1Evolution and variation of the Tsushima warm current during the late Quaternary: Evidence from planktonic foraminifera, oxygen and carbon isotopes显示文摘The evolution and variation history of the Tsushima warm current during the late Quaternary was reconstructed based on the quantitative census data of planktonic foraminiferal fauna, together with oxygen and carbon isotope records of mixed layer dweller G. ruber and thermocline dweller N. dutertrei in piston core CSH1 and core DGKS9603 collected separately from the Tsushima warm current and the Kuroshio dominated area. The result showed that the Tsushima warm current vanished in the lowstand period during 40―24 cal ka BP, while the Kuroshio still flowed across the Okinawa Trough, arousing strong upwelling in the northern Trough. Meanwhile, the influence of freshwater greatly increased in the northern Okinawa Trough, as the broad East China Sea continental shelf emerged. The freshwater reached its maximum during the last glacial maximum (LGM), when the upwelling obviously weakened for the lowest sea-level and the depression of the Kuroshio. The modern Tsushima warm current began its development since 16 cal ka BP, and the impact of the Kuroshio increased in the middle and north- ern Okinawa Trough synchronously during the deglaciation and gradually evolved as the main water source of the Tsushima current. The modern Tsushima current finally formed at about 8.5 cal ka BP, since then the circulation structure has been relatively stable. The water of the modern Tsushima cur- rent primarily came from the Kuroshio axis. A short-term wiggle of the current occurred at about 3 cal ka BP, probably for the influences from the enhancement of the winter monsoon and the depression of the Kuroshio. 2A broad deglacial δ^(13)C minimum event in planktonic foraminiferal records in the Okinawa Trough显示文摘The equatorial Pacific upwelling zone has been suspected of playing an important role in the global atmospheric CO2 changes associated with glacial-interglacial cycles. In order to assess the influencing scope of the surface water deglacial δ13C minimum in the tropical low-latitude Pacific, the core DGKS9603, collected from the middle Okinawa Trough, was examined for δ13C records of planktonic fo-raminifera N. dutertrei and G. ruber. The planktonic fo-raminiferal δ13C records show a clear decreasing event from 20 to 6 cal. kaBP., which is characterized by long duration of about 14 ka and amplitude shift of 0.4×10-3. Its minimum value occurred at 15.7 cal kaBP. The event shows fairly synchrony with the surface water deglacial δ13C minimum identified in the tropical Pacific and its marginal seas. 3The sedimentation rates in the Okinawa Trough during the Late Quaternary显示文摘On the basis of accelerator mass spectrometer radiocarbon (AMS14C) dating, sedimentation rates of 11 cores collected from thenorthern to southern Okinawa Trough are discussed. The sedimentation rates in the Okinawa Trough roughly range from 11 to 39cm/ka, and the average is 23.0 cm/ka. China’s continental matter is the main sediment source of the middle Okinawa Trough and hasimportant contribution to the northern and southern Okinawa Trough. The sedimentation rates during the marine oxygen isotope (MIS)2 are uniformly higher than those during MIS 1 in the northern and middle Okinawa Trough while they are on the contrary in thesouthern Okinawa Trough. 5Can we reestablish a self-sustaining population?A case study on reintroduced Crested Ibis with population viability analysis显示文摘Background:One of the most challenging tasks in wildlife conservation and management is clarifying which and how external and intrinsic factors influence wildlife demography and long-term viability.The wild population of the Crested Ibis(Nipponia nippon)has recovered to approximately 4400,and several reintroduction programs have been carried out in China,Japan and Korea.Population viability analysis on this endangered species has been limited to the wild population,showing that the long-term population growth is restricted by the carrying capacity and inbreeding.However,gaps in knowledge of the viability of the reintroduced population and its drivers in the release environment impede the identification of the most effective population-level priorities for aiding in species recovery.Methods:The field monitoring data were collected from a reintroduced Crested Ibis population in Ningshan,China from 2007 to 2018.An individual-based VORTEX model(Version 10.3.5.0)was used to predict the future viability of the reintroduced population by incorporating adaptive patterns of ibis movement in relation to catastrophe frequency,mortality and sex ratio.Results:The reintroduced population in Ningshan County is unlikely to go extinct in the next 50 years.The popula-tion size was estimated to be 367,and the population genetic diversity was estimated to be 0.97.Sensitivity analysis showed that population size and extinction probability were dependent on the carrying capacity and sex ratio.The carrying capacity is the main factor accounting for the population size and genetic diversity,while the sex ratio is the primary factor responsible for the population growth trend.Conclusions:A viable population of the Crested Ibis can be established according to population viability analysis.Based on our results,conservation management should prioritize a balanced sex ratio,high-quality habitat and low mortality.Yashuai Zhan Fang Wang Zhenxia Cui Min Li Xia Li Xinping Ye Xiaoping Yu 2021Avian Research2021,12,2:2
6NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF LAG INFLUENCE OF ENSO ON EAST-ASIAN MONSOON显示文摘By prescribing sea surface temperature anomalies (SSTAs) over eastern equatorial Pacific in January-March, the lag influence of ENSO (El Nino and La Nina) on monsoon over East Asia has been studied. The results suggest that, due to the excitation of atmospheric low-frequency oscillation by the SSTA, ENSO has significant lag influence on the monsoon over East Asia.During the summer after El Nino, the subtropical high over western Pacific is intensified and shows the northward and westward displacement, meanwhile, the rainfall over East China is below normal, especially in North China; during the winter after El Nino, both the Asian trough and the winter monsoon over East Asia are strengthened. During the summer after La Nina, the anomalous subtropical high prevails over the lower reaches of Yangtze (Changjiang) River, the rainfall between Yangtze and Huaihe Rivers is below normal; during the winter after La Nina,both the Asian trough and the winter monsoon over East Asia are weaker. 8Ultrafine Fe-modulated Ni nanoparticles embedded within nitrogen-doped carbon from Zr-MOFs-confined conversion for efficient oxygen evolution reaction显示文摘Improvement of the low-cost transition metal electrocatalyst used in sluggish oxygen evolution reaction is a significant but challenging problem. In this study, ultrafine Fe-modulated Ni nanoparticles embedded in a porous Ni-doped carbon matrix were produced by the pyrolysis of zirconium metal–organic–frameworks, in which 2,2′-bipyridine-5,5′-dicarboxylate operating as a ligand can coordinate with Ni^(2+) and Fe^(3+). This strategy allows formation of Fe-modulated Ni nanoparticles with a uniform dimension of about 2 nm which can be ascribed to the spatial blocking effect of ZrO_(2). This unique catalyst displays an efficient oxygen evolution reaction electrocatalytic activity with a low overpotential of 372 mV at 10 mA·cm^(–2) and a small Tafel slope of 84.4 mV·dec^(–1) in alkaline media. More importantly, it shows superior durability and structural stability after 43 h in a chronoamperometry test. Meanwhile, it shows excellent cycling stability during 4000 cyclic voltammetry cycles. 19Histone demethylase JMJD3 downregulation protects against aberrant force-induced osteoarthritis through epigenetic control of NR4A1显示文摘Osteoarthritis(OA)is a prevalent joint disease with no effective treatment strategies.Aberrant mechanical stimuli was demonstrated to be an essential factor for OA pathogenesis.Although multiple studies have detected potential regulatory mechanisms underlying OA and have concentrated on developing novel treatment strategies,the epigenetic control of OA remains unclear.Histone demethylase JMJD3 has been reported to mediate multiple physiological and pathological processes,including cell differentiation,proliferation,autophagy,and apoptosis.However,the regulation of JMJD3 in aberrant force-related OA and its mediatory effect on disease progression are still unknown.In this work,we confirmed the upregulation of JMJD3 in aberrant forceinduced cartilage injury in vitro and in vivo.Functionally,inhibition of JMJD3 by its inhibitor,GSK-J4,or downregulation of JMJD3 by adenovirus infection of sh-JMJD3 could alleviate the aberrant force-induced chondrocyte injury.Mechanistic investigation illustrated that aberrant force induces JMJD3 expression and then demethylates H3K27me3 at the NR4A1 promoter to promote its expression.Further experiments indicated that NR4A1 can regulate chondrocyte apoptosis,cartilage degeneration,extracellular matrix degradation,and inflammatory responses.In vivo,anterior cruciate ligament transection(ACLT)was performed to construct an OA model,and the therapeutic effect of GSK-J4 was validated.More importantly,we adopted a peptide-si RNA nanoplatform to deliver si-JMJD3 into articular cartilage,and the severity of joint degeneration was remarkably mitigated.Taken together,our findings demonstrated that JMJD3 is flow-responsive and epigenetically regulates OA progression.Our work provides evidences for JMJD3 inhibition as an innovative epigenetic therapy approach for joint diseases by utilizing p5RHH-si RNA nanocomplexes.Yu Jin Zhen Liu Zhenxia Li Hairui Li Cheng Zhu Ruomei Li Ting Zhou Bing Fang 2022International Journal of Oral Science2022,14,3:1
