pain(CPP)in a multicenter,randomized,controlled,double-blind,parallel-group clinical trial.Methods Totally,240 PID patients with CPP were randomized into 2 groups using a computer generated random number at a 1:1 ratio from 10 hospitals in China between September 2014 and November 2015.Patients received either oral Kangfuyan Capsules or Gongyanping Capsules(宫炎平胶囊,control);the regimen for both groups comprised 4 capsules(3 times daily)for 12 weeks,with follow-up visit 4 weeks after treatment.The visual analogue scale(VAS)scores,clinical responses,remarkable cure rates for each symptom,and quality of life scores were assessed at baseline,and after 1,2,and 3 months.Adverse events were also recorded.Results The VAS scores were significantly lower(P<0.05),whereas the clinical responses,remarkable cure rates for lower abdominal pain,uterine tenderness,adnexal mass,and adnexal tenderness,and Health-related quality of life(EQ-5D)scores were higher in the Kangfuyan group than in the control group at 3 months(P<0.05).Common treatment-related adverse events included high hepatic enzyme levels,reduced hemoglobin levels,and elevated platelet counts,although all the adverse events were either mild or moderate in severity.Conclusion Compared with Gongyanping therapy,Kangfuyan therapy yielded markedly better analgesia effects for CPP caused by PID,with obvious long-term efficacy and good safety.(Registration No.ChiCTR190022732) | LIU Zhao-hui JIN Zhe ZHAO Hong LU Yao ZHEN Hui ZOU Ting | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2021,27,12: | 4 |

For the purpose of optomechanical studies, high-quality-factor optical(Q_o~ 10~8) and mechanical modes(Q_m~ 0.87 × 10~4) are maintained after the mounting process. For the mounted microsphere, the coupling system is more stable and compact and, thus, is beneficial for future studies and applications based on optomechanical interactions. | 20 | A fast and versatile cross-linking strategy via o-phthalaldehyde condensation for mechanically strengthened and functional hydrogels显示文摘Fast and catalyst-free cross-linking strategy is of great significance for construction of covalently cross-linked hydrogels.Here,we report the condensation reaction between o-phthalaldehyde(OPA)and N-nucleophiles(primary amine,hydrazide and aminooxy)for hydrogel formation for the first time.When four-arm poly(ethylene glycol)(4 a PEG)capped with OPA was mixed with various N-nucleophile-terminated 4 aPEG as building blocks,hydrogels were formed with superfast gelation rate,higher mechanical strength and markedly lower critical gelation concentrations,compared to benzaldehyde-based counterparts.Small molecule model reactions indicate the key to these cross-links is the fast formation of heterocycle phthalimidine product or isoindole(bis)hemiaminal intermediates,depending on the N-nucleophiles.The second-order rate constant for the formation of phthalimidine linkage(4.3 M-1s-1)is over 3000 times and 200 times higher than those for acylhydrazone and oxime formation from benzaldehyde,respectively,and comparable to many cycloaddition click reactions.Based on the versatile OPA chemistry,various hydrogels can be readily prepared from naturally derived polysaccharides,proteins or synthetic polymers without complicated chemical modification.Moreover,biofunctionality is facilely imparted to the hydrogels by introducing amine-bearing peptides via the reaction between OPA and amino group. | Zhen Zhang Chaoliang He Yan Rong Hui Ren Tianran Wang Zheng Zou Xuesi Chen | 2021 | National Science Review2021,8,4: | 4 |
